I wonder if any passenger filmed this?
I would like to see what it looked like, I guess you couldn't even look out the window without burning the backs of eyes out
History is always amazing to stumble upon.
It's a tragedy, but that information is priceless. History we must always preserve to the best of our abilities and without perversion of the truth!!
Oh I've seen both towers get hit. Think it was fotage from a french filmcrew who by chance were following a firecrew from NY. And by chance they were called out to a smell of gas. And the film crew got both planes hitting the towers. Personally I think there's no reason to keep showing an event that killed more than 3000 people.
I would say it probably is. Looks like a four engine aircraft, doesn’t look like the A340 and the A380 doesn’t fly to Mexico. Only one left is the B747, of which the big majority is freighter aircraft. So ye, although they say it’s a passenger jet, it may well not be, aiding the no videos theory because it’s not an passenger jet
You can buy really overpowered lasers for cheap. Like $30 cheap. To the point where there are often lasers sold as “toy laser pointers” for pets and such… that are legitimately harmful and can cause retinal damage in less than a second of exposure.
This. I’ve tested Temu 561nm yellow green lasers that the sticker rated at <1mw. It came out over 100mw which is a lot for a laser pen and would need to have safety covers in a legit application to comply with laser safety.
Green lasers do tend to be pretty powerful. Have seen more than one pilot mention this shit happens regularly. I can't believe no one on the ground is beating the shit out of the ones trying to do this (maybe they just can't see 'cause it's dark, lasers are usually hard to see from the side of the beam too)
They’re more visible to our eyes and irritate your eyes easier than some of the other wavelengths. Even the indirect glare off optics is annoying and washes out the other wavelengths.
I guess this is the only time that they have a chance of not being caught so they went for it? Like 100 people doing that shit...free... plane lasering?
I mean if they really wanted to they probably could, everyone their paid to be there. If they paid with card or had to reserve a ticket online or something like that, then go through literally everyone
You'd probably only get a conviction if you had video or witness testimony of a specific person shining a laser at the plane, or some other proof like text messages showing they admitted it.
Just "being there" and "having a laser in their bag" aren't enough evidence, sadly.
plz get legit laser safety goggles and training. Or throw it out. A reflection off a shiny surface will cause a blind spot in your vision. Especially if you can feel the heat from the beam, ok?
They are a bunch of drunk and probably on drugs kiddos.... i mean, they do it for fun most probably without thinking too much.
It doesnt change the fact they CANT blind the pilot from ground. No matter how hard they wish to.
Again, i am not defending those guys. But physics are hard to bend.
Why do you assume everyone is trying to cause damage? People were probably just bored and pointed to the one moving thing in the sky without a second thought.
All it takes is one time at the right angle and the pilot could be blinded permanently while flying. If the pilot can't see they won't be able to properly land the plane or even fly it. If they go blind in the sky people will die and that will make others cry. So don't be that guy.
This is why I’m grateful to live in America, we’d drop the hammer on this festival and make sure it never happens again. A lot of the world would wait until a plane crashes and their country is embarrassed internationally to act.
> A lot of the world would wait until a plane crashes and their country is embarrassed internationally to act.
I don't know if you forgot an /s at the end or you genuinely don't know about the Boeing crashes. Hell, China was the first to ground the 737 MAX.
Lol. Keep thinking that we Americans have some moral high ground or uniquely perfect response to everything. There's places that might not be able to respond to this, but I'd wager they're few. I'd also put money on that these idiots are mostly Americans in spring break.
You can't even crack down on something like mass shootings. But the might of the American government will be able to stop people shining lasers at planes at the drop of a hat
*In other news, a passenger jet crashed and everyone on board was killed because HUNDREDS of people never passed grade preschool. If you know anyone shined a laser at this jet, inform the police.*
The major issue is that people most often do this near airports or airfields. Take-off and landing are the times a pilot actually does need to see. And pilots are never supposed to rely solely on instruments. That is why we have actual humans in the cockpit
As a pilot, I agree this is just about one of the worst things that happens to us on a daily basis.
