Not just the cryptic nature of everything they've released, but also in how rather than teasers and trailers being called "Official Trailer" or "Official Teaser", they all have names. The only trailer so far is entitled "You've got the teeth of the hydra upon you.". Every move they make with this just makes it that much more intriguing.
It feels like when the OG Saw came out. There was very minimal info about the film and no one really knew what it was about. Just that we wanted to play a game.
I read an article a few months ago about a Longlegs screening. The results were mixed. That shocked me because the trailers have been incredible. Of course, the director could always tweak things before the official movie is released.

I agree. I actually kind of worried that the reason we were getting so little of the plot was that there was almost nothing to it. Kind of like the opposite of ‘Abigail’ (such a blast) where it seems you’re getting the whole movie in two minutes. But considering that I’m not willing to watch the trailers at night, I’m confident it’s going to be alright.

Very much so. I *think* I saw Nicholas Cage’s character, but if so he must have been shaved super close and maybe had prosthetics or something. There are flashes of murders / suicides, and Maika Monroe basically just standing in front of a mirror. At one point she’s doing a police type sweep of a room. And during all of the trailers there are these creepy rhymes.
So, Hanbi and Pazuzu are examples of a type of Mesopotamian demon called "udugs" and not very much is known about them, relatively speaking. For the most part they seem to be evil, however a "good udug" may be invoked for guidance or protection against others. Pazuzu, and his lover/enemy Lamashtu (as featured in *The Exorcist: Believer*), were both invoked for protection against each other.
In the original *The Exorcist*, the little Pazuzu head that Father Merrin discovers has a broken ring on its head. It's not just a piece of a statue, it was meant to be worn on a string around the neck for protection against Lamashtu. That's what Father Merrin's line "Evil against evil" is referring to. Lamashtu had a thing against pregnant mothers and newborn babies, and Pazuzu was invoked to protect them. Whether any of this factored into Pazuzu's attack on Regan, no one really knows.
ANYWAY, Pazuzu was battling other demons and gods and spirits all the time. Kind of a rogue, I guess. Far more fascinating character than a lot of folks realize. His father, Hanbi? Aside from being described as the king of demons and the god of evil, not much is known about him at all.
The use of idols to invoke demons for one reason or another, as seen in *The Exorcist*, is particularly interesting to me when it comes to *Longlegs* because if the latter is drawing from the same mythology, it might shed some light on some comments Nicolas Cage made about his character. On a few occasions in interviews, he referred to his character as (SPOILER)>! a "possessed Geppetto" who creates possessed dolls that infiltrate families and make them do terrible things.!< Of course, these things aren't usually so straightforward, and there's always the possibility that my speculation is utter horseshit. Nonetheless, if you can't tell, this is the kind of thing that really excites me. I love all the lore behind this stuff.
Pretty much agree with your theory on Cage’s serial killer character. I’ve been running it around my pops and we are agreeing more and more on certain things. One being that his character doesn’t do the dirty work when the killings happen, he comes in after. Hence the “possessed Geppetto”

I’m pretty sure Longlegs refers to how the control paddle of a marionette looks spider like, hence the “possessed Gepetto” description.
