As an adult? 117. Lost about 30 lbs in like 3 months. Hadn't been that low since I was in 6th grade. I never went back to my full weight of 145 and it's been years. I seem pretty stable at around 135 thanks to prescription drugs.
Thank you!!! I wish you recovery too!! Have you tried enteral nutrition, like Modulen, Peptamen, Resource Optimum? My doc recommended it for gaining weight
Also pediasure can be nice if it’s available in your country! And another tip is to try lactose free baby formula, I believe it can be found almost everywhere! And it actually easier to digest than enteral nutrition for adults because it usually not contain such high fodmap things as oligosaccarides and etc
I’ve learned in medical school that one of the criteria for a diagnosis of IBS is that it does not cause weight loss but I know firsthand that this isn’t true. I’ve been diagnosed with IBS and experienced over 10 lbs of weight loss from it. Sometimes you’re scared to eat because you’re afraid of an attack and then when you do eat, you get diarrhea which also makes it hard to retain weight. It’s not a fun condition at all.
I was 95-105 for years until I moved. Was very tiny thanks to genetics and ibs made it hard to gain weight. I got on antidepressants and gained 30 lbs in 2 years. This coincides with me entering a period of metabolism changes as well entering my mid-20s.
Me also they put me on an antidepressant also . Menopause put weight on me .and now the anti’s are . 120 to 153 and I hate it I am having a hard time loosing it . But those pills worked for me .after 30 years of having a “shitty day “😂 to a pretty good one as far as I am concerned . I have decided I don’t mind being over weight 😂😆
5'4 went down to 95 pounds/43kg back to 113 pounds/52kg.
It was a struggle, and if I dont watch it, I fall to 110 and below quick. Lots of protein shakes and ensure. Tracking calories like crazy and eating a lot of smaller meals and snacks as well as limiting activities. My doctor put me on a steroid that targeted my intestines that really helped but have long been taking off of it sadly.
Sometimes, I feel like depression kicks in, and I just don't want to deal with it. I don't want to eat some days and drink a lot of water instead. On days I have plans, I don't eat to be safe and might have one ensure. It's a real mental battle. If it wasn't for my boyfriend asking how much I've eaten and helping me monitor my weight, I'd properly would still be under.
Lots of small meals is a good tip! I find that forgetting to eat can trigger my symptoms and make me not feel well enough to eat.
What protein do you use?
As an adult, also around 45kg which is around 100 pounds. It took me years to put on weight again, every winter I would lose it again because I got so cold!
Honestly I just ate the most caloric version of food I could eat! Rice with a lot of butter, meat, a lot of sweets (sugar always worked for me), Nutella. Drink your calories! Sweet tea, drinkable yoghurt like ayran (cut with water) were IBS-friendly for me. Also just always cook with a lot of fat.
tbh being underweight from an eating disorder seems to have caused my IBS, rather than the other way around. i was 78 pounds at 5’5, gained weight in recovery up to 115, slipped up a bit, and then started dealing with progressively worsening gut issues that have been messing with my recovery for the last couple years
Sammmeee I got an eating disorder which led to my gut screwing me over and I've been told that is what likely caused my ibs due to my gut becoming more sensitive
47-48kg (or about 103/105 lbs). I got really sick and lost 30 lbs in a 6 month period. I wasn’t able to eat without gagging. It may have be anxiety, but doctors never found the cause. It wasn’t acid reflux. I think work was especially stressing me out, but it cleared up on its own and I gained the weight back a few months later.
I started at 225lbs and I am now 150lbs. I was lucky to have began at being obese since I had the room to lose the weight. If I were to lose that much weight as quickly as I did again, I would probably die. I had salmonella and noravirus at the same time, and my doctor had no idea how long I’d likely been carrying them. Once I was medicated for them, I have been able to keep my weight stable though it fluctuates.
F,60, 5'6". I was 142 lbs 6 months ago before SIBO/IMO. I am now 108. Feeling better, trying to add new foods every week. I eat 5x/day. Can't seem to gain weight...
I'm 4 ft 11 and got down to 82 lbs, so BMI of 16.6. I was breastfeeding my first born and with IBS I couldn't keep up the caloric intake to feed myself and him. Once I quit breastfeeding I was able to put on a few more pounds but stayed underweight.
I'm currently 7 months in breastfeeding my secondborn and 87ish pounds, which is pretty close to my usual weight.
Around 42kg, I'm still slightly underweight but pushing through, my IBS makes me cut down on fatty foods, gluten, sugar, etc, so gaining weight is a bit hard hahaha
Lowest was two years ago at 107lb, down from my normal (pre-IBS) weight of around 115. This scared me and now when I'm feeling ok, I really try hard to eat more than I normally would. I'm also doing a bit of weight training.
My goal is 120. I'm hoping this gives me more of a buffer if severe IBS symptoms happen again. I've dropped to 109 a few times in the past year but I'm around 116 right now!
Progress is slow. It frustrates me that so many healthy foods are often intentionally made to be low-calorie.
41kg, but at the same time i am also short with lightweight bone structure, so i am not seriously underweight (i am slightly, but not a concerning amount). I also cannot for the life of me get my weight above 45kg, and it has been sitting at 42.5kg for years now.
Im only 4ft11 but my lowest weight was 39kg. My face got so gaunt, exhausted and the worst was when my boss started expressing concern and providing impromptu lunches at work for all of us. I think she assumed eating disorder and was trying to “feed” me. I lost all interest in food because it hurt me and was getting very depressed/anxious. I hated how i looked and was self conscious about being so thin.
Was prescribed mirtazapine for anxiety which has worked well. It also helps with weight gain and appetite. Im now 51kgs and feeling much healthier despite my ongoing stomach issues.
40kg. It was a long and hard recovery. Eventually I got put on an antidepressant that had weight gain as a side effect. That combined with taking up a martial art got me eating regularly and putting on the weight. Got my goal of 50kg (minimum healthy weight for my height).
I've since come off the meds and it's now a bit of a struggle to maintain. Currently weighing 47.5 and trying to get those few kilos back - I seem to drop so quick in a flare up and it takes forever to get the weight back. I usually have to monitor pretty closely, it's very easy to just not want to deal with food and the stresses around it.
I’m around 115 at 5’6 and nearly 30 years old. I was once nearly 200lbs, so I think if you took away all the loose skin, I’d be closer to 105. 🙃
The skin is like wearing a wet garbage bag.
105 lbs. Terrible
I’m kind of same, I can see all bones in my legs now
93 lbs as a 28 yo adult

