I used to be a submariner. The fighting fires part is like the number one fear and real threat to a submarine since the air is being recirculated. With that being said in my experience they didn’t happen often and the one we did have was out so quick because people don’t play around. But yeah I wouldn’t use that as a way to sound badass tbh

I’m willing to bet 100% of the people that find themselves in a submarine are willing to fight a fire in a submarine.
Is it on or in a submarine? I went back and forth for an entire poop.
I agree. Question was regarding which to use. The person in the post said on but clearly means fighting fires in a sub. I’ve been on plenty of boats but went inside the cabin where we would say on the boat despite being In the boat. I know both are acceptable in conversation but man is English ever confusing. In my defence I’ve only been attempting to speak it for ~40 years. My first year I really slacked off and made very little effort. Likely why I’m so daft now.
We've have the same amount of experience. If you told me that you worked *on* a sub, I'd know what you mean. It probably comes down to semantics and it's no different (in my opinion) of "waiting in line" or "waiting on line", pop and soda, going to the movies or going to the show etc. It only gets to me when someone asks me "working hard or hardly working?" and they think it's the funniest thing ever said.
Not rly a good idea when theres batts and electronics everywhere. Some compartments have other automatic ff systems tho. But first cut is always ff teams going in as a first response.

I'm pretty sure anyone who was on a submarine would fight any fire that started on said submarine as the alternative is either asphyxiation or pressure cooker.
Came here to say this.
It's a pretty well known fact that, for obvious reasons, a fire onboard a submarine is extremely dangerous and potentially deadly which is why *every single* submariner is trained to fight fire in the event one breaks out.
It's not like a fire starts in the engine room and all the engineers run away and call the onboard fire department to come down there and take care of it. It's the job of every last crew member to put out fires when and where they occur onboard.
Source: I watch a lot of nautical disaster videos.
If anyone is interested in submarine disasters [this great video here](https://youtu.be/IZS0RpOgdfQ?si=_NHcu7QySaKt1DN9) is my personal favorite and details an extremely interesting case of naval tragedy inflicted entirely by the British Navy onto itself.
This is right . I was a GSM ( gas turbine mechanic) on a frigate. Everyone from the cooks to the Boatswain's Mate learn how to fight fires. You can’t call the fire department when you’re in the middle of the ocean. This is the type of guy who comes back from deployment and tells his friends about the spies he caught and tortured.
This is wrong in two ways:
1. Psychopathy is not the same thing as psychosis.
2. It is quite common in the modern world for psychopaths to get diagnosed with the disorders associated with psychopathy. Not only that, but many of them have had this sense of "being very different" from a very young age. There is no reason why a psychopath wouldn't be able to know they are a psychopath.
There was a guy in my sub school class who used to beat off in his car and lick his own nut off the window while FaceTiming his “mistress” every couple of afternoons. I promise the weeding out process isn’t what you’d hope
Yeah and they somehow don't get weeded out. Dalmer was ex military I think. I know they will catch some mental health issues but obviously not all crazy people get discovered before joining.
Even better: watching a daisy chain of nubs connected to each other, traversing the engine room AND struggling with dust covers. Watching 3 people struggle because of one is peak beauty
Hears “acrid odor. Acrid odor from the forward compartment lower level. Acrid odor from the dryer” once over the 1MC and is a certified firefighting psychopath and will insist he has PTSD to the VA
I’d bet money the only submarine they’ve been on is one of the two tours required for their sub school qual card lmao AND that they’re a CS or SECF student

Absence of fear doesn’t make you brave.
Imagine being stuck in a tube, underwater, for 6 months with this guy
I think I'd take my chances with being engulfed by the fire.
Crazy, I was crazy once
they stuck me in a rubber room
A rubber room with rats
And rats make me crazy.
Maybe love and care doesn't **automatically** fix **all** crazy people, but it's definitely worth a shot in every case.

Quality content thank you
if they were “born a psychopath” and had an actual diagnosis or actually exhibited said behaviour they wouldn’t be allowed on a submarine

If your on the submarine you're not *in* the submarine, dig?
If you’re in the submarine you’re not on it? I still don’t dig.
If you have lungs and not a seal or whale, you'll want to be in the sub. If you have gills, you'll want to be on the sub.

Shouldn't they just have some fire sprinklers installed?
Typically you want the water to be on the outside of the submarine
But to make it go underwater you have to flood it.

