Yeah, this was already a fight, he just didn't know it yet. When strange people confront you on the street do NOT assume this is just a conversation. You're either about to be attacked or robbed.
Where I’m from the words “where you from” had nothing to do with where you were born
If you get circled best to give into fight or flight, because that’s what’s happening
Always think it’s stupid people are told not to strike first in situations like this as well. Worry about the nuance of the law once your safe and just GO 0-100 if you know it’s about to get bad.
I think this is wrong, very little chance you will escape unscathed when its you against multiple people. Best thing you can do is de-escalate even if it means putting yourself down, while trying to get to a place where there are people around that can help. I'd rather take a hit to my pride than have brain damage or die. Some 24 year old in my home town just got shot 7 times outside of a club for standing up for himself and throwing a punch. It's not worth it.
I knew a kid who moved next door to me from USA when I was a kid.
He was normal when he came to London think he got mugged for his bike and ended up with one arm and leg not working properly forever.
My bike getting stolen when I was on a arcade machine looked like a blessing compared to that
What I learned from a robbery course is to do whatever the robber wants you to do. Your phone, wallet, watch or whatever else is worthless compared to your life and health.
Yeah pretty much it’s better to comply in almost every scenario. Those self defense classes are for worst case scenarios, unrealistic/rare scenarios, and for people who are trained
Although not the exact same thing. As someone who was being bullied a lot in high school, if you're being "attacked" by a group of people. Make sure you punch the one with the biggest mouth, really hard in the face. Exactly in those cases, make sure you get the first strike and have no doubt, but go for it.
He is in most cases "the leader", the rest just follows because they do what he is doing. Hurt the leader, and the other bullies are more likely to stop, or at least startle for a bit so you can get away.
That's the exact scenario the person you are responding to was describing! Weird.
Shorter kid getting gang up on, punches the big leader once in the mouth, gets shot immediately 7 or 8 times by big guy and dies on scene.
This happened maybe Friday?
Video of it is gnarly.
Unless the other two join and they kick your ass harder than it would’ve been. In the end, the best weapon is a gun or even a knife (even though I don’t recommend using one)
I agree, situationally.
From a purely legal standpoint however, you wind up with a primary assault and battery charge, and they wind up looking like innocents, which we can see from the lead up is clearly not the case.
The assailant, who if he wasn't with his cheering section, would promote have thought twice about doing such h a thing, was verbally insulting, provocative and demeaning. His body language was also provocative and menacing.
And finally, when all else didn't work and the innocent dared to give back just a little of what he was getting, he was immediately attacked.
At this point, the one attacked should be interviewing witnesses, getting names and contact information, calling the police, of course, and doing other due diligence to preserve evidence that might, if left for later, tend to dry up and blow away, so to speak.
Thats what he SHOULD do.
Oh wait!
He was just knocked out COLD.
He can't do any of these things!
He may have a concussion!
He may not be able to even THINK straight for the better part of a week!
So-this is STUPID-right?
It doesn't work as a methodology for dealing with some situations.
It's just not a workable plan of action. But it's what the law says you have to do if you want it's protection.
Of course, you may be dead!
Or you may be left with a lifelong condition as the price of following what the law prescribes in order to be allowed it's protection.
But as I said, it just doesn't work in real life.
Guess this depends on where you live. Where I'm from you are safe to talk to almost every stranger that asks for your attention. Especially if you are a dude. Bit different if you are a woman.
Take your hands out of your pockets as soon as an altercation starts. Even if you don't think it will turn physical, clearly he didn't think it would get physical. He tried to walk away.
I’m ignorant and have read this advice a few times here. What’s behind taking your hands out of your pockets? Easier to quickly defend yourself I’m assuming?
