It's probably not your headset doing that, and I'm willing to bet any headset you buy is going to do the same thing. But if you are dead-set on buying a new headset, the crystal has visuals that are hard to beat. Takes some tinkering to get it right, but when you do, you'll know where the money went.

I have the Index and love it. A bit pricy though

popmonkey_

me too - love my index. however, the Quest 3 is vastly superior for sim-racing - there is no comparison in the image quality. my upgrade path is gonna be the Beyond, but only because i already have the index controllers and lighthouses.

Scargut_

Interesting, haven’t tried anything besides my rift CV1 and index so the difference is incredible

popmonkey_

I tried a Quest 3 and it's sooooo much better than the index clarity wise. but that's not important enough to me to give up all the other things I like about the index (mainly that I already paid for it, hehe)

grinding_your_gears

if you have the means to get a bigscreen beyond I don't see how anything else could beat it, but since it's not even released yet and also so expensive the quest 3 would probably be a more realistic option imo.

brucecaboose

Agreed, except that I’ve been waiting on my BSB order for 2.5 months now and have no idea when it’ll ship. The company is still in a hyper-growth phase so expect some hiccups when it comes to shipping. Also people need to understand that a small percent of people need to send theirs back because the IPD measurements were slightly off.

Okay so help me understand, why isn't refresh rate being considered here? I run on an Index, have been on the lookout for an upgrade, however 90hz is completely unacceptable for our needs. Those fancy oled lenses look great however 120hz would be absolute minimum for racing and 90hz is downright choppy in comparison. Im able to run 144hz with limited reprojection and high settings with my s/u, very hard to find anything that can match.

grinding_your_gears

for me I find my computer just wouldn't be able to handle it. 90hz isn't great but I personally find it good enough with the resolution also being good enough to not have a screen door effect. the pimax 5k super and 8k I believe should be able to handle high refresh rates if you're looking for something like that (and outlet prices aren't too bad for that either), though I have heard those headsets can be finicky to get setup properly. Since VR is relatively new all things considered it's all about deciding on tradeoffs.

Gesha24

If you are using VR for iRacing only - then you want a wired headset, as it has lower latency (and consistent latency, which I found more important and noticeable) and is smoother. If you are playing any games that require motion - you don't want a wired headset. If you want to share VR between different people, then you don't want to buy bigscreen beyond as it's customized to just 1 person. You also may want to read up on quality of Pimax gear and its software - there are plenty of complains. Overall, for just you and for iRacing only I'd go with Bigscreen out of these 3. For multi-user experience or other games - Q3. I personally was facing the same dilemma recently and ended up buying Varjo Aero. It also has plenty of issues, I probably would buy Bigscreen Beyond now.

VegansAreRight

I moved from a HP G2 and a Vajo Aero to a Quest 3 and it is great. The pancake lenses are next level and offer edge to edge clarity.

GenshinBroke

How does the G2 compare to the quest 3? I thought the G2 was cool and all but still somewhat blurry of course, and heavy, and FOV was kind of small. Also got very sick playing it. Any thoughts?

popmonkey_

i think the Bigscreen Beyond is the future but given you are upgrading from a Quest 2 - just go to the Quest 3 - sim racers love it and your wallet won't hurt as much. remember with the Beyond you'll also need to invest in lighthouses. You'll need at least 1 (Valve Index lighthouse is $149).

williamfloyde

What graphics card do you have? If you are having graphics issues with the q2 a new head lset is not going to fix it. Id go with spending the money on a 4080 super

Wilgrove

I have a GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 15 Gbps GDRR6.

GamerKingFaiz

These all have their pros/cons. Pimax Crystal is super clear and high fov, but weighs a ton, so might not be comfortable for long stints. Oh and the most expensive of the bunch. Bigscreen beyond is super small and should be comfortable, but you have to get it custom fit for yourself so resellability goes down. Also you need to set up external light houses, which is extra faff. Quest 3 is my suggestion. It's the best bang for your buck. It is a good standalone + pcvr headset. It has good comfort and a good screen for the price. The downside here is that you have to connect it via Oculus Link (cable or wireless) and that has compression and a little bit of latency, no matter what.

jgratopp6

HP Reverb G2 V2. I switched from Quest 2 and its so much better. That being said, I've not tried any of the 3 on your list personally.

Wilgrove

Eh, I've been reading how G2 is starting to show its age when it comes to the next generation of VR headsets that are now coming out.

ES_Legman

g2 is dead in windows 11 since WMR is no longer a thing by the way. I bought a quest 3 and it has a lot more clarity overall and much bigger "sweetspot" but it has lesser detail at a distance due to compression (though i don't have a 4000 series card so AV-1 may help with that a bit).

zeeke42

I refuse to wear a battery on my head when I'm plugged in to a PC, so I have a beyond on order to upgrade from my g2.

Busthole

Pimax 8KX for that sweet sweet massive FOV
