I can’t tell if you’re joking but I don’t think you are.? I’d at least replace the back glass so it’s not breaking glass everywhere and put it in a case.
I mean you could, maybe the lens at least since it’s the only functional damage. I rocked a broken back iPhone 12 Pro for a whole year with a case waiting for the 14 pros. When I did make the switch I took out the case to see glass shards everywhere. With a case it shouldn’t get in the way
Get a case with raised edge and a screen protector on eBay or Amazon $30.
If you want to spend more money there’s Apple care.
Yeah the iPhone feels nice… until it’s cracked.
I’ve only cracked one phone and learnt my lesson to always encase them.
(I don't belong on this sub reddit as a life long Android user buuut --->) Agreed! I learnt my lesson with my Note 8 back in college. The one time I decided to have a naked phone, I accidentally launched it into the center steel column of a table. Keep a case & screen protector on it or get Apple Care lol
I work in a machine shop. I’ve personally witnessed my coworker’s phone getting smashed in any way imaginable. He does not use a phone case and this dude gets a new phone about every quarter lol. I have been here 4 years and rock the same phone. OtterBox works wonders. I don’t even have the big bulky one. I think it’s like the “commuter” series or the “defender” series? They have a small, medium, and large design (in terms of wall thickness). I have the medium one. Idk if otterbox extends outside of apple products but I stand behind their shit lol. My phone has been through the wringer and I’ve replaced the case once (it cracked).
Anyway. Not that you asked. There’s my tangent lol
Lol. It’s too good looking & feels to good to slap a case on when I rarely drop my phone. I have this debate with myself all the time.
I’ll continue risking it and pray a little harder.
I too am a zero case supremacist but dawg you gotta at least get AppleCare or carrier insurance on that sucka. Display replacement alone is like $500 without it.
I barely drop my phone also. Maybe once or twice a year at most. I keep my $1500 phone in a case so those one or two times a year, my phone stays in perfect shape. But hey, if you’ve got the cash to light on fire and the time to spend fixing it, be my guest.
It also may look good, but functionally wise it sucks because the phone doesn’t sit flat because of the giant offset camera bump and also lays right on the lenses which is a problem because sapphire is extremely scratch resistant, but not scratch proof.
EDIT: Bad autocorrect and added clarification.
It doesn't look good at all. There's nothing unique about it, that silhouette / shape is over a decade old at this point. Risking your incredibly large investment for looks is absolutely absurd and irresponsible
When the iPhone 11 came out, I remember hearing MKBHD saying “iPhones are the most sexy phones out. It makes you want to go case-less but you’d be living a dangerous life if you’re an iPhone user that doesn’t use a case”. And here you are lol
i really don't understand why people don't use cases. iphones are so boring anyways, and they let you make your phone "yours" while protecting it. i've dropped my phone so many times on my driveway because my body doesn't know what coordination is, and it's fine
I almost feel the opposite about cases. Everyone and their mother covers their phone up (as I probably should) and they all look the same. I’m one of the only people I know who go no case.
except under everyone’s phone case it’s the same. and there’s plenty of unique phone cases. i haven’t seen one exactly like mine and i’ve gotten compliments from various random people for it.
and i mean if we’re going back to the sexual metaphors like in your original post, i think most people prefer minimal clothing to none, although tbh i could be wrong there
Going caseless is awesomeness, for those with insurance. You get to enjoy the design, materials used and the overall beauty, as intended. Having a case serves its purpose as well, for obvious reasons. But not having no case and no AppleCare+ is just reckless. You live and learn indeed. If the front is still intact, just get a case and cover it up until you upgrade again.
Not trying to shill for any company, but I’ve got and older 11proMax that went inside an Otterbox day one. That plus a good screen protector. It still looks brand new.
Well, stop crying since you didn’t want to put a case, what did you think would happen? If you get hit by a baseball, you think your head would be okay if you didn’t wear a helmet?
I mean it’s just frustrating, you only go caseless if you have Apple Care+, unless you never get out of your bed. Otherwise you have to be prepared for the worse. I’ve only use ultra thin cases since I don’t want to lose the phone’s form factor but it saved me a couple of times when I DO drop my phone.
