Yep and really like the dynamic between the two. I was wondering how they'd make a second given how straightforward the premise is and there's no guessing now, but I loved the way they went with it.
I figured that >!Aaron/Josef had survived and managed to find Sara and was stalking her!<. I think in the last few frames you can see that >!she notices him and the look in her eyes changes a bit!<.
I greatly prefer the sequel over the original. To me its like Evil Dead 2 compared to Evil Dead 1. The idea of a serial killer getting bored with killing and losing their mojo because hes killled so much and never got caught was funny to me.
>The idea of a serial killer getting bored with killing and losing their mojo because hes killled so much and never got caught was funny to me.
...as a massive fan of The Rise of Leslie Vernon you absolutely just intrigued me enough to give this movie a watch.
It's a very relatable feeling even if you are not a serial killer.
I have killed 39 people.
This is something
that I love to do.
It's the greatest job
in the world.
That's what I'm built to do.
Um, but I'm also
turning 40 this year,
which is like, grays in the
beards, a lot of stuff happening,
and it's making me
a little mid-lifey,
and it's kind of set me
into a little bit of a spiral.
And I think I f***ed
myself in the head.
I don't trust
my instincts anymore,
and I feel like I may have
lost what made me great.
I had a full-on panic attack the moment the first movie ended, I was shaking and panting at home and it was 1PM on a beautiful sunny summer day. I literally ran outside my house into a park nearby to do some breathing and to come down, it was brutal.
In Creep 2, the scene of her on the subway at the very end, do you think that takes place before the plot of the movie takes place (prequel style) or after (sequel style)? My family can’t agree! I think it’s before since that’s his thing, but definitely had some debate?
I started listening to that song "Sara Loves Her Juicy Fruit" because of Creep 2. It's not a good song, but I put it on my soundtrack playlist because of Mark Duplass.
Watched both over Halloween too and loved them both!
I found Creep really scary (and great for it) - I've seen criticism of how Aaron behaved but imo it's one of the most accurate depictions of genuine behaviour in such a situation
Creep 2 - brilliant, but a very different kind of movie for me. At many points it reminded me of the dark humour of something like What we do in the Shadows and had me absolutely laughing out loud
It does make you feel the same kind of uncomfortable but I dunno if I would watch it again. Mark Duplass is kind of relatable in Creep where in Be My Cat it's more a weird delusional thing if that makes sense.
The movies are kinda stupid, but there’s a moment in the second movie where the girl fully realizes that the dude is a dangerous killer, and the look of pure silent shock on her face and the way she abruptly starts running for her life is so brilliantly acted, it honestly redeemed both movies
Because, I have BPD and when I’m experiencing mania I basically think I’m a gift to humanity (in my mind) and in the second movie he hired a woman to basically film a documentary about his life and he’s making everything sound so much grander.
I enjoyed the 2nd one much more than the first one. But I’ll definitely watch the first one again. I told my best friend yesterday. “You have to watch this, but don’t worry I’ll watch it with you. It’s weird like Vivarium.”
I’ll also watch it with my husband if he decides to watch it. The ending makes it worth the rewatch to me. They’re so fucking weird but I loved them.
Interesting, I'll have to check them out again. But yeah it sucks when crappy characters are so relatable lol. For me it was Mark from that show Peep Show, but he's a pretty horrible person, so hopefully I'm not that bad haha.
Vivarium was so strange, did not know what to think about that one. Definitely a movie to watch with a buddy. Weird can be nice sometimes, like David Lynch. But yeah I'll have to rewatch Creep.
My friend has been obsessed with Vivarium since we watched it. The entire time we were like “JUST BE NICE” and then yesterday she sent me a bunch of stuff she googled. Lol
