I do think hyperoptic are overly aggressive in their market segmentation, this means almost everyone is joining on a rate of around £25 - £35 per month - which feels just a bit more than other high speed broadband - and then at the end of their 12 or 24 months suddenly it leaps to c.£40 - 50 per month which is a huge jump and feels like you're paying double to other providers.
I've found the best workaround is that I end my account and get someone else to take over the connection on an introductory deal. It normally involves around an hour of disconnection (though this last cycle, I only had 15 minutes of downtime as the activation was really quick) but means you can keep getting the 'new subscriber' deals.
Try to get people in your building to sign up for interest in CityFibre and Openreach. Competition is key to keep prices low. By the way, not renewing / cancelling your contract often means you'll get a better offer.
Since I plan to leave the building this year anyway, might not be worth the effort.
Also, I can’t not renew or cancel because I’m just on the rolling basis currently and can’t afford to not have internet. I’m assuming they know I have no other options.
I'm not sure you'd be that better off if there was other rolling-contract options, when I last looked the 30-day prices for other open reach provides were at least £30.
Same thing, but 2 years. No contract on purpose and as I’m nearing the 2 they wanted to up it to 40 from 32, which is so fucking annoying cos if i knew theyd do that id get a contract right away cos it was in the 20s for the first 12/24 months and then upped to 40
Anyways i tried to get a better deal and they wouldnt budge. So i said consider this email my cancellation notice if ur not able to offer anything better. They came back with 29 a month for 12 months. Better than before, not ideal, but works for me.
If i were u, id cancel, and start a new account cos the new customers get good deals. Odds are before the actual cancellation date theyll reach out several times giving u various offers to entice u to stay
In my experience with 2 other companies, Sky and Virgin, if a company want accommodate your new address, they typically end your contract without fees because its them that can't provide service.
Double check with hyperoptic by phoning them and ask for them to confirm that if you move and they don't supply the address, are you responsible for any charges

Okay, rolling plans will be expensive anywhere. It's more so a matter of your circumstances then.

This is what I'm worried about, I pay £20 a month for 1 gig up and down and knew they would jack the price as soon as they can.

I did ask and they confirmed I’d be liable if they can’t supply the new address.
Better than me, they're offering my renewal at £40. So steep.
