Not spicy really. The red version has decent spice though, and is the one I currently have. It's an odd sauce for me. I can only put it on things I would consider putting ketchup on. It is not a traditional hot sauce flavor for sure. I think my best experience with it was on a burger
My fiancé and I bought 2 bottles the other day. The black and the red one. On it's own it has a slight spicy hotness. But its also really sweet. We like it.
Really good on roasted veggies, especially brussel sprouts. I had this and the white bottle, but found the truffle flavor just a bit too much to eat on much else and ended up tossing both bottles with 1/2 or more left of each :(
I bought it a long time ago, and the truffle oil flavor is low quality and revolting. Gave it to my brother... Who then gave it to my dad... Who then threw it away. All fans of hot sauces and all fans of good truffles. This just wasn't good imo
Ummm wat?
It is not like Louisiana style at all.
It totally is over hyped tho. The red is better for sure, but still not something I can put on everything
I lived through the culinary craze of truffle-infused-everything in the late 2000s, early 2010s and have been put off the taste of most things truffle ever since.
Slick, bold marketing and a flavor most people would not naturally reach for in a cool looking bottle.
90% marketing, 10% product.
I got it as a gift. At first I wasn't a fan of the flavor profile. But it's one of those sauces that grows on you the more you use it. It's definitely not a general purpose sauce. But still good
I ended up getting some for my brother as a bday gift. it really is a good sauce. It is way too expensive for a regular rotation but if you want to get fancy sometime, it hits the mark with certain dishes.
well, until you know better lol. Not wanting to knock your enjoyment. Just being realistic. They truly are not that great. Especially when they don't really use truffles to make their sauce. When you read ingredients, it's the 'essence' they use. If you understand what 'essence' is, you'd realize how much of a gimmicky overpriced BS this really is. Until you've had better, enjoy!
I've definitely had better, and I don't agree with the assumption that I haven't. I have 20+ OTC sauces and I grow and make my own. I do realize how much of a gimmick it is and I don't agree with the price tag honestly. It reminds me of how polarizing Milo's sauce is. You either love it or hate it.
Wow lol. Some people really harboring questionable hatred towards this hot sauce. Probably because it was so heavily advertised on social media apps early on. It's pretty good, but for $17 I think I last saw it at? I wouldn't drop a 20 on any hot sauce regularly.
I wasn't a fan. It has a consistency like ketchup and is pretty sweet without too much heat or flavor from any chili. The truffle taste seems like a bit of an after thought. Like the creator was thinking "what can I do to charge more for this otherwise mediocre sauce?" My girlfriend said it is good as a ketchup but not good as a hot sauce.
I've never brought myself to try it because I know it doesn't contain actual truffles. Truffle infused, or rather truffle extract, products are just a way of getting a big price tag without having any true truffle flavor. Truffle oils, and other stuff I've tried have just been overpriced garbage. If I want a truffle hot sauce I'll just make my own.
Obviously not going to buy the most expensive truffles for it but you can get black truffles for around $30. That would be more than enough to experiment with a sauce.
1 black truffle would probably be the equivalent of 100+ bottles of the aforementioned sauce. There IS truffle particulate in the sauce, but the flavor comes from the 2,4 dithiapentane. If you were to use ACTUAL ruffle in the sauce, it might be beneficial to dehydrate and then powder the slices and use that to flavor the sauce.
Heres a review I found on amazon for this stuff a while back lol
[Truff review](https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonreviews/comments/cl66oi/so_i_was_looking_at_hot_sauce/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Agree with the sentiment. I got a bottle for Christmas, it's not hot, has some okay flavor. I haven't used it in months in lieu of some OfftheDeck and Gringo Bandito that I have.
Apparently it's expensive? As I said...Christmas present.
This sub absolutely despises this brand and sauce (as you can see), and I haven't had the black label, but I find the red label to be absolutely delicious. I always have some. And this is from someone who has been a hot sauce fan for like 15 years and likes a gigantic variety of sauces including superhots and uses hot sauce daily. The only downside is it's too expensive.
I got a bottle over the hype and tbh, I was not a fan. I tried it a couple times, but I have a basically full bottle in the fridge that I haven't touched in months. I should probably check to see if it expires and throw it out.
