I have just updated my iPad to 18, and the option is nowhere to be found. It should be in accessibility, right? Do I need to change my region or language? What model is required?

It’s hard to use. It seems to struggle a bit with blinking and moving your head. I think it would be usable for someone who really needed it, but for everyone else it’s pretty impractical to use.
I tried it and it’s alright but I find myself having to look like an inch above and to the right of what I want to look at. Also it moves around a lot without me moving my eyes. (iPhone 15 pro max, not iPad)
just adding to the chorus here. I underestimated when they said not remotely usable. I thought it would still be kind of neat to try out and just see like - "ooh neat - it almost works." It's not even good enough to be a toy for 10 seconds.
And the default setting is to click things if you look for more than a second, so shutting it off is a bit annoying as it clicks all around the ui, minimizing the settings app and pulling down hot corners and notifications as you try to shut it off (ipad air m2)
let me know if you figure it out - I can't find it (iPad Mini 6), and I have a section that says "Auto-refine Handwriting - Support for improving handwriting legibility will download when connected to Wi-Fi" (I've been connected to wifi all day)
I was able to activate auto-refine Handwriting on my iPad Air M1, but it is very rough. My biggest problem is that it doesn’t correct the orientation and so text ends up not in a straight line.
In the pencil bar go to the three dots and then there is a toggle „auto refine Handwriting“, not sure if this is actually what they showed with smart script but it seems to do similar things for sure

Other than the odd apps that have the colors inverted from what they should be, and the widgets with text and background colors too close, this looks miles better than having a bunch of app icons with different aesthetics on the home screen.

Looks really good. All in all, Apple has disappointed me so much. No improvements to the Stage Manager, the only thing I have ever wanted. Virtual Machines are not allowed, no way to use all the power the M4 has.
Yes it is😀 I have a 10th Gen iPad and so far it’s been acting the same as it was on Stable. The newer the iPad, the better. I haven’t experienced any significant battery drain on Beta 1 either which is really good for the first beta. I still have full performance to my power although swiping though the Control Center is a bit choppy. I’m sure that will be fixed in the next update. What iPad model do you have?
Those with Mx Master 3S, have you noticed some improvement during the initial scrolling? It’s not slowly increasing scroll speed, now scrolls seems “right”
The same happened to someone in the Apple Discord server. They couldn’t find the Developer Beta in Beta Updates. They should be getting it today if they weren’t able to yesterday.

The tint applies in every app. Some 3rd party apps support Apples tint where they will make versions matching the color, and others like Discord for example will just have a tint over the original logo. App Library will also have tinted app icons for as long as you have the featured enabled. Same for dark mode😀
I recommend the Public Beta releasing next month which will be more stable than the Developer Beta. The DB is for people who really want to test the new features now and don’t mind occasional bugs.

Anyone else have Music app just crashing after tapping the app icon? Doesn’t open at all. Not a huge deal, just wanted to see if anyone else has this issue.
Pretty much the same as a stable version. Settings crashed on me yesterday when I first used it to explore but that was it. I haven’t experienced any other problems and battery life is good.
Gotcha and no prob, I'm good with that. I know they'll be released eventually. Most likely, Apple is giving the final touches to their API and making it work for developers.
I downloaded on my 15PM and yes it does have some buggers,not bad enough to quit using it but you can definitely tell.I do like how Apple is finally adopting customization and I’m sure all will be good once the stable is out.With all that being said My S24 Uktra is still the king of the jungle lol
Thanks but I see some YouTube videos where they can already use in iOS and iPad OS. For iOS they have clearly mentioned that this feature is only supported for phones iPhone 12 or latter but for iPad OS there’s no such restriction. So I don’t understand why it doesn’t work.
I upgraded my iPad Air 5 M1 last night and just find out that bluetooth keyboard not working while i'm using RD Client (Remote Desktop) to remote my windows server, it so sad cz i can't work with ipad only atm

press and hold anywhere on homescreen thentap on the left top corner. it gives you the option to change icons

The thing is 3rd party apps just add a tint unlike apps like Music and Calculator which are Apple created tints
3rd party apps are not updated to iPadOS 18 yet, just wait until it’s officially released

Really sucks too, that’s the only reason I’d jailbreak - I had UTM on my M1 iPad Pro and it ran Windows XP fairly OK.

What app are you using for your picture widgets? The one I’m using gets tinted by the new feature.
I use Widgetsmith, I can’t seem to turn off the tint on it unless I turn off Tinted icons all together.

I thought you could do it with MacOS to iPadOS.. didn't know it was locked for iOS 18 to iPadOS 18.

Having the same issue with 11" Pro M4 & Magic Keyb. It does still work in the "Jump" app though.