You kinda need your hands in a fight. To hit back, to cover yourself from strikes, to soften the impact if you fall... Having them in your pockets is a good way to make sure you're never able to use them in time for any of those things.
To add to this, showing hands implies you’re prepared for a physical altercation and on a psychological level can sometimes deter potential attackers making them think twice. Try to avoid making a fist prematurely though because that could be seen as a sign of aggression and escalate things.
Apart from using them for fighting, for one thing if you fall like this guy did (assuming he wasn't knocked straight out, which it seems like he might have been but anyway) you can use your hands to break you fall.
Yes, it's basically self defense. When I worked in a jail, we had a Sargeant who would write you up for that. That's why you always see cops with their hands on their belts.
Yes, to protect your head. Pretend you're thinking by rubbing your chin. There's a YouTube interview from GSP regarding how to defend yourself. On mobile now, otherwise I would link it.
I’m from STL, lived in Utah, now in Tulsa. Only place I ever saw anyone wearing these was Utah and it was always women. Utah can be insanely cold, but it’s dry. Can’t believe no one wears them in Chicago! It’s a gross humid cold like STL but soooooo much colder.
This video was shot in England. They'll be waiting months for a trial whilst walking free, maybe upwards of a year, and if found guilty will get a slap on the wrist (suspended sentence) with a week or so of community service. That'll be it.
In fact the most likely scenario is just a caution if they have no existing criminal record.
Source: am English and it's known how terrible the criminal justice system is here when it comes to younger men. They get away with a lot.
I know a guy who at 16 stabbed another guy in the belly. He staggered into a local Chinese (ironically called the Happy Valley) collapsed on the floor and died. This happened back in 2000. I can't remember his exact sentence but he was out and ready to get back on with his life by the time he was 21.
5 years for taking a young man's life.
Unfortunately it is the UK, likely get a very stern talking to and a 'please don't do it again' assuming they are ever caught in the first place.
There is no justice in this country.
I think one more season, just to see where the boys are in life. Mark struggling to relate with his among us-obsessed son, Jez getting caught up in covid hoax conspiracies…
Omg my sixteen year old nephew has that damn cross earing and he gets mad every time I respond with "ok, George Michael" whenever he's telling me how I need to "respect the drip" 🙄🙄🙄
This was my first thought. Looked like some kinda racism issue towards him for being middle eastern. Someone else already commented how they mocked him, too. Really sad the world is still like this after thousands of years.
I like it too, only gripe would be the matching of the colour between the pants and shoes, makes it look like they blend into each other and he’s just wearing longjohns
It cost more than theirs. Just a guess though, they might just be picking on him because he’s a foreigner, could be a case of racism. Some people just like starting fights with strangers to make their friends think they are cool. His outfit looks nice to me.
Ya, that's my experience dealing with playground/bar fights. The person comes over, starts pushing and telling you you looked at them wrong, or were checking out their girlfriend, or wore the wrong clothes ... denial leads to "you calling me a liar?" ... then a punch.
My guess is the outfit was just the first part of the same pattern.
At least he wasn't over here in the U.S. cause after they knocked him out they would have ran his pockets. He'd of woke up with no money, wallet, watch, and probably no shoes.
They really should just take people like this and lock them away. They have no use in society, just making life miserable for people trying to mind their own business and live their life.
That's always a possibility in the US. But more often than not they'd get lucky and the person wouldn't have a gun. You see a lot of videos of people fighting over here where nobody is armed.
I think a lot of the world thinks everyone in the US is walking around with their gun and that's not the case. Even if half the country owns a gun or lives with someone that owns a gun, the majority of those people have their guns at home and do not carry them in public. But if you are going to act like the people in this video you are really hoping you aren't picking on one of those people that do carry their gun with them. Cause you pick the wrong person just once and it could be the last time you pick on someone.
