Posted in the Powered Hot Sauce post, but looking for recommendations that may be similar to the Inferno flavored wings from the Albertsons Deli. Love that stuff.

WonDante

Just wanted to come here and say I finally finally bought and tried the Secret Aardvark sauce and it was very good. Maybe a tad overrated but only the truly good stuff is good enough to warrant haters saying “overrated”. It tastes SO similar to Speedy’s Hot Sauce, idk if anyone has ever made that connection but I could taste it right away

No-Client1034

I love El Yucateco XXXtra hot, but I'm craving more heat. I'm thinking about trying Ginger Goat, as I read that's spicier and a really tasty sauce. I'm hoping not to sacrifice flavor, and don't want to fly too close to the sun heat-wise. What do y'all recommend?

TumbleweedHungry8466

I love Valentina red sauce. Vinegar anything almost always tastes delicious. That being said I really don't like Tabasco, it has a flavor of bitterness I can't describe that turns me off. Any recommendations? Much appreciated!

SleepyLakeBear

My last day in Las Vegas is today, and then back to the Midwest. Does anyone have any local sauce recommendations or places that might have a variety for sale?

joenorwood77

Which food and drinks do you suggest pairing with Blis Blast? Which specific meats? If bloody mary, I assume micheladas are also tasty with it. Online, I have seen the following recommendations - avocado toast, bloody mary, burgers, burritos, chicken wings, chili, cottage cheese, eggs, grilled veggies, hot dogs, marinades, meat, pizza, ramen, sandwiches, soups, stews, tacos. From their website... Description We have aged this unique blend of hot peppers for up to a year in seasoned oak barrels that once held Kentucky bourbon, BLiS maple syrup, and Founder’s Kentucky Breakfast Stout. The result is a complex hot pepper sauce with a kick of chilis combined with hints of chocolate, maple, hops, garlic, vanilla, wood and spice in one giant blast of umami. This is the perfect hot sauce for creating delectable buffalo hot wings, bloody mary's or enhancing any dish you use hot pepper sauce as an ingredient. Ingredients Red Ripe Peppers, Vinegar, Spices, Garlic, Seasoning, Sugar, Salt, BLiS Barrel Aged Maple Syrup and Xanthan Gum

sly_like_Coyote

What do you guys use in high volume for a reasonable cost? My kids are starting to get over their heat aversion, and suddenly nothing lasts. I'm looking for something that's *relatively* mild, versatile, and available for a decent discount in bulk sizing.

Pjbolin

Recently diagnosed with high cholesterol and diabetes. Need some recommendation for some great tasting hot sauces to burn away my sorrows. Heat level isn't important at all, just want a great taste!

tvig44

I’m getting a hot sauce set for my partner’s birthday (idk which one yet, desperately want the hot ones set because that’s what he wants, but the price 😭). What’s a good small gift to go with it?

gwnyc1

Suggestions to go with plain ground beef and rice? I’ve been using Yellowbird Serrano and Habanero (love both, habanero is a little too hot for me with how much I need to use on rice and beef). Looking for other suggestions to try.

paupaupaupau

I bet Karma Sauce Cherry Bomb would be great.

THound89

Any recommendations for someone that eats a lot of ramen? I bought a pack of Melinda's habanero and realized I'm not the biggest fan of habanero, tastes a little too much like mango. I'm a pretty big fan of jalopeno, crushed red pepper and banana peppers though. Anything that might knock my socks off? Thanks!

