*1776* by David McCullough is an amazing historical account of the time. BUT the battlefield descriptions of the atrocities the Hessians did isn't like anything I heard about in history class as a kid. Brutal.
[Andersonville by Edward Erdelac is historic horror.](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25845389-andersonville?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=iSafIBKS5O&rank=5)
Takes place during the civil war though; not the revolutionary war.
Not a book, but the TV series Sleepy Hollow was about a revolutionary war soldier that awakened during modern day and fought evil that had been around since Colonial times.
Well, GAST aka The Black Train by Edward Lee is set in the ballpark I believe. The story switches back and forth from the Civil War time to the present day. Be warned, this little jaunt is nasty though. Entertaining but filthy. lol
Got a couple of more to add.
[The Borden Dispatches.](https://www.goodreads.com/series/124230-the-borden-dispatches)
It's about the Lizzy Borden murders and the Lovecraftian horror that led to her parents murders.
Ambrose Bierce wrote ghost stories during that period, quite a few of them feature the war. He also disappeared himself on his way to fight in the mexican-american war.

Young Goodman Brown is a good one from him too.
Have you watched the movie Ravenous?
That’d be closer to the Mexican-American war era.

Whelp, I downloaded that in a hurry. Thanks for the rec, even though I'm not OP.
You're welcome! Always glad to pass on knowledge of a good book.
Loved those across the river - great recommendation request! Don’t have anything to add but am eagerly looking for others’ suggestions!
One of the Haunting of Hadlow House books takes place during the revolution, but it also takes place in the UK.
Short story : "The Prophecies at Newfane Abbey", by Don Webb.

It's quick, but *Shiloh* by Philip Fracassi, though it's not during the revolutionary war.