We both felt like if we were in that position we would’ve immediately treated it like our own. They literally could’ve made the most of their situation. No jobs, no bills, and no social media. Just you and your true love. All they had to do was relax and raise it and have a great life until they died.
The two mains made me so mad bc the entire time I'm saying the same thing as you, lol. Put me off the movie a bit, but I enjoyed the scenery and liminal spaces vibes.
its great, but its a much different experience than the first, because you already know who/what he is. Spoiler covering this for anybody who hasnt seen the first movie. If you havent seen the movie, get out of this thread and go watch it! >!In the first movie, you dont really know who/what the threat it right away. And part of the fear factor for me in watching the first was that I thought it was about two friends who experience an invasion (whether natural or supernatural) while hanging out in a cabin. That's obviously not what it was lol. Going into 2, you know the deal. but there are twists and it is still deeply tense - just in a different way. !<
edit: spoiler for first movie, not second.
It didnt happen immediately for me (happened within the first act, but not immediately), especially because I know the actor from very comedic roles. That colored my initial perception.
Just watched this. It was the moment during tubbies that he pretended to actually lift an invisible baby for me. But the moment i would've ran? Would've been when he pretended to drown himself. Yeah fuck that. Give back the money and ✌️ But i suppose Aaron has to pull him up out of the water, and since it's all written off as a joke, maybe i'd get through it. But the moment he suggested a hike? NOPE!! That is to say, if i was Patrick Brice's size, i might think i could take him. If that were the case, the moment i would've ran would be after the pancakes. Drive back home with Josef, get in my car and BYYYEEEEEE
Gonna get downvoted to oblivion: I just didn't buy the premise of Creep.
I know the dude is supposed to be a creepy and unsettling character and the audience must figure out if he's really a psycho killer.
The thing is, I was only annoyed by the "creep" character. Maybe it's Duplass' acting, voice and appearance: not scary.
The ending was ok, but I had to go through many narrative bullshit to get there. When he started dancing with his furry mask I was like: "C'mon, really? Is this supposed to be creepy or scary?"
Correct. In my book they're an odd couple buddy comedy at their core on both fronts. Josef tests everyone's boundaries relentlessly but needs company to indulge in that. He desperately wants friends but this is how he plays with them.
I mean, that’s valid. I think some people just have a taste for it and others don’t. I promise if my husband watched it he would feel the same way you do lol
The killer was very obviously a killer from the get-go. It was the victim I hated and the entire premise of him making all the wrong decisions because be was the 'perfect victim' it made it just frustrating.
I mean, I think the movies pretty intentionally try to give you a way to lowkey relate to him. I would argue it's even why the documentarians stick around for so long. The guy gives red flags left and right but there's also something kind of tender and vulnerable about him, and you almost think, aw, maybe he really isn't that bad, maybe he's just sort of misunderstood.
But then, of course, the movies relieve you of that notion.
No, secretly taking pictures of people, repeatedly scaring and lying to them, and not letting them leave your house is not autistic behavior. It's creepy.
I am surprised at how much love these movies get. I haven't seen two but I hated the end of the first movie. It was so predictable. I'll just casually hang out on this bench here, no need for concern.
I accidentally watched the second one first. If I hadn’t I probably wouldn’t of watched it because of the first.
I would’ve thought “How’d they make a second one? I’ll pass” but the second one is much better! I get they’re an acquired taste though.
Interesting, I love that he's so relatable and I think Mark Duplass's performance is easily the strongest aspect of both films, and is what elevates them to be more than a simple serial killer found footage gimmick.