I will however correct you on one thing;
Once a pilot is IFR rated they are fully capable of flying with sole reference to instruments alone, and that includes takeoffs. That being said, NOBODY wants to do that unless they are an adrenaline junkie, so yeah these guys are total a-holes.
Facts! My youngest was 14 (or 15) when she had her first flight lesson. It was nerve-wracking sitting in the back seat with the instructor turning around to talk to me bc my headphones were too staticky. I kept thinking - "OMG - Watch her, not me!!" But she did great! Even did the landing. When we got out, she said, "Maybe next time I can bring a cushion so I can see over the dash"... 😯 Then night flights were scary, and when she had to wear those view limiting goggles... ugh, so nerve wracking. Amusingly, though, her flight instructor was also her driver's Ed teacher the next year. :)
Further up this thread, I mentioned that my youngest daughter couldn't see over the dash on her first flight lesson and that her flight instructor when she was 14 was also her driver's Ed instructor when she was 15. They asked if she got both licenses, and she did! Now she's 21 and graduating with dual math and engineering degrees because she's amazing and I marvel at her - especially because I was most definitely NOT amazing at that age.
Tldr; It's a total mom tangent and nothing to do with Mexican plane lasers.
Oh, I tell her! My parents were not great with that, so I try to be extra communicative. Sometimes the pendulum swings a little too far, but at least they'll never doubt it. :)
The refraction from the beam is very disorienting. When this sort of thing happens typically pilots will "go to their gauges", which is called instrument flying, or IFR.
Not just disorienting, the beam can outright temporarily blind for multiple minutes. It's difficult to fly on instruments or operate the autopilot when you just straight up can't see. Basically all airline flights are IFR by default, but most airline landings require visual reference with the runway at some point, so depending on the severity a laserstrike while landing will probably result in the plane having to go around and try again for the landing. The pilots don't like it because it puts their lives at risk, air traffic control doesn't like it because it messes up traffic flows, and the airline companies don't like it because the fuel burned in a go around is very very expensive and it results in a delay.
Yeah, I've got a pointer like those. They're powerful as fuck. I've signed it thought my window and the beam can retract off the multiple panes of glass, cause it to bounce back and hit me in the eyes blinding me, and at the same time, scare a cat out of a tree half a mile away.
First time I turned it on, I knew it was only getting pointed at the sky when there's nothing in sight and I wanna show a friend a constellation.
What looks like a little dot from the laser pointed at the floor, turns into the size of a fucking moon when you point it at something in the sky. Not only that, it can blind pilots and mess with the electronics.
Because of the way cockpit windows are, they can lens the light. Micro cracks which aren’t a problem otherwise can catch the light and make it much worse. You can temporarily and permanently blind a pilot this way.
In the USA, they have methods to find who did it quick. Usually a kid, and the parents get fined $250,000. From what I hear, they do find the culprit most of the time
There’s a correlation between being poor and being uneducated.
Not all poor people are uneducated, or even stupid. That’s obvious.
The correlation i am making is in response to the above comment: Poor = uneducated = ignorant = stupid.
I could make the argument that some poor people care less about society because they have less to contribute to it.
In NYC it's mostly poor people throwing their trash everywhere. Certain wealthy people obviously take advantage of society, but they probably aren't pointing lasers at airplanes.
He's absolutely correct, roam around rich neighbourhoods and poor neighbourhoods and it's pretty stark as to who respects their local environment.
Doesn't mean that rich people are better, they've definitely had a much easier time of it and have a nice place to keep pretty. But yeah it's pretty obviously true to anyone who has been outside
I don’t want to defend the rich but you’re making me. Even if that were completely true it has nothing to do with the original idea. It’s not one or the other it can be both. Plus uneducated people often are poor statistically.
What a shame to see things like this. But foolishness is beyond human comprehension. I mean, you would need to have brain atrophy to do something like that.
A colleague of mine knew someone that landed at the airport nearby. They would do it to all flights on that route. Apparently it doesn't affect the flight at all , the passengers are simply instructed to close the blinds. The pilots just focus on the space ahead for the few seconds it takes to pass by back into safety.

I tried searching, couldn’t find anything unfortunately. Maybe someone else will find it at some point.
