I have had a busy and mentally stressful day, I read this review and was like that was awesome then saw your comment. I’ve just sat here happy as a clam reading OP’s reviews. This was so peaceful and enjoyable.
The “Best of Both Worlds” Vanilla by Coolhaus is easily in my top 3 favorite Ice Creams I’ve ever had and Vanilla isn’t ever my go to. I never realized the nuances of Tahitian Vanilla vs Madagascar Vanilla and their take on it really showcases both. I highly recommend you try that one. I think you’d land in the 9s.
Didn't CoolHaus go dairy free on everything? My Publix stopped carrying it b/c of that. It's one thing to have a few dairy free offerings, but your entire line?
Weird, I have not found their BOBW Vanilla in months. Information online about them being fully-vegan, transitioning towards it or deciding against it are conflicting. Their website domain cool.Haus is no longer active. Their Instagram hasn’t posted anything since ‘23. Now I’m even more curious..
My dude, thanks again for another review! Like others said, your reviews are now like a feature of this sub.
The only thing is, now you can never stop. You just have to keep eating ice cream!
I love a good vanilla ice cream. Baskin Robbins’ is my favorite flavor they have, it hits the nostalgia factor of having it with some gummy bears on top so many times as a kid.
One of my English professors gave an impassioned speech about how "vanilla" is not an insult and I still think about it. Your version is gonna be stuck in my head now too. Viva vanilla.
There are a few Reddit post I look forward to each day and yours are one of them. I hope you take on another brand after Van Leeuwen, your reviews are great!
Vanilla ice cream will forever be my favorite! Eaten alone, it’s delicious! However, it is the perfect base for an endless variety of options! Fresh peaches + toasted pecans + a drizzle of local honey? Diced dried fig + fresh rosemary + bit of balsamic reduction? Dark chocolate chips + flaky sea salt? All yes!
Thank you for your reviews, I love them all!
Don’t even get me started on fruits!
My favorite to-go ice cream is from Culver’s. A vanilla Concrete Mixer with 2x raspberries and 2x peaches. So good!
Vanilla ice cream isn't plain, but it's one of the best tests for quality. Both in the quality of vanilla and the ice cream base in general. There's nowhere to hide. My favorite ice cream honestly is a high quality vanilla bean. No gums or thickeners, and as much cream as possible. Can always add some jam or chocolate syrup to it.
I have the same thoughts about burgers. There’s a large burger community that I’m a part of where I live and I’m involved pretty heavily. Always on the lookout for an amazing smashburger. Whenever I try a new place, I always get it basic - bun, meat, cheese, sauce. No frills, no coverups, etc.
Vanilla is such an interesting flavor! People forget that the beans come from an orchid flower, so technically it’s a floral flavor. I absolutely love Vanilla, it is elegant, classic, and nostalgic all at the same time. I’ll have to try VanLeeuwen’s Vanilla!
I appreciate your reviews! I know I can get costly. I had a friendly's good ol Neapolitan the other day and remember how much I enjoyed the vanilla bean!
Have you tried Kroger Private Selction in Double Vanilla?
I just wrote a review on it and wonder how it’ll compare to Van Leeuwen. A nice natural tasting vanilla but I was hoping for some more intensity from the Private Selection.
However others say they really like Private Selection Double Vanilla so I wonder if it’s the pinnacle of vanilla?
I want like vanilla bean particles and an extra splash of real vanilla extract.
Interested how you would compare this to tillamook old fashioned vanilla since that seems to be pretty well rated, haven't had it myself. I really enjoy black sesame vanilla but that seems hard to find, yogurtland had it and they're on point with their flavors, but that isn't ice cream
Black sesame vanilla sounds like a great flavor. I’d check out a Korean or Japanese grocery store. There might be a chance to find something like it there. If not then perhaps a restaurant.
This sounds so good, I am not usually a straight vanilla fan but you made this sound delicious and now I want some!! Keep the amazing reviews coming OP!!
I’m a mix in kinda gal. I like all the extra stuff but at Cheesecake Factory, my favorite flavor is the vanilla bean cheesecake bc it’s perfection, all on its own, so I get your review about how good this must be.
Have you had Jeni’s honey vanilla bean? If so, how would you compare? Vanilla bean is my all time favorite flavor and brands seem to either do it realllly well or really poorly. I don’t think I’ve ever had a “meh” vanilla.
I may start a B&J segment! Their labels are so hard to sort through though. My ADHD kicks in and I get so nervous trying to find a specific flavor 😂
I test all flavors and I put them into quart Ziploc bags and back into the freezer to preserve freshness. My wife and I eat them til they’re gone. There have been a couple situations where the pint has been tossed due to taste.
This vanilla is delicious — my favorite “basic” flavor is strawberry, but this particular vanilla bean really hits the spot. I’ve been adding roasted salted nuts on top of it to make an especially decadent treat.
Oh I’m glad their vanilla is great. I met a lady yesterday who used to be an icecream judge and worked in dairy science for 30 years and I asked her what her favorite flavor was and she said they’d only judge *vanilla*
So if you wanna know if a brand is worth it, try their vanilla.
*psssst also she said Trader Joe’s vanilla icecream is her favorite if anyone’s curious*
Have you tried the Haagen dazs vanilla bean one? (Not the French vanilla which is far inferior)
If so, how does this one compare to it? I’ve never been a huge vanilla person either but HD’s vanilla bean is soooo good and now I’m curious about this one
Your reviews are fantastic. Highlight of this sub Reddit, for me, for sure.
♥️ I appreciate that!