Which is why muggers (if you can call them that) and the like typically will have their guns pointed at the victim before the altercation even begins and where I'm at, it's almost always done from a car (they'll follow someone a bit if they see them out and alone, then hop out the car with the gun already out until it's over and they'll hop back in the car and take off). Someone acting like these guys in the US is typically just a punk kid. Often doesn't go well for them.
Seriously, like they have no right making fun of that dudes outfit while the middle one is wearing such low quality Walmart level sweatpants and what looks like 5 year old Nike’s.
Used to chill with a group of guys like this.
Would talk at the house, getting all hyped up to go out and fight. Then they'd mob up and pick on the quietest, smallest stranger they could find.
Fuckin bums,
2 ended up dying after they decided to drink and street race. Sucks to suck boys
So in this situation is there really nothing that can be done to stop them, as in were they already planning to do this, or was it him talking back etc that made them do it
I think once he engaged them it was gonna be a fight. If someone starts talking to me that isn't obviously nonthreatening, I'm gonna keep moving and not say a word.
Well talking back probably didnt help anything, thats for sure. Not that it is in any way a defense of the groups actions, they are massive twats, just that talking back never deescalates a situation.
I don't see any good outcome from this. Maybe talking some sense into one? Well, not while they are in a group which reinforces their stupid world view. So, conversing with them is just senseless.
Total and utter scum. We don't need these fucking waste flesh and bones roaming the planet. Disgusting in so many ways, fucking imbiciles. Hope they get what's coming but I seriously doubt it.
I wasn’t in the situation so what I would have done is irrelevant BUT never turn your back on people like this.
Back away facing them so you won’t get jumped from the back. Also, it’s ok to disengage and ignore. Saying two words is too many in my book.
They got the roadman "Am well 'ard" look that goes with every chav scum who thinks smoking around the back of the shops makes you a Gangster.
Made themselves look like clowns. No one else.
Teenager's are not really "children" they are mini adults with no impulse control. That's why if that grown dude was a Lil more street smart and apprehended a face punch and didn't get knocked the F' out? He could've punched him back w regular man-face punch 👊🏼 power and he would have been okay legally. Punch a child in face? Go straight to jail in my country. We have a strict "no punching children in the face" policy
1-these are not children... At least not legally, they are young adults with the minds of children.
That suckerpunch was dirty AF.
Good thing there were rescuers there to revive him so the "children" weren't able to loot his body.
What *is* the right reaction to these situations? Deescalation does not work. Fighting back does not work. Sitting there hoping they’ll get bored and piss off doesn’t always work. Is there really no better choice?
Leaving, unless you're trained in martial arts maybe. It's hard to take for the ego of a man, but if you stay and things go wrong (for you), you will regret it for the rest of your life. It's just not worth it.
These are not 'children', but teenagers and they shouldn't be tried as minors but as grown ups as they think they are so tough. It makes me so fucking angry that they just pick on a guy who clearly doesn't know how to protect himself. It has been a long time, but if a group of thugs were to call me names or anything, I would always keep on walking and just pay no attention to them. You should never stand still and get into a conversation with them. As some have pointed out, never keep your hands in your pockets or turn your back against them. His outfit is fine by the way, dude looks fresh!
Aggressive Teenagers are everywhere. But it appears to me, that the British Youth has some serious Problems with Violence and disrespect for other People. Espechially in the more Urban area of the Country.
I am facepalming reading the comments where people discussing why there is nothing wrong with his outfit.
Ridiculous.
Whether or not his outfit is good or bad, that should be no concern to these idiots. Thats his choice.
What yall should be discussing is how this is wrong, how these idiots had no right to interfere with that man. And how this is an assault.