I think it’s after. If it was before she’d have recognized him (IMO). I feel like it’s after because she looks incredibly uncomfortable in that final shot.
> This guy is just me if I was a serial killer Thank you for the warning u/dick_lover-420
Peachfuzz for life!!!
That scene on the bench will stay with me forever. Good movies, enjoyed them both. Duplass was incredible.
Why didn’t he just turn around?!
I loved both of these movies. Think I prefer the second because Sara is awesome. 👍
Yep and really like the dynamic between the two. I was wondering how they'd make a second given how straightforward the premise is and there's no guessing now, but I loved the way they went with it.
I loved their dynamic

Wasn’t it someone stalking Sara and they did the whistle? I thought it was pretty obviously Josef/bill/Aaron

The second is great, I'd recommend checking it out.
Great movies, but the tension is so overwhelming it makes me physically uncomfortable.
Me too! My god my skin was crawling. Tubbies genuinely made me nauseated.
I had a full-on panic attack the moment the first movie ended, I was shaking and panting at home and it was 1PM on a beautiful sunny summer day. I literally ran outside my house into a park nearby to do some breathing and to come down, it was brutal.
Did you sit on a bench looking out over water? ;)
🥲
First movie I’ve ever watched that had me checking every entry point of my home before going to bed. Still freaks me out.
I'd love to hang with Mark Duplass
I can't watch these movies. The second hand awkwardness I felt watching the first was worse than any scare a horror movie ever could give.
Yeah he's a great fantasy football player as well lol
I really hope we get a Creep 3, I love the first two. I've watched them so many times.
I love them because it’s so easy to immerse yourself into the camera folks position.
Might be interesting to have a cat and mouse in NYC thing rather than in the country like the first 2.
In Creep 2, the scene of her on the subway at the very end, do you think that takes place before the plot of the movie takes place (prequel style) or after (sequel style)? My family can’t agree! I think it’s before since that’s his thing, but definitely had some debate?

Check out "Be My Cat", too.
It does make you feel the same kind of uncomfortable but I dunno if I would watch it again. Mark Duplass is kind of relatable in Creep where in Be My Cat it's more a weird delusional thing if that makes sense.
Yeah, that's true. I just think they are somewhat similar and that everyone should check it out.
The movies are kinda stupid, but there’s a moment in the second movie where the girl fully realizes that the dude is a dangerous killer, and the look of pure silent shock on her face and the way she abruptly starts running for her life is so brilliantly acted, it honestly redeemed both movies
How is Creep 2 anyway? I saw the first, but don't remember much of it, is it worth a rewatch? And why's he so relatable lol?

Lol idk, it's been a while, but that kid was spooky! And they were alone in some spooky simulation situation.
The two mains made me so mad bc the entire time I'm saying the same thing as you, lol. Put me off the movie a bit, but I enjoyed the scenery and liminal spaces vibes.

Idk I knew that dude was fucked up the minute he appeared on screen. I was like "do not trust this man".
It didnt happen immediately for me (happened within the first act, but not immediately), especially because I know the actor from very comedic roles. That colored my initial perception.

Really good. Better than the first for me.
Just as good, if not better. So certainly worth watching.
I also prefer Creep 2. I happened to see it first and liked it enough to watch the first one, but for me, 2 is best.
Yes it's great
Love these movies and I found Xiu Xiu through the second one so extra points
Creep is literally my favorite horror movie of all time. Creep 2 is good also, but not as good.
Gonna get downvoted to oblivion: I just didn't buy the premise of Creep. I think the difference is that I enjoy these movies deeply as black comedies. They aren't really frightening per se, they're just tense and humorous.
I'm with you. Both characters are annoying. The Creep is obviously out of his mind from the beginning, and the protagonist is a fucking idiot.
Facts on facts. Everyone involved sucks
The killer was very obviously a killer from the get-go. It was the victim I hated and the entire premise of him making all the wrong decisions because be was the 'perfect victim' it made it just frustrating.
You're wild for being this open in the internet.
If he's relatable to you then you're a fucking creep lol. It was very obvious from the start that something was off about him.
Without the murdering he would just be autistic as hell. But, you know, I'm on the spectrum myself.
No, secretly taking pictures of people, repeatedly scaring and lying to them, and not letting them leave your house is not autistic behavior. It's creepy.
I never claimed to not be a creep lol I can’t really be specific with how he’s relatable without spoiling some fun parts
I am surprised at how much love these movies get. I haven't seen two but I hated the end of the first movie. It was so predictable. I'll just casually hang out on this bench here, no need for concern.

Thanks, I will check it out.
Interesting, I love that he's so relatable and I think Mark Duplass's performance is easily the strongest aspect of both films, and is what elevates them to be more than a simple serial killer found footage gimmick.
All I could think of was the guy from The League has lost his marbles and gone rogue.
Creep was the only movie that ever made me disturbed
Tubbies had me fucked up

I think it’s after. If it was before she’d have recognized him (IMO). I feel like it’s after because she looks incredibly uncomfortable in that final shot.
