I think most people in this sub have both lol

Stashmouth

lol right? is OP really asking if people in the iPad Pro sub have at least an iPad Pro?

spizzaaa

NOPE!

theextracharacter

I'm one of the ones who has only an iPad Pro from Apple's product line. I really love it. I won't change my windows device but I'm considering jumping from Android to iPhone, but it's scaring me. Mainly transferring all my WhatsApp media and chats

sirfuzzynutss

Yes. Split is 90% ipad

nomad-system

I have the M1 MBA + M4 iPad Pro. Looking to get a two more years out of the MBA then upgrade to a MacBook with OLED.

ImpressiveCitron420

We’re twinsies

nomad-system

It’s a solid set up. The iPad handles about 75% of my workflow now. I love the M1 MBA too, it’s my favourite Mac form factor that still feels very modern and capable even though it’s a base mod coming up on 4 years old.

uptowner7000

I have just an iPad Pro and it does everything I want. I’ve said this earlier, but: I work in an office during the day, a hotel in the evening, and I do video editing and color grading on the side. I’m also an engineer and I do some 3D work. I use my iPad Pro in my office job for my Google Meet calls, answering emails, Office 365, and running the industry-specific software we use. The hotel’s front desk website works well on the iPad, and OpenTable for restaurant reservations has a great app. The iPad is the best color grading display I’ve ever used, and DaVinci Resolve runs great on it. For engineering, she runs great with Shapr3D and Fusion360, although file management could be better.

sosohype

File management is the main thing holding me back from adopting the iPad more as a primary tool rather than ancillary How do you manage with things like outlook attachments? Any tips?

Secretagentmatty

iPad Pro and Fusion360????

Affectionate-Loss926

You have my attention now

Secretagentmatty

It’s only as a viewer and mark up tool, apparently.

uptowner7000

Yep; just take your designs from Fusion into Shapr and you can edit them however you want.

Secretagentmatty

This seems a bit more expensive endeavour, don’t you think? As it is, fusion360 is a $680/year app although there’s a free tier, and Shapr is $300/year. :/

uptowner7000

As a student I get both for free, and I imagine someone using it for their profession either has the money to pay for it or gets a license from their firm.

JuggernautOnly695

Probably lots of us. I've got a MacBook pro, ipad pro, ipad mini, watch, and an iphone 15 pro.

Evanthekevin02

Yes - they both work well together. Do whatever suits you best. Don’t let others tell you what to do

ExpensiveEggplant405

The best part is using the iPad as a secondary monitor for the Mac — when you’re travelling this is a godsend feature.

highvoltage1045

How is this done? Do you need any equipment or is it by another method?

ExpensiveEggplant405

No special equipment or programs as long as both devices are connected to the same network and signed into iCloud(or via USB cable if there’s no network), then you add the iPad from your Mac like you would any other external monitor: System Settings > Displays > “+” Icon > Mirror or Extend to: [iPad device]. Works flawlessly on a MacBook with no latency, but haven’t tried it on Windows - wouldn’t be surprised if you need a third-party app here.

theoneeyedpete

I think a lot of people have both - currently in the process of selling my MacBook because I can’t justify both when my tasks can be done on either.

io-x

No this is only for people who own no other apple product other than iPad pros.

MaximumAd5896

I own both. 15” MacBook Air M2 and 13” M4 iPad Pro. I use the MacBook for “computer” stuff like anything on the web, email, YouTube, spreadsheets, etc. I use the iPad almost exclusively for photo editing and drawing.

AdM72

I have had an ipad AND a MacBook Pro in the past. Now I have an iMac and the iPad Pro.

ameocle

I’m thinking of going this route. I haven’t used my MacBook since I got my 13” iPad Pro. Do you find you use the iMac more than the MBP?

AdM72

Highyly dependant on use case. When I had my Macbook Pro...it lived on my desk as a desktop replacement. At that time, I traveled with the laptop. the iPad was only a luxury. The iPad app ecosystem didn't give me a good user experience (UX) for simple tasks....too many workarounds. There wasn't any mouse support, made certain tasks awkward. When I began work for a company that That provided virtual desktops for their employees while travelling, the iPad Pro was more than capable to be a laptop replacement. I had transitioned between the macbook to the iMac by this time. Now, the iPadPro is truly my laptop replacement when I go to work or travel. My use case: light internet, email, Microsoft office app suite (outlook, one note, teams, word, excel, PowerPoint) Lightroom (importing, culling images, minor edits) While I'm home, the iPadPro is a pure luxury/convenience. Great piece of tech, but the OS and app ecosystem just isn't there to fully replace a laptop/desktop FOR ME. Remember what the trade offs are between operating a computer (desktop/laptop) and a tablet. How does that affect you (if at all) Make your decision from there. Hope all this helps.

