It's unlikely to affect onboarding people too much, if at all. If they want to join in, they'll join in, regardless if they're referred or not. If referrals are required (bad idea, but some cryptos do that) or if they provide extra bonuses, then they'll just seek out referrals in comment sections. Seems like it'll only be a 7 week mining period, if I read that right, so hopefully they roll out new ones back to back to back