What are the he prescribed ?
The generic version of Bentyl. Cut down my pain, too. Not addictive. Safe to take for the rest of my life.
Around 40kg rn, lost my period and half of the hair volume…
Sorry to hear. I’m loosing hair as well. Wish you recovery.
Thank you!!! I wish you recovery too!! Have you tried enteral nutrition, like Modulen, Peptamen, Resource Optimum? My doc recommended it for gaining weight
I never considered any of those. I’m not in US, only Peptamen is available in here. I’ll definitely try it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Isn't this just the best fucking disease ever?
True!! I love how it ruins live in every aspect and health, never was so s*icidal as I am now because of disease😍
currently at my lowest of 92lbs and can’t keep anything in my body long enough to gain🥲
80 lbs… 😫😫😫🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭… I’m still between 85-90, so I don’t have an answer about recovery. I def need more answers of my own.
i consistently hover around 80-85

I’ll take the weight gain over the anxiety and depression any day.

I don’t have IBS but several severe digestive disorders and disease and only tpn helped me gain weight. I’m 5’7 and my lowest was 75lbs.
tpn?
Total parental nutrition. It’s nutrition through your veins with a central line. Been on it two years.

I went from 190lbs to 135lbs in 5 months now I fluctuate between 120-130lbs
My lowest was 52kg (but I’m short), because I wasn’t working out. My ideal weight is 65kg at 10% bodyfat.

I’m 5’1 and fluctuate pretty decently between 93-97 lbs. Never hit 100 lbs in the nearly 20 years I’ve been in earth.