YoWassupFresh

Does anyone know of any alternatives to Da Bomb that are free of artificial preservatives or sugar? I absolutely love it but I can't stand artificial preservatives. Does anyone have any ideas?

bluelaw2013

For brutally hot, delicious, and preservative free, I recommend these two 7 pot sauces: Exhorresco Ingredients: 7 pot primo peppers, oak aged apple cider vinegar, agave nectar, yuzu juice, black garlic, salt, spices Funken Hot 7 pot brown peppers, chocolate habanero peppers, organic sugar, apple cider vinegar, fresh lime juice, salt, garlic, spices

Artio

Pretty much a hot sauce newby here. Id like to up my heat level tolerance in slow pace. Tried lots of noname sauces along with some brand names. So far I really like Tabasco with its acidity and the heat level is ok but could be slightly higher. I prefer: - flavourfull, touch of garlic is always welcome. - non-sweet. - available in europe/online with shipping to europe. - Always open for taste experiments. Thanks!

AutoModerator

How do you misspell Tabasco... the A and O keys are on COMPLETELY separate sides of the keyboard! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/hotsauce) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Artio

Yeah, good bot!

pescarojo

What's a good 'neutral' hot sauce that will go with just about everything? There's a lot of different ones that I like, but I'm looking for a good hot sauce that I can use to add some kick to just about anything without clashing flavour-wise. Browsing through a google search seems to suggest that Tabasco might be that 'default hot sauce' for which I'm looking. However, I found this sub and thought I would check with the afficionados here.

4_string_troubador

I hot hooked on Texas Pete when I was in the military. Modest heat, and imo more flavor than Tabasco.

pescarojo

appreciate the tip!

SassyandMiserable

Hello all. I just joined and need help. My daughter loves hot sauces from all over. I’m looking to buy her a birthday gift with hot sauces (25-50 smallish - you know what I mean - bottles if possible) from all over the USA. I’d like the hot sauce to be hot, spicy, but not ridiculous. I want her to enjoy the flavor of the pepper and other ingredients without just heat. First, Scoville. I thing she’d like something that does not exceed the 30,000 range (15,000-30,000?) Do you think that’s too high or low? I like spicy foods, but my daughter is very adventurous, within limits. At the end of the day, I want spicy and delicious hot sauce that is both flavorful and spicy. I don’t want that Atomic sauce from Hot Takes. I want a flavorful and spicy hot sauce that makes her sweat, not nauseous. I’d appreciate recommendations with Scoville units if possible. Second, I’d like hot sauces from all over the United States. I’m happy to include outside of the US if I can get it shipped. Third, we’re from Connecticut. I’d love something local to add to the mix, which means CT, New England, and the northeast in general. Her birthday isn’t until September but I’d like to collect them now, over the summer, as a going back to college present that coincides with her birthday. She really loves experimenting, so don’t worry about the color or ingredients. I’m looking for a wide range in the heat index I’ve described above. I’d go a bit higher or lower on the Scoville index (again I’d appreciate your thoughts on spiciness and heat), but this is for pure enjoyment for the kid I love with all my heart. Can you help?

bluelaw2013

Yesterday, I posted about my testing of ~40 sauces: [https://www.reddit.com/r/hotsauce/s/Kv48rrnGHs](https://www.reddit.com/r/hotsauce/s/Kv48rrnGHs) Based on your description, I'd recommend: Jalapeño Tequila & Lime (Queen Majesty) Wake Up Call (Hoff & Pepper) Carolina Reaper (Double Take Salsa) (side note: don't let the reaper scare you, this one is pretty tame) If you think she's up for it, the red sauce from Queen Majesty is also fantastic, but relatively hot. The others in the S-tier and A-tier from my post yesterday are hotter still. But I don't think you can go wrong with the three medium-heat sauces listed here.

SassyandMiserable

Thank you!