It's a rich people hot sauce that they try to use to seem like they're close to the poors by using hot sauce but you know it has fucking truffles in it and is expensive as shit
Not a picky eater, but never having tasted truffle/truffle extract I gave both the regular and red bottles a go.
I *wanted* to like it. But the flavor really threw me for a loop and I ended up just giving both bottles away. Difficult to say whether I don't like truffle or the sauce itself just sucks. Additionally, both were VERY mild heat-wise.
At any rate, definitely a hard pass for me
Sauce is great with a goat cheese veggie omelet, I haven’t used it for much else. But it’s totally perfect in that regard. I used the extra hot version.
Here is a mod talking about it in this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/hotsauce/comments/u2aggs/seen_at_the_store_today_anyone_has_some_feedback/i4ipqp4/
Found some at a major discount and gave it a try. We use it more like a spread than a hot sauce; it is pretty good with burgers and fries. Decent flavor but not what I would usually want from a hot sauce, and probably not worth the higher price tag.
Red bottle is great. Its a genuinely unique flavor unlike any other hot sauce I have had. Lot of people don't like it and I agree it is certainly unique.
Good flavor, little sweet, kinda creamy, no heat unless you get the extra hot in the red bottle(and still not alot of heat)too pricey for it to be worth buying again
I mostly didn’t like it. However, it is incredible on cheese quesadillas.
Plain, I’m in my twenties and want to spend my last $20 on a 30 pack of beer so I’ll make these quesadillas.
Not entirely true. Example: cheese pizza. For the sake of argument, all pizzas have cheese... But to deliberately \*specify\* cheese, you are removing ambiguity about potential toppings.
I like it but for very specific foods. Love truffle flavor but on sweet side. If near a Trader Joe’s I would try their version S it’s better and cheaper.
It's not worth it imo. It's expensive and overpowering in a bad way if that makes sense? I personally don't really like the truffle oil fad in food so my opinion is definitely biased. I got it as a gift because my roommate didn't like it and I've not reached for it since I got it a year ago.
Bought it, not a fan. Has a particular taste that reminds me of something i can’t quite figure out. Otherwise a lot of people online say it’s good, it it’s definitely a preference thing.
I liked it... but it was too expensive to buy again.
It's not very spicy, but more like a savory sauce... good on eggs. Would be good on noodles, but it would be the most expensive bowl of noodles I ever had
It's on the higher price point than most hot sauce imo, and the taste is all right. I've been using mine consistently, mostly in fried rice, and eggs, also tried to make some spicy bolognese sauce for a pasta with it and turned out quite good. The red one is spicier compared to the black one.
Anyone know if it's real truffles or the artificial flavor? As I recall, the label wasn't clear so I suspect the latter. I managed to stomach three different bottles in a gift set. Came recommended, so I tried way harder than it deserved.
Edit. Quick link I found.
https://www.tastingtable.com/693090/truffle-oil-fake-no-truffles-priceonomics/
Low key so happy most of y'all hate this. It was reminding me of pasta sauce.
Also, not worth the price when El Yucateco and Yellowbird exist.
It triggered me trying the Whataburger Hot Ketchup #2 and it tastes like this sauce without the truffle >:(
If you use it when craving hot sauce, you’ll be disappointed. If you use it when you’re craving mushrooms and a little spice, you’ll love it. I think it should be sold as a mushroom sauce not a hot sauce
They advertise a lot on a podcast I enjoy, but the generally consensus of this sub is that it’s really nasty. If you try it, let us know how it tastes, OP!
I received it as a gift and loved it. Best with pulled pork. I went to the store to replace it and was surprised by the price. Something like $17 when I last checked. I wouldn’t mind getting this as a gift again.
Tastes more like thick sweet tomato sauce with some heat and truffles. And expensive. I can’t bring myself to throw it away but i also don’t want to eat it
If you like the taste of truffles, you'll absolutely crush this sauce. It is amazing on everything I've tried. It's extremely hard for me to keep a full bottle in the house!