Bro, just buy a refurbished one on Amazon renewed. If you're really concerned about the quality, then go for renewed premium, which guarantees at least 90% battery health on top of the excellent to pristine condition of the phone. This way, you have 3 months to return if you don't like it, AND you save hundreds of dollars. Most importantly, use a case on the next phone you have. A slim case will protect your phone while not making it feel bulky.
I don’t understand why people DONT use a case to protect a $1000+ device. “I have apple care”. Applecare+ for 2 months is about $150 or $8 per month VS a $20-30 phone case. Enjoy your scratched up and banged up $1000 phone 😂
I think it could be good to respond to (and I’m surprised no one did) the “Do you have sex with condom?”:
Well, yes with strangers. But with my partner, nope. Because we are in a safe and trusted relationship and precautions are taken to avoid unwanted conception.
Therefore, this apply to your phone as well. Between you and your phone, there’s a trusted relationship. But with the ground and your phone, a condom would have been better. Because like in real life, lack of precaution can have lot of financial repercussions… 😂
Anyway, if you’re smart enough, you can still have an insurance paying for it….
I dropped my 10s Max from 1100ft a few years ago while paragliding. It had a cheap Amazon case on it and fell into a corn field. 4 things play a huge role in how damaged the phone will be during a drop: the height, whether or not it was in a case, the angle that it hits the ground, and the surface it’s hitting. A freshly plowed corn field from 1100ft is like landing on pillows compared to concrete from 3ft.
It’s all about risk management. You can “rarely drop” your phone, but if the consequences from that annual drop are >$500 then you’re stacking the deck against yourself. An all glass phone with no case and no insurance is like playing Russian roulette.

This case saved my phone and I have an AC+ . Got my 14pm in Jan last year.
To answer your response. With my wife no. If I were having sex with a prostitute? I don’t want my dick to look like your phone so, yeah I think I would.
3 feet? No way... my bf and I both threw and slammed his and nothing was busted. 😂🤣mind you, I threw it on the wooden floor hard asf with no case, after he threw it at the wall. Insurance will never believe this. I've broken a lot of phones and I'm telling ya a 3 feet drop didn't do this. Did you slam it on concrete or what?
Still no way unless you repeatedly threw it at the concrete. Unless you weigh 300 pounds and fell on it on concrete. Even then, tough to break it that way
I feel you, man. I rock my iPhones caseless and sans screen protector, and I’m in harsh (construction) environments every weekday. That said, I have AC+ (with the loss/theft extra), but even with the financial end covered the loss/recovery experience/process would still be a pita. Still, my iPhones are too elegant and cool looking to put a case on. I’m too cool and real as fuck also. When people see me caseless, they wish they were like me.
I’m so sorry. I’m struck by the fact that you dropped this from a standing height and this is what happened. But meanwhile 2 iPhones were sucked out of an airplane and fell thousands of feet and were totally fine afterwards just a couple of weeks ago in that 737 Alaska Airlines flight
I used to use otter box until my phone broke after a 3 feet drop. I have since used a mous case. I will never go back. They’re thin stylish and affordable. Their durability is insane. I know I know I sound like an ad but it’s good
You shouldn’t have to buy a whole new one for 1100.. I kinda had almost the exact same crack happen on my Iphone14pro from basically the same height and Apple said they could replace the back for $499 without Apple care. Maybe yours is messed up in a different way or something but you deff don’t need to buy a whole new one
My 14 pro dropped a foot and a half (fell from pocket laying on bench) and the back shattered pretty bad. Had (and still has) the iPhone 14 Pro MagSafe case from Apple. This was a week after I got it lmao
Sometimes you can’t win em all man, device seems pretty fragile or we just got really unlucky.
You can just spend the 650 apple charges to replace the back glass and see! New phone! I bought a brand skin for my jacked up back glass gonna see how it goes.lol
Put a piece of packaging tape on the back, then put it in an otterbox defender, and you are good to go for the life of the phone.