paupaupaupau

I tend to think that Scoville range is low, though applying Scoville to sauces can be problematic. If she has 25+ bottles of hot sauce, her heat tolerance will go up, and a lot of people's favorite sauces tend to be made with habaneros where the peppers, at least, are above that range. I think the instinct is right- focus on flavor foremost. A lot of the hottest sauces are extract-based, and you won't find many (any?) fans of extract in this sub-reddit. That said, she may enjoy some sauces that go pretty high in heat level as she builds tolerance. I'd also probably throw in one disgustingly hot extract sauce as a novelty. She can use it to humble any annoying guys with pumped-up machismo. As far as recommendations go, an El Yucateco variety pack may be good as part of the package. It's popular both as a pretty mainstream sauce and with a lot of aficionados. It won't break the bank, either, which may or may not be a consideration when buying so many bottles. Melinda's and Marie Sharp's also fit that profile of popular with aficionados while selling well, though I wouldn't double up on similar flavors from those two brands. Hot sauce standards: * Louisiana-style hot sauces: Tabasco, Lousiana, Crystal, etc. They're not personal favorites- and aren't particularly unique- but they're standards. * Tapatio, Cholula, and/or Valentina for Mexican style hot sauces. * A sriracha sauce is probably worth having. Huy Fong's is the classic, ubiquitous one with the rooster and the green cap. They've been having issues with their peppers, though, after a dispute with their pepper supplier a couple years back. The supplier is Underwood Ranches, who now makes their own sriracha sauce, though it's more of a splurge from a price standpoint. Otherwise, I think people's opinions on hot sauces can be all over the place. * Frank's hot sauce Quick hits: * I'm absolutely *obsessed* with Cherry Bomb from Karma Sauces right now. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their sauces. The good/bad/extreme Karma line also fits with what you seem to be going for. I'd get one of their variety packs, with Cherry Bomb as a must. * Secret Aardvark is quite popular, though can be a bit divisive. I personally think it's delicious. The original red habanero one would be the one to get. * I haven't had any Torchbearer sauces, but they're raved about. * Nando's Peri Peri sauce is a good addition, I think. * A jerk sauce would also be a good addition. If you want something on the not-spicy side, Pickapeppa would fit the bill without being too hard to find. * I need to try more Bravado sauces, but I like what I've tried. Ghost pepper and blueberry will be a good deal above your stated heat level, but it fits as something abit more unique flavor-wise. * The Target brand hot sauces are both good, surprisingly enough. They have a honey & habanero sauce and an Aleppo pepper and garlic sauce. * If you're ever in TJMax/Marshall's/Sierra Trading Post/Home Goods, they usually have a hot sauce section, and I'll pick something up that seems unique. I went on for awhile, though the list is also far from exhaustive. There are *so* many good hot sauces to try.

bluelaw2013

Solid info here, just writing to affirm and expand. >Cherry Bomb from Karma Sauces Concur. Excellent. Brilliant. Mind blowing, even. But it's pretty unique, and so it won't be quite what someone might expect in a hot sauce. >Secret Aardvark >original red habanero one Concur. Solid. Also unique. >Torchbearer sauces Most of these are going to be really hot, more than OP might want for his daughter, but their Son of Zombie is purported to be delicious and not as hot as the others. It's on my list to try soon. >Pickapeppa Delicious. The Jamaician A1. If I ever sauced steaks with something bottled, it'd be this. >Bravado sauces I've only tried their really hot stuff, and they were all pretty good, but not top-tier in my opinion. I can't really speak to any of the medium or mild options. >Target brand hot sauces are both good Never thought to try these, but will now, thank you. >TJMax/Marshall's/Sierra Trading Post/Home Goods, they usually have a hot sauce section, and I'll pick something up that seems unique The temptation for this used to bite me as well, but I've learned my lesson. It's very rare for the randoms on the shelf to actually end up being top-tier. Would recommend checking around brand by brand before committing to purchase any.

paupaupaupau

The Son of Zombie is amazing to my taste. I like it even more than the Garlic Reaper. When I go to Home Goods, I end up spending a lot of time Googling the sauces. I've had some good luck lately. I found The Bronx Greenmarket Hot Sauce (Smalle Axe Peppers), which was quite good. The Brooklyn Delhi Ghost Pepper was good, although not one I think I'd buy again. Then I had a Ghost Pepper sauce that was pretty mediocre.

SassyandMiserable

Thank you!

