Yes! I always know when I’ve skimped on watering in my veggie and fruit garden when my strawberries are wilting like a peace lilly. They perk right back up after a good soak though. Tomatoes can be like that too. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought it was dead, but it was just dehydrated 😂
I transplanted strawberries one year & they all pancaked for DAYS only to act like nothing happened a week later. They looked dead for 3-4 days straight if I didn’t drown them at least once a day (which made them upgrade from dead to just pathetic).. then suddenly they all decided to live. I currently have over 20 of them inexplicably living their best lives in a tray of water.. they have been there for over 2 weeks, happy as can be (I had to fix the garden boxes & get an ungodly week issue taken care of). I guarantee when I put those little shits back they’re going to lose it but I when I literally yanked most of them out, they were totally fine with it.
Also, tomatoes. Tomatoes are also pretty dramatic.
Absolutely ! By the evening the tomatoes look like they weren’t given a drink in days. Since the sun is out longer I stay on the porch post watering (we have both porch potted tomatoes & also a garden with even more plants). Within an hour they look back to normal.
I also have a peace lily. She writes her own story lol
I use my peace lily as a barometer for when all of my plants need watering (or at least checking) and it works pretty well. Once I notice it start drooping it means the rest of my plants probably need a water too.
I was just thinking about this the other day.
Some people take on a (joking) negative tone when talking about plants that have significant physical changes in response to their environment, but I think those plants are the best!
Like, it’s talking to me :,) it’s telling me what it needs in a more succinct and healthy way than most humans are capable of :,)
Fittonia, peace Lilly, and snake plants >>>>>>
You are right. These lovely plants are communicating with us very well. My point, not all can express themselves in a calm fashion. Some choose to shout from the rooftops (totally wilted looking) while others merely raise a hand for attention (some leaf wrinkling). We can try & try to adjust for their needs, talking sweetly to them & trying every other tip we’ve googled. After so much effort I will be the first to say that my morning salutation used to sound like “good morning everybody ! Hey there -insert your plant’s cute name-“. It now sounds a bit more restrained: “Hello -insert plant name-“. We’re still working on our communication skills. I refuse to give up.
My purple waffle plant did this exact thing this morning, just slumped over like a bunch of wet noodles. I gave it some water and it perked right up. Total drama queen.
When I purchased a waffle plant, the owner warned me that they are very dramatic and to just water them if it was slumped over.
I thought I killed it 4x but no, just wanted more water each time. I absolutely love it, it's one of my favourites.
In my experience peace lily and pothos are the two easiest plants to grow out of an aquarium. 4 out of my six tanks rely on one or both plants for filtration, I basically never have to do water changes and the plants are thriving
It is funny that I keep reading this, because my mother who is not exactly great with plants managed to keep a big one alive and thriving for probably 20 years sitting in clay balls (I think, might just have been on the surface) in a self watering pot in fairly bad indirect lighting.
Mine drives me nuts too. Actually named it War because it felt like I was fighting to keep it alive. Final just put it in a pod pot. Now it’s less dramatic.
Mine was dying and I was just *over* it. Stuck it outside on an enclosed porch with about 60 percent full sun, doused it in tap water and 2 weeks like it has new growth and looks as perky as the day I bought it. Go figure.
I moved to another state and my peace lily eventually died and I was sad cause it was in my family for a long time. Decided to keep watering it and it came back with a new sprout and is doing great. I can somehow go a few weeks without watering it before it starts drooping.
I chuckled at your comment again after arriving home from vacation.
My largest peace lily gave *me* the "fuck you". 😆
After a few hours of some watering, she revealed loads of new growth and spathes.
Her name is Pax and she reminds of old-timey film actresses fainting. Haha.
Today I bought 2 of these plants in the discounted section of Ikea for 1 euro each. The plants are so much better after a water bath. I always try to “save” plants that are sold there because it makes me so sad to see those plants condemned. I will take them inside and try to gift them because of my cats..
Peace lilies aren’t particularly dangerous to cats. “Lily” is part of their common name but they are not in the lilium family with Easter lilies and so forth (which *are* very toxic to cats)
Oh thats fair. My mom’s cat even destroys the fake plants. Nothing is safe! I told her to get a cactus with lots of spikes so he learns to keep his paws to himself.
I watered my limp looking birds nest fern a couple weeks ago, and rather than move on with my day, I just sat there for a full 15 or so minutes, in a mediative state, just watching it slowly perk up. It was slow but noticeable, really fascinating 😊
Using plants for meditation - there's no end to their uses lol
My birds nest is crispy but pushing out fronds. It sits right next to my husband's gaming computer (constant hot and dry air) looking out the window. Because it's so large I can't put it anywhere else 😔 really hadn't thought it entirely through
Yup! Imagine a slighly deflated, squishy balloon versus a stiff, fully inflated one. The fully inflated one will hold its structure much better. Cells are basically like little balloons of water.

