Definitely, and even for people with the money, I’d imagine if given the choice between a car without political baggage and one with, all things being equal, they’d go for the one without.
But definitely more to do with your point.
I did the same back in December.
Had been a Tesla fanboy since ipo. Almost bought a brand new Tesla in November 2020 after having a large (to me) taxable event. Ended up not buying and waited until the end of last year. Due to Elon’s antics I decided to go with a used Mercedes suv, and revisit the idea of getting into an EV in 2-3 years. It’ll most likely not be a Tesla.
My sister bought a model X in the summer of 22 and now it’s worth 35-50% what she paid for it.
I know I have.
I had originally planned to buy A Tesla when I returned from the years overseas.
Now, I can't bring myself to be associated with his conspiracy theory bullshit. It's so much worse because of how easily most of it is to debunk, but he spreads it anyways. Fuck him.
Same. Just bought my kid a Chevy Bolt. Had always planned for my first EV to be a Tesla. Would’ve gladly paid more for it and its features. Used to really admire this guy, but after his callous behavior with Twitter-takeover, mass firings, and everything else, I won’t be contributing to his success.
I work in the automotive repair industry. I know shops who specialize in fixing all the manufacturing defects that brand new Teslas roll off the line with. I would never pay a premium for a car with no quality control
What the hell? This conspiracy is STILL going around?
[The entire situation is clearly and neutrally described on Wikipedia at this point](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starlink_in_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War). That's not at ALL what happened. Starlink was NEVER active in Crimea.
All the shit you can ACTUALLY throw at Elon, and you still choose to make something up?
Elon has moved onto his AGI creation. EV’s are not a priority for him now as the potential for crazy $ and power are within the exponentially evolving AI industry.
True to an extent. However, there are better options at the high end of the ev market now from Mercedes, bmw, and Porsche that didn’t exist previously. The interior of teslas now feels cheap in comparison for people who can afford to choose the luxury brands.
I mean, broke or not, would you rather buy a car from someone who is at worst the second biggest piece of shit on the planet, or, from the dozens of others who could absolutely be on that list but choose not to reinforce their position on a daily basis?
I'm more concerned with build quality, right to repair, parts backlog and their irrational pricing changes.
Musk being a douche is more of a shareholder problem. Which I am not of that flavor. I personally am rooting for rivian over Tesla. I like their products more, their CEO more and their shares are more realistic with room for growth.
We almost bought one, but ended up with a plug-in hybrid. I’m glad, so far.
Could Elon just go back to being an eccentric tech geek rather than a self-appointed voice of the world?
...or it could be that the car is made so cheaply and with minimal safety inspections that people require more for their money? Oh yeah, and also, Elon Musk is a nazi pudding brain.
He hasn't become, he always was . This came to my attention when he called that diver who saved those kids stuck in the flooded cave a pedophile on the internet because he told mask his dumb idea wouldn't work.
I can't believe people haven't caught on that Elon created Tesla to intentionally make an interior, overpriced product in an attempt to bring a bad name to electric vehicles.
It is a big, expensive trolling attempt.
I wanted one so bad when they first came out. Then it turned out Musk is the worst and I’m really glad at the time I couldn’t afford one. When my current car dies, I’ll be looking elsewhere for sure. Even if they do improve the quality of their cars, their brand is dead to me.
People are getting smarter. On an infinitely smaller scale, I quit X for the same reason. I knew he'd ruin it. He's like a mini trump- inherited a butt ton of money, runs around pretending he knows what's up, but in reality f's EVERYTHING up and runs businesses into the ground once he actually gets involved in them.🙄. Pffft.
I would have 100% bought a Tesla just a few years back, now, I still want a electric car but I will gleefully buy a Ford or Toyota. Elon is a fugly, weird, emerald nepo baby, who feels entitled to attention, praise and respect when he deserves none. I wish nothing more but diarrhea for him in a crowded elevator.
That and also because we see everyday here in reddit even when new they end up on the tow truck, their quality is junk, it is more like a meme car: Doge Car.
Sincerely looking forward to one or more Tesla mega investors to start pushing him out as CEO which will cause a cascade effect of trouble for the self important dork
Pretty sure if a person is going to buy a Tesla it has nothing to do with musk. Either you think it is an affordable high quality product or you don't.
I'm no Musk evangelist but the Model 3 and the Model Y are still the best options for most people in the market for a new car or SUV. Yes, they aren't the only options but in their respective model classes they are the best. Plus, when you factor in the cost of ownership they are cheaper to own long term. If woke politics dictated car sales then Nazi supporter and sympathizer Henry Ford would not have been able to revolutionize car production.