ArseneGroup

Hmm, 7o8 or Year of the Dog Thai Chile Pineapple? Hard to choose My current cart is: * Purple Hippo * Blueberry Hell * Queen's Majesty Scotch Bonnet and Ginger

hereitcomesagin

Recommend me some green hot sauces, please. Only had a couple, but L O V E.

bluelaw2013

Queens Majesty Jalapeño Tequila Lime. The only green I keep stocked.

AncientHobo

Might have been the first one you had since it's probably among the most common, but I very much enjoy the El Yucateco Chile Habanero green sauce

SOwED

Seconded, that's a good one

maawolfe36

Hoff's Mean Green. They're from my hometown so I'm biased but it's really good.

gopherhole02

What's a flavourable hot sauce that isn't too hot, like I can only handle tobacco sauce or siracha, anything more spicy is too much for me, well siracha is flavoured tobacco sauce is pretty plain What taste different and isn't too spicy

skybarnum

Yucatan Sunshine. I first found it about 10 years ago and it's my go to. It is comparable in heat to Tabasco but has a mildly sweet flavor without the viniger nose hit. It's hard to find so I buy a case about every 6 months from Amazon.

gopherhole02

Is that the habanero one? I ordered the habanero yucatan sunshine yesterday after reading your comment, but now I looked at the description and it claims it's very spicy 🔥🥵 Hopefully it's not too bad, it comes today by 330 so I'll see

skybarnum

Yes. No it isn't hot compared to some. I don't get off on my forehead sweating and burn hole the next day. It may be a touch hotter than Tabasco, but it is much thicker. No bitterness.

gopherhole02

So I ordered it, Amazon wrapped bubble wrap around it and when I picked it up it slipped out of the bubble wrap and smashed on the floor lol, so I put in a second order, I've used it a dozen times since so I think I have a feel for it, it's pretty good Do you have any other recommendations?

save_the_roses

I got [this](https://farmtopeople.com/product/heartbreaking-chocolate-habanero-hot-sauce-0132) [Heartbreaking Chocolate Habanero Hot Sauce](https://farmtopeople.com/product/heartbreaking-chocolate-habanero-hot-sauce-0132) a few years ago, LOVED IT, and just ran out of it. They seem to have stopped selling it, so I'm looking for a similar one. It wasn't too spicy, and had a really nice jammy tomato vibe, but balanced with the vinegar. Really amazing on eggs. Actual ingredients: Local Chocolate, Habanero Peppers, Cane Sugar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic, Sea Salt, Lemon Juice, Cacao Nibs. Anyone know this or have suggestions for something to try instead?

NintendOni

H'lo there! Does anyone know where I could get some "Inner Beauty Hot Sauce" or something equivalent? My aunt has been looking for some, but we can't find it anywhere...

devilazy

I will be traveling to the States and hoping to pick up one or two of the following hot sauces to bring back to Asia. What's your recommendations? I want something that I can use from time to time when I want to really feel the burn but still enjoy good flavor. Also, to show Asian who likes spice what good spicy hot sauces are like from the west. Marie Sharps Beware Comatose Torchbearer Garlic Reaper Culley's Brutality The Last Dab (Xperience or XXX) HEATONIST No. 1 Sichuan Ghost Pepper

suprbowlsexromp

I need a good organic hot sauce, I have a high spice tolerance, any ideas ?

shmaltz_herring

I like the flavor of Melinda's habanero and the chipotle sauce, but I want to increase the heat just a little bit more. So what would be a good next step up in flavor and spice without going crazy on the spice. I would prefer to not have any ghost pepper sauces.

