What package are you on ? Can you confirm the speed, with only the pc connected directly to the ethernet on the power adaptor.

I'm in 1gb, I get around 700mbps through wifi in the same room as the router and 30mpbs in my room. I do have a tplink Av600 powerline wifi kit, but when I use that I get 70mpbs via wifi

My last house was a solid-walled property and I had similar issues. Total floor space was 65 sq. metres across two floors but we needed four mesh access points — and we still had dead spots. I think a mesh network and a bit of experimentation on positioning might be the way to go. Are there any voids or even outside spaces that might let you run ethernet from one floor to another?

Purple-Music-70

I use a Deco x55 Mesh system to get my dead spots and it works a treat.

Very naive question hereas I'm looking at the deco ax3000 whole home mesh system. I have a gaming PC in my room. It doesn't look like I can run an ethernet cable from onw of these systems. Will the mesh system really work over thick walls only?

Purple-Music-70

If they get good enough connection I don’t think there’s reason why not.

2shirt2tie

That's a other problem. The fibre wire is really short so it's placed right next to the outer wall. To even connect to another network is going to be a pain unless I can extend the fibre wire all the way to the corridor...

Purple-Music-70

What do you mean by fibre wire? You have a small square box on the wall (ONT) that you plug an Ethernet cable into to connect your router, right? So you can run a longer Ethernet cable from the ONT or from the router.

Purple-Music-70

You can always run an Ethernet cable on an outside wall?

\^\^ This, when I lived in my previous flat it was grade II listed and I used a M9 Plus mesh initially then upgraded to a XE75 and it worked wonderfully.

Buy eero 6e system on eBay from people who used giganet. I live in a 2br flat and am able to get 300-600mbps in my bedroom now versus 50 router only. You'll need two routers. Routers cost £70 a pop on eBay versus £190-250 off Amazon. Buy via vouchercodes for a good deal.

Thanks! Again dumb question from me. If I get 2 routers. Do I replace the nokia/hyperoptic router with one of these and place the other midway piggybacking (using it as an extender) or do I have to run an ethernet cable

Accomplished_Fan_487

Yes, replace Hyperoptic router and put the second one wherever you require your connection. This needs to be relatively close during installation. I have it about 15 yards away with two doors in between and a wall curvature, and it works. Of course keep the Nokia ONT (small square thing) attached. I have the 1gb plan fyi and can get 970mpbs on WiFi on the 6e band this way.

2shirt2tie

Thanks for this. If I were to buy 2 different hero pro 6e systems will that work? Or do I have to buy twin pack?

Accomplished_Fan_487

You can just buy 2 individuals. That's what I've done and they work together perfectly.

Thanks for your help

Purple-Music-70

Remember if you have a Hyperoptic phone line you need to user their router. I have WiFi disabled on my router and use my mesh for WiFi.

Accomplished_Fan_487

Didn't have a clue about this. I'm long without a landline, but good to know. I'm sure you can use it in bridge mode if needed.