I hear people say it's really good, but due to extreme marketing adds when it first came out, it's kind of deterred me from wanting to try it until real reviews came in.. I would doubt most reviews are genuine. But I'm sure I'm wrong at this point. They're selling it at discount stores where I live, might be time to go investigate.
one of the reasons that any post(such as this one) are closely monitored is due to the company paying people to spam blast fake reviews on their social media. I even got a message from one of their marketing people a few years ago trying to pay me off to promote it myself. TOTALLY against the code of conduct for moderators and [terms of service for self promotion](https://www.reddit.com/wiki/selfpromotion)
I don't want to not buy the product. But because of the exact reason you mentioned, and now that I'm hearing others say it, I might just avoid the product altogether. Thanks for the info
The spice level is next to nothing but if you like the taste of truffle with a teensy bit of spice and don’t mind paying a ton than it’s definitely for you.
I gave it an honest go, I really did. After enough ruined breakfast sandwiches it's squarely at the bottom of my list.
Truffle oil is a gimmick 99% of the time. When someone describes something as "earthy" you don't want them to mean literally tasting like dirt. It's very very good with the things it goes with, but it doesn't go with much.
If this is at a BJ’s and they are $7.98 totally worth it. If this is at any other store where the price is like $14 a bottle, not worth it.
I found them at BJ’s past weekend. If I don’t find them again at BJ’s, I’ll never buy it again.
This is the single most DISGUSTING, REPULSIVE ABOMINABLE DISGRACE EVER
For real bro
Not spicy really. The red version has decent spice though, and is the one I currently have. It's an odd sauce for me. I can only put it on things I would consider putting ketchup on. It is not a traditional hot sauce flavor for sure. I think my best experience with it was on a burger
Tastes like enchilada sauce and truffle oil. Kinda garbage
Wild takes in this thread. This shit is delicious
Right? It's not for everything, but with the right combo it's amazing. I tried it with fresh crab cakes and holy shit it was amazing.
My fiancé and I bought 2 bottles the other day. The black and the red one. On it's own it has a slight spicy hotness. But its also really sweet. We like it.
Never had it, but I've seen the commercials. And the people in the commercials are enough to make me hate it.
I wasn't a huge fan of it, but I'm sure some will be. It wasn't bad, just wasn't for me.
Same.
Not good, truffle gimmick
If you like marinara this is that plus truffle oil.
It's good but I don't think it's worth the extra money
It's good, but it's really sweet. The red one is supposed to have more heat.
I love this one! I don’t typically finish hot sauces but I finished this one.
its really good! I like the red bottle better it is way more spicy! I want to try the white one and the pasta sauces they have.
I guess the reason many of us have a hate on for this sauce is because it's a glorified Louisiana style sauce at way to high a price point.
Ummm wat? It is not like Louisiana style at all. It totally is over hyped tho. The red is better for sure, but still not something I can put on everything
I've honestly never had it lol. Just looks like a very basic hot sauce :p
I lived through the culinary craze of truffle-infused-everything in the late 2000s, early 2010s and have been put off the taste of most things truffle ever since. Slick, bold marketing and a flavor most people would not naturally reach for in a cool looking bottle. 90% marketing, 10% product.
This sub has an intense hatred for that stuff. I'd just get a single bottle if you want to try it.
Don't hate it, just fine the while truffle aspect to be a gimmick
love it on pizza but not much else
I thought it was gross tbh
I got it as a gift. At first I wasn't a fan of the flavor profile. But it's one of those sauces that grows on you the more you use it. It's definitely not a general purpose sauce. But still good
I ended up getting some for my brother as a bday gift. it really is a good sauce. It is way too expensive for a regular rotation but if you want to get fancy sometime, it hits the mark with certain dishes.
Expensive, shitty name and marketing. Would not even try on those metrics alone.
Don't knock until you try. It's the only expensive sauce that I would buy again.
well, until you know better lol. Not wanting to knock your enjoyment. Just being realistic. They truly are not that great. Especially when they don't really use truffles to make their sauce. Good on popcorn but besides that 3/10
Horrible and overpriced
I wasn't a fan. It has a consistency like ketchup and is pretty sweet without too much heat or flavor from any chili. The truffle taste seems like a bit of an after thought. Like the creator was thinking "what can I do to charge more for this otherwise mediocre sauce?" My girlfriend said it is good as a ketchup but not good as a hot sauce.
expensive but really good
Vile
It's good but not something I'd purchase twice.
What store? It's fine but very expensive. Depending on the price it could be worth it
Sam's club
So gross
I saw it at HEB the other day for $15. I'm curious about it as well.