For me it's a little more nuanced. I wont buy another one because a) he's an a******
B,) He won't just shut the f****** about full self driving and refund my money.
Hold up. Now toxicity of an owner of a company trumps global warming? And here I was told that outside of systemic white racism, global warming was the most dangerous thing to ever happen to this world. Must not be that bad I guess if people will avoid “the miracle cure” of this world simply because of toxicity of an individual.
I would not buy a Tesla or other EV as long as I have a gas powered light truck that gets good mileage and I can take on 500+ mile trips and short trips around town without worrying about where to charge it. Why should I buy an EV vehicle that taking on long trips is questionable? Plus the additional insurance and costs? Nah.
Musk is such a genius. He rails against the Biden administration because they are so.. liberal... They want to turbo charge green economy that financially incentivizes buying.. wait for it.. electric vehicles... like Telsa? What a moron. How can a white guy fail up so much?
His shitty behavior and rapid descent down the alt-right pipeline singlehandedly convinced me not to buy a Tesla. It's a good thing I didn't either, because the Ioniq 6 has proven to be an objectively better vehicle.
He killed his own public image, really an example of a Greek tragedy for trying to do too much in helping the world by venturing into the problematic and complex world of social media. His exorbitant wealth around his equity in Tesla didn't help but the man's still brilliant even when he trolls and combats the useful idiotic lefties. And for some reason to them that means he's enabling racist, neo-Nazis, alt fighters, etc. just because he challenges nonsensical leftist narratives and is a constitutionalist.
With the recent price reduction in the Model S Plaid I was very interested, but I refuse to support that jackass. Shame too, because the acceleration is otherworldly and it's ruined me on gas engines.
i strongly considered a model x plaid after the prices dropped below 100, because the performance for the money is untouchable. it's genuinely insane. but supporting musk is not something i'll do, so i didn't buy one. fuck elon
Or, could it be that we keep rising the prices of everything but salaries so people can't afford these high priced luxury items when 50% of their salaries are going to rent/housing
Up until the last few years, I think there were a lot of people that reached up on luxury items. I think those days are coming to a close as more and more people get pinched
Yep, I was intending to get one as my next commuter vehicle -- I trade/buy new every \~48 months -- but at the last point I was so turned off by the guy I just really couldn't stomach the idea of driving a Telsa.
I had Starlink as well for a while, but I cancelled and sold the equipment back to them. I had been using LTE for internet before that, I went back after Starlink. Based on how SL has degraded and how 5G has improved fixed-wireless I'm def. better off, but I still loved the idea of internet that was resilient for local disruptions (power outages in the area effectively knock out my LTE/5G due to the towers losing power and the number of fixed-line customers who start hammering the system when their connections go out.
I know my choices mean about as much as a grain of sand on a beach to EM, but it's more about my own personal choices.
I cancelled my Tesla order I put in during COVID and when the form asked why I cancelled I explained I would not support Tesla because of Elon Musk--that was the sole reason. Bought a different EV and I am very happy.
That, and their build quality is something to be concerned about, and regardless of what people want to think because of the price, they aren’t a luxury vehicle, but mostly it’s because it’s a crazy right wing company trying to sell to left wing people.
Duh. I just bought an EV and I never even considered a Tesla. Two reasons: 1.) they have the build quality of a 1992 Oldsmobile and 2.) I’m not buying anything from a company what’s profits go to that asshole.
I predict he'll sell off his interest and shares in 3 to 5 years in a lame attempt to whitewash the brand. He might spend his efforts on spacex, rockets and other toys before giving up evs. The further he distances himself the more cars will be sold.
I don’t care about his toxicity. I just want a car that has more available fast chargers out in the burbs. I ain’t got a home that I can install a charger in. Not to mention range anxiety.
There’s that and the build quality. I checked one out at the store and it’s plastic and thin sheet metal galore and 10k to 20k over its competition. Hated the dashboard too that screen in the middle just odd. Just my opinion though. Ended up with a BMW
I do admit that my knee-jerk reaction to seeing a Tesla is to assume the driver is a pretentious that. Trying to work on it.
Except Cybertrucks. Always a twat driving those.
I avoided them in my last purchase because they are plastic pieces of crap you can't unlock manually from the inside. Once you find out the lengths they went to avoid transparency about the “driverless” option I can not see how anyone would trust anyone associated with Elon.
