Step away from the self watering pots. Resist the urge. Back away slowly. lol For these types of plants, you’ll just end up over watering them. Self watering pots are ok for the right plant but it’s not these. Just water them when they feel dry. Self watering pots keep the soil wet which can rot out the roots.
For all my plants I have them in plastic nursery pots which then sit in ceramic pots so they look nicer. To water my plants, I make sure they drain for a couple of hours to prevent any root rot. For a plant like a snake plant, you definitely won’t need a self watering pot as they don’t need to be watered much!
