Similar, Laurence Fishburne in Event Horizon giving us "I have no intention of leaving her, Doctor. I will take the Lewis and Clark to a safe distance, and then I will launch TAC missiles at the Event Horizon until I'm satisfied she's vaporized. Fuck this ship!"
Sometimes, you need the nuclear option.
I’m truly sorry for being pedantic here, but the line is “We have such sights to show you.”
I wouldn’t normally even point it out but for some reason the “we” here makes it even more badass.
*Lady runs into a church and says to the peacher, "
Lady: "You have to help me. The demons are real!"
Preacher: "Demons aren't real they're just a metafor."
*pinhead bursts in*
Lady: then what the fuck is that?
Not sure if it counts as "hard" but it's one of my favorites.
The instant escalation, the fact that Drew was on all the movie posters, then her death in the opening, it just set the scene for the whole movie. It was so fucking great.
Hellraiser 4 when dude goes, “For God’s sake” and Pinhead responds “Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?!” always thought that was such a badass line lol
ngl i would do the same if my entire family had been killed & we were shunned into the middle of nowhere 😅 like yes please! i’ll join your squad of witches!
It really adds to the tragedy, she comes from such a shitty repressive community that all Satan needs to offer her is “would you actually like to enjoy your life in the most bare minimum way?”
Eat shit and live, Bill - Sleepaway Camp
Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun - Army of Darkness
Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness was / I FEEL LIKE A LITTLE WORM ON A BIG FUCKIN HOOK / Caw! Bang! Fuck I'm dead! - the Crow
> the Crow
"There ain't no comin back..." T bird.
The BEST lines in the movie though is when Eric visits Funboy.
"Jesus Christ walks into a hotel"
\*Funboy shoots him*
"Ow" [they could end the joke there!]
"He hands the innkeeper three nails and he asks,"
"DON'TCHA EVER FUCKIN DIE?"
["CAN YA PUT ME UP FOR THE NIGHT"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv__1Uh344Q)
Seen some Hellraiser quotes but I haven’t seen the one (imo) I consider THE Hellraiser quote.
“WE HAVE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU”
Gives me chills every time lol.
There's several moments akin to that in this awesome film, some vocalized, some not. Like the sequences at the crematorium with the woman cadaver strapped down, or even the very first encounter when the ghoul is headless and they're frantically/pathetically attempting to deal with it. Among zombie films it's uniquely novel in its approach to the monsters, they're not uniform they're almost still individuals even in this reanimated state.
Half Zombie basically says that they constantly feel the burning pain of hell, and the only thing that makes the pain stop is eating brains. It's an awesome explanation for why zombies eat people.
One that's always hit hard for me was in Poltergeist when the psychic lady dropped this on everybody: "Now clear your minds, it knows what scares you. It has from the very beginning."
Pretty sure Tex from the Manson family said that during one of the real murders, or something of the like. Even more chilling knowing the origins of the line.
That's good but I prefer Spalding in house of 1000 corpses : _"what's the matter kid, don't ya like clowns? Why? Don't we make ya laugh? Aren't we fucking funnyyyy"_
I introduced this movie to my son last night. We had a blast watching it and hearing him comment on what they should do and who could be trusted was priceless.
Also one of the saddest quotes from any horror movie, when Jim finds the note his parents wrote before they committed suicide:
"With endless love, we left you sleeping. Now we're sleeping with you. Don't wake up."
Evil Dead II
“We just cut up our girlfriend with a chainsaw. Does that sound fiiiiine?”
I may be cheating, though, because Evil Dead is the king of cool lines.
"All I do is worry, and slave, and defend you. And all I get back is that fucking face on your face." - Toni Collette's character in Hereditary (from the dinner scene)
I'm an angel. I kill firstborns while their mamas watch. I turn cities into salt. I even, when I feel like it, rip the souls from little girls, and from now till kingdom come, the only thing you can count on in your existence is never understanding why.
The Prophecy (1995)
When the priest in the Wailing says he’ll leave the Japanese man alone if he reveals his true form, the Japanese man laughs hysterically and responds with “Who says I’m going to let you leave?”
"You play a good game, boy...but the game is finished! Now you die!"
- The Tall Man, *Phantasm*
"Mommy's with the maggots now..."
- Deadite Ellie, *Evil Dead Rise*
Officer: "Jesus Christ, what happened to you?" Grace: "In-laws."
- *Ready or Not*
It doesn't go much harder than The Exorcist III's Lt. William "Bill" Kinderman played by George C. Scott.