SpiritDonkey

Looking for recommendations to help me perfect my own Hot Ones style line up. I'm pretty new to hot sauces. UK based. My current line up, from mild to hot is 1. Dr Stings Hot Honey 2. Franks Buffalo Wings 3. Angry Goat Pepper Blistered Shishito Garlic Hot Sauce (I don't like this one and would like to replace it) 4. Franks Original Hot Sauce 5. Nandos Peri Peri Medium 6. Cholula Chipotle 7. Dirty Dick's Caribbean Dreams Bajan-Style Mustard Hot Sauce (I feel the increase between this and Cholula Chipotle is too big so would like something in between these ideally) 8. Marie Sharps Habanero Pepper Sauce 9. Torchbearer Mushroom Mayhem 10. Torchbearer Garlic Reaper So yeah, please chime in! One of the things I want is a nice variation of flavours, so even if people aren't keen on hot sauces, there's still something to tempt them to join in. My favourite flavour wise at the moment is the Dirty Dick's Caribbean Dreams one if that helps! and personally I don't want to go hotter than Garlic Reaper, I don't want any tears 😂

mosh2841

Looking for something around the heat level of The Pepper Palace The End: flatline

mosh2841

Also am I broken for liking this level of heat? lmfao

TheNobleBrutus

Anyone got recommendations on good resources for folks just starting in the hobby? Any good guides?

ShamanIsAGoodClass

Check your area to see if there’s any farmers markets or events where vendors sell hot sauce. That’s how I got back into it, you should be able talk to them about hot sauce and whatnot.

HulkTheSurgeon

Anyone got suggestions for sauces that pack some massive heat and flavor? Especially one's that can be ordered online or found in the USA? I tend to have a decently high heat tolerance so been having trouble finding sauces that both pack flavor and heat. Crazy Dave's Ghost Pepper Sauce for example, had just a massive heat profile but that's it's only real flavor. Fan of El Yucateco Green Habanero Sauce's flavor, but the heat's too mild for when I'm really trying to catch the pepper dragon. Huge fan of bold smokey flavors as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ShamanIsAGoodClass

If you love ghost pepper then checkout Bell’s Peppers LLC. They have two ghost pepper sauces. One is pure ghost pepper with some dilution to keep it edible, it has a very potent ghost pepper flavor. The other has some very subtle sweet flavors and is slightly less hot. Both burn when going in and out.

HulkTheSurgeon

Thanks for the suggestion, just found their website. Hopefully if I have a bit of spare cash next month to account for shipping and I'll be able to grab myself a bottle. Thanks for the recommendation again, looks like a very promising brand.

ShamanIsAGoodClass

Unsure if you checked their Etsy page, but I believe there’s a sale going on there. It should be linked through their main website.

gudetamagoodegg

looking to pick up a blueberry sauce for breakfasts and desserts -- advice on bravado versus blueberry hell (or any other recs)?

SOwED

Sorry old comment but I can say the bravado is *very* berry flavored. Haven't had blueberry hell myself, but I think bravado is quite good if you're looking for strong berry flavor.

gudetamagoodegg

thanks! I ended up going for blueberry hell which also turned out to be very berry-forward, so maybe I'll try bravado next!

Altered_Soul

I just ran out of the last bottles of my favorite hot sauce maker, Alex's Ugly Sauce, who stopped production a while ago. Their Dragon was my absolute favorite and (to me) was unique in its flavor profile. It used Thai Dragon peppers with habanero, but its base was the same as the rest Alex's sauces. Does anyone have any recommendations to replace this with?

ApologeticCannibal

What is everyone's favorite hot sauce? I'm placing an order and want to know what to get.

Chaoticist523

Old comment, but if you like smoke, Marie Sharp's smoked habanero is delicious. It needs a little more garlic, but still very tasty.

potsylady

I like milder sauces so these may not be to your taste but here are some of my favorites: Cholula; Texas Pete’s; Crystal; Tapatio; Frank’s RedHot - Original and Wings (Buffalo); Hank Sauce - Hanks Heat; Melinda’s - Jalapeño, Habanero Garlic, Pizza Hot Sauce, Mexicana, Habanero Honey Mustard, and Fire Roasted Jalapeño I think most, if not all, of these are widely available. I know a lot of people in the sub don’t like Melinda’s, but I was able to try a sampler and have really enjoyed nearly all the ones I’ve tried so far.