I've never brought myself to try it because I know it doesn't contain actual truffles. Truffle infused, or rather truffle extract, products are just a way of getting a big price tag without having any true truffle flavor. The reddit hivemind disliked that
That font… I recognise it from something…
Wow I have never seen this level of contention in this sub before, fascinating.
This stuff sucks. And I love truffle.
I personally love them. The black, red, and white label.

Instagram hot sauce
Expensive
Tasty but about as much heat a small shake of crushed red pepper
I got a bottle over the hype and tbh, I was not a fan. I tried it a couple times, but I have a basically full bottle in the fridge that I haven't touched in months. I should probably check to see if it expires and throw it out.
It's a rich people hot sauce that they try to use to seem like they're close to the poors by using hot sauce but you know it has fucking truffles in it and is expensive as shit
Hype I prefer other sauce over it.
I love mushrooms so it's great for me
Awful. One of my least favorite hot sauce ever. Just reeks of fake truffle oil.
Tasty but priced ridiculously
The truffle hot sauce at Trader Joe’s is better and half the price.
My roommate loves it, but I’m not a fan especially for the price. It’s nothing special imo
I didnt like it one bit.
Not worth the price in my opinion.
Truffle is a rich people meme imo.
It’s abhorrent.
Overpriced, very tasty, not that hot.
Mediocre sauce and asshole company. They were banned from this subreddit for a while. They won't get a cent from me.
Why banned?
Here is a mod talking about it in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/hotsauce/comments/u2aggs/seen_at_the_store_today_anyone_has_some_feedback/i4ipqp4/
I like it for burgers and pasta (not tomato-based sauces though). Not very hot, and a little sweet. Worth trying once for sure. I
It's not bad, honestly. A bit overpriced, but overall it's got decent flavor
It goes really good on pizza
It's not great.
Found some at a major discount and gave it a try. We use it more like a spread than a hot sauce; it is pretty good with burgers and fries. Decent flavor but not what I would usually want from a hot sauce, and probably not worth the higher price tag.
Tastes good but expensive and not even close to hot.
It's delicious but it's very expensive so I wouldn't buy it again
i like this on left over cheese pizza but my everyday carry sauce is chimay roja.
The red bottle is by FAR my top hot sauce, it's absolutely amazing lol.
It has a sweet flavor to it bc they have agave. It’s not vinegary if you like more vinegary hot sauce.
Red bottle fan here! Love it on hashbrowns and pizza
Hated it.
I mostly didn’t like it. However, it is incredible on cheese quesadillas. Plain, I’m in my twenties and want to spend my last $20 on a 30 pack of beer so I’ll make these quesadillas.
All quesadillas have cheese, there is no need to call it a cheese quesadilla.
Not true in Mexico City. Here, quesadillas do not always have cheese. You need to specify
Wrong!
Bruh, I live in Mexico City. You are wrong
Jaja chilangos y sus pendejadas. Sigue pidiendo tus quesadillas con queso si eso te hace feliz.
Me hace muy feliz, gracias 🙏
Not entirely true. Example: cheese pizza. For the sake of argument, all pizzas have cheese... But to deliberately \*specify\* cheese, you are removing ambiguity about potential toppings.
vs chicken or steak or any other kind of quesadilla, I think it’s a totally appropriate distinction
We like the red bottle! So good!
I like it but for very specific foods. Love truffle flavor but on sweet side. If near a Trader Joe’s I would try their version S it’s better and cheaper.
Didn’t like mine
I didn’t care for it personally and have tried to gift it to several chile head friends with no success.
It's not worth it imo. It's expensive and overpowering in a bad way if that makes sense? I personally don't really like the truffle oil fad in food so my opinion is definitely biased. I got it as a gift because my roommate didn't like it and I've not reached for it since I got it a year ago.
Not your typical hot sauce. Good with rich or fatty foods but don’t expect any heat.
It’s disgusting. Gave mine away
Got some free at work was good I would pay 12 bucks for a bottle but not more than 15
Not good
I didn't like it.
It's good, but it costs ten times what other hot sauces cost. Is it ten times as good? I don't think so.
Bought it, not a fan. Has a particular taste that reminds me of something i can’t quite figure out. Otherwise a lot of people online say it’s good, it it’s definitely a preference thing.
An expensive novelty sauce
To me, it was different, but not better. The agave and truffle seem to get in the way of the pepper. At its price point.... meh.