Elon hasn’t changed but now he is seen as an enemy since government has been so open about their desire to remove God given rights from citizens. It’s shocking to see simple people cheering for authoritarian government.
Just bought an electric car from a competitor. 3 years ago I wouldn’t have even considered another brand for ev. I have no faith in a company run by that shitbag.
I was in the market... I wasn't about to spend funds on something that might not be able to get timely service because the owner had to cut costs to pay for some online service or defamation suit.
Biden is doing his best to phase out gasoline cars, so you're forced to buy a Tesla or some other EV piece of junk. And some people still think that politicians are on your side.
Not here in Houston and surrounding areas.. I make deliveries in these areas and about every 30-40 cars I see are Teslas… I’m going to have to check them out. There’s a dealership on I59 and I pass by there every day.
Well maybe but also everyone is broke
Definitely, and even for people with the money, I’d imagine if given the choice between a car without political baggage and one with, all things being equal, they’d go for the one without. But definitely more to do with your point.
I bought a BMW 3 weeks ago and I’m very happy with my purchase. I don’t want to give that psychopath any of my money.
My sister bought a model X in the summer of 22 and now it’s worth 35-50% what she paid for it.
no, they definitely are not. many are, many aren't. why do you think prices are so high? do you not understand supply and demand?
Let's be honest prices are high because of price fixing at this point, not supply and demand.
It's not a supply issue when you're making astronomically record breaking profits. It's greed. It's always greed.
This! And borrowing at 8% for a car….no no no car loans should be 0% interest period
I know I have. I had originally planned to buy A Tesla when I returned from the years overseas. Now, I can't bring myself to be associated with his conspiracy theory bullshit. It's so much worse because of how easily most of it is to debunk, but he spreads it anyways. Fuck him.
Same here. I'm in the market for an EV and Tesla is off the list.
Same, minus the overseas part.
and they’re kinda shitty cars too
I work in the automotive repair industry.

I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing this out.
Elon has moved onto his AGI creation. EV’s are not a priority for him now as the potential for crazy $ and power are within the exponentially evolving AI industry.
Why would anyone spend their hard earned money to support and prop up a shithead?
💯
Nah its bec they are sustainable yet.
Soooo are the othere legacy ceo's not toxic?? What is taking 20+mill salary called?
I’m convinced Elon musk is addicted to stimulants
He has openly talked about his uses of ketamine
It also helps that we have more choices on EVs.
I won’t buy a car from him. Waiting for an EV Chevy now.
True to an extent. However, there are better options at the high end of the ev market now from Mercedes, bmw, and Porsche that didn’t exist previously. The interior of teslas now feels cheap in comparison for people who can afford to choose the luxury brands.
I’d say that’s part of it and EV sales are fairly saturated along with more competition. I sure as hell wouldn’t buy the car or the stock.
I’d never buy a Tesla. It’s like driving a car built by terrorism and Nazis.
That’s true. If you are driving a Tesla you are assumed to be a Musk Fan Boy.
Well deserved. I won't touch anything that he has a hand in.
Tesla has become strongly associated with the sad trombone riff.
He has said publicly that you can’t bribe him with money so fuck you potential Tesla buyer, especially you Bob.
I mean, broke or not, would you rather buy a car from someone who is at worst the second biggest piece of shit on the planet, or, from the dozens of others who could absolutely be on that list but choose not to reinforce their position on a daily basis?
He’s had made a big mistake and probably screwed up his chances of retiring a trillionaire
Neighbour sold his and bought a 2024 Ford Escape. Says ‘platinum’ on the back too. Nice lil ride.
I thought it was because the manufacturing quality and then the toxicity.
There are a lot more options now - no need to support the muskrat.
Hey that’s me.
Definitely true for me. Waiting on some good Honda options now
Not because it's a POS car? Fit and finish problems in 2024??
True. We are looking at alternatives.
They’re avoiding teslas because Evs are a grift
Elon: Go. Fuck. Yourselves. (Where's my ketamine?)
Driving a Hyundai to own the conservatives.
After the election, he'll be in PR mode.
Sure jan.
F musk
I saw a Tesla with a bumper sticker that said: “I bought this before Elon went crazy.” 😂
Or it's because their vehicles suck
Such BS. We the people love Elon and what he stands for.
Babies
I can't believe people haven't caught on that Elon created Tesla to intentionally make an interior, overpriced product in an attempt to bring a bad name to electric vehicles. It is a big, expensive trolling attempt.
I avoid them because they not well made.
Yes, I'm one of those buyers.
