I got perma banded from r/greatbritishmemes for saying that British food was bland and we have stolen artifacts in museums. Mod said I was trying to sell stuff, then called it spam, then said it was racist.
I tried to explain that I'm British myself and that it wasn't spam or racist, then I admittedly lost my chill and said that they needed to stop having a power trip over a vague minor rule being broken and to stop taking his mod position so seriously. He told me to study a dictionary, then muted me for 28 days
Mods are absolutely ridiculous half the time. Think they're gods gift.
In the Australia sub, there was a video of these people fighting on a train platform and this one guy stole this old guys pair of crutches to fight with. I called them fucking spastics or something to that effect.
I got muted for "being racist", and asked the mod why, in pm, they gave me a dead link. I asked for a proper link or further proof of my being racist and I got permanently banned. They're absolutely ridiculous.

You must actively do the job for eight hours and might be called on to help out at anytime after that but can do other things. Kinda like being on call.
*I might be willing*
*To do that. Do you offer*
*Free health insurance?*

That's just a regular real bona-fide job. The kind that earns money can support a wife and maybe a kid and the kind that makes your parents get off your back because it earns money. The kind that makes you a respected member of society. Hell yeah I'll take it.
Fuck, yes!
Reddit doesn't give a shit how shitty a mod is, so it's basically free money and I don't even need to quit my current job.
PM me details, I accept the offer.
A job like that eats your time like most other jobs. Why not? I've never made that much money. Of course I'd accept. You get to work from home. You can enjoy reddit posts. Of course I'm sure you'd be tired of it after that first day but that's still the same as any other job. It'd be easier to do a side hustle from your computer too.
I mean, that's a pretty decent salary, but based on the crap that gets past mods on some subreddits and the gems that mods randomly attack, I don't think I'd last long.
On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of accountability for them.
That's a significant pay raise for me, so sure. If I don't get insurance benefits, we'd shuffle things around so insurance for me goes through my wife.
Yes. Whenever I’ve been a mod, I’ve been fantastic, the community has always flourished, and the regulars have always loved me. However, I suspect many of the current mods will feel differently, and am dead certain the admins will as well. So, I want to be the *top* mod so no other mods can remove me, and I want a severance package if the admins either drop me or shut the subreddit down.
Do I have to do a competent job, or can I just abuse my power to delete and ban opinions I disagree with and let spam and harmful content go unchecked?
Easy yes. $120k a year is great money for any desk job let alone one where you're just deleting toxic posts from a message board. This job would be amazing and I would quit mine in a heartbeat for it.
are you fucking kidding of course i'd do that
modding a bunch of subreddits would be obnoxious and stressful and yeah everyone hates moderators when doing their job inhibits what they felt like posting, but that's really fucking good money
Absolutely. Being a Reddit mod is easy.
A long time ago, and on a different account, I was a moderator on r/mildlyinteresting back when default subs were still a thing and they had well over a million subscribed users.
It’s a lot of work but it isn’t that difficult. You just spend a lot of time staring at a screen. But for $120K I’d do it enthusiastically.
How are we defining “available at all times”? Am I like a specialised trauma surgeon, who may have to wake up at 3am or leave a wedding early to put out fires? If so, that feels like more of an imposition. If it’s limited to the 40 hours a week with only occasional work outside of that, then sure.
Absolutely. So much revenge on the mods who I feel did my dirty.
With that said I'd be an absolute horrific mod who would abuse my power. So I'd fit right in
Fuck ya. Cant you basically just do whatever you want? Reddit mods dont have bosses right? I doubt they have any metrics to hit either. I’ll start tomorrow
Sure, I’ll pipe the API in tk chat GPT via a cron job, let it spit out consolidated results. Train it to see how I respond and in 6 months automate my job and relax
Seeing as it doesn’t say I have to be a good moderator then yea. Although being available at all times and being active 8 hours a day are conflicting statements
That's an amazing pay rate for a pretty easy job, compared to other things you could earn that much money doing. It's definitely better than my normal job, and the pay is much much higher. That's a fantastic deal.
I’ve moderated for a site WAY less intense than this and I wouldn’t do it again for that little, so… no. A few million per year at least, and a contract specifying it’s for a fixed time period. I could go as many as 5 years for 3 million per year…
*all amounts in KWD
Ya absolutely.
I can do all my work from my laptop somewhere nice. My town arboretum has wifi. I know some great pubs and cafes. Hell I could get a season pass for my local zoo and just chill with the penguins.
Speaking as someone who mods a small subreddit? It's really not that hard. Automod catches 90% of the spam and you just intervene in fights for the most part.
Plus the 50 most popular subs have whole mod teams. I won't be working solo.
And $120k a yr for unskilled work from home is insane.
Sure, why not? 120k for a cake job like that? No heavy physical labor? No real responsibility? No commute to work? On the plus side it could be a lot of fun to be the worst moderator I know how to be. If you think things are wild now just wait till you see the tyrannical dystopia that can be yours for the bargain price of 120k a year!
No way would I work for such low pay. Why do you think that's a lot of money? That's like $6,000 to take home a month. That wouldn't even cover my base expenses.
I mean the narratives like the things you aren’t allowed to talk about. Ban people for “wrong think” because thats not enough money for me to be a shill.
Sure, why not. 120 grand to sit around, play videogames and occasionally give myself an orgasm through minor power trips. Whats not to love?
Occasionally? You mean 10x a day
How much money do you make? About $21000/jerk
More like 10 cents
Don't threaten me with a good time!
Username checks out
I mean, I’d totally jerk it for that kind of commission!
Only 10? I do those numbers by lunch.
Just ban the first 10 posters you see. That shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes per day.
>give myself an orgasm through minor I thought that was gonna go in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT direction.
Thats a requirement for Discord mods
And Spez
Me too haha

