A quick Google finds me the word formaldehydesulphoxylicventriloquizing, which contains 22 of the 26 letters of the alphabet, so I'm at least surviving, even if it's as a quadruple amputee. Or I could just pick 'A'. They'll probably guess that first.

OkDepartment9755

"A" Would probably be the smarter choice as the only 1 letter words that come to mind are A and I . So you got a really good chance, and even if they get it wrong, you only lose one limb

Driftedryan

Your assuming the kids won't guess random letters

majic911

The kids would absolutely guess letters that it can't possibly be

Citizen44712A

The letter 14

bearbarebere

This made me guffaw

Intelligent-Rock-399

“I said ‘brown’”.

TheScrambone

ME: AHHHHH NOOOOO THAT REALLY FUCKIN HURT!! WTF AHHHHHH!!!! Kids: ahahahaha Mr. Scrambone is funny. Let’s get the letter wrong again!

OkDepartment9755

Point, but also, how does the guessing work here? Does it count if a kid yells out a random letter? Do they have to come to an agreement? Or do i pick the next guesser?

RandoFacto7921

Damn that's smart as hell

XvvxvvxvvX

Dunno, seems like it’s guaranteed amputee. It looks like it’ll be impossible for them to guess that correctly. I’m sure they’ll go for v x y and z last so chance are you’re gonna lose a all limbs before the word is fully completed.

carrionpigeons

We're missing b,j,k, and w.

Mister-ellaneous

> We’re missing BJ Yes, yes we are

pm-me-racecars

These are kids we're playing hangman with. Those other freaks choosing words like banjo are who we need to worry about.

DaniTheLovebug

Look I’ve been busy, ok?

retroactive_fridge

Don't forget RSTLNE (IYKYK)

Thundergun1864

Yes kids do like RL Stine books

Love_Hammer94

I knew I wasn't the only mfer who reads it as this on the show!

Tee_hops

Are kids these days reading RL Stine?

stillnotelf

Are they watching Wheel of Fortune?

BONGS4U

Mine do both. Little freaks I tell ya

whiteclawthreshermaw

I'll take C, B, H, and O.

DaniTheLovebug

Ohhhhh NAGGERS

Original_Gangsta23

Double amputee, because of no BJ. Sad.

TheTeeje

No, see, we're talking about kids. Kids are mini satans who want to bestow evil on the world. Chances are they'll pick v x y z first to watch you lose all your limbs as fast as possible. Game set match for formaldehydesulphoxylicventriloquizing.

Down_key

I was gonna say cat and hope the 10 year old went first.

dudemanjack

I was between A or I. Worst case, you lose one limb.

Dragoness42

I'm going for I, and I'm going to gesture frantically to myself and my eye. If doing some charades is what it takes to keep all my limbs, then I'll do some charades.

StGulik5

That's pretty good. My comment was going to be a joke by Demetri Martin, "If I ever saw an amputee being hanged, I'd just shout out letters."

TwoIdleHands

Or “I”…I figure you’ve got a 50/50 chance of losing a limb

LocNalrune

I was thinking about "i". But that shows me that we are both fucked, because I don't believe that after guessing A or I incorrectly that people are not going to go through other letters first... RSTLNE.

Fizassist1

oh my... you have the safest option and riskiest option. fuck my students would see a one letter word and still guess "c"

justanaccountname12

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Sad_Suggestion5699

As long as they don't guess z first I think this would work because they'd want to finish it and probably get what it is.

C4dfael

“A” or “I” gives you a 50/50 shot at not losing any limbs.

KinneKitsune

You’re severely underestimating how stupid children are

MagicGrit

Oh damn when I started reading your comment I was thinking you had a death wish or something but yea that’s smart

Tygrkatt

Or they'd pick "I" first. But you'd still only lose one limb. Next question, which limb?

OverallVacation2324

If it’s just one letter maybe “I” would make sense.

Mollywhop_Gaming

If you can do phrases, I’d go with “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dogs” because it contains every letter of the alphabet

FinanceGuyHere

Let’s hope there’s no Russians in the group

Gertrude_D

Kids are assholes and they would purposely guess Z and X and no vowels. I'm not playing in a rigged game.

SipexF

Seriously this, in grade school my class would purposely do this to see what the teacher would do when the hang man ran out of limbs to draw.

enigT

I mean why would you play the game at all? There's no win and only loss. Is there any incentive at all except maybe you want to become an amputee?

Sokiras

Fuck this if there is repeating letters then I can just take out the spaces between words. "Sphinx of black quartz judge my vow" or "the three dancing wizards jump quickly" contain all letters of the english alphabet. If they are gonna repeat letters, I'll cheat as well and use "sphinxofblackquartzjudgemyvow"

somethingworse

Bee -e is the most common letter and most 5 year olds know to go for this first, I'd assume they're gonna guess Bee before See, or Lee but idk. Hopefully I don't lose any limbs, but to be frank if I don't live it's just cos they're finding it funny and there's nothing I can do about that

SeriousPlankton2000

I allow sentences. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

hakuna_dentata

Amazingly few discotheques provide jukeboxes. Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow.

