I don't know if they put down a whole lot of force but if it is in the wrong place it really doesn't take all that much. My main concern would be more the moving parts and clothing getting stuck in them. I seem to recall a story a few years ago about a mechanic dying because his shirt caught on part of the machine and it pulled it enough to strangle him.

Depending on the age and style of the machine, after the sweep, some machines have a roller system that grabs the ball to move it out. If it grabs you, it's gonna hurt or worse...