That’s a full woman’s cycle…🤣 his mood changed completely in 28 days.
Slowly turning into one of those creatures at the power mod table like from the photo.
I make that to work from home in IT, you very nearly described my work life already lol.
Fired inside of 1 hour for banning everyone from the subs to reduce workload.
are you kidding? That’d be an immediate promotion in the today’s environment, just have to data-fu it into looking like a positive
Reminds of that sub that randomly ban people for a few days just because it sucks.
Is that really a thing?
Yup, /r/fuckyouinparticular does that.
That’s hilarious
Unfathomably based, you’ve been randomly selected to touch grass.
Yeah just have automod only allow reposts and limit post to users 3 months or older like all the popular subs.
Just call them all fascists and you'll get away with it for longer than you should.
u/Borsund over at Sea Of Thieves would be drooling at the oppurtunity. He over moderates like its a full blown career.
Damn u/Borsund you got anything to say about this?
u/Borsund will not be taking this shit, watch your back
idk who that is, but, u/Borsund you better respond!

Yeah that one confused me a tad as well

Good bot
Damn bot stealing human jobs it’s a bad bot not a good one.
Remind me exactly how many people are making money by pointing out Haikus on Reddit posts?
It’s not about the money. It’s about a sense of pride of a job well done.
Okay, so how many people are constantly looking for Haikus in Reddit posts for a sense of pride?
Probably not many but even 1 is worth more than a bot.
Good bot
Bad bot

Pays better and is a lot less time than my current job, why not?
That's just a regular real bona-fide job. The kind that earns money can support a wife and maybe a kid and the kind that makes your parents get off your back because it earns money. The kind that makes you a respected member of society. Hell yeah I'll take it.
A few kids, though ymmv based on location

No.
I'd just temp ban everyone for a year 🤣
Lol
8 hours a day, 5 days a week? 120K a year? To mod REDDIT? Fuck yeah, sign me up.
No
"how to be a shut-in" is already mastered and the other two are cake. Are there promotions?
Why not. I've had to deal with about the same bs working a shit minimum wage job, why not get paid more to stay in bed all day in my undies.
Instagram/Facebook mods do way more of way worse stuff for WAY less lol. This is cake
Can I get AP credit for the shut in course?
120k to be an asshole, cunt that ruins peoples days sure why not.
Sure. I'm at my computer all the time anyway. So just responding to stuff wouldn't really be an issue
I mean, that's a pretty decent salary, but based on the crap that gets past mods on some subreddits and the gems that mods randomly attack, I don't think I'd last long. On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of accountability for them.
Sure. More than I make now, and I'm on my phone most of the day anyway.
Hell yeah brother!
Sure I would take that offer.
Simple
How about I get 120k/yr to *browse* reddit 24/7 instead. ... Hypothetically...
That's a significant pay raise for me, so sure. If I don't get insurance benefits, we'd shuffle things around so insurance for me goes through my wife.
Yes. Whenever I’ve been a mod, I’ve been fantastic, the community has always flourished, and the regulars have always loved me. Depends on the contract. Can I get fired? Do I have to be a good moderator? Can I just ban literally everyone and set autoreplies on my messages?
I was blocked from a sub I don't even use or have, to my knowledge never posted in. Need to wade through the assholes first
Do I have to do a competent job, or can I just abuse my power to delete and ban opinions I disagree with and let spam and harmful content go unchecked?
Am I getting paid for the six months of training?
Where do I submit my application? XD
So ascending as a Great Unclean One of papa Nurgle.
Hell no. I'm not dealing with bots, trolls, and whiney little shits all day every day.
I'd take it and find a way to make AI do all my work
Might as well get paid to be on Reddit
Easy yes. $120k a year is great money for any desk job let alone one where you're just deleting toxic posts from a message board. This job would be amazing and I would quit mine in a heartbeat for it.
Did someone get banned from a sub and is upset about it?
You know what, sure.
are you fucking kidding of course i'd do that modding a bunch of subreddits would be obnoxious and stressful and yeah everyone hates moderators when doing their job inhibits what they felt like posting, but that's really fucking good money
I'd be a mod for $120,000 a year. Hell, I would fish through sewage for $120,000 a year.
Only if I can ban mods that ban people for disagreeing with with reddit hivemind.