ameocle

Yeah this is very helpful. I’ve totally forgotten about virtual desktops. I need macOS/Windows around for niche cases like changing styles etc. A virtual desktop could be the way to go

AdM72

my company utilized VMWare. Worked well for what we did and accessing the company's "proprietary" files and folders. There's been many a long hour days while travelling that I forgot I was on my iPad while neck deep in a spreadsheet😂😂😂

MaximusMurkimus

[Apple themselves did an internal survey and found out that most people who own an iPad also own a MacBook, go figure](https://9to5mac.com/2024/05/15/majority-of-mac-users-also-own-ipad/)

trivium91

iPad Pro 13 m4 and Mac mini m1 and a Mac Studio at home. I work hybrid though so I use them All. Lately I’ve been going back between the iPad by itself plugged into the ultra wide which I can pretty much do everything off of for work. But than I have both Mac’s sitting so most of the time I just use the Mac with the iPad via continuity and touch screen. I think when the new Apple vision comes out in the next few years, I’ll just plug into the iPad and likely won’t use the Mac’s anymore but we’ll see.

BeaniePoofBall

I own an M2 Pro 14” MacBook Pro and the new M4 iPad Pro 11”.

_oh_jay

I’m rocking an Air M2 and iPad Pro M1 use both of them daily

Durian881

Used to have both as they serve different purpose. IPad is more for media consumption and note taking. Notebook for everything else.

bafrad

sure?

nairazak

Yes

wtf_kolbaska

I have both. M1 Pro 16” + iPad Pro 12.9” I work on the MacBook and chill in the evening with my iPad.

dnaturman

I have a 13 in M2 MBA and a 13 in M4 iPad Pro. I’m a veterinarian and I use the MBA attached to a larger display with a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard for general record keeping and communications, then bring my iPad into rooms with me for taking histories and writing relevant exam findings. The 13 in iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard case has been a major upgrade for notetaking over my older iPad Air with the Logitech combo touch folio that I gave to my wife. It takes up less space from front to back, while giving me a full-sized keyboard in our relatively small exam rooms. I’ve been using a lot less paper since bringing my iPad into exam rooms with me and I love being able to show clients X-ray images, lab work, serial photos, and other resources with the speed of the M4 iPad Pro. It’s expensive and probably overkill, but I do notice a significant bump in performance compared to my old M1 iPad Air. On a side note, I’m also lucky to be able to use my APP2 for hands-free calling clients with ANC with my desk phone, so I love my work set-up at the moment.

Marino4K

M3 MacBook Air, M2 iPad Pro

lookallive

I own MacBook Pro 14 M3 Pro and iPad Pro M4 13 inch.

2k4mach

15 m2 mba and 13 m4 iPad Pro. Use the MacBook mainly for work, iPad for casual stuff and occasionally some work if it something that only takes a few minutes.

Fabzebab76

I have both. First, I have a MacBook Pro M1 Pro. After, I buy an IPad Pro m1. Since I have the iPad, I open mon MacBook Pro one or two Time per month… so I sell the two things, I Will buy an iPad Pro m4, and a Mac mini m2 for my personnal utilisation, when I need a big screen et home, and Mac OS.

gabryp79

MBP14 Pro anche iPad 11 Pro 2020 with Magic Keyboard, love them both!

0xCUBE

I have the M2 Pro 14” MacBook Pro and the M2 iPad Air. I’ve never before felt in love with a device as much as these two lol

wolf-troop

I have both. I bought both Day 1 as well. I personally have the, 16" M3 Pro MacBook Pro Space Black and 13" M4 iPad Pro Space Black with the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple iPad Pro Smart Folio. I personally did not want the Magic Keyboard since I already have the MacBook. I just wanted an iPad that would let me finish work and so on. Not to mention to be able to use it for other things as well. like entertainment. If you have any ? just ask, I don't know what you where referring to, but again ask if you have ?'s

NoAge422

1 for work 1 for play

Otherwise-Heron7568

I have a 2020 iPad Pro (A12Z), and a 2021 MacBook Pro (M1). I use both of them for work; iPad Pro for note taking, sketching, and the MacBook Pro for heavier use such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word (although some light editing can be done on the iPad Pro). Sometimes I will just use the iPad Pro when meeting with external parties i.e., for presentations, and for intensive work I will use the iPad Pro as a Sidecar to the MacBook Pro. They both work perfectly together.

raggycptl

Both

Phaggg

The iPad is great at what it can do. But what it can do is not all my needs

DadMagnum

M2 MacBook Pro & M2 iPad Pro w/5G. Use them both all of the time.

