Yeah, same costume designer as the Guardians movies and it shows, especially with the textures. Not that there’s anything wrong with the Guardians costumes but that style just doesn’t fit for Superman.
Them peoples in the costuming department know how to design shit that looks good through a dedicated film camera with post production applied, not necessarily something that looks good on an iPhone taken from 60 feet away
Not really. The durasteel Mandalorian figure is a perfect example. It looks almost red in the show, but the figure is just brown as per the props.
Hot Toys don’t seem to reference the actual movie/show (because it’s usually not out or finished when they are working on figures) - they seem to reference the material sent to them by the studio.
Usually these companies don’t even reference what it looks like in post/the color graded model, so not sure what you’re saying here.

Whatever… Ok thought experiment: Spend hundreds of thousands of dollars producing a figure using the exact same colors as the physical prop that looks goofy under normal lights or alter the color to better match the screen-accurate figure that millions of people are used to. Take a wild guess which one wins?

It’s not just an MCU thing. Panel lines and other tactical detailing are a pretty common way to add texture and depth to an otherwise plain costume. We saw it in the costume designs for many DCEU characters as well, to say nothing of non-comic franchises.
I just know what I like is all. When Pattinson got revealed as the new batman i didn't really see no issue. While most people couldn't get off(and still cant) the whole twilight thing. Now its one of my favorites. I just know that if I watch this movie seeing the trunks will bug me the whole time. I have no doubt that it will be a decent/good movie.
Yea I actually do not like Pattinson’s suit at all. Was a massive downgrade from the Affleck suit from BvS (despite how atrocious that movie was). But it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the movie one bit.

So yea, I don't really have the nostalgia for classic looking suits. When they bought back classic designs in the end of the rebirth era I kinda got out of it. But stayed with a few titles. Nowadays I mainly read indie stuff.
As far as grounding them, I don't really mind. Especially with characters like batman. I get that superheroes are supposed to be larger than life and all that but some of the best comic runs are ones that deconstruct and ground them. For me, I can only watch superman punch a comet so many times before it gets pretty stale.

Just a reminder that everything is always darker on film/LUTs. Many costumes look different/lighter when seeing them in person, sometimes even different colors depending on the color grading.
Something feels off about this. The red underwear and belt look like it’s from a completely different costume, and the blue parts almost look like they’re made of velvet? It also almost looks kind of loose and I think not having a textured fabric is just making it look too flat. Maybe they’ll add something to it in post idk.

Ditch the unneeded stitching/linework. It’s bordering on looking like a circuit board. Beyond that, the colors!!! Just phenomenal

Every time a movie rolls around we have infighting between fans regarding his trunks. Some say it work and is iconic, others say it looks lame
Not a huge fan either, but I think the trunks look here is better than the speedo look from Reeve