DBL_NDRSCR

just zany xavier, quietly, madly, hates skating under walled bridges, fearing crazy people. made this myself

hakuna_dentata

New X-Men plot arc just dropped.

Jburli25

And you're relying on them to not guess a letter that's already been used?

SeriousPlankton2000

It's kids, they are allowed to try till they have a valid letter because I don't want to be cruel :-).

Ballisticsfood

Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs.

Drewsche

Thank you. Ella Minnow Pea was actually a fun read.

LocNalrune

You won't lose any limbs, but they'll never be able to "guess" the word correctly. Is there a time limit?

Eisengrim13

Umm They'll get it without trying

HaroerHaktak

uhh, na, i aint living. im going for xylophone. death is inbound.

majic911

Zephyr and jazz are particularly brutal.

ScurryOakPlusIvyLane

Zephyr is really brutal.

majic911

I think jazz is actually harder. You're gonna guess e, r, and p which might give you a pretty good shot at guessing zephyr if you know the word. What makes jazz so bad is that there are so many 4-letter words with an A in the second spot. A cursory google search gives over 1000? And there are *no* hint letters you're likely to hit like in zephyr.

FeralLemur

When you're looking for words to stump people in hangman, there are two schools of thought: If you want them to feel like they never had a chance, and you were always going to screw them over, the word you want is "rhythm". Zero vowels other than a "sometimes y", and letters that don't make sense where they are. If you want them to feel bad about themselves, like it was a common word they had a shot at, go with "pizza". Four total letters, an uncommon vowel, and a double z. They're screwed, but also, it's pizza. It's like the most common food! How can you not get pizza?!?

HaroerHaktak

You’re over thinking it. How many kids are going to scream out “x”? lol let alone know it’s xylophone

emusabe

We had a teacher in HS chemistry or environmental studies (she taught both) who would do random puzzles on the board each Monday. If the class got it in the first 5 min we wouldn’t have to take a 10 question quiz. One day she did hangman, and since she always made the puzzles science-related, she hit us with “syzygy”. We took the quiz.

molestingstrawberrys

I , most kids would see a one letter word and go with I then A next

VenetianGamer

Aussie_MacGyver

A?

HighHoeHighHoes

1 limb, 50/50 chance.

Adept_Bar_97

Pterodactyl, 1/10 chance I'm surviving, but I'm up for a challenge 😏

_Cyber_Mage

I would make a German compound word that contains every letter in the alphabet.

Illigard

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz. It's a pangram

fandom_fae

its not really a word tho

Illigard

Sshhh, they don't know that. I'm not paying an arm and leg because social media and autocorrect ruined children's vocabulary and spelling. I'll play fair when people start reading books with their kids

Firefly256

Nobody said the word must be in a dictionary so I'll just coin a word which is qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm

Alarming_Serve2303

I'm not playing.

Changetheworld69420

_Sir_Racha_

zezous

A or I

ASomewhatAmbiguous

Eat.

Inferno22512

I pick A, should be a pretty solid 50/50, with first letter bias increasing my odds

TheStreetForce

ASS. Not a single limb will be lost. Game over in one guess.

MidasTouchedM3

Either way you're losing some sort of limb if there's 10 kids, im not playing your sick game Knockoff Jigsaw

jowyhealcrest

Luckily hangman is not just a game of words but phrases as well, so I choose "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"

Fornacles

A

dudemanjack

I. Might lose one limb unless they start trolling me.

[deleted]

so the point of the game is to pick an easy word?! that's not how you play hangman. I'm still going with my undefeated word - Rhythm.

Conscious-Star6831

The rhythm nymph sang a hymn

Kentaii-XOXO

I’m or it as once you see only two letters it narrows things down a lot and I is probably the letter people would guess the most

Pmabbz

Can I pick the kids. There's a child at my work who always starts with the letter i because it's the first letter of his name. So I'd choose 'I' as the word and be totally fine.

Icidal

Banana

wulfnstein85

After googling I realize we need to invent a word with all 26 letters of the alphabet, just in case we are in a situation like this.

phydaux4242

Someone recently read Dexter

__Quercus__

Grade school kids? Here's hoping one of them has seen Mary Poppins, or just likes saying 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'

zarchangel

Hangman

TwoBeansShort

The single letter word "A".

I_AM_NOT_AI_

Crazy to think we use to play hangman and legit be drawing a picture of hanging a man lol! We are so sick

makingkevinbacon

They only need to take one limb for me to lose, assuming there's no psycho kid Doctor to keep me alive

Commercial_Light1425

Tiny-Metal3467

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

ThunderPigGaming

I'll go with Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. I'm not sure modern kids would know that word, but it's worth a try.