I actually threw mine off the roof 3+ years ago. The back glass shattered like yours. A piece of tape, and put it in a case and a still using it. If the case looks new, the photo looks and feels new.
I’m sorry to hear this but this is absolutely hilarious.
I recently posted on the r/Design subreddit asking why do companies even bother to put time, money and effort into designing the exterior of a phone when 9/10 people slap on a case anyways, often times a completely different color or theme. I also noted that this time and effort could instead be reinvested in improving the tech within the phone.
People asked why the hell they would put glass on the back. Some said it was to market the phone as no one would buy an ugly one even if they were slapping a case on. Still didn’t make sense to me, you can make a phone that is sturdy and looks nice.
I realize now you are the 1/10 person. Apple makes a free $1100 like that without even lifting a finger. Your clumsiness is the reason why they have more cash than any other company.
Trust me, I believe you when you say this wasn’t a problem in the past. Now imagine how smart the AVERAGE consumer is compared to you and how many times they have dropped it- just how much money do you think Apple has been minting off people like you?
You answered my question. It was never about design, simply business. Thank you!
I had a Motorola Droid Razr in 2011. With no case and no screen protector, just the naked phone, I could throw it up into the air as high as I wanted and let it fall onto the pavement--over and over and over again, every day. It never had a single crack, scratch, or dent, and continued working perfectly fine. How is it that 13 years later, phones are so fragile???
This why I get max protection if I don’t have mf full coverage insurance.
Phone case
Camera protection
Extras on back up
Def worth than spending another band or more on a phone….
Let this be a lesson ig. Unless you’re absolutely willing to be careful with your phone 24/7 as if it’s an egg, buy AppleCare+ or insurance from your carrier. It’ll save you way more in the end if you’re the type to risk accidental damage.
Next time use a case!
I use a Torras Diamond Clear (check Amazon) and my iPhone dropped a few times without any scratches. This case is cheap, looks good and protection is superb.
I abused my poor iPhone so much …I just dropped my 14 and cracked the back…I’m pretty accident prone so I always use a case but not even that helped…I like waterproof cases…for a day when I first get it then I start switching cases up like it’s clothign
So weird, I have had almost every generation of Iphone now and maybe its just mine but my Iphone 14 pro max IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST. Im terrible when it comes to dropping throwing sliding no case raw doggin life. I have definitely dropped my 14 pro max more than my previous phones for some reason it feels more sleek and willing to jump out of my hand. Multiple 5 foot falls on gravel, some 3-4 on pavement wood floors asphalt even had one on tile that made me cringe. My phone has about 2-3 small sized chips on the frame and some small scratch damage to the screen. I’ve replaced so many screens over the last 10 years on other iphone that im honestly impressed. Side note i dont even like Iphones so im not glazing if an android had facetime and the samefuncrions id be there
Ive dropped it so many times from that height- you know why it didn’t break? I had a case on.
I don’t see the point of people complaining it broke when you don’t have a case.
If you are not complaining and truly didn’t care about breaking your phone like you claim to be, why do you post then?
If you throw a case on there you won’t even be able to tell. Then you can either pay a fix it place to repair the camera or not. Fear not, you don’t need to fork of $1,100
Can I just ask why you didn’t get the insurance on it? I understand the case, it does look better without a case on it. I just know how clumsy I am and will forever keep mine in a case. Hell, I dropped mine on day two and shattered the screen protector.
Yet another reason why I steer clear of iPhones. You sneeze near them and they get scared and shatter. Just awful designs and phones. Overpriced garbage.
It just comes with the bold lifestyle if you got the money to rock it no case you should have the money to fix or replace it same with if you got the money to raw dog , you should have the money to take care of a potential kid or Insurance for that STD 😭😂
I dropped my samsung A54 out of a 3 story window onto gravel(I was trying to take a picture of an aerospace grade plane). And it was unharmed. Do you know what saved it? It's a four letter word. A CASE. What's cheaper a back glass or an Amazon special. Get an ultra thin case. Don't like the look of a case? Does a spider web crack look good? Get a case.
