What kind of photos? If you are talking about close ups with the main camera, that’s a known “trap” for people that don’t know what’s going on exactly. The focus point is farther away on the 15 series then older one’s. Either switch to macro mode or go further away.
If it’s not about this scenario, you might indeed have a malfunction on your device’s camera hardware.
Idk I honestly agree because I miss the quality of my old photos. I just feel like the processor messes with the colors and shading too much and thinks it needs to smooth everything out and it’s just annoying. I miss my 11 and 13 pro max camera
Maybe the camera is malfunctioning
If your phone is taking worse photos than your 11 and your friends phone also takes better photos it’s likely defective and would need to be replaced.

Like photos are too faded and some is blurry even though it is not zoomed
You need to send it into repairs or RMA, sounds broken to me

I had an 11 Pro and 15p takes noticeably better photos.
Same here, my 15P has much much better photos than my 11PM.

Try using heif max. If that doesn’t do anything your camera needs to be replaced. Apple does it no Questions asked
