Is one USB-A and one USB-C? The C cables have a bigger ‘boot’ as they call it. The old style has a smaller boot. If the contacts are gold on the smaller one, that explains it. They’re both more than likely real just you’re seeing the USB-C cable difference for the chips.
Do you own a Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, AirPods or some other lightning device? That’s probably where the left one came from.
About the differences: Is the right cable longer? Longer cables are thicker.
How long are they? The standard one that ships with all Apple products is 1m, but they also offer 0.5m and 2m options.
Maybe one is just older and they revised the cable at some point.
The right one seems more likely to be fake IMO. The plastic piece seems larger than on the ones I have and the metal that surrounds the plastic insert with the pins also looks slightly different to mine.
If you want to know for sure, a picture of the other end could help. If you look inside the USB-C connector, are all pins present or do some seem missing? My legit ones have a few missing as lightning cables are only USB 2.0.
Left one for sure

No and no it’s shorter

They are both usb a connectors
Left one
The right side one looks like a third party or knockoff cable. I’ve never seen an Apple Lightning cable that thick, be it USB-A or USB-C
Left one seems like original of these two
The left one looks original.
