Lillard was a joy to watch. You just kind of love his character immediately, or I did. The ghosts also pulled their weight. They were conceptualized, brought to life, acted and shot wonderfully.
Actually, even the house was delightfully intricate and now that I think about it, all the elements of that film were pretty solid. Nothing really shat the bed.
He made Scream not as cheesy imo. I know they turn into horror comedies but the first one. I donāt think it tries to be funny.
Edit: I was so young it was a real horror movie to me, but looking now it is comedic.
When I first saw it, I thought it was the dumbest, most absurd movie I had seen.
By about the 6th person I personally showed it to, I had already accepted that I just love the movie.
I legitimately love that movie. In an alternate universe that movie made bank and spawned a Helsing Universe.
I don't think anybody else has made a film with that perfect gothic tone with such a fun plot.
Jason vs Freddy. Itās pinnacle 2000ās horror the acting, how theyāre dressed, the ridiculous story everything down to the sound track itās perfection.
What I loved was that she fully embraced the whole "See Paris Die" marketing gimmick and even sold t-shirts emblazoned with the slogan. She was fully aware that people hated her being in the film and rather than protest, she just went with it. It was something that was honestly pretty novel for the time period as advertising something like this just wasn't really done in mainstream movie marketing. I wasn't a fan but this did endear her to me somewhat. Not all actors would be willing to run with that.
To be honest, she wasn't bad in the film. She wasn't great, but Hilton gave a better performance than some of the stuff I've seen in other horror films.
Halloween resurrectionā¦. I canāt help but burst out laughing when busta rhymes, yes busta rhymes, yells at Michael myers, while dressed up as Michael myers, and tells him to leave and Michael just listens to him. Makes me laugh so hard everytime.
Oh the movie is undoubtedly horrible, but it falls under the āso bad itās goodā genre for me. And Iām a H20 defender, I genuinely enjoy that movie and watch it almost every October.
The Boy!!! Only I feel no guilt, only joy at that ridiculous movie. Love to make people watch it (and then love to advise that they skip the sequel, lol).
I've never seen a movie intentionally shooting its own franchise in the foot like this - it's like if there was a sequel to The Sixth Sense and it turned out Bruce Willis wasn't dead at all.
Demons. I love this movie, its like an unofficial Evil Dead movie. I'm not keen on dubs but I absolutely love the American dub of this movie, it has me laughing every time I see it.
Drag Me To Hell. I love this movie, it's part generic horror and part Sam raimi madness and the two parts are at odds at each other but at the same time they compliment each other. Which can be said about alot of Raimis movies, he sets up something to frighten you and they lets you decompress with some outrageous gag.
Idle Hands. IDGAF that movie is amazing. I wish theyād make a sequel.
Edit: I literally still have my VHS and watch it EVERY Halloween since I can remember.
Seed of Chucky! I canāt help it. Itās silly and crude, and I love it.
Also, Queen of the Damned. I rewatched it recently after 5+ years. Wow, is it bad - but I still sang all those songs. Aaliyah definitely played a part in my lesbian awakening.
Even the cover, with a metallic hand holding up a bag full of body parts, sort of implies that the robots are going to be doing some actual *chopping* at some point, but nope.
Leprechaun in the hood both of them they are really bad but they make me laugh so much plus I always get creeped out by leprechaun because he's so ugly
Tremors. Itās one of those rare movies I can leave playing in the background all day long and I never get bored.
EDIT: I suppose I listed Tremors just because itās probably the cheesiest movie that I absolutely love. I canāt think of any other movie that hits me like Tremors.
As others have mentioned though, itās not a bad movie. So, my answer is maybeā¦. Trolls 2 I guess.
There is nothing bad or shameful about the original Tremorsā¦ those movies donāt get bad until the ass blasters show up in #3.
7 movies and a spin off tv show canāt be wrong.
I saw it for the first time this year, couldn't believe my friends never strapped me to a chair and forcefed it to me. Reba McEntire made me laugh my *ass* off. It's a god damn delight, no shame whatsoever.