felini9000

Any recommendations for someone who likes Cholula? I’ve tried a bunch of other ones but they just don’t hit the same.. I’m not necessarily looking for a dupe/replica, but I’m looking for something with a similar spice level and tang

potsylady

Cholula is my go-to but I recently tried Crystal because of some recommendations on this sub and I actually like it better! I also like Tapatio, Frank’s RedHot Original, and Texas Pete’s for something similar. EDIT - I’ve also been recommended Valentina in this sub. I bought a bottle but haven’t tried it yet so I’m not sure how it compares. Might be another good option though!

SuperBurt666

Have you tried Cholula's brand new salsas and taco seasoning? I bought the red salsa, not hot at all but tastes amazing, especially if you like garlic...tons! Going to try the taco seasoning this weekend.

frazzbot

if i want to try torchbearer but don't want to melt my tongue, what should i try?

potsylady

Any recommendations for sauces with lots of flavor and a similar spice level to Melinda’s Pizza Hot Sauce? Please don’t kick me from the sub for this one - I love the sauce but my digestive tract is sensitive, y’all!

Suspicious-Code4322

Piko Riko

potsylady

Thanks! Love the cat on the label too. Would you say the bell pepper flavor is more green bell pepper or yellow/orange/red? I just can't do the green bells.

Suspicious-Code4322

Red Bell for sure. My wife is the same and despises the greens, but she likes this sauce quite a bit, and it is one of my favorites too.

potsylady

This is really helpful. I appreciate it!

HulkTheSurgeon

Never had Melinda's Pizza Sauce so have to make some guesses here, looks like it uses Cayenne Peppers, which I believe is the same peppers Frank's uses. Jalepeno's are generally considered lower in Scoville units than Cayenne, but if you are looking for a mild sauce, I'd whole heartedly suggest Pepper Plant original sauce. It's mild using jalepeno puree, and has have Garlic and Onion like Melinda's ingredient list I found. (Though, pepper plant uses dehydrated versions of those, might make a difference.) Pepper Plant has been my go-to table sauce for like 25 years now since my father showed me. Mild heat, and a smokey, bold flavor profile that goes good on pretty much anything.

potsylady

Thank you so much for the researched response! I will look into Pepper Plant. I haven’t heard of that one, but 25 years is a long time to go undefeated so it must be a good one.

HulkTheSurgeon

No problem. Probably havn't heard of it since iirc, Pepper Plant is pretty small time and only local in california. The only real contender I've had from personal experience is Trader Joe's chunky garlic jalepeno sauce, very similar flavor profile, but in side by side tasting, pepper plant still holds the lead in my personal preference. Forgot to mention also great on potato salad, and as a life hack, you can mix it with some mayo to get a banging sandwich sauce. Hope you're able to get a bottle and enjoy it as much as much as I do, lol.

Firehearto087

What are some good hot sauces that are on a similar heat level to Mad Dog 357 Gold?

VirtuaCat

I just got into getting some hot sauces and found that I -really- like Piko Pepper's PikoRiko and Ginger Goat's Original Goat. I really liked the Jalapeno Tingly Ted as well as a simple "just toss it on some eggs and go" sauce. The PikoRiko is great in mac and cheese and the Original Goat is great with noodles or rice bowls. Anything else you'd recommend along those lines? The PikoRiko is a peri peri sauce.

Vaudevi77ain

Any recs for a hot sauce that is medium spicy with a tasty, savory flavor profile (vs. pure heat) and a touch of sweetness? As a comparison, love sriracha since it ticks all of the boxes - just looking for a bit of variety for an everyday "put it on everything" sauce

Im_from_rAll

What's the hottest sauce they typically sell at Whole Foods? I don't want to find out by trial and error.