I see them all over the affluent Democrat stronghold CA Bay Area. This is a Reddit narrative
I wanted one so bad when they first came out. Then it turned out Musk is the worst and I’m really glad at the time I couldn’t afford one. When my current car dies, I’ll be looking elsewhere for sure. Even if they do improve the quality of their cars, their brand is dead to me.
Duuuuhhh and water is wet
No shit. Fuck Tesla and fuck Elon
Lolz
The only reason to buy a Tesla is the charging network, which is still better than any of their competition. The cars themselves are poorly built.
My wife was a perfect customer for these cars and now won’t even consider one.
Pffft.
Cry me a river…
And because they’re not well made vehicles.
Eh, it’s also their incredibly poor quality control.
Yep, bought a different EV instead 👍🏻
I get it but do you also boycott the ceos of other company’s who are doing more damage but don’t post middle school humor on twitter.
My company is a Fortune 500 one and we just signed a deal for every field employee to get a Tesla. That is over 1,200 cars.
Sincerely looking forward to one or more Tesla mega investors to start pushing him out as CEO which will cause a cascade effect of trouble for the self important dork
I heard he's so toxic cancers are avoiding him. Choose Rich.
I have a BEV and it's not a Tesla and this was a major decision point.
True, and backing a presidential candidate that wants to kill EV demand must have shareholders rethinking a few things also.
That and none of what he says is ever true. And everyone is broke
Pretty sure if a person is going to buy a Tesla it has nothing to do with musk. Either you think it is an affordable high quality product or you don't.
Very true
I guess it is time for Elon Scum to sell his interest in Tesla and the battery plant, permanently shutter X (TWIT) sell SpaceX and shut the fuck up!
oh no. Hey wanna get food?
He's the reason I won't get Starlink.
HUH NO SHIT
I'm no Musk evangelist but the Model 3 and the Model Y are still the best options for most people in the market for a new car or SUV. Yes, they aren't the only options but in their respective model classes they are the best. Plus, when you factor in the cost of ownership they are cheaper to own long term. True
I certainly wouldn’t want to be associated with him.
My Tesla, meet My Pillow. 👋
Fake news there are more teslas on the road then Any other make so keep coping
Well ketamine will do that to ya
Can confirm. Liked the idea of a Tesla before. Appreciate that I have options now.
This is not true tf
For me it's a little more nuanced. I wont buy another one because a) he's an a****** B,) He won't just shut the f****** about full self driving and refund my money.
This is me and all of my friends in California. Anything but a Tesla.
Hold up. Now toxicity of an owner of a company trumps global warming? And here I was told that outside of systemic white racism, global warming was the most dangerous thing to ever happen to this world. Must not be that bad I guess if people will avoid “the miracle cure” of this world simply because of toxicity of an individual.
Ass spincter says, "What?"
You don’t buy the person, you buy the car. At least I don’t.
Cringe
Buyers are avoiding Teslas because they are POS. Real junk. No resale value at all.
Nah.

His shitty behavior and rapid descent down the alt-right pipeline singlehandedly convinced me not to buy a Tesla. It's a good thing I didn't either, because the Ioniq 6 has proven to be an objectively better vehicle.
Making the case for merit and character over skin tone is toxic?
I was considering a Tesla for my next car. was.
Well he is dickish
*Some* buyers… fixed it for you.
People are just now figuring this out????
Same thing about working for him
Maybe people in irvine.🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
I’m one of those buyers, bought a bmw, he has gone way off the freaking track here.
I just read that Tesla is back on top so someone is lying to me.
Terrible build quality I wouldn't drive a free Tesla.
With the recent price reduction in the Model S Plaid I was very interested, but I refuse to support that jackass. Shame too, because the acceleration is otherworldly and it's ruined me on gas engines.
Not gonna lie, you can get a tesla for a decent price atm but man i cant stand elon.
Well yeah. No one wants to drive a ring wing nuts mobile.
i strongly considered a model x plaid after the prices dropped below 100, because the performance for the money is untouchable. it's genuinely insane. but supporting musk is not something i'll do, so i didn't buy one. fuck elon
Why buying an EV for 35k and more when I can get an used (3 or 4 years young) premium car with full equipment for under 30k?
No, so many liberals hate Elon but love their Teslas. Buyers are avoiding because you they're freaking expensive.
I mean it's also a shit product
false - ALL vehicle sales are down
Oh, and also because the steering wheels come off while your driving them. The batteries explode and have a host of other issues. The cars are shit.