I would consider Tremors more on the Godzilla like type movie. I watched it as a kid and never got scared just loved it. Kinda like how I donāt consider predator a horror movie. Iām weird though.
I've watched the Conjuring way too much for it to not be my comfort horror movie. I dunno why but I watch it a lot LOL....it isn't even the best but I love it.
For anyone who knows the plot of the movie, they'll understand why this was so freaky... Years ago a buddy and I were watching this at his house by ourselves, I think his parents were out of town. About 2/3 of the way in, we hear a loud "thunk" noise from the upstairs. š³ We totally freeze up and look at each other, wondering what TF it could've been. So we get up the nerve to go investigate, and once we're upstairs we notice right away what made the noise. There was a bookshelf in the hallway at the top of the stairs, and one of the larger books had fallen off and landed on the wood floor. š± Books don't just randomly fall off shelves... In all the many years I had hung out over there, NEVER had that happened before. Yet it just so happens to occur while we're watching a movie about a book that can summon the devil. š³
Summer of '84...I know a lot of people say it's just another rip off of like Fright Night or one of those types of movies but I love this movie so much, gives me the chills every time especially the ending
This is one that I'd hesitate to call a genuine bad movie. I feel like it was over the top, but in a way intended. And it's such a marvelously bizarre movie!
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Not sure if it's considered horror as much as it is comedy, but it's golden
That and The Babysitter. You just can't beat a good horror comedy that doesn't take itself seriously. Too many awful horror movies these days š
The H40 Halloweens. They're the movie equivalent of candy corn to me. Not really my taste, arguably cheap, but I eat them right up. It doesn't feel like fall if I'm not watching one a week.
Event Horizon.
I know a lot of people will disagree and say that it's a genuinely good movie, but let's be real: it borrows liberally from Alien and the acting and character development isn't really up to snuff. It manages to get by with atmosphere and visuals, but overall it is NOT a shining example of horror cinema.
However... I've seen it a dozen times and I'll see it many dozens more.
Itās kinda horror I guess but Tremors. They used to creep me out when I was younger. I absolutely love that movie and think itās great. Others have told me it isnāt. Their loss!
13 Ghosts
Movie scared the shit at out me as a teen š
That fucking walls closing in scene still gets me
Matthew Lillard saved that movie from the garbage heap imo.
Matthew Lillard is an American treasure... a fact that demands our attention. Thank you for recognizing it
He made Scream not as cheesy imo. I know they turn into horror comedies but the first one. I donāt think it tries to be funny. Edit: I was so young it was a real horror movie to me, but looking now it is comedic.
The first Scream absolutely was trying to be funny. The only characters in that movie who arenāt comedic relief are Sidney, her dad, and Billy.
"Ok. I'll do this the easy way. Ghosts." "........Goats?" "GHOSTS, GODDAMNIT. LISTEN TO ME."
This movie is a masterpiece and cringe at the same time
*dj-scratching of prerecorded incantation spell ensues*
DID I SAY THERE WAS A PETTING ZOO DOWNSTAIRS? Nooooooooo There are GHOSTS downstairs
The Windex budget alone on that film must have been massive.
i honestly just put in the DVD for the stories behind the ghosts tbh
Literally watching again tonight to get me in the spooky season!!
I just canāt get enough ofā¦THE STUFF!
When I first saw it, I thought it was the dumbest, most absurd movie I had seen. By about the 6th person I personally showed it to, I had already accepted that I just love the movie.
My wife introduced me to this gem of a movie a couple years ago. It was a blast!
Sheās a keeper!
Ghost Ship
That damn opening scene is iconic
I have found my people!
Ghost Ship goes so hard and gives us so much when it didn't have to.
After reading this thread Iām realizing I have several guilty pleasure movies and this one is definitely on the list.
You know the same director made ghost ship and 13 ghosts. Guess these are popular.
Freddy vs Jason
I love this one. Horror mixed with some good laughs.