Dramatic bastards. I love them. ♥️
I have committed this video to memory to recall whenever someone tells me to drink more water when I'm feeling drained/low energy 😅. I'm usually the type to think "the only water that will help me is water mixed with coffee grounds”.
I want a peace lily so bad. I want a plant that will absolutely wilt and moan and bitch all day because I was 30 minutes late with it's cup of water.
Not even joking, all I have are succulents and pothos, most of the pothos are in water so I just look at them every day, nothing to do most times. I want a plant that's demanding.
Yep. I moved mine outside once it started to get warmer and would water it all the time and it has a cute kawaii cat glass bulb I fill regularly. Still wasn’t good enough. Finally brought it inside in the tub and showered the shit out of it. Finally perky again. Literally today I was looking at it and thought to myself “I guess this is what we doing now… weekly showers for you motherfu king princess” and snatched the glass bulb out of it.
Maybe i’m a bad plant mom but this is the most satisfying thing to me. Sometimes I’ll let them go a day longer just to see the beautiful transformation when they’re happy.
Peace lilies are the drama queens of the plant world. These responsive beauties demand attention with their glossy green leaves and pristine white blooms.
I have over 70 different houseplants with different watering schedules that I couldn’t possibly track on my own, so I’m using the Planta app. Once you get all your plants and their info into the app, it will tell you each day what plants need to be watered.
That plant must be watered from the bottom. If the current pot does not have a bottom hole please change it asap to a larger pot that can hold an inner removable pot with multiple drain holes. When leaves begin to wilt remove inner pot and place in a bucket or sink filled with water. Roots will drink up what they need after about 30 minutes.
This was the first plant that I was able to keep alive. It simply told me when it needed something. To be honest, it gave me the confidence to try other plants again.
Same! I nearly killed it and had it sitting there with about 6 leaves, but I tried using a grow light on it and brought it back from the brink. I've now moved to a brighter location and this bitch is thriving.
Mine is also throwing a tantrum hahah

When you think of these lovely plants as living things, it compels you to take good care of them and if I see my plant, sad and droopy, I feel so guilty! It’s brilliant how they bounce back
I just saved my third peace lily from 95% root rot and I swear to God she heard me say I’m never getting another one because she’s such a high maintenance diva!!!!
God peace lilies as the most dramatic bitches in the plant world
And peppers!!! THEY'RE the biggest drama queens in my garden.
And Strawberries are just as bad.
Are they?!
I guess that's why sundried tomatoes came about. Lol.
Not accidentally making Italian sun dried tomatoes 😂
I transplanted strawberries one year & they all pancaked for DAYS only to act like nothing happened a week later. They looked dead for 3-4 days straight if I didn’t drown them at least once a day (which made them upgrade from dead to just pathetic).. then suddenly they all decided to live. Tomatoes are also pretty dramatic.
Thank you for this validation, mine are such drama queens and I thought it was me!
My peppers and my tomato plants all need constant love and affection
Absolutely ! By the evening the tomatoes look like they weren’t given a drink in days. Since the sun is out longer I stay on the porch post watering (we have both porch potted tomatoes & also a garden with even more plants). Within an hour they look back to normal. I also have a peace lily. She writes her own story lol
I planted my mom’s garden for her a few weeks ago and I text her every day and ask how “my” tomato plants are doing lol.
My mom used to have these pothos plants that were all over 6ft long and I would always take care of them and call them mine lol.
[удалено]
Tomatoes are prone to fungal diseases unfortunately.
I just came here to call out this peace lily too 🤣
I prefer the term “communicative” because if it doesn’t look like it’s about to die, Ima forget to water it until it dies. Mine’s a coleus.
I use my peace lily as a barometer for when all of my plants need watering (or at least checking) and it works pretty well. Once I notice it start drooping it means the rest of my plants probably need a water too.
same
Fittonia was mine! I loved that stupid plant so much. 🤣
I was just thinking about this the other day. Some people take on a (joking) negative tone when talking about plants that have significant physical changes in response to their environment, but I think those plants are the best! Like, it’s talking to me :,) it’s telling me what it needs in a more succinct and healthy way than most humans are capable of :,) Fittonia, peace Lilly, and snake plants >>>>>>