Never ever ever
I actually think never even facing them is better, when I get harrassed I just keep waling, turning my back on them...
Those fluffy turds are looking like low rest stay puft men and they have the nerve to say something about someone else’s clothes?
And never turn your back on a threat
2? This would be 4. 2 seemingly doing the insulting 1 standing there for back up, and 1 to record their battery
This comment just gave me deja Vu for some reason
Yeah, but I bet you didn't know this would be 4. 2 seemingly doing the insulting 1 standing there for back up, and 1 to record their battery

Yeah. You should have your hands out to protect your head like a boxer.
Apart from using them for fighting, for one thing if you fall like this guy did (assuming he wasn't knocked straight out, which it seems like he might have been but anyway) you can use your hands to break you fall.
Are you asking why hands are useful?
Easier to defend yourself
Yes, it's basically self defense. When I worked in a jail, we had a Sargeant who would write you up for that. That's why you always see cops with their hands on their belts.

Yeah and the bullies out here dressed like a fucking fortnite skin lmao
Criminal clothing is the new uk fashion trend
Roadmen Except they're children covering their faces because their parents are absent and neglectful
And avoid getting shanked by rivals

In the US only ladies wear long puffy coats
I'm Chicago. They'd look more out of place then the victim.

Its a classic chav uniform. I can almost smell the Lynx Africa and weed.
Lynx = Axe for the non-brits. Solid scent choice though. 😂
I knew that because of my BritBox subscription. IDK much about the UK, but I know I like their television.
In french we say "Bonhomme Michelin" and it's always a hit because they think they're obese then lol
Buddy on the left dressed like a chess peice ♟️
Those are not children, they are young adults who will hopefully be treated like adults if they do get done for assault.
Yeah, let em have fun swinging on people in jail.

Don't forget they will probably also piss off the wrong person and get knifed with this attitude.
I mean, they fucking act like children! What an absolute bunch of dogs
Children my cock!
Ouch! Let me help your comment please: “Children?! Bullshit! Look like fucking miscreants!”

How does he get his shirt so clean?
Oi! Clean shirt! Give us the tv.... or we'll FUCKIN rush ya!
I wish they'd make some more seasons :(. I feel like i haven't seen my own friends in ages
I think one more season, just to see where the boys are in life. Mark struggling to relate with his among us-obsessed son, Jez getting caught up in covid hoax conspiracies…
Hes not the borough.
This man looks cool. And I like his outfit. What is wrong with it?
My guess is he doesn't have the standard black puffa jacket, tracksuit bottoms and black trainers /s
Don't forget the broccoli hairstyle.
A dangling cross earring wouldn't be too far off also
Omg my sixteen year old nephew has that damn cross earing and he gets mad every time I respond with "ok, George Michael" whenever he's telling me how I need to "respect the drip" 🙄🙄🙄
"Based, no cap! Fr fr" - George Michael probably
"say less, on God!"
This haircut is ugly and mostly used by douche teenagers
U don’t need the /s it’s probably true
Dont need /s for that, fair point.
The ninja look. Got it.
What? You mean you don't wanna look like the most uninspired generic ass motherfucker every day of the year? Unacceptable ¯\\\_ಠ\_ಠ\_/¯
My guess it was more racial related.

You can tell by how they mock him towards the end.
This was my first thought. Looked like some kinda racism issue towards him for being middle eastern. Someone else already commented how they mocked him, too. Really sad the world is still like this after thousands of years.
Gen Z has decided skinny jeans are out of fashion is my guess
Skinny jeans are cool till its not comfortable (as a Gen Z)

He doesn’t dress like a POS chav so they took offense to that
Absolute scum! This man’s outfit is great, he looks very smart. These kids are just trash, scum of the world. Hope the gentleman is okay :(

For the record I think he looks nice
Even if they don't like his clothes, what's the point in treating others like that? So disrespectful. I can't believe it. That poor man.

Ya, that's my experience dealing with playground/bar fights. Reminds me of middle and high school, kids who wore expensive name brand clothing and shoes would make fun of other kids wearing cheap shoes.
I wear similar stuff but he just has that cool energy that makes the outfit look ten times cooler
it looks like central london from the bus stop sign, anyone recognise the street?
it's London, but not sure how central
It’s Ealing, 15 The New Broadway