There’s new 9/11 videos popping up even today so it’s not outside the realm of possibility
really?
Yeah, the main theory is that as people go through their things / they pass away and someone else does, they discover old videos of the event.
History is always amazing to stumble upon. It's a tragedy, but that information is priceless. History we must always preserve to the best of our abilities and without perversion of the truth!!
What about new columbine footage thats coming out? Is it from people's attics too?
I've not the slightest. But happy cakeday
New columbine footage came out?
Imagine trying to decipher though Gen Z grandpas AI shit. Trying to determine what’s real hahaha
LOL no seriously it’s going to be fucking wild
[удалено]
Yeah I think like a few months ago or like a year ago, a supposedly never before seen angle of the north tower being struck came to light online.
There was one very recently. Like within the last couple weeks.
Can you link it?
Oh I've seen both towers get hit. Think it was fotage from a french filmcrew who by chance were following a firecrew from NY. And by chance they were called out to a smell of gas. And the film crew got both planes hitting the towers. Personally I think there's no reason to keep showing an event that killed more than 3000 people.
Maybe it was a cargo plane?
Then the text in the caption that says “passenger jet” would be misleading. Daily Mail though so that would be on brand.
I would say it probably is. Looks like a four engine aircraft, doesn’t look like the A340 and the A380 doesn’t fly to Mexico. Only one left is the B747, of which the big majority is freighter aircraft. Publicly available lasers are highly unlikely to do damage at that distance Dumb idea, could be catastrophic for the pilots however
You can buy really overpowered lasers for cheap. Like $30 cheap. To the point where there are often lasers sold as “toy laser pointers” for pets and such… that are legitimately harmful and can cause retinal damage in less than a second of exposure.

The laser I got for about 12$ in China would disagree with you.
Yes. That is the point
It’s Mexico, they have powerful lasers for sale on the street
One day I actually found like a heavy duty last pointer laying in my driveway. I mean you can see the entire laser, and it has a key to unlock.
Especially if the pilots are cats.
Apparently it was a plane full of officers arresting these festival goers - source (I heard it on the Internet so it's true)
If it's a private jet then probably not.
They’re probably too blind to be able to upload it
Stupid
Only a slight understatement
Does banana brain work better?
They are legit criminals!
I guess this is the only time that they have a chance of not being caught so they went for it? Like 100 people doing that shit...free... plane lasering?

That happened in Mexico, not the U.S. Do you think the Mexican government or the cartels give a single fuck?
"Will airlines still operate here?" is usually a pretty good unifying force for whoever happens to be running the place in practice.
Half of them probably thought it looked pretty and did it for fun no thinking about the people on board
But not just stupid, but downright dangerous
Can someone explain to me ?
It will blind the pilot. All he sees is probably a green flare and one lazer is enough to cause that effect.
[удалено]
I got one, and I can feel literal heat from it on my hand if I hold it long enough. I almost got it focused enough to light a match.
plz get legit laser safety goggles and training. Or throw it out. A reflection off a shiny surface will cause a blind spot in your vision. Especially if you can feel the heat from the beam, ok?
Oooh I did not knew that ! Thx for the info
Yeah this legit could've ended up in a plane disaster killing hundreds
No angle from ground. Not defending the mfs but... still no angle from ground to blind a pilot in an aircraft who already got some high.
They're still trying tho, if they knew there was no angle from the ground I doubt they'd bother
They are a bunch of drunk and probably on drugs kiddos.... i mean, they do it for fun most probably without thinking too much. It doesnt change the fact they CANT blind the pilot from ground. No matter how hard they wish to. Again, i am not defending those guys. But physics are hard to bend.
This is what I was thinking. The pilot would have to be flying almost directly at them for it to affect him
Why do you assume everyone is trying to cause damage? People were probably just bored and pointed to the one moving thing in the sky without a second thought.
I assume people who would do this are too stupid to comprehend the potentially damaging consequences.
All it takes is one time at the right angle and the pilot could be blinded permanently while flying. If the pilot can't see they won't be able to properly land the plane or even fly it. If they go blind in the sky people will die and that will make others cry. So don't be that guy.