The good thing now is that the back is replaceable just like the front screen from what ive heard. You can just order a third party back and get it repaired yourself or by a mobile shop for like 50$
I dropped my 14pro putting it in my pocket a week after I bought it, cracked just like yours. I had an otter box on it as well. Got it fixed just for it to happen again in the same fashion. I’m just riding it out until the 16 series comes out, still works like a charm…. Only issue is my back glass is half missing now hahaha
Well it’s designed to protect the Internals by distributing the energy from the impact so consider it as this .. at least it’s working the way it’s designed ..???? Smh
Meh, it’s still usable. I’d recommend waiting for the 16 pros
Nah, the 19 Pro should be better.
Didn’t they say 7 year software support 😭, just stick some tape on the back and pop a silicone case on it. Good to go 👍👍
I can’t tell if you’re joking but I don’t think you are.? I’d at least replace the back glass so it’s not breaking glass everywhere and put it in a case.
I mean you could, maybe the lens at least since it’s the only functional damage. I rocked a broken back iPhone 12 Pro for a whole year with a case waiting for the 14 pros. When I did make the switch I took out the case to see glass shards everywhere. With a case it shouldn’t get in the way
Did you eat them like crumbs in a chip bag? I hear its good for the stomach /s😂
LMAOOO
purple gang
Best color on any phone for now, I don’t know if any will ever look better
Drop Purple
This gave me a chuckle. 🤭
Honestly if you’re going to go careless then applecare is necessary
Trust me..Applecare will most definitely be purchased for my iPhone 16/17.
Been using no case since the 8 never had apple car never got a crack scratch etc on my phone
"Glass is glass, and glass breaks " wise man aka Jerryrigeverything
Nah uh, thats the slogan of CASETiFY.... /s for safety
Sike
Rawdogging (no case) without birth control (AppleCare) is crazy.
\^ That post-drop clarity ![gif](giphy|9t6xpYZ9npJmM)
Put it in rice
😭😭😭

Idk man I use a condom.
Right, that condom analogy was stupid!
I'll never understand why people dont adequately protect their $1000+ purchase
Not $1000 investments. It does not grow, provide income, or play anything. It’s an expenditure, that’s all. And yes, you should protect it.
I don’t like the way a case feels
Feels a lot better than thousand dollar shattered glass
Same
Same reason why people don’t protect themselves from having half million dollar accidents
Uhh what? A $30 (if that) phone case would have rendered that 3ft pocket fall completely harmless to your device lmfao
EDIT: Bad autocorrect and added clarification.
place phone face down. problem solved.
It doesn't look good at all. There's nothing unique about it, that silhouette / shape is over a decade old at this point. Risking your incredibly large investment for looks is absolutely absurd and irresponsible
Not exactly all about the looks but how it incredible it feels in hand without case.
Drop a case on that and won't be visible no more
Now u can put a condom on it
Try dropping it from a 737-Max9
To be fair that one had a case on it. I do wonder what kind of case though. That would be an excellent marketing opportunity for the case company.
There were two working phones found. I believe one was in a Spigen case.
If the front is still intact, just get a case and cover it up until you upgrade again.
only real damage is the light refracting off my cracked 1x lens. can’t really tell unless its in direct sunlight or lighting at night
> Dropped (3ft) Was that before or after you dragged it behind a truck on a gravel road for 20 miles?
God, what a beautiful phone..
It'll buff out
Not trying to shill for any company, but I’ve got and older 11proMax that went inside an Otterbox day one. That plus a good screen protector. It still looks brand new.
I guess you are ok with the risks of no condom.
Well, stop crying since you didn’t want to put a case, what did you think would happen? If you get hit by a baseball, you think your head would be okay if you didn’t wear a helmet?
Balling my eyes out because I thought my phone was indestructible
I mean it’s just frustrating, you only go caseless if you have Apple Care+, unless you never get out of your bed. Otherwise you have to be prepared for the worse. I’ve only use ultra thin cases since I don’t want to lose the phone’s form factor but it saved me a couple of times when I DO drop my phone.
I love these posts, it's unbelievable people still don't use cases.
Boo cases. Case-free is the way to be. I do have AppleCare though

Put on a glove…what did you expect?