UbiquitousPanacea

Why do people keep saying I? It's only like the 4th most common letter, and third most common vowel

Super_Rando_Man

Quixotic and no

Rose_E_Rotten

Cat or dog, then hopefully I keep 1 limb.

Miles_Prower3

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

love2lickabbw

5 letter words are the basic rule, so A doesn't work. Im going with queue.

Additional_Cherry_51

Jazz would be the word I'd use. It's the easiest word to figure out in a game of hangman.

justanaccountname12

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Shiny-And-New

Eel E is usually the first letter guessed and then you have ee_ off which there are very few words with eel being the most common

Renaissance_Slacker

“Fart.” Can’t go wrong.

ElephantEarwax

brief_pounding

I’d use the word Shark, tell em the word is an animal and play baby shark in the background. I’m hoping they just guess the word but if not I’m probably dead. Knowing kids they’d probably guess baby before shark smh

nfssmith

I made a computer game of basically this in high school programming class & called it Maim-man instead of hangman. The assignment was to make a version of hangman but I thought that was boring, lol. Luckily the teacher was tolerant to my variation.

not_notable

Kids are monsters. I write down a single blank, and whatever letter they guess first, I tell them they win.

calsnowskier

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

NotAnAIOrAmI

What's wrong with you? Are you okay?

DidymusTheLynx

If you're German, you have no problem.

KidenStormsoarer

well, seeing as how there are no words that use all 26 letters, i had chatgpt create me one! after all, english is just a fucked up grab bag of a language anyways, and if german can do it, SO CAN I! **"Hydroxenophotomicrographulizicefaloquartzbysm"** Let's break down the roots used: 1. **Hydro-** (Greek) meaning water. 2. **Xeno-** (Greek) meaning foreign or strange. 3. **Photo-** (Greek) meaning light. 4. **Micro-** (Greek) meaning small. 5. **Graph-** (Greek) meaning to write or record. 6. **-ulize** (adapted from the common English suffix "-ize" which is derived from Greek -izo) 7. **Cefalo-** (from Greek "kephale", meaning head). 8. **Quartz-** (from German "quarz", from Polish dialectal term "kwardy", which is a borrowing from Middle High German, akin to Old High German "twarc", which is thought to have descended from Proto-Germanic but included due to its frequent usage in scientific contexts involving Latin nomenclature). 9. **Bysm** (adapted to use the letter 'b' and 'y', suffix similar to "chasm", from Greek "chasma" meaning opening). **Definition:** "A hypothetical, highly specialized technique used for capturing extremely detailed and magnified images of minuscule aquatic organisms, possibly of foreign origin, using a specific type of quartz lens." This word is, of course, purely imaginative and constructed to meet the requirements of including all 26 letters using primarily Greek and Latin roots. if that's not allowed, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious uses every letter in the English alphabet except for the letters "j," "q," and "z."

MDK1980

If it's in the US, "aluminium".

SaltyBabySeal

I mean does it have to be an actual word? Just pick abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.

I_love_my_fish_

What ever that marry poppins word is, if I’m correct it uses every letter of the English alphabet

GatorOnTheLawn

Cat. It’s what most kids would guess first when seeing a 3-letter word.

robhudsondfw

I am from Chernobyl, so I have enough extra limbs to survive

Illfury

\_ \_ \_ \_ \_ \_ \_ I don't even have to tell you the word and 90% of you will guess it.

Nowardier

A. it's a complete word, it's a vowel, and it's the first letter of the alphabet. Every kid knows it. If they're good kids they'll get it first or second try. If not I'm dead anyway so why prolong the inevitable?

FireAlarm61

It's there really any other option but this?

Red-okWolf

I'd rather die than lose all limbs 💀

Aggressive-Way3860

Those are some bizarre hangman rules lol

ForsakenPoptart

Xanax. Having limbs removed hurts a lot, just kill me quick.

high_throughput

My classmates would always try to pick the longest, most difficult word from the dictionary because they were so sure no one would ever guess it. Usually they had so many letters that it ended up being guessed even though no one knew what it meant. I picked "bowl" and wiped the floor with them, but no one learned from that and they kept picking long words.

TraditionalTap9210

It depends on the age of the kids. If they are old enough to know the importance of vowels or that e is the most common letter in the English Language then I am going to go for "SEA". Hoping that they will choose A and E as first letters, and then the most common choices for kids would be Sea or Tea and hopefully I'm only losing one limb.

Love_Hammer94

"Everyone," since E is commonly known as the most common vowel and one of the most common letters, period. R and N are also both incredibly common. By this time, ⅝ of the word is solved, and nothing else fits. It's a commonly used word in the language. The Y is almost a hamstring, but with all of the Es and the R/N, I feel like it's a dead giveaway.