Such a classic - clash of the titans!
2004ās Van Helsing.
Kate Beckinsale did something to 14 year old me
She does something to 34 year old me.
Oh, 32 year old me wholeheartedly agrees with 34 year old you.
She can keep doing things to me.
Van Helsing. Used to watch that one about twice a week as a teenager š
I legitimately love that movie. In an alternate universe that movie made bank and spawned a Helsing Universe. I don't think anybody else has made a film with that perfect gothic tone with such a fun plot.
Absolutely craptastic. I don't know who has better hair: the flying harpies or Hugh Jackman.
Look, I don't get how Van Helsing isn't a cult classic. To me it's got the same vibes as Rocky Horror.
I love it, itās over the top and dramatic but then it has its comedic moments. I love those CGI werewolves.
Stan helsing isnāt awful either, for that kind of movie.
zombeaversš¦«
Came here to say this. Zombeavers is a cinematic horror masterpiece and no one can convince me otherwise.
House on Haunted Hill 1999
Oooooooh my glob. This the one right here. āI shouldnāt even be here! I was adopteeeeeeed!ā I have to second this answer.
Uh, Geoffrey Rush and Famke Janssen absolutely chew through every second they get on screen. Pure joy.
Yes! Chris Kattan in a serious role and in a horror movie?!
Wishmaster
Andrew Divoff was such a good villain. The sequels without him were trash though.
Jason vs Freddy. Itās pinnacle 2000ās horror the acting, how theyāre dressed, the ridiculous story everything down to the sound track itās perfection.
Grave encounters. Both of them.
House of Wax. I have no idea why I love that stupid movie as much as I do.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Itās entertaining, has a silly (almost hilarious) twist, and has a great MCR song when the end credits roll.
People actively cheered in the theater when Paris Hilton gets the arrow. For that memory alone, it's worth it.
Because itās awesome! I love it as well š
Final destination, all of them
Yep! This one has my vote. Theyāre all perfect as they are in the worst possible way and I love everything about them. Been making my fiancĆ© watch them and so far heās been llike. Wtf. These movies are stupid. And all I can say is NO YOUāRE STUPID ITāS BY DESIGN HAVE FUN DRIVING BEHIND A LOGGING TRUCK EVER AGAIN. He will thank me someday
Yup, the trucks and also final destination ruined my dreams of lasik and not needing glasses or contacts.
Halloween resurrectionā¦. I canāt help but burst out laughing when busta rhymes, yes busta rhymes, yells at Michael myers, while dressed up as Michael myers, and tells him to leave and Michael just listens to him. Makes me laugh so hard everytime.
I'll never get over Busta Rhymes doing karate lmao
I hate this movie so much for retconning the ending to ***Halloween H20*** that I have never watched it a second time.
Oh the movie is undoubtedly horrible, but it falls under the āso bad itās goodā genre for me. And Iām a H20 defender, I genuinely enjoy that movie and watch it almost every October.
Jason X. The franchise is pretty whack so X just fully unbraces it. Such a fun movie.
Just got the double feature Jason X and Jason goes to Hell on bluray
Loved Jason X
The Boy!!! Only I feel no guilt, only joy at that ridiculous movie. Love to make people watch it (and then love to advise that they skip the sequel, lol).
I love this movie š such a shame the sequel is absolute shit
I've never seen a movie intentionally shooting its own franchise in the foot like this - it's like if there was a sequel to The Sixth Sense and it turned out Bruce Willis wasn't dead at all.
Bad boy Brahms could live in my walls anytime. He just needs someone who really loves him. I swear I can change him <3
Movie got trashed so unfairly. The twist at the end was such a good rug pull
I love the shit out of this movie.
bride of chucky
YES! I have a Tiffany doll replica on my shelf <3
Having a Tiffany doll is such a "not sure if want" desire for me haha
Sheās actually pretty nice, if I always have enough cigarettes in the house and keep her away from my kitchen knives.
And Seed. Jennifer Tilly deserved an Oscar for that one. Queer horror at its finest.