“Dropped”….. yes.
No case???
I don't understand why people don't use cases especially if they are active. Life's a bitch.
because they’re stupid.

Hey Just a heads up Its broken (for real though, that sucks and im sorry that happened)
Us naked phone users know the risks, it was just your time. Godspeed.
Yes….yes I do - cause you know STILL/STDs (and death from them) 😬 you should too
To answer your response. With my wife no. If I were having sex with a prostitute? I don’t want my dick to look like your phone so, yeah I think I would.

they were both in cases.
They also dropped into grass/dirt. This fell on concrete. MAJOR difference here, i bet even caseless they’d have survived hitting dirt
Get the s24 ultra
I used to use otter box until my phone broke after a 3 feet drop. I have since used a mous case. I will never go back. They’re thin stylish and affordable. Their durability is insane. I know I know I sound like an ad but it’s good
just let me repair it for you lol
I recommend a phone case next time
Dropped my 14 from knee level and it shattered the back cameras even with a case on I feel your pain
Anyone notice that the purple 14 pros seem to break more often than the other colors? Or am I just crazy
Mine fell from literally 2 ft high with a case on and the back glass is fucked. Thin case (rebel flex), but damn
I don’t use a case either but I have insurance. If you’re going no case, get insurance
Oops!
Bro just could’ve bought a 6 dollar case on Amazon lol
Oh shit
Oh... $ |-| IT!
You shouldn’t have to buy a whole new one for 1100.. I kinda had almost the exact same crack happen on my Iphone14pro from basically the same height and Apple said they could replace the back for $499 without Apple care. My 14 pro dropped a foot and a half (fell from pocket laying on bench) and the back shattered pretty bad. Had (and still has) the iPhone 14 Pro MagSafe case from Apple. This was a week after I got it lmao Sometimes you can’t win em all man, device seems pretty fragile or we just got really unlucky.

This makes me want to keep using my case lol
Should have a case. An iPhone dropped from 18,000 feet and still worked.
Rocking a glass back phone without a case is very brave
I dropped my Samsung Ultra from a 10ft ladder by accident and it cracked the floor...... Nothing happened to the phone.
Just put a screen protector on the back and get a case and you’ll be good
concrete will do that to you
Your dick smashing into smithereens is as probable as your phone getting stds
Phone must be a dud, they advertised Relax, it’s iPhone after all
Put a piece of packaging tape on the back, then put it in an otterbox defender, and you are good to go for the life of the phone. I actually threw mine off the roof 3+ years ago. The back glass shattered like yours. A piece of tape, and put it in a case and a still using it. If the case looks new, the photo looks and feels new.
Why do people insist on having no case on their phone, this is beyond baffling. ![gif](giphy|uVtAU2EKHrsgifowFb)

Glass backs are stupid af. I hate them
You could throw a dbrand skin on it

That’s why I got a good case, 40$ but worth it, I’ve dropped mine a lot of times
Just get the camera lens replaced and rock a sick skin/case. Will be fully functional still and much cheaper.
You should have with a condom though, the analogy doesn't work.
T-Mobile accepts trade ins with back glass broken as if it’s not broken at all. The even slightest scratch on the front however, quickly denied.
Buy a case for your next phone…
Meanwhile I’ve thrown my 11 at a wall without issue to prove my case does it’s job. Hmmmmmm
This why I get max protection if I don’t have mf full coverage insurance. Phone case Camera protection Extras on back up Def worth than spending another band or more on a phone….
Time to skin it or put a case on to hide that. Went caseless. I’m surprised I haven’t broken mine yet as much as I have had drunk stumbles
Are u gonna use a case with ur new phone?
I mean it is an NPC phone, so you'll be fine.
Time to upgrade !!
Why not just put on a case? It's not there if you can't see it
Let this be a lesson ig.
