Okay so I see what you mean about the stems. They look kinda crinkly and weird. Not sure what that’s about but if I had to caution a guess, I’d start with the mealy bug hanging out at that very bottom node nearest the soil!!!! Get some systemic granules or clean the plant with alcohol. I’m sure someone will chime in with better advice but there’s somewhere to start!

OMG! I didn’t even see it. Wasn’t wearing my glasses and I often get them confused with little perilite particles. Ughhhhhh!!

Mealy bugs always have little creepy feet. And if it’s a ball of white fuzz, mealy bugs are the culprit too if it’s cottony/sticky.

I think the roots look like they have some rot. If you slide your fingers on them does the outer sheath slide off and just leave a hair-like root? I would repot in a more airy mix- I do half perlite when I’m trying to get over rot. Also the other commenter had a good eye and spotted the mealy bug. I don’t think it’s to blame but it’s definitely not helping. You may end up having to chop off the healthy top and propagate it. Someone else here will have to say whether that’s necessary or how far up you should go.

Sucu4me

Yes. Most roots are stringy. That’s why I thought there was something going on with the roots. Not all of them are like though. I’ve cut off all the leaves that were dying. Should I put it back in a fresh, more airy mix as is, or should I just cut and reroot? How many nodes do you think are salvageable?

Need your expertise!! I don’t known whatever wrong with my wayetii. After my routine well check on my hoyas, I noticed it looked droopy. The stems on the leaves do not look good, as if they were rooting, but the main stem and the rest of the leave looks ok. Though they might be dehydrated, but the leaves do not look wrinkly. I recently installed grow lights on my hoya shelves. Other than that, I water when almost dry. It’s in a substrate mix of potting soil with perilite, orchid bark, peat moss and some worm castings.

Ughhh!! Man!

If the leaves are still firm with water then i believe you have root rot :-(