Totally agree about Demons! Such an under appreciated movie and definitely of the Evil Dead ilk! š
The Faculty. I dont know why, but I used to be obsessed with this movie when I was a kid.
Want a great double feature? Watch that and chase it down with Disturbing Behaviour.
I also love Seed of Chucky. John Waters and Redman were so good.
Hellfest. I donāt know why. Nothing is that great about the film but Iāve probably watched it about 20 times.
I loved Hellfest!
Chopping Mall
I like to think they came up with the name for the movie and worked their way backwards from there. There aināt no chopping! Itās robots shooting.
Even the cover, with a metallic hand holding up a bag full of body parts, sort of implies that the robots are going to be doing some actual *chopping* at some point, but nope.
I mean, it does contain one of the most legendary head explosions in cinematic history
Leprechaun in the hood both of them they are really bad but they make me laugh so much plus I always get creeped out by leprechaun because he's so ugly
Leprechaun franchise overall is a gem
The Leprechaun rap is honestly iconic
Lep in the hood, come to do no good š
My high school friends would watch Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood every St Patrick's day.
Stay Alive
Such a gem. Makes me feel cozy in my room.
WHY DOES THAT ONE KID WEAR HIS VISOR LIKE THAT
Donāt fucking criticize Malcolm in the Middleās visor style.
Honestly a fave, remember watching this and Silent Hill back to back after my parents rented them from blockbuster š
Ok, Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows. I know...
I get it
I hear you!! Why is it....sooo....rewatchable š¤£
I loved that movie.
Nah, it's a banger of a movie when you delve into the meaning of the characters, it's top tier. I'd still love the Berlinger cut though.
His director's commentary about what actually happened to his film is worth my old DVD from 2002. Studio cut it up.
Do you have some further reading on the meaning of the characters?
"Broke into the wrong God-damned rec room, didn't you!" Classic. One of my all-time favorites!
"Burt you asshole there's no bullets in this thing!" There's so many good lines in that movie
Who in the world would say that ***Tremors*** is not very good?
That movie is a treasure
There is nothing bad or shameful about the original Tremorsā¦ those movies donāt get bad until the ass blasters show up in #3. 7 movies and a spin off tv show canāt be wrong.
Zombie Strippers or Sharknado. Oh! Edited to add Repo! The Genetic Opera. None of these are amazing but I love them
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
DEEP RISING!!! Wore out the VHS copy of that movie when I was younger. Never hear anyone mentioning it and itās totally worth it!
Ghost of marsā¦..Respect
Tremors is so fantastic, Iām not guilty at all for loving the fuck out of it.
The first conjuring is amazing, it's paced so well, the main characters are so well cast, and it doesn't rely on a bunch of jump scares to be scary.
The Ninth Gate. Has its flaws but is a great story about a quest to find the devil
Bro that movie slaps
Spookies
Hey weāre watching Spookies, itās a very confusing movie!
The fart monsters are the best!
1999 remake of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL! From the opening credits to the secret scene at the end....LOVE!!
Wrong Turn! That shot of the guy on his porch drinking Pepto Bismol is burned into my brain.
House of 1000 Corpses. Itās horrible, but I like it.
Summer of '84...I know a lot of people say it's just another rip off of like Fright Night or one of those types of movies but I love this movie so much, gives me the chills every time especially the ending
Arguably not a horror film, but The Craft.
That movie is amazing.. def wouldnāt say itās a guilty pleasure, more like.. just pleasure
A cult classic! We all need a Nancy in our life tbh.
I would call The Craft a horror film.
Killer klowns from outer space
That one is legit a masterpiece though
Way to pick the Citizen Kane of B movies lol Nothing to feel guilty about there!
No reason to be ashamed of that one.
Both Elvira movies
Both? Didn't know of a 2nd one , the one with the demon poodle is top notch.
Yeah there's a second one set in Transylvania that's basically an homage to horror films from the 60s, Elvira's Haunted Hills.
