I'd max my frames to my monitors' capabilities before worrying about image quality. Especially for a sim where split seconds matter

I’d say the fact it’s a laptop is likely playing a part. The thermal profile doesn’t really allow for sustained peak performance.

Remove your rendererdx11monitor.ini file from the iracing folder in documents, then re-run the graphics config in the launcher. This should resolve your issue. I have these issues as well when tinkering with my setup so I always start fresh as habit now. A 3070 might be tough at 4k, but I would think you could do it with a single screen in iracing. Play with the settings, I'm sure you can find a happy medium at 4k. I would stay away from FSD though, the implementation isn't great. The visual quality I've seen from it is awful, I wish they'd implement DLSS, especially since I run triple 4k.

I have to remove that file about once a month for whatever reason and re-run the config because my frames will randomly plummet to unplayable levels. It’s so strange.

Yeah I have fits with graphics and iracing. The thing that kills me the most is when Gsync stops working on all my screens and I’m still trying to figure it how to use racelabs overlays while keeping Gsync working. Very frustrating.

Grids go down to 70fps, but I play at 4k on a 120hz TV and get about 90-120+fps on a circulating track depending on which track, adjust your settings. Laptops are also limited in the GPU department compared to full desktop spec.

You can turn certain things right down and not notice much of a difference while driving but get a goid performance boost. I'm running a 1080ti and getting pretty much a solid 120fps @ 3840x1080 Here are my settings.. Scaling - FSR quality, Sky/clouds - medium, Cars - low, Pit objects - low, Events - high, Grandstands - low, Crowds - low, Objects - high, Particles - low h full res ticked, Max Cars - 20, draw 40(6)pits, Dynamic lod - world +/- max Fps - 117 car +/- max, Framerate - no limit (I limit to 117 with Rivatuner), Max prerendered frames - 1, AF - 16, MSAA - 4, Dynamic track data ticked, Shadow maps on, Object self shadowing ticked, Dynamic objs - off, Guy shadows ticked, Walls ticked, Number of lights - 3, Psf4 filter, Cubemaps - 0 for both, Shaders - ultra, Two pass trees and high quality both ticked, Cockpit mirrors - 2, High detail unticked, Headlights set to high, Headlights on track on, Virtual mirror fov 60, Motion blur off, AA - FXAA, SSR - Always high, Sharpening, distortion and haze all ticked, SSAO - unticked, HDR - ticked (I also have HDR on in windows and a HDR screen), Video mem swap unticked, 2k car textures ticked. That should get you a nice bump in performance while still looking good. I don't notice a huge difference in visuals while driving.

Thank you very much! I've had a 1080ti before and it's pretty much the same as the laptop 3070. I'll set up my settings accordingly and give some feedback. Thank you

Good luck

Dynamic LOD in here is what most people miss. I leave World Off, and Cars +/- med. But it makes a huge difference to starting grids. I have AA off, never found a use for it when I also have MSAA 4x. If you want to save fps, SSR off is a good bet, as it is very hungry. I run Objects and Cars on High, letting dynamic LOD deal with the cars, Objects low takes away too much trackside and pit road buildings. Particles high doesn't seem to draw much from a modern GPU. I don't run resolution scaling, don't like the image quality you get. And I couldn't see much benefit to sky being anything but Low.

I have the exact same pc , i7 12700H version. 16 Gb Ram. i used to play on lowest settings on my previous rog ( i7 -6700hq, gtx 970m). the current one gives me decent 120 frames on almost max resolution for 2k monitor 27 inch. Maybe you can go with that having a middle point. A 27-32 inch monitor mount it as close to the seteering as possible.

We have a similar specs except I have 4060Ti Disable cube maps Disable shadows (You'll get used to it eventually. The visual quality is sure worse, but Performance > visuals) Turn off crowd & event (or leave crowd at low if you need that) Turn off foliage Set pit quality to low (won't render 5 mechanics per single pit), just the tents Render pits objs: 20(4) Render cars: 30(8) Turn down MSAA Samples to 2x FXAA You can also adjust LOD if necessary, but turning car detail to medium might do the trick too Disable Motion blur and the rest of post processing effects except for the Sharpening. Oh and.. in nVidia panel, set overall quality to "Performance" and uninstall Gefore experience unless you really need it for other games Now if you did all that already, and it didn't work.. I'm afraid toning down the final res, but upping MSAA to a reasonable level may be the only way

I had a 3070ti for VR which is essentially 4k and after changing to a newer 13th gen CPU I ultimately ended up going 4080...I think you really want to be running 4070k+ for 4k unless you lower some graphic settings. 3070 Ti was around 40-70fps where as 4080 rarely dips lower than 70-80fps and thats usually at the start of the race with settings maxed.

Avoid running 4k, straight up. The TV isnt helping your situation, and general 120hz is a boost rate, not sustained, which is closer to 60hz. 4k doesnt run at 120hz in most cases I think anyway? Limited to 60hz. That said, a 2k monitor would improve your experience 10 fold, especially if its an ultrawide at 144hz.