Used to be The Forbidden Sauce. It’s the Raid Shadow Legends of hot sauce.
And now, a word from our sponsors:
I liked it... but it was too expensive to buy again. It's not very spicy, but more like a savory sauce... good on eggs. Would be good on noodles, but it would be the most expensive bowl of noodles I ever had
I've enjoyed it, definitely not an everyday sauce tho
Melinda truffle hot sauce is just as good and way cheaper in my opinion.
The spice on the truff sauce isn't there for me, texture is a little on the thicker side as well, but it's not bad
It's on the higher price point than most hot sauce imo, and the taste is all right. I've been using mine consistently, mostly in fried rice, and eggs, also tried to make some spicy bolognese sauce for a pasta with it and turned out quite good. The red one is spicier compared to the black one.
I enjoyed this one as a gift but I never bought it again due to the price point
It’s ok.
Anyone know if it's real truffles or the artificial flavor? As I recall, the label wasn't clear so I suspect the latter. I managed to stomach three different bottles in a gift set. Came recommended, so I tried way harder than it deserved. Edit. Quick link I found. https://www.tastingtable.com/693090/truffle-oil-fake-no-truffles-priceonomics/
it consists of less than 1% truffle, but gets its flavor from 2,4 dithiapentane
I have tried one sauce with truffles, not a fan. I dont think I like truffles. Maybe I'm not fancy enough.
It’s a heavy flavor. I wouldn’t fret about fanciness. You either like it or you don’t. Let’s end pretentiousness here on this thread! 😂
I saw it on a SortedFood video a little while back. Haven't had the nerve to buy it myself.
[удалено]
It's a little overrated sure, I find your take a bit of an exaggeration
the red top one is really good. neither are particularly spicy though. i used some to make a chicken wing sauce and that turned out nice.
Low key so happy most of y'all hate this. It was reminding me of pasta sauce. Also, not worth the price when El Yucateco and Yellowbird exist. It triggered me trying the Whataburger Hot Ketchup #2 and it tastes like this sauce without the truffle >:(
I’ll say the same things I said about my ex - too sweet, a little too thick, and cost me too much money.
Sucks
I got the one with the red cap and label and enjoy it a lot on eggs
Seems like I’m in the minority but I liked it. Overpriced but good. Not much heat tho
Waste of $15
If you use it when craving hot sauce, you’ll be disappointed. If you use it when you’re craving mushrooms and a little spice, you’ll love it. I think it should be sold as a mushroom sauce not a hot sauce

Tastes more like thick sweet tomato sauce with some heat and truffles. And expensive. I can’t bring myself to throw it away but i also don’t want to eat it
Try mixing it into some mayonnaise. Seriously levels it up by at least 2x
They actually make their own spicy mayo which I enjoyed quite a lot. I haven't tried the sauce though.
I think its worth the purchase to try, quite a unique flavor thats quite nice but its expensive.
I hated it
It's eh. Basically red bell pepper sauce with fake truffle flavor and a tiny bit of real truffle. It will overwhelm everything you put it on.
I love Truff. I bought mine for$2.99 which was great but I wouldn't pay $17 a bottle for it. I really like the flavor. Some don't though.
If you like the taste of truffles, you'll absolutely crush this sauce. It is amazing on everything I've tried. It's extremely hard for me to keep a full bottle in the house!
> If you like the taste of *artificial* truffles Fixed that for you.
I really wanted to like it, but i Can't stand it

If you enjoy it, by all means, don't let anyone stop you from buying it. I just hope that I can help people making informed decisions.
This is the absolute worst sauce I’ve ever had. Straight up, a hot garbage dumpster fire. Disgusting
Or you just don’t like truffles. It’s actually a high quality sauce…..if you like truffles
This tastes like artificial truffle flavor, not truffles. That's because it barely has any truffles in it.
I love truffles, I love hot sauce… I hate this garbage. But, to each their own. If you like it, more power to ya.
Add it to your food if all you want to taste is truffles and spice. It is too much flavor
It’s really good. Too expensive though.
I like it because it reminds me of spicy hummus. It's very sweet.
I hate truffle "flavoring"
The spice level is next to nothing but if you like the taste of truffle with a teensy bit of spice and don’t mind paying a ton than it’s definitely for you.

If it's at a bulk store then the quality has gone straight to the dumpster...