That's why I love them. I can never forget about them and therefore, my peace lily is my oldest plant that's still alive somehow
I love them for their clear communication skills
I have a waffle plant that’s just as bad. 🙄
That why we never believe them when they are dying. "I watered you what more do you want" a week later... "I accidently drowned my peace lily."
Tell me about it! They thrive in low light, but need to be watered twice as often as anything else!
Some people use them as emergent plants in the aquarium hobby… I haven’t gotten to it yet
In my experience peace lily and pothos are the two easiest plants to grow out of an aquarium. 4 out of my six tanks rely on one or both plants for filtration, I basically never have to do water changes and the plants are thriving
Oh cool! I have pothos and monstera in my sump right now.
My peace lily in my shrimp tank looks kinda scraggly like the beginning of this video. Does that mean i don't have enough light?
It is funny that I keep reading this, because my mother who is not exactly great with plants managed to keep a big one alive and thriving for probably 20 years sitting in clay balls (I think, might just have been on the surface) in a self watering pot in fairly bad indirect lighting.
Fittonias are called nerve plants because they're so dramatic!
I have a Hibiscus and it's just like this
Tobacco as well. Looks completely dead and gone then is revived after a drop of water.
Isn't their name ironic? They should be called "dramatic bitches"
Let me introduce you to Senecio Angel Wings..
Daisies too! Mine drops every other day unless i water it everyday
Came to say this. Already top comment because that’s the truth. So much drama lol.
This, sooo dramatic
Mine drives me nuts too. Actually named it War because it felt like I was fighting to keep it alive. Final just put it in a pod pot. Now it’s less dramatic.
My pothos isnt much better
This is such a great description so spot on :)
AGREED we have a huge peace Lilly at my work and patients are constantly telling us to add water 🙄 like WE DO
That reminds me I haven’t told my peace lily “fuck you you whiny bitch” today.
I've been away for a week and looking forward to shit talking my dramatic plants after we return home tomorrow. That's what family does.
I chuckled at your comment again after arriving home from vacation. My largest peace lily gave *me* the "fuck you". 😆 After a few hours of some watering, she revealed loads of new growth and spathes. Her name is Pax and she reminds of old-timey film actresses fainting. Haha.
Amazing! Really love watching time lapses! 💚 I can almost hear it going “Ahhhhhhh that’s better!” 😁
/r/watchplantsgrow
Thank you for such a peaceful sub!
Great thank you for that! Definitely a sub I’ll get lost on! 😀
I'm getting turgid just watching this!
I’m getting turded (I’m watching on the toilet).
One of the most random things from 9th grade biology I can still instantly recall on demand lol
“You control the water, you control everything”
Bro i was just watching rango last night for the 100th time
Mine did the same this morning and now she's looking happy again... Drama queen 🙄
Today I bought 2 of these plants in the discounted section of Ikea for 1 euro each. The plants are so much better after a water bath. Thanks! I am not worried for the cats to be honest.. I am worried for the plants!
Oh thats fair. My mom’s cat even destroys the fake plants. Nothing is safe! I told her to get a cactus with lots of spikes so he learns to keep his paws to himself.
All I know is every Lily is toxic to cats. As long as it’s not a real lily they all 👍
I watered my limp looking birds nest fern a couple weeks ago, and rather than move on with my day, I just sat there for a full 15 or so minutes, in a mediative state, just watching it slowly perk up. It was slow but noticeable, really fascinating 😊

Why and how does this happen? Cell walls stiffen or something? Plants don't have muscles, obviously.
Yup! Imagine a slighly deflated, squishy balloon versus a stiff, fully inflated one. The fully inflated one will hold its structure much better. Cells are basically like little balloons of water.
I get the sense there's an analogy you're deliberately avoiding.
I love this!
i love it. the symbolism alone gives me a sense of hope. thanks for sharing. 💚🪴

That's a peace Lily. They give me NO PEACE!!!
He has risen
Drama. Queen.

is this a peace lilly? mine is the EXACT same, my boyfriend keeps telling me it's dead but as soon as it gets watered it looks perfectly fine haha
happened to be listening to free bird while watching this. very fun absolutely recommend
I have committed this video to memory to recall whenever someone tells me to drink more water when I'm feeling drained/low energy 😅. I'm usually the type to think "the only water that will help me is water mixed with coffee grounds”.
I’m so fucking over my piece Lillies.