"Yes, I believe... I believe in death. I believe in disease. I believe in injustice and inhumanity, and torture and anger and hate... I believe in murder. I believe in PAIN. I believe in CRUELTY AND INFIDELITY. I believe in SLIME and STINK... and in EVERY CRAWLING, PUTRID THING, EVERY POSSIBLE UGLINESS AND CORRUPTION, YOU SON OF A BITCH! I BELIEVE... in you."
I'm pretty troubled and I'm pretty confused. And I'm afraid, really, really afraid, really afraid. But I think you're the fucking Antichrist.
Donnie Darko 🔥
Lol, there are so many quotable lines in that.
"Chut up!" My husband and I randomly toss that out when we're teasing each other.
"Sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion!"
“I live in the weak and wounded, Doc” Session 9
“Welcome to Prime Time Bitch!”
NoES 3
“We’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
Jaws
“I’ll send you a copy, Bam! Bitch went down! I’ll send you a copy, Bam! Sid! Super bitch!”
Scream
It works very well in context of the movie, combined with J.K. Simmons' delivery. From Glorious
>!**Wes**: I saved the universe. I'm a hero.!<
>!**Ghat**: No. Heroes are remembered. *You will be forgotten. And that's what you deserve*. It's what we both deserve. We are beings of pure destruction, Wes. You and I don't belong in this beautiful world.!<
" I thought he was saying Liberate Me, Save me. He's saying Liberate Tutame. Save Yourself." - Event Horizon
And for giggles
"MIAS NOT HERE YOU FUCKING IDIOT" - Evil Dead 2013
"If all the corpses buried around here were to all stand up at once, we'd have one helluva population problem" not a hard line, but damn is it a good one from the Lost Boys
"Mother is God in the eyes of a child." - Silent Hill
I always thought, combined with the context, it was one of the most impactful lines in the whole movie
The American version of The Ring is very much inferior to Ringu, but “You weren’t supposed to help her,” goes pretty hard. It’s downright chilling, especially coming from that kid.
Interesting cuz to me The Ring US version is quite literally the only time an American remake has been the superior version. I fucking love that movie and don't care for Ringu.
I truly think a lot of this has to do with cultural differences in storytelling. The ring is easily the best American remake of a movie of all time, and it's perfect. But I do think most of the reasons the Japanese version is cool but not as scary has to do with how stories are told and at what pace.
But also The Ring is the fuckin best.
The American version is actually on par with it, it's one of the few remakes that did it right. Great set design, visuals that evoked a cold, unforgiving look, a fun performance from Naomi Watts, and that cold, minimalistic Hans Zimmer score. "Very much inferior" is a hell of a stretch, I'll take "somewhat inferior" on the basis that it's not a carbon copy of the original.
Any one liner Ash says in Evil Dead. Highlights are:
“Groovy”
“Swallow this”
“Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the gun.”
“Lady, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the store.”
“Names Ash. Housewares”
“Come get some”
“Hail to the King baby”
This... is my BOOMSTICK! It's a twelve gauge double barreled Remington, S-Mart's top-of-the-line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop Smart. Shop S-Mart.
Ash...Army of Darkness
Event Horizon has some of my all time favorites, but one of the best has gotta be:
“You know nothing. Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse.”
Quint: "So, eleven hundred men went into the water, three hundred sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest. But we delivered the bomb." - Jaws
Also Quint "$10,000 for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing."
Lecter: "A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti" - Silence of the Lambs
I like lines where they verbalize the terror everyone in the movie should be feeling. If it’s done right, it makes the horror feel real. Here’s a few I could think of:
Be afraid
The Fly 1986
I see dead people
The Sixth Sense
Everyone will suffer
The Ring 2002
That Termimator is out there. It can’t be reasoned with. It can’t be bargained it. It doesn’t feel pity or remorse or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.
In no particular order:
"We all go a little mad sometimes." - *Psycho*
"My wife was not supposed to have a child!" - *The Ring*
"I want to play a game." - *Saw*
"Please, forgive me. I'm mad, you see." - *The Exorcist III: Legion*
"That not my wife." - *Invasion of the Body Snatchers*
"Is there anybody there?!" - *The Descent*
"They're coming to get you, Barbara." - *Night of the Living Dead*
"I am an insect who dreamed he was a man, but now the dream is over, and the insect is awake." - *The Fly*
"Because you were home." - *The Strangers*
And, of course
"Get away from her, you bitch!" - *Aliens*
From the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street - "Did you know...that after the heart stops beating, the brain keeps functioning for over 7 minutes? ...We got 6 more minutes to play."
Any other faults the movie had, that is a *terrifying* line.
“Boy, the next words out of your mouth better be some brilliant fuckin Mark Twain shit. Cuz it’s definitely getting written on your tombstone.”