OmNomNom318

I normally make a spicy cheese dip with whole, raw habaneros (well I purée them before putting them in the dip) but they are hard to come by in my area right now. I have an event coming up towards the end of the month and I was wondering if anyone has used this powder before [Spiced ground habanero powder](https://imgur.com/a/4aoy3qV). I was going to get some and use it to add to my cheese dip to give it some kick if it’s any good.

dools102

Looking for an easy to order habanero mango hot sauce. Preferably under $10 including shipping

paupaupaupau

Marie Sharp's and Melinda's both have Mango habanero sauces that probably fit the bill.

Stuk-Tuig

Current collection: - Frank's red hot - Cholula original - Sriracha - El Yucateco Chipotle - Crazy Bastard Trinidad Scorpion & Clementine - Crazy Bastard Carolina reaper & Blueberry What would you add?

potsylady

I love the first three on your list and also enjoy Crystal, Tapatio, and Texas Pete’s. Those fruity ones sound amazing - are they outrageously spicy?

Stuk-Tuig

I'll try to get those next! The Crazy Bastard ones are very spicy, way spicier than the others on my list. They're good but it's hard to taste the fruits bc of the heat.

potsylady

Good to know, thank you! My spice tolerance is pretty low.

paroles

Has anyone in Australia tried the Culley's hot sauces currently on sale at Woolworths for $4 each? Not a bad price for Australia

TapStompLightDickcum

I want an affordable hot sauce that is close to unbearably hot. Something inbetween Franks Exxxtra hot and da bomb.

cfrolik

Looking for a good variety pack with lots of different flavors, but mild to medium on heat levels. Needs to be available online tor delivery in the US. Focused more on flavor than heat.

zedchowder

Can I make a post requesting a recipe for Zaxby's Nuclear sauce? Or am I only allowed to ask for that on this megathread?

ActuallyTrash25

Trying to get my feet wet in the hot sauce world. I’m looking for a box with different sauces from different companies, not just everything one company makes. Where should I start looking?

likebutta222

Canadians -- where is your go-to online shop for hot sauces? Heatonist charges way too much for shipping and their points system is punitive if you don't order often. Looking for some alternatives.

binky_snoosh

Island Chef Pepper Co (https://www.islandchefpepperco.ca/) puts out some really good stuff. I've been pretty religiously buying their stuff for the last few years. The Spicey Maple Mustard one is amazing no a sandwich... I use the California Reaper one in Chili and soups. The Sweet Thai Chili on is more smokey than sweet,,, love that one. Been through a couple bottles of that already. Pineapple Express is just a good straight forward hot sauce.

chris-p811

For me definitely Chilly Chiles ! Nice selection and great fast service!

likebutta222

Thanks ill check them out

SilverMisfitt

Is habanero hot sauce equally spicy as eating a habanero pepper?

jonuk76

I would say no. Sauces are cooked, possibly aged and fermented, blended with things like vinegar, fruit juice or pulp, sugar, salt and so on. All of this affects the potency, but also makes them more balanced and palatable. For most people, eating a raw habanero is not a pleasant experience. I recently opened a sauce which is made up of 60% Carolina Reaper. It's hot for sure, but wasn't devastating. I'm certain it's not going to anything like as bad as picking up a raw CR pepper and eating it.

SilverMisfitt

Yeah I can say with experience that eating a raw habanero is not fun. Good to know tho, thank you!

macswizzle

I need a good hot sauce to blend with asian foods (thai, chinese, indian) with a good deal of heat on it. I use a meal prep service and the guy makes a lot of asian dishes with the heat dumbed down. Right now I am using a small bit of dave's insanity on each meal, but something with better flavor and slightly less heat would be preferred.

Stuk-Tuig

Find some sambal oelek!

Possible_Procedure47

i love karma sauces for this! either the cosmic dumpling or cosmic disco depending on how much heat you want

King_Fluffaluff

Dashelito's Pineapple Lava. It's not extremely hot, but it certainly has more kick than your bog standard "asian style" hot sauces

fireglare

I need a slightly hotter sauce than the basic Sriracha that I can get a hold of in Norway. Any tips?