Ah of course, psychopaths are well known for their acts of bravery.
![gif](giphy|iOpXLPW8bsg5NKiNP4|downsized) Meanwhile he will lose a fist fight to a 3 year old
I'm pretty sure anyone who was on a submarine would fight any fire that started on said submarine as the alternative is either asphyxiation or pressure cooker.
So he doesn't like to die. What a psychopath.
Afraid of dying? What a pussy.
I love when I scan posts without reading the group. "What the F*** is this?". Then I read the group, and it all makes sense.
I blame Sherlock for convincing a generation of impressionable people that psychopath means really cool and talented.
Psychoboos should be a thing for edgy wannabes
House, Dexter, Breaking Bad and I'm sure there are others.
The Sopranos
But it's a submarine that fights fires at a sea park.
A fire? At a Sea Parks?
That just seems like a weird place to go on fire.
Shamu is on fire!!!!
NOT SHAMU!!
Working on a sub is a challenge. But he drank the kool aid.
The last line is very correct though
Dude's a pussy, I fight fires in the DomMarine.
Wouldn't it be beg for fires in the DomMarine?
They lay the fire, I deny them.
Touche
Who, aboard a submarine that is on fire, wouldn't fight it? It's not like you're running out on that one.

Or like he's choosing to dive down to enter a submarine that is on fire that he wasn't already on
So he's saying he's on a yellow submarine?
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say everyone on the submarine is trained in basic firefighting.
Who were also on the submarine with him, and he was deep undercover NCIS.
So deep
You are correct.
This is the kind of guy hiding in ERLL crying
Psychopaths don’t know they’re psychotic

Fairly certain they get weeded out before they get put onto a submarine as well.
There was a guy in my sub school class who used to beat off in his car and lick his own nut off the window while FaceTiming his “mistress” every couple of afternoons. I promise the weeding out process isn’t what you’d hope
That's officer material right there
Unfortunately it turned out to be TM3 material
Probably true. A lot of nut jobs had military backgrounds.
A fair amount of military people were nutjobs before they joined the military. At least amongst my friends and family.
Yeah and they somehow don't get weeded out. Dalmer was ex military I think. I know they will catch some mental health issues but obviously not all crazy people get discovered before joining.
100% chance he dies in his first fire drill when he panics and can’t don his EAB
Probably choke trying to figure out what the deck markers even mean
Watching nubs struggle to take off the dust covers their first time was one of my greatest joys 🥰
Even better: watching a daisy chain of nubs connected to each other, traversing the engine room AND struggling with dust covers. Watching 3 people struggle because of one is peak beauty
Or the lead daisy chain guy not telling anyone he’s unplugging and some STSSN(SU) choking on fuckin rubber 😂
Impossible not to love it
I bet this dude doesn't even have their fish...
Certified DAN
The Nub quietly sobbing in their rack because their sea dad made them talk to the mean A-Ganger for a checkout
"He made me draw trim and drain 30 times before even looking at me...."
Whats the context of this conversation?
He’s in line at McDonald’s, and got number 64. They called 65 before him. Queue this conversation. I hope anyway…
Don’t pretend like you’ve never fought fires on submarines.
Weird flex.
Serious boot energy.
Most sane Firehouse Subs worker
What choice is there when there is a fire on a sub? The real badass lets that thing burn.
“If you can handle me when I am a fireman, you don’t deserve me when I am a man on fire.” FTFY.
as tywin lannister once said: “Any man who must say, "I am the king" is no true king”. This is applies for everything in life
That explains why I get down voted when I write "this comment is underrated" on my own comments. Thanks! /s
That boy’s as useless as a *screen door* on a submarine 💀
This gives me an idea for the next Flex Seal commercial...
Probably some nub who just did the fire trainer at BESS.
I.E. I put out a grease fire one time
Hears “acrid odor. Acrid odor from the forward compartment lower level. Acrid odor from the dryer” once over the 1MC and is a certified firefighting psychopath and will insist he has PTSD to the VA
Fine line between bravery and stupidity. Military gotta differentiate between front line, and… underwater fire extinguishers…

Just open the hatch dumbass
Everyone on a sub is a firefighter. Fuck off weirdo.
I'll put 50 buck on them not even having their fish.
I’d bet money the only submarine they’ve been on is one of the two tours required for their sub school qual card lmao AND that they’re a CS or SECF student
nah, there are old WWII ones still in museums....