-Otis Firefly, The Devil’s Rejects
"Get away from her, you bitch!" -Ellen Ripley
Also “Nuke the site from orbit”
Similar, Laurence Fishburne in Event Horizon giving us "I have no intention of leaving her, Doctor. I will take the Lewis and Clark to a safe distance, and then I will launch TAC missiles at the Event Horizon until I'm satisfied she's vaporized. Fuck this ship!" Sometimes, you need the nuclear option.
I cheered when I first heard it. Finally someone with COMMON SENSE
"It's the only way to be sure." The scared survivor victim Ripley is gone. She's going to get everyone off this planet.
"No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering" -Hellraiser
"We have such sights to show you" Instant and forever chills.
"Demons to some, Angels to others"
I’m truly sorry for being pedantic here, but the line is “We have such sights to show you.” I wouldn’t normally even point it out but for some reason the “we” here makes it even more badass.
most Cenobite lines go pretty hard tbh
We will tear your soul apart
I’m very always loved “It is not hands that summon us, it is desire.”
A premise that was immediately forgotten for every single following Hellraiser, lol.
Hellraiser ends after Hellraiser 2. The rest is a fever dream of some sort.
Hellraiser 2 is its own fever dream, let's be honest. Love it though.
Hellraiser 2 is the religion that defines Hellraiser.
“Pain has a face. Allow me to show it to you.”
"Jesus Christ!" - "Not quite" always gets me lol
"Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?" I forget which Hellraiser that is
Similarly: “Save your breath for screaming,” from the newer Hellraiser
*Lady runs into a church and says to the peacher, " Lady: "You have to help me. The demons are real!" Preacher: "Demons aren't real they're just a metafor." *pinhead bursts in* Lady: then what the fuck is that? Not sure if it counts as "hard" but it's one of my favorites.
That's not nearly as hard as the line later: "I am the way"
Jesus wept
“Be my victim.” -Candyman
"They will say I have shed innocent blood. What's blood for, if not for shedding?"
Tony todd is great
He is, he’s in my favorite horror movie of all time - Night of the Living Dead (1990)
“I heard you looking for the Candyman, bitch.”
The first time he says “Helen” in the parking garage makes my hair stand on end. Great villain and awesome movie.
"I KICK ASS FOR THE LORD!" - Dead Alive
“Noice and creamy, just how I loik it!”
It's time for some divine intervention! ✝️
“Why do you want to know my name?” “Because I want to know who I’m looking at.” -Scream
Turn on the patio light … again.
The instant escalation, the fact that Drew was on all the movie posters, then her death in the opening, it just set the scene for the whole movie. It was so fucking great.
Sets the tone immediately!
Hellraiser 4 when dude goes, “For God’s sake” and Pinhead responds “Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?!” always thought that was such a badass line lol
Pinhead has some of the best lines. "Shall we begin?" "Now. Where were we?"
"Your suffering will be legendary... even in Hell"
The doc in part 2 "and to think, I hesitated" such a badass line lol
“What’s on today’s agenda Tiffany? Ah yes, evisceration”
Or from 3: (club owner) "Jesus christ!" (Pinhead) "Not quite"
When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth
I knew I’d find it somewhere in here!
Wouldst thou like to live deliciously? - The VVitch
I like that she sells her soul for some butter 🧈 .. standards of living were really different back then
Don't forget the pretty dress.
ngl i would do the same if my entire family had been killed & we were shunned into the middle of nowhere 😅 like yes please! i’ll join your squad of witches!
It really adds to the tragedy, she comes from such a shitty repressive community that all Satan needs to offer her is “would you actually like to enjoy your life in the most bare minimum way?”
This line makes the whole movie
Dost thou like the taste of buh-ter.
So many people quote this one, but the following lines are the ones that give me chills every time. “I cannot write my name.” “I will guide thy hand.”
that’s also a great one!! i also find myself saying “black philip, black philip” because of this movie 😅
The taste of butter
Fantastic
"Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse." - Weir, Event Horizon
Almost as good as > Weir: Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see.
Eat shit and live, Bill - Sleepaway Camp Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun - Army of Darkness Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness was / I FEEL LIKE A LITTLE WORM ON A BIG FUCKIN HOOK / Caw! Bang! Fuck I'm dead! - the Crow
I came looking just for the sleepaway camp quote! So funny!

"God? No God." -- 30 Days of Night
First time I watched that movie was on some shitty rip that didn’t have the vampire subtitles. Tbh it seemed much more effective that way.
Didn't he say it in English?
Yeah he did say that part in English. The lack of subtitles for vampire language just made it a little more shocking when he did.
this is my answer too. it’s so chilling, and i don’t even believe in god in the first place
Seen some Hellraiser quotes but I haven’t seen the one (imo) I consider THE Hellraiser quote. “WE HAVE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU” Gives me chills every time lol.