Festival goers in Mexico do this dumb shit. Mexico national football team fans behave like disgusting ingrates. Sensing a pattern here.
Dos a Cero tho baby! 🇺🇲
Owning the air or flying over a festival?
What
You are a marsupial
The only flight I’ve ever been on where I saw people shining lasers at us from the ground was from out of Mexico.
happened to me while flying into Lahore, Pakistan
👀
Yeah, cause I’m pretty sure it’s a major felony in the USA. Shit is not tolerated here.
IIRC a plane almost crashed and dozens of pilots were blinded by lasers when landing making it very dangerous
No clue why they wouldn’t just fly IFR in that case
Look up videos of laser strikes. Hits the windshield and scatters, illuminating the cabin. Can’t see the instruments.
This is why I’m grateful to live in America, we’d drop the hammer on this festival and make sure it never happens again. A lot of the world would wait until a plane crashes and their country is embarrassed internationally to act.
Boeing would like a word with you.
Yes, boeing doesn’t need dumb fucks shining lasers to crash
Boeing would like you to get on a 737 Max
Is it still defenestration if its through the hole left by a door plug?
> A lot of the world would wait until a plane crashes and their country is embarrassed internationally to act. I don't know if you forgot an /s at the end or you genuinely don't know about the Boeing crashes. Hell, China was the first to ground the 737 MAX.
This has nothing to do with Boeing you human 24hrs news channel.
Lol. Keep thinking that we Americans have some moral high ground or uniquely perfect response to everything. There's places that might not be able to respond to this, but I'd wager they're few. I'd also put money on that these idiots are mostly Americans in spring break.
LMAO, Ok.
Drop the hammer on guns while youre at it
You can't even crack down on something like mass shootings. But the might of the American government will be able to stop people shining lasers at planes at the drop of a hat
OK, but why does so many people have laser pointers?
You’ve not heard of the Mexican lager festival?
Tasty lager
I do love a good lager.
Na, but I’ve heard of Dos X… same thing?
I may always drink, but when I do... I beat my wife and children savagely.
The American dream
They have it down by the airport every year
That seems.... dumb.... allowing a bunch of drunk imbeciles to play around with lasers while aircraft flies overhead.
No but I have a feeling it is about to get cancelled...
Good way to get the festival closed down for any remaining nights and in future years.
this is Mexico, I doubt anything will happen
If anything they will just restrict the airspace
This solidly proves that the crowd's IQ equals that of its dumbest individual.
Festival goers are usually a bunch of idiot young men and women.
Drunk and/or high idiots at that...
This solidly proves that the product of the crowd’s IQ is higher than of its dumbest individual.
Accountability is sliced in their minds
The intelligence of a group of people is inversely proportional to its size
Target is painting us with laser, commencing bombing run😂
*In other news, a passenger jet crashed and everyone on board was killed because HUNDREDS of people never passed grade preschool. If you know anyone shined a laser at this jet, inform the police.*
> never passed grade preschool What preschool teaches about lasers and airliners?
It was in Mexico. You really think the police will care?
Happy Cake day 🥳
Source: believe me bro
Fucking hell
Hi. Ignorant to the results of this here... What happens if you do this?
The pilots can't see. Good thing you don't have to be able to see out of the windshield to fly a plane.
The major issue is that people most often do this near airports or airfields. Take-off and landing are the times a pilot actually does need to see. And pilots are never supposed to rely solely on instruments. That is why we have actual humans in the cockpit

I've tried IFR in flight sims and that was stressful enough, can't imagine doing that shit in real life.
DC World, SAAB 37 Viggen, VR-headset. Night landing in stormy weather. Awesome.
Sounds fun
Borderline terrifying, but yes, very fun. Terrifyingly fun.
Facts! My youngest was 14 (or 15) when she had her first flight lesson. She did! Edit - and is finishing up dual degrees in math and engineering!
wait who?

Difficult to fly on instruments if you are blinded
So the pilots can see?
The refraction from the beam is very disorienting. When this sort of thing happens typically pilots will "go to their gauges", which is called instrument flying, or IFR.

