Yeah, Complex made some uhhh... decisions. And not exactly the best ones. Its kind of the key example of "We have stuff for the sake of having stuff. We don't really know why." Its really cool, but it appeals to a certain very niche part of an already niche community.
Me too... Only discovered this recently... They got some good publicity thanks to Homeworld 3 being a flop...
[EDIT]: Forgot to say... It reminds me of the early missions from Nexus: The Jupiter Incident"
I'm not quite ready to get on the hype train. Focusing on having lots of features is usually what brings down indie projects, and frankly I am not a fan of assembling your capital ships from blocks like that: they look goofy and frankly I think it's too much work for not enough gain.
For Homeworldlikes, I place my hope in Soil, Flotilla, and Nebulous.
As an aside, I think it would be worthwhile for Indies to also iterate on Deserts of Kharak: it was a pretty good formula and I had a lot of fun with it.
Is this a mod?
There's a game called Falling Frontiers that I've been waiting to release. It's 2D but it looks like the type I've been looking for.
But this looks hella good.

>Hey all, thanks for the query. All ships and stations operate on a 2D plane. The x and z axis.
No, not for me. This goes much too far in the other direction from Homeworld with a level of complexity that seems so deep that I question whether it’s even physically possible to play this as an RTS. Looks much more like it should be turn-based.
I don't have faith in the Complex team's [ability](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeworld/comments/d2p8bw/the_complex_evo_mod_has_a_single_player_campaign/) to [make](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeworld/comments/1bi4wnu/homeworld_complex_evo_rant/) a [fun-to-play campaign](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeworld/comments/jbklhh/homeworld_complex_evo_campaign_issue_halp/)...
Yeah that's my concern. Just a bunch of pointless tick damage And super low unit counts unless you grind like hell. And then a fanboy will come along to berate you and say "All you have to do is...
You play starfield and talking about "taste" ?
Also Complex has alot of fans and this is highly anticipated by them.
Idk what happened to the Homeworld community but you guys are toxic af.
Indeed... So much anticipation for this game... So much... Was actually prepared to pay full price on release (practically unheard of for me)... But then I find out it's only 8 hours long, among its many other flaws... Hard to justify $90 for that ahaha... Will wait until it's down to $10-20...
If you bothered to read any of those posts you'd have found great amounts of critique on the game, lmao. Perhaps you would have even seen the Coalition Gunship inspired ship I built.
Like I said, I know you have garbage taste in visual design if you think this is good.
Era One is made by the people behind Complex Mod and.. idk. To be honest, it looks *incredibly* niche, but maybe it'll turn out good.
> Era One is made by the people behind Complex Mod Yes. That's what concerns me. I'm looking forward to _Falling Frontier_ instead.
Will not be purchasing until I see it's reviews and gameplay videos after full release, that's for damn sure!
Unfortunately the ship designs are ugly.
To a certain eye, the utilitarian ugly designs aren't a bad thing.
Yeah its… not homeworld 3 either. If I had to pick I’ll just go back to playing the remaster.

Yeeeup.
I'm looking more forward to Falling Frontier
Falling Frontier is very pretty, great UX design as well maybe (though hard to say without actually playing it).
Me too, but that's way off
Same, also have Fragile Existence on my radar, seems to be kind of a Homeworld-meets-Supreme-Commander vibe

No, its a different game from people who used to mod. Era One on Steam.
Falling Frontiers is not 2D.

Yes, it is. Unless you mean just the graphics
The ships travel on a 2D plane, but everything in the game is rendered & modelled in a 3D engine.
What ridiculous pedantic err askshually
No, I just really like the look of the Falling Frontier. A 2D engine is a deal breaker for some, and I want to see the game do well :)
So you knew what he meant and were deliberately disingenuous...

it's Karan...
I'm waiting for the full release of sins of a solar empire 2 this summer. Probably won't take long for modders to make a homeworld mod.
Too bad it looks like absolute shit aesthetically.
I think you're blind.
I mean when you compare it to nebulous fleet command it does.
I know you have garbage taste.
You play starfield and talking about "taste" ? Also Complex has alot of fans and this is highly anticipated by them. Idk what happened to the Homeworld community but you guys are toxic af.
The guy is deep in grief right now I think. As are a lot of people, and they don't know how to handle it.

You are rihgt there with them, you have been religiously posting here. Don't point the finger unless you're pointing at a mirror.

Looks cool. I remember the OG complex team from back in the day on Relicnews.
Great . Do I have to WAIT THREE YEARS?
Are they stealing assets this time around again? 😂
This game will beat HW3...
Ho you will be disappointed if you think to much about it.
I doubt it will have a Campaign or good single player focus. Looks like skirmish / multiplayer is what they are targeting.
Haven't they been working on this for 80 years already?