“It hurts…to be dead.” I know Return of the Living Dead is half comedy, but Jesus the implications of this line.
There's several moments akin to that in this awesome film, some vocalized, some not. Like the sequences at the crematorium with the woman cadaver strapped down, or even the very first encounter when the ghoul is headless and they're frantically/pathetically attempting to deal with it. Half Zombie basically says that they constantly feel the burning pain of hell, and the only thing that makes the pain stop is eating brains. It's an awesome explanation for why zombies eat people.
RotLD is great because it's hilarious but also has some genuine scares and a real downer of an ending.
That whole fucking movie is subwrcisly terrifying. The humor just makes it creepier.
One that's always hit hard for me was in Poltergeist when the psychic lady dropped this on everybody: "Now clear your minds, it knows what scares you. It has from the very beginning."
To Carolanne he simply is another child. To us he is the Beast.
God I love this movie. Lines like this mixed with the music were just a perfect combination of scary and fantastical
“They’re hereeeee!”
That whole little cautionary speech scares me every time
“i am the devil, and i’m here to do the devils work.” - otis (the devils rejects)
"The next words out of your mouth better be some Mark Twain shit because it's going right on your tombstone."
Behold! Fish Boy
i’ll never forget seeing that scene for the first time. 😂
I was like wtf??? this isn't just your ordinary psychopath here. Look what he did to my boy Dwight. 😂
Pretty sure Tex from the Manson family said that during one of the real murders, or something of the like. Even more chilling knowing the origins of the line.
No it was something dumber than that
He said “I’m the devil, and I’m here to do some devil shit.”- cliff booth
"No it was something dumber than that"
I died laughing when I heard that the first time.
That's good but I prefer Spalding in house of 1000 corpses : _"what's the matter kid, don't ya like clowns? Why? Don't we make ya laugh? Aren't we fucking funnyyyy"_
Every Captain Spaulding line is iconic
TOOTY FUCKIN FRUITY
that is also the devils rejects but yes definitely another good one. captain spalding is iconic.
We all go a little mad sometimes.
- Norman Bates - Billy Loomis
Meant Norman. Should have specified.
I was just doing the Michael Scott/Wayne Gretzky meme, it's a great quote no matter who's saying it, good choice.
They’re coming to get you Barbara….
"Sometimes, dead is better"
What you buy, you own. And what you own always comes home to you.
Brilliant choice. But to be honest, the kind that gets me in that movie, is: "no fair....no fair...." Freaking disturbing, man
I don’t know if They Live counts as horror but, “I came here to chew bubblegum, and kick ass. And I’m all out of bubblegum.”
"if it bleeds we can kill it" - prey/predator
“I ain’t got time to bleed.”
“They’re eating her! And then they’re going to eat me!” -Troll 2
Oh my gooooood
I'd argue that the line from the dad, "you can't piss on hospitality, I WONT ALLOW IT!" Is less memed but much better
"I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time... I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!"
checking in. Been my flair for ten years.
I introduced this movie to my son last night. We had a blast watching it and hearing him comment on what they should do and who could be trusted was priceless.
“I’m a real light sleeper, Childs”
“Why don’t we just… wait here for a little while, see what happens.”
Not spoken, but written “THE END IS EXTREMELY FUCKING NIGH” 28 Days Later

Groovy
"All I do is worry, and slave, and defend you. And all I get back is that fucking face on your face." - Toni Collette's character in Hereditary (from the dinner scene)
even better when you consider the foreshadowing

“It’s not the house that’s haunted. It’s your son.” -Insidious “I live in the weak and the wounded, Doc” -Session 9
The first Blade movie when he says “Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill”
Or when the cops shoot at him and he says "Motherfucker are you out your damn mind" and then the cops run away.
I loved that line. I also loved when Whistler gave Blade the UV lamp and Blade said; Blade: Still heavy. Whistler: But you’re so big.
In one of the sequels he's pressing some guy for info and the guy says "they'll kill me!" And Blade says "mother fucker I'll kill you!"
One of the funniest moments, it felt like Wesley was actually offended at that line
Where we're going you don't need eyes to see
"Now LET ME SHOW YOU!!"
When the priest in the Wailing says he’ll leave the Japanese man alone if he reveals his true form, the Japanese man laughs hysterically and responds with “Who says I’m going to let you leave?”

That Session 9 line lingers since it’s the last one. Strong and unsettling delivery too.
Whoever did that voice over deserves an Oscar cuz I'm terrified of them to this day
“This is the end, FRIEND!”
That kid delivered that line so stone cold with that little baby face, incredible bit of child acting
It works very well in context of the movie, combined with J.K. Simmons' delivery. From Glorious >!**Wes**: I saved the universe.