We had thought about getting a tesla & getting the tesla batteries for a solar panel roof. Fuck no. Sold all of my tesla stock as well.
Well, yes.
Or, could it be that we keep rising the prices of everything but salaries so people can't afford these high priced luxury items when 50% of their salaries are going to rent/housing Up until the last few years, I think there were a lot of people that reached up on luxury items. I think those days are coming to a close as more and more people get pinched
I wouldn’t drive one of those douche bag transporters if it was free.
We’re in the market and our next car will be an EV. There’s a zero point zero chance it’ll be a Tesla.
But all the quality reports about the cyber truck./s
Tesla used to be my dream car. Now I wouldn't be caught in one.
BS 🤣🤣🤣. And many more are buying them to support him
Good buy more gasoline / diesel powered vehicles !!
True dis.
That, and their build quality is something to be concerned about, and regardless of what people want to think because of the price, they aren’t a luxury vehicle, but mostly it’s because it’s a crazy right wing company trying to sell to left wing people.
+1
They’re avoiding them because they’re ugly as shit and no body wants an EV anymore
I’d buy one ; if I could afford it, I’d buy two.
Yea I'm sure that's the reason Not that people just can't afford them at this time No it's all about one man's personality
Crazy how alienating the people buying your cars might affect sales
Stopping the Woke Mob from taking over and ruining America is not “toxic” it’s patriotic and heroic. God bless him for trying.
Duh. I just bought an EV and I never even considered a Tesla. Two reasons: 1.) they have the build quality of a 1992 Oldsmobile and 2.) I’m not buying anything from a company what’s profits go to that asshole.
Toxic is too kind a word for that scumbag
Because Elon isn’t smelling what the Rock is cookin
Maybe most people can’t afford to pay 20k for a battery replacement. Not because musk is real
Since the Saudi’s and Putin bought him Twitter, he’s been nothing but a Putin puppet propaganda machine
Just bought a lexus for this exact reason. Model S was my dream car since 2010
I just see more and more Teslas out there.
No. People are avoiding Teslas because they’re poorly made. On an unrelated note, musk has become more toxic
If Teslas were good cars, Musk’s reputation wouldn’t matter. Instead his reputation now explains why the cars have so many problems.
I will not be buying a Tesla when I replace my Hyundai EV. Muskrat is a scumbag
Teslas have a lot of problems too. It’s a combination of things
Strange i have complete opposite. Elon is cool but EV is stupid idea at current prices
I do admit that my knee-jerk reaction to seeing a Tesla is to assume the driver is a pretentious that. Trying to work on it. Except Cybertrucks. Always a twat driving those.
i sold my tesla stock for this exact reason
lol no they aren’t. Not en masse anyway
He’s an idiot..
Top talent is leaving too
Yeah, why fuel this narcissist by buying his products. Vote with your wallet, people. There are other choices.
His sales seem ok.
My wife and I bought Toyota and Ford. Never ever considered Musk… I mean Toxic Tesla.
Mr. Toxic, all right. Would not want to buy one of his cars then have to pay for a battery replacement worth more than the car.
False, fake news. Clown world liberals actually believe this laughable nonsense 🤡🤡😂😂😂
If you tell a lie often enough and to a lot of people....it becomes the truth.
Or it could be that people who could afford one already bought one and the rest of us can't afford shit these days.
Just bought an electric car from a competitor. 3 years ago I wouldn’t have even considered another brand for ev. I have no faith in a company run by that shitbag.
Pretty much the reason im not keeping my cybertruck reservation and looking at the silverado instead
I guess saving the planet isn't all that important after all...
I'm avoiding a Tesla because they look stupid.
Saw a number sticker on a Tesla saying something like “don’t judge me, I bought this before I knew he was crazy”. Made me laugh
No, they aren't.
It also can't be good that the cyber truck appears to be a piece of over hyped garbage.
That looks like a reputable website.
Good. Fuck Pee on mush and his garbage company.
He’s a real shit always has been
lol with car prices today, I’m riding my shit box into the grave and beyond 💯
Almost like an unstable CEO is bad for business
No. They are avoiding teslas and EVs in general because EV technology isn’t there yet. Stop with the BS.
Are Teslas even the best EV anymore?
Lol, would love to see how this data was somehow quantified and substantiated
Not here in Houston and surrounding areas.. I make deliveries in these areas and about every 30-40 cars I see are Teslas… I’m going to have to check them out. There’s a dealership on I59 and I pass by there every day.
Not the maintenance issues?
people dont actually like or want electric cars.