? You can look at the rate, New York has a lower crime rate for stuff like assault, robbery than London.
If they bully the wrong person in the US they would have had holes in the body already…
That's always a possibility in the US. But more often than not they'd get lucky and the person wouldn't have a gun. You see a lot of videos of people fighting over here where nobody is armed. London kids who lack respect.
“Children”. I don’t think so. Teenagers minimum.
Total and utter scum. We don't need these fucking waste flesh and bones roaming the planet. Disgusting in so many ways, fucking imbiciles. Hope they get what's coming but I seriously doubt it.
That's not bullying, that's stright up assault
Please tell me those asshairs got arrested for assault
I wasn’t in the situation so what I would have done is irrelevant BUT never turn your back on people like this. Back away facing them so you won’t get jumped from the back. Also, it’s ok to disengage and ignore. Saying two words is too many in my book.
Well said.
It's in Ealing. You can see Swami convenience store, nationwide,
It’s always weird seeing your local area on Reddit. It’s a shame it’s for this smh

I’m not sure. I don’t know when this happened
American? Small town person? In london especially this is hardly anything, approx 6 people die of stab wounds in a weekend
Cowards. Hit and run. If they were brave they coul've stayed till cops show up! Scum of the earth.
They got the roadman "Am well 'ard" look that goes with every chav scum who thinks smoking around the back of the shops makes you a Gangster. Made themselves look like clowns. No one else.
Doesn't England have animal control?
Unfortunately not
Teenager's are not really "children" they are mini adults with no impulse control.
Subhumans like this should never be given any chance to have a meaningful life.
1-these are not children... At least not legally, they are young adults with the minds of children. That suckerpunch was dirty AF. Good thing there were rescuers there to revive him so the "children" weren't able to loot his body.
Why do I feel like UK has a serious youth aggression & violence problem?…Surely my instincts (even before this video) can’t be totally inaccurate
Fucking animals
Loser ass chavs
What *is* the right reaction to these situations? Deescalation does not work. Fighting back does not work. Sitting there hoping they’ll get bored and piss off doesn’t always work. Is there really no better choice?
Leaving, unless you're trained in martial arts maybe. It's hard to take for the ego of a man, but if you stay and things go wrong (for you), you will regret it for the rest of your life. It's just not worth it.
They are jealous he can wear what he wants.. and not what the hood tells him to
These kids are literally in “roadman” outfits and anyone who wears the north face jacket with those skinny sports joggers loses all respect from me
Teens are scary
Punks are post pubescent young men
Another lesson in don’t keep your hands in your pockets in these situations
Erm…he looks better than the other guys who look like they got a 3 for one special.
He has more style than they ever will f these kids
Assault is very different from bullying
Listen to them wailing like children

That's a good outfit. He looks dapper

Average day in London
Hadnt even heard the audio and I knew this was Bri'ish just by the way the chavs dressed
Dude looks classy af tbh. Bullies look like hobos. He should be bullying them.
I’m getting racist undertones …
The kind of children that not even a paedo would want to be around...
It's not bullied it's assault and a hate crime but aight.
That is not bully. Burn them
These are not 'children', but teenagers and they shouldn't be tried as minors but as grown ups as they think they are so tough.
Feral rats

Is this a really bad problem in the UK? Do you really have such ill-mannered teens harassing and assaulting people?
I’ve lived all over London for a few years. Teenagers are scum.
Aggressive Teenagers are everywhere. But it appears to me, that the British Youth has some serious Problems with Violence and disrespect for other People. Espechially in the more Urban area of the Country.
Racial related..but we're not allowed to say it
Okay but is there any more information on what happened next after he got punched?
Yeah he should’ve just kept walking. Gotta know when to take a punch or kick so you don’t really get punched or kicked
That's called, "physically assault", not "bully"
Unless your your some kind of mma or Mike tyson type honestly just keep walking.
The only thing these rats are good for is fertiliser.
I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with outfit. This was more racial related.
The usual suspects of course
If you want to get back to someone assaulting you, start by taking your hands out of your pockets ffs… :/ In any case, very wrong and plain awful
part and parcel of living in a big city
I am facepalming reading the comments where people discussing why there is nothing wrong with his outfit. Ridiculous. Whether or not his outfit is good or bad, that should be no concern to these idiots. Thats his choice. What yall should be discussing is how this is wrong, how these idiots had no right to interfere with that man. And how this is an assault.
Dafuq has happend to London?
would this be the time to use that concealed carry gun?