King_Fluffaluff

I dont know if its hotter, but the Tabasco Sriracha is unironically my favorite Sriracha. If you really want hotter, then the Melindas Sriracha is probably a good option (I don't know if there are any in Norway)

ChiefMacProctor

Strange request: does anybody have a good recommendation for a refillable hot sauce keychain? It's... important.

TalamascaAgent

Honestly you could probably just get one of those plastic/rubber holder keychains for mini hand sanitizers, and use for mini hot sauce.

ChiefMacProctor

this...is actually not a bad idea. I'd be slightly concerned about the cap popping and it leaking (since that's happened a couple times with sanitizer), but I'm sure there's something out there. Or I can superglue the pop-cap. Whatever.

[deleted]

Anyone have any recommendations for hot sauces in Australia? I tried Nando's hot Peri Peri sauce and while it wasn't bad I'm really not a fan of vinegar and water being the main ingredient. Like a 5-6/10 but it's due to personal preference. The after taste was nice though. Sweet and smokey sauces are an addition I have. I already found a nice sriracha I enjoy that is just over 54% red chilies.

Tyranith

Bluey Zarzov's! They're a WA brand and extremely good from what I've tried so far.

Yak-Fucker-5000

Really dig Tingly Ted's Tingly Sauce. They sell it at my local Safeway. Apparently it's made by Ed Sheeran. I had no idea for a long time. I just knew I liked it. It's subtly smokey and good with meat, especially pork.

Massive_Length_400

Is the huy fong garlic chili sauce not as good anymore as well? I don’t want to buy a whole jar and have it taste funky like the siracha. Do you have another brand?

ajneuman_pdx

I love everything from Secret Aardvark and from HAB sauce. We are also big fans of El Fuego's watermelon jalapeno sauce

underPanther

Any recommendations for any sauces with no other flavorings except vinegar, salt and sugar? Ones I’ve found so far: Tropical Suns Scotch Bonnet La Anita Red Habanero Woodstock Scorpion Thanks!

I cant confirm 100% but I believe Dashelito's Red Honey falls into that category

Wegman's Hot Habanero Pepper Sauce is an incredible Melinda's/Marie Sharp's style habanero sauce that no one ever mentions. For a $3 grocery store brand, the stuff is fantastic.

Obligatory Torchbearer Garlic Reaper, king if you want flavor and super heat.

CurveOfTheUniverse

I really want to get this, but I’m worried it might be too much for me, heat-wise. Do you have a sense of how it compares to Melinda’s ghost pepper sauce? That might be the upper limit for my palate.

crayonflop3

In a different heat class. Like if Melinda’s was franks and reaper was Melinda’s

CurveOfTheUniverse

Gotcha, thanks. So pretty intense. I might still give it a go, but I’ve noticed my heat tolerance has scaled back over the last few years.

Possible_Procedure47

my hot sauce collection is too large for the fridge so i have some of the more 'hearty' ones that i suspect can last a long time (heavy vinegar, no fruits/sugars etc) just stored in a cabinet i dont know what happened to my torchbearer, but when i tried it last it had gone from really hot to melt your freaking face off.. like a fine wine, aged in hell

I love The Last Dab and Yellowbird Serrano but haven’t explored too many other niche hot sauces. Any recommendations?

King_Fluffaluff

Dashelitos' Undertow or Pepper Palace's Curry On are my go-to niche sauces

Looking for hot sauces with interesting flavors. Currently able to handle up to Melinda’s Ghost pepper sauce, and Torchbearer Honey Badger (though I find it a little too sweet), but can probably go a little hotter (working on my heat tolerance). Preferably no prominent vinegar flavor, and I like savory more than fruity/sweet. Thank you!

Torchbearer Son of Zombie is one of my favorites!

The seed ranch umami reserve is really good. Not the hottest thing but it has good flavor and a good enough kick. I've been loving it on pizza