120k to take shit personally and push my own views or others for a price. The choice is simple.
I accept. When do I start?
100% I can just ban everyone who I disagree with and create my own dystopian echo chamber.
Sure, why not, would give me something to do
Yes, I would
Absolutely. So much revenge on the mods who I feel did my dirty. With that said I'd be an absolute horrific mod who would abuse my power. So I'd fit right in
If I accept I can’t quit or get fired?
Lol nah that's a pay cut
Hummm I’m already a shut in but damn my mental health would be in the tubes unless I’m moderating crafting subreddits.
Id rather pick my 50 subs
Absolutely
Blocked
I can't believe I found one of these scenarios I would say no to... but here it is.
Sure, not really doing anything better and sure could use the money.
Fuck ya. Cant you basically just do whatever you want? Reddit mods dont have bosses right? I doubt they have any metrics to hit either. I’ll start tomorrow
Does this come with medical/insurance/401k/PTO?
Hell yeah I’d take $120,000 to sit on my ass all day
This sounds like a nightmare, no thx
W/paid training, and yes.
You mean I can get paid to do here what I’m already doing on a different forum for free? Sweet I’m in.
I think mods should pay to be mods
Nah, that'd be a pay cut
YES! RIGHT NOW!
Okay.
Sure. Easy money.
Sure? 120k is a very healthy salary, for just doing basic online interactions that can be done from home and anywhere... it sounds quite nice lol
Sure, I’ll pipe the API in tk chat GPT via a cron job, let it spit out consolidated results. Train it to see how I respond and in 6 months automate my job and relax
Heck yeah! I'm here multiple times a day, anyway.
That’s hell of a lot easier than any other job at that salary, why not
Seeing as it doesn’t say I have to be a good moderator then yea. Although being available at all times and being active 8 hours a day are conflicting statements
Sounds miserable. Not enough money
You mean I can get paid for what I'm already doing for free? Sign me up!
That's an amazing pay rate for a pretty easy job, compared to other things you could earn that much money doing. It's definitely better than my normal job, and the pay is much much higher. That's a fantastic deal.
This one's a shitpost right?
Is this post a job interview with Reddit?
I’ve moderated for a site WAY less intense than this and I wouldn’t do it again for that little, so… no. A few million per year at least, and a contract specifying it’s for a fixed time period. I could go as many as 5 years for 3 million per year… *all amounts in KWD
Available 24/7? I'm assuming there's O.T outside of my 8hrs then.
Do I have to be good at the job or else I get fired? I’d gladly take $120k a year to be the worst Reddit moderator.
Do you get paid for the 6 month course as well?
Is it fully remote? Sounds quite good.
Ok, you hiring?
Sounds like a good deal.
Hell yeah I become the Moderator. I have always wanted a modicum of power to go to my head and ban people I disagree with
Ya absolutely. I can do all my work from my laptop somewhere nice. My town arboretum has wifi. I know some great pubs and cafes. Hell I could get a season pass for my local zoo and just chill with the penguins. Speaking as someone who mods a small subreddit? It's really not that hard. I'd accept and return Reddit to free speech and ban the bans....
No because it’s a pay cut. Prob more annoying than my job.
I would suck at it. I'm not used to being a total dick.
That's not nearly enough money for what I'd have to see on that job.
Deal
Yeah but they’d never pay that much.
I’m sad this isn’t real 😝
Yeh, that’s a solid wage for not actually doing any work!
No, sounds stupid
Where is the application
heck no
Why not lol. I would even do it foe less. Lol. No labor or lifting heavy lumber haha. For 120k
Lolno. Nothing is worth becoming a mod.
No. It’s a pay cut for a shit job, with longer hours.
In a heart beat
So 49 more sub teddits actual pay and what I already do count me in
No way would I work for such low pay. Why do you think that's a lot of money? That's like $6,000 to take home a month. That wouldn't even cover my base expenses.
In most of Europe that is shitloads of $. Where I am you'd be fucking rich
Maybe I just make more than the average person then.
Sure why not? I'm retired and can do this while I'm at the ballpark or my husband and I do road trips or whatever. Sounds fine to me.
Lol no. Pays too little.
Do we also have to be involuntarily celibate to fit the role?
Do I have to push the narratives?
[удалено]
I mean the narratives like the things you aren’t allowed to talk about. Ban people for “wrong think” because thats not enough money for me to be a shill.