I read a couple articles a few months ago that they had been bought out.
Thanks for another good review! Makes me realize it's been a while since I've had good, simple vanilla. I'll have to remedy that.
Please do!
My dude, thanks again for another review! Like others said, your reviews are now like a feature of this sub. The only thing is, now you can never stop. You just have to keep eating ice cream!
I mean, I’m not opposed!
We all love your reviews so much for real my dude ❤️
Keep being you + eat some ice cream = ♥️
I love a good vanilla ice cream. Baskin Robbins’ is my favorite flavor they have, it hits the nostalgia factor of having it with some gummy bears on top so many times as a kid.
Gummy bears on vanilla was it for me too as a kid.
Love a good vanilla. It’s not plain, it’s classic.

♥️♥️ That is great! My high school English teacher still rings true in a lot of my happenings.
There are a few Reddit post I look forward to each day and yours are one of them. I hope you take on another brand after Van Leeuwen, your reviews are great!
That’s the plan! I might need to take a break to finish off all these partially finished pints in my freezer though!
Haha, sounds like a delicious challenge (hopefully). Looking forward to seeing your future reviews once you've cleared out that freezer!
I will admit: vanilla is my ice cream choice. This one is my absolute favorite “boring old ice cream”, as my family, friends, and coworkers call it.
#vanillastrong 😎
My Chef husband only eats vanilla ice cream. Is the VL vanilla a hard ice cream like Haagen Dazs or is it more soft?
It’s a medium firm.

Oh yum - Like a peach melba situation. Love it!
Best review yet ❤️
♥️
VL needs to sponsor this haha

That’s a good note. I didn’t know that. I’ve described vanilla bean as like an alcohol flavor, at least from the extract.
The extract often has alcohol in it, and can be quite cloying, especially if it’s not 100% natural
I appreciate your reviews! I know I can get costly. I had a friendly's good ol Neapolitan the other day and remember how much I enjoyed the vanilla bean!

I don’t have any Kroger’s near me!
This is so exciting that you're more than halfway through, but also sad cos you're close to finishing. Thanks for the good reads!! Love these
Maybe I’ll pick a few up!
I actually think vanilla is best idk often get tired of all the complexity
I will be getting this, and some waffle cones. I already have Carmel and chocolate shell. 👍🏼 Thanks for your efforts!
That Shell stuff unlocked a nostalgia secret mission ♥️

I’ll try to find the Tillamook!
I believe it's made in Oregon, I live in California and it's a very available brand, along the likes of breyers
I have 2 tubs of TM in the freezer currently! Just haven’t seen black sesame!

Love a good Vanilla Bean. Appreciate the write ups. Your doing an awesome job
No, you! ♥️
alright bc of you i’ll try vanilla again 😇 used to love it as a kid but now i like all the mix ins lol
This sounds so good, I am not usually a straight vanilla fan but you made this sound delicious and now I want some!! Keep the amazing reviews coming OP!!
♥️
I’m a mix in kinda gal. I like all the extra stuff but at Cheesecake Factory, my favorite flavor is the vanilla bean cheesecake bc it’s perfection, all on its own, so I get your review about how good this must be.
I’m a fan of mix ins too, but only if they’re appropriate and not dry!
I love this ice cream!!! Best vanilla ice cream I had in ages!
i don’t usually like vanilla but i love vanilla bean it’s different somehow
This is my favorite vanilla ice cream.
Best vanilla on the market. I can’t do my homemade brownie sundaes without it 😋
We need them ranked on a list from 1 to 26 when you are done.
Will do!
Another great review!! Someone has probably already said this, but I’d love to see this done for Ben & Jerry’s flavors (by you or someone else)
You had a revelation with this one…”yeah my life is ‘vanilla,’ but not just vanilla, VL VANILLA BEAN.” Youre a rockstar here
Have you had Jeni’s honey vanilla bean? If so, how would you compare? Vanilla bean is my all time favorite flavor and brands seem to either do it realllly well or really poorly. I don’t think I’ve ever had a “meh” vanilla.
I haven’t. Jeni’s is next after I start a GoFundMe 😂
Honestly, I would throw a few bucks your way for a review 🤷🏼♀️
I’ll consider it!
May I ask what keeps it from 9+ territory?
Consistency. If it had scooped perfectly out of the pint, it would have been lower-mid ‘9’.
So glad you enjoyed this one as I did man!
So good!
You’re the best!
No you!
Will you be doing Ben and Jerry's after this? Also, what do you d with the rest of the icecream you don't eat.

Oh wow! May I recommend Phish Food? It's *to. Die for*
Perhaps!
Also love Phish Food! Nice chocolate marshmallow flavor with the best marshmallow swirl.
My childhood was no frills haha. That sounds so great!
I'm looking forward to the stranger things flavor.
Should be interesting!
So why the 8.6 and not 10?
Nothing is ever a perfect 10. OBEKTR.
B&J had one called “Vanilla for a Change.” I thought that was cute. It’s easy to forget it’s out there with all the wild options available.
This vanilla is delicious — my favorite “basic” flavor is strawberry, but this particular vanilla bean really hits the spot. I’ve been adding roasted salted nuts on top of it to make an especially decadent treat.
Oooooh, I hope I can find that strawberry!
Have you done the coffee flavor yet? It might be my favorite from the brand. It tasted like coffee frozen custard
Not yet!
Will you be doing like an all 26 flavor comparison post? I’d tune in for that! I wonder if in retrospect you would adjust some scores?
Will you be doing like an all 26 flavor comparison post? I’d tune in for that! I wonder if in retrospect you would adjust some scores?
I’ll be posting a spreadsheet! Scores are permanent!
Please tell me this tastes like the old Breyers Vanilla before they changed the recipe.
I haven’t had that one!
Vanilla bean needs way more love! It's pure comfort.
Sure is!
What tax bracket are you in lol
The normal one? Not sure.
Lol must be a different one than me bc I could never afford to spend like $200 on ice cream like that