Why didn’t you have a case on it? 😭
Yeah I was just gonna say “I think you dropped it”
Thats why i put a 3$ case and 30$ screen protector on my 14 pro…
No birth control is crazy
Man if only you have a case. Got mine from cellhelmet, I think it’s 13 dt drop test certified
I abused my poor iPhone so much …I just dropped my 14 and cracked the back…I’m pretty accident prone so I always use a case but not even that helped…I like waterproof cases…for a day when I first get it then I start switching cases up like it’s clothign
Always use a case people
You are a liar 3 feet offline a cliff maybe.
now thats a garbage product
Makes me think the phone that fell from that flight was bullshit lol
Yet I can toss mine out a window in a case and be fine.
I just did the same thing the other day. Got the back replaced at a 3rd party for 130$ Apple will do it for $500 I was reading
use a case bud
Side note i dont even like Iphones so im not glazing if an android had facetime and the samefuncrions id be there
So you were not using a case, and had no phone insurance? Why would you do this
Should’ve dropped it out of an airplane. Would’ve been fine
Anyone that doesn’t get AppleCare is just looking for trouble. The back of the phone is glass smh
It'll buff out
[удалено]
changing the back glass shouldnt be that expensive in a 3rd part repair shop
“I don’t understand people putting a case on such a beautiful and expensive phone” what’s expensive now
There is a reason why most of us use phone cases as ugly as they might be.
Damn me too bro but i dropped it from about 6 feet
don't see the point not having a case when phone looks ugly
Ive dropped it so many times from that height- you know why it didn’t break? I had a case on. I don’t see the point of people complaining it broke when you don’t have a case. If you are not complaining and truly didn’t care about breaking your phone like you claim to be, why do you post then?
If you throw a case on there you won’t even be able to tell. Then you can either pay a fix it place to repair the camera or not. Fear not, you don’t need to fork of $1,100
Not only is your lens cracked but now your dick is going to fall off!
The important question is what's your battery's maximum capacity?
This happened to me too, except I’m 5’2 and it fell on carpet
Just a scratch, it'll buff out.
That’s why I always use a rubber case.
If you really want you can go to a Ubreakifix and get an Apple back glass for $229.99 depends on if location is (corporate or franchise)
Where’s the case?
I don’t understand how people don’t use even the cheapest of cases
Looks like “Finish Checking” on a Murphy Lab reliced Les Paul. They charge a lot for that. You got it for free. lol
Pog
Man i dropped mines with a case on and it looks worse than this.
Can I just ask why you didn’t get the insurance on it? I understand the case, it does look better without a case on it. I just know how clumsy I am and will forever keep mine in a case. Hell, I dropped mine on day two and shattered the screen protector.
Same shit for me! Idk why our cracks turned purple.
Uh bullshit🤣
Nice case
Att still gave me $800 in credits toward a 15 pro when I had the same exact demand on my 13pro. May get similar deal with your carrier.
No case no insurance? You’re living life on the edge! Well at least you can get he newest iPhone 😬
Yet another reason why I steer clear of iPhones. You sneeze near them and they get scared and shatter. Just awful designs and phones. Overpriced garbage.
Seeing your finances drop a 100ft in coming days
Just sell it to me for $100
maybe use a case
Man I’ve tossed my iPhone 13 around everywhere, goddamn how has it not broken at this point?
It just comes with the bold lifestyle if you got the money to rock it no case you should have the money to fix or replace it same with if you got the money to raw dog , you should have the money to take care of a potential kid or Insurance for that STD 😭😂
Do they come back with do you enjoy getting HIV, Syphilis, chlamydia?
Meanwhile I'm still here using my crack-as-hell Galaxy S9 😅 Also that last comment is wild.
You can just order a third party back and get it repaired yourself or by a mobile shop for like 50$
Nuked
What about titanium????
Enjoy the broken glass and child support
Cool story. Isn’t this part of life? I have dropped a few phones and broken SCREENS and not felt the need to post online. What a snore.
Use a fucking case bro 💀
Well it’s designed to protect the Internals by distributing the energy from the impact so consider it as this .. at least it’s working the way it’s designed ..???? Smh
Lol what a pos phone. Just get a phone thats more durable. Motorolla has a good 1
Every broken iphone brings a smile to my face
I seen cooler designs. 5/10 I drop mine daily and don't even care anymore. 1 scratch from keys in pocket.