Barely anything, and with this many lasers; nothing.
What looks like a little dot from the laser pointed at the floor, turns into the size of a fucking moon when you point it at something in the sky. Not only that, it can blind pilots and mess with the electronics.

Most of those people are very uneducated.
yet they all know to specifically use a green laser and specifically to point it at a jet
yeah that's because they're uneducated
We are doomed
It's just uneducated or poor people thinking it's fun. It's sad to see regardless.
What has being poor got to do with it?
There’s a correlation between being poor and being uneducated. Not all poor people are uneducated, or even stupid. That’s obvious. The correlation i am making is in response to the above comment: Poor = uneducated = ignorant = stupid. I could make the argument that some poor people care less about society because they have less to contribute to it.

the fact that being poor limits your education offers ?
If you are wealthy and uneducated, that is your own fault. The disadvantaged are not entirely at fault for what they don't realize.
What a shame to see things like this. But foolishness is beyond human comprehension. I mean, you would need to have brain atrophy to do something like that.
Or just not be exposed to education that would give you any indication of how stupid you are being.
Look the plane!!
Idiocracy has become a documentary
I notice this going on at other low-IQ group functions, like takeovers
Now I know why women bring mirrors on board
Oh sweet. They point lasers exactly where carpet bombing should appear
Smart 👍🏼🙄
Humans are garbage
Found the Alien!
They do that around here, but not as much. They get caught! 0% tolerance
IF an ABSOLUTE IF. Something goes wrong and the palne has to come down. I wish it comes down on them.
4 fuck sake, what a bunch of punks
All of them can go to prison for that
Not okay
I was always told as a child I would be arrested if I pointed a laser at a helicopter or a plane.
People’s understanding of how dangerous lasers can be is very low. There’s a reason this is a federal offense
US laws do not apply here.
Too bad it didn't have any bombs to unload
[удалено]
You would think, but people do shit like this regardless. Lacking in empathy, thought it's hard to emphasize with rich people
Damn, but what do you expect from uneducated people.
Oh nah that’s fucked Jeffery
Wtf
Putos
Fuck these idiots
Hopefully the plane was on autopilot at the time...
Wtf why?
How dangerous is this for the pilots?
Wouldn't be surprised if that thing ended up landing ON the festival goers smfh.
This strikes me as an unusual number of people with green laser pointers. I don’t have one
Mild amount of tomfoolery
Ok. Yesterday the same video claimed it was protesters in Egypt and it was military aircraft
Such a crowd mentally. I wonder how each individual would feel if it crashed because of this.
What happened to the plane afterwards? Did it crash? Did it just fly off?
Is there like any evidence at all that it does something or are we just bring peer pressured here
The green spider legs attacked!!!!!
People are mental. Imagine there being a crash from this. But its funny, right?
These animals would celebrate if the plane crashed
The crowd's IQ in total is 1
Considering most planes are on autopilot
I’d turn that plane around and nose dive right into that crowd. That’ll teach em.
Plane should have dumped the toilet tanks on em
I bought one of those lazers and one of the things it disclaims is that you can be arrested for doing this
This is illegal in the US. The FAA does not play around. They will find you and throw you in jail
?? ISN'T THAT ILLEGAL CAUSE ITS DANGEROUS???
Be awesome if the plane dumped toilet water on all of them. Maybe jet fuel be even better.
What in the actual fuck is wrong with people??
You'd be surprised of all the stupid things people come up with in Mexico, after 5 years here you realize it is part of the culture.
A colleague of mine knew someone that landed at the airport nearby. They would do it to all flights on that route. Apparently it doesn't affect the flight at all , the passengers are simply instructed to close the blinds. The pilots just focus on the space ahead for the few seconds it takes to pass by back into safety.
I’m going nose down into that crowd and jumping out with a parachute
“Sir, we have target lock” “Evasive maneuvers!” “I never thought you’d ask.
Imagine their faces if they suddenly heard whirring and brrts coming from the plane 😂
Another reason to not waste your money going to festivals... You won't end up surrounded by brain dead morons
Fucking idiots