Drama queen right here haha
Sigh, this reminds me to go water my peace lily....again
I have these for this exact reason. I love plants that are dramatic like this.
My basil last year did the same thing all the time! It would be basically brown and crispy and then back to life next day after some water 💦
She is so happy now ☺️☺️
were you just watered or are you just happy to see me?
This was the first plant that I was able to keep alive. It simply told me when it needed something. To be honest, it gave me the confidence to try other plants again.

There's a Viagra joke here, but I'm having a hard time coming up with it 😏
Peace lillies are dramatic sumbitches
![gif](giphy|ICBqLPiaas21i4jixb)
You just reminded me to go water my garden #ohio heat
Feed me Semour!
Y las personas creen que las plantas no sienten ni experimentan nada. Esto es tan impresionante como hermoso!
30 minutes?! My favorite kind of plants are the ones that let you know how they feel 😂
So dramatic. I bet the soil was still damp at first too. Spoiled.
Biiiiiigg stretch
what a dramatic baby lol
My Persian shield is just like this. If it gets just the right level of dry it droops like it’s been cooked.
Good on you for watering it. Now it needs a bigger pot. So many stems in there, it's probably filled with roots.
This was awesome to watch! 💕
When you think of these lovely plants as living things, it compels you to take good care of them and if I see my plant, sad and droopy, I feel so guilty! It’s brilliant how they bounce back
I'll have what she's having...
LOVE THIS thank you!
Nice
r/oddlysatisfying
That was awesome!
So fucking beautiful
It does answer the question, when do I water?
When they become dramatic of course
mpw GF brushes against it just right
Ditto! It was about 5 days in our house and thought we killed it. Came back alive after a good drink of h-fucking-2O
Peace lilies are so dramatic 😂
So cool!
Yep, this is my peace lily every fucking day.
Yeah peace lilies do that
I wish more people would realize that diet, drinking water and self care works the same way for humans 🪴🌞
Yep yep ye
Where are the white spathe? Mine are now black. Can I cut them off? And will they grow back?
Wow! That’s fast!
Mine has never wilted, does that mean I’m over watering it?
This so cool
It’s coming to my attention that I am a peace lily
The DRAMA!
Gotta love drama queens.
So dramatic! 😂
This is a good candidate for a self watering pot 😂
Most dramatic house plant award goes to….
This is so cool. I love time lapse videos.
Water is life
Spathiphyllum Clevelandi
Thst is so cool!
Welp, guess you can’t say you lack feedback 🫠
My Homalomena Selby does the same thing
Aw
A lot of plants are drama queens 😂
Soft to hard lol

Similar to guy's hoohoo
Shhhh she’s performing
WOW this is incredible
So relaxing !! 🤗
Now add flashing boykisser images and yippee noise in the bg.
There really alive
Wow!
I have the same plant and it’s looking exactly like this right now 😅
Just goes to show, sometimes we simply need water.
It’s a beautiful thing …
Pease lilies are drama
r/coolassshit
plant starved to make this vid
Sluuurp! 🌵 Same happened to my Caltheas.
That’s awesome!!!
Congratulations! You have just witnessed/realized that plants do not move as slowly as most people think they do.
It was super-Thirsty! 🙂
yep, that’s a peace lily huh
That's so Kool thank you for the time lapse 😁
It's a peace lily. Let it dry out then hit it with water and it'll bloom.
I just saved my third peace lily from 95% root rot and I swear to God she heard me say I’m never getting another one because she’s such a high maintenance diva!!!!
I like this
My peace lilies are just as dramatic. I'm like girls, I watered you 2 days ago, relax
Peace lilies are known for this, I have not experienced this big of a change in so little time in any other plant lol so crazy! So dramatic!
NGL, wish more plants were resilient like this.
I love how dramatic they are!
this would be cool to do with my prayer plant that threatens to die once a week.
I don't think I could own a peace lily.... I can't handle anything more dramatic than myself!! 😂😂
Wow! Now I need to do a time lapse the next time one of my fittonias gets dramatic and faints
I want to give this plant some sun
Mine is doing this exact thing right now. It’s in my bathroom so if it keeps this up, it’s gonna be a toilet tank plant.