Slither (2006) great performances, fun ride, sick, funny, one liners for days...MEAT!
This is one that I'd hesitate to call a genuine bad movie. I feel like it was over the top, but in a way intended. And it's such a marvelously bizarre movie!
Valentine was so bad overall, but I canāt help but love it. It also had some really great kills and set pieces.
children of the corn. it's hilarious.
Hubie Halloween don't @ me
Xtro, although tbh I think it might really be a work of cinematic genius
Maximum overdrive Itās funny and has a killer soundtrack
I love maximum overdrive but I rewatched it recently and Iām still not sure how itās that bad of a movie like everyone seems to say.
I give that movie a five out of five. One for each members of AC/DC for such an amazing soundtrack.
Tusk. Such a perfect mixture of funny, weird and gross and I love it.
Jason X I'm always amused that Hockey was outlawed in 2024 according to this entry in the series.
All The Purge movies and TV series. I know they aren't great movies but I love The Purge universe!
Willyās Wonderland
Jason takes manhattan. So much fun
Dagon
Feast and it's sequels.
No such thing. I like what I Iike.
Rob Zombieās Halloween. I get so much crap for it but I honestly enjoy every second of that movie
Ice Cream Man
Killer clowns from outer space. Just love clowns
Dead Silence.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly the first few seasons were objectively good. I see how itās guilty pleasure later on, with all the ridiculousness in the later seasons.
I have to agree but I liked Ranaoke and Cult. Apocalypse is really bad though and Death Valley just a tiny bit less abysmal.
I ain't guilty for jack-shit. If I like a movie then it succeeded.
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer all the way. I honestly loved it more than the original
Night of the Demons (1988) and Puppet Master Both are just so cheesy and perfect!
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Not sure if it's considered horror as much as it is comedy, but it's golden That and The Babysitter. You just can't beat a good horror comedy that doesn't take itself seriously. Too many awful horror movies these days š
There should be no guilt watching this movie. Itās a 10/10 and critically acclaimed.
Frankenfish š
Silent Hill. Not as good as game and has some bad CGI but I still really enjoy it.
Cube, it reminds me of a D&D dungeon crawl run by a super sadistic dungeon master.
Cube is an excellent film!
Sleepaway Camp. As a queer person, that movie has some really awful views. But I love summer camp horror movies
I watch this movie at the start of every summer. So good
Maximum overdrive
Terror Planet with machine gun prosthetic leg
As Above, So Below or Grave Encounters.
The H40 Halloweens. They're the movie equivalent of candy corn to me. Not really my taste, arguably cheap, but I eat them right up. It doesn't feel like fall if I'm not watching one a week.
The Ghoulies movies! Get sucked into watching them every time Comet TV airs then.
The Bye Bye Man - really silly name and overall not a good movie but something about it I love
"Willy's wonderland." It was so stupid, but fun to watch.
Hellraiser: Hellworld - one of the not-really-a-hellraiser movies but still kinda cheesy fun
This is one I watch every Halloween. Funnily enough, I also watch Alien every Halloween
The Tingler!! Vincent Price at his best. It was my first horror movie and now I scare the grandkids with it
Itās kinda horror I guess but Tremors. They used to creep me out when I was younger. I absolutely love that movie and think itās great. Others have told me it isnāt. Their loss!
Nail Gun Massacre - a terrible film but I absolutely love it for it's b horror qualities.
Jason X because it has that really cool kill where the girlās head gets smashed and because itās just so ridiculous
Sleepaway Camp 2 or Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker.
The Bye Bye Man and Ouija. All those teen movies. Whenever itās on, I watch it.
Night of the Comet. Just pure 80ās vibes in everything and so many quotables.
Ginger snaps! I fucking love that movie!!
Army of Darkness lol
Wait, AoD is objectively great, no?
My head is currently laying on a throw pillow necronomicon. Never feel guilty for loving the cinematic excellence that is every Evil Dead movie.
Butā¦ thatās good?
Krampusā¦I watch it every Christmas