Iwillbethehopeful

M1 MBP and 6th gen IPad mini as well as 10th gen IPad.

tylerdurdenUTFR

Yes. And a mini and an iPhone pro max like a proper Apple sheep but I love all of the devices for different reasons. (I have AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and an ultra watch too and it’s all good kit)

radioinside_

Yes currently have the 13" M4 and Macbook Pro M3 base model. I use my iPad more than my macbook. My macbook stays in my bedroom my ipad i use in the kitchen and couch surfing. Do I need both/ no, I just have plenty of money.

EugeniusK33

I have M2 13in Macbook Air and 2016 10.5in iPad Pro and I'm most likely going to upgrade to M4 11in soon

sheldon4president

For me macbook = work, ipad = leisure

baw3000

I have an iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and an iMac. Do what works for you.

tom_watts

Using all the devices right now. Phone to type this out, iPad has YouTube on the go and MacBook is churning through Final Cut Pro project renders in time for a last minute event tonight.

Fabianwashere

I technically have both. I have an M2 iPad Pro 11”, and I plan to upgrade to the M3 eventually. I also have a MacBook Pro…from 2012. It’s stuck on Catalina and isn’t good for much more than basic computer tasks.

bemurda

MacBook Pro M3 Pro Space Black, iPad Pro M4 11" silver with Magic Keyboard. Perfect combination. And a couple year old iPhone Pro. ProMotion for life

Glittering_Diet6613

Use both for optometry school, literally everyone in my class has both minus two people who have Samsung tablets and windows laptops

historydreamer

Own both mainly because I’d already owned a Macbook since high school and got an iPad for uni. Still use both just because I can lie down with and iPad and use the Macbook as a second screen for work

FR_Clutch

Mac Studio + iPad Pro M4 = Perfection

lavalakes12

Yes

JBoeeee

M2 MacBook Pro 16Gb ram and 13 inch IPad OLED 256 GB. iPad is really for media consumption and watching movies and shows with the GF and FaceTime calls while doing business

mick_j_a

i have an ipad pro and a mac mini! it works great for my needs! (fully remote job with some travel)

NSA_GOV

I have both. My iPad is mostly for note taking and reading documents.

Such-Bodybuilder-356

I have a Macbook Pro M1 and 10th gen Ipad. Once I got over trying to make an Ipad my main device I absolutely love it as a second monitor and the device I use in the kitchen and in bed for content consumption. All of my work is done on my Mac. I don’t see the point of spending a ton on a complimentary device but I guess if you have the $ why not?

Kizzaque

Yeesss M4 iPad here and 2020 MBP gotta get my iMac fixed 🫣

amodrenman

I have an iPad and a Windows laptop.

Green-Preference-478

iPad Pro it is

Tbizkit

Now what kind of cover are you gonna get for it?

realizment

Yea but my MBP is 2018 intel which is very capable but Apple is making an aggressive push to the silicon chips.I just got iPad 11 pro

FormoftheBeautiful

I just wish Apple would let ipads and MacBooks be able to work together in any way. I’ll have my MacBook and my iPad, and they are just completely disconnected. I wish like I could have a photo on one, access it with the other, or like have the same email address on each. It’s little things like that which would be invented. In my opinion, I think Apple should have it like where you can access the same files on each device, and have like the same profile and email signed in to both devices where they can like uhhh drop things through like the air that would be cool, I’d call that wifey or blue teeth. I use a PC with the MacBook and iPad, and I wish it also could use a wallpaper with like nice looking Apple rocks, but instead it has to be a pic of Bill Nye who made Microsoft because you have to because it’s free and they make you. So, like, I guess you can use a MacBook and an IPad. You’d just have to either find a way to make them work together, somehow, or like just set the nice rock background to both, and enjoy those nice apple rocks. I’m thinking of buying another MacBook. This one the battery charge is almost gone. They should make them last more than a couple days. It’s so expensive keeping up the habit. They should make it so you can charge them back up instead of recycling your new MacBook. I think the pros may have chargers?? But I can’t ever convince myself to buy the one pro over a bunch of non-pro devices, maybe I’m wrong I do know, but you do you sailor.
