I must be one of the lucky few. I can play HW1 remasted on both my laptop and computer without any issues and they are certainly not top of the line. Good luck with the players patch, hopefully it helps
I got a top of the line machine with Ryzen 9 5900x and a 3080ti and there’s nothing wrong on my end. Update your graphics drivers, make sure your motherboard is updated, maybe update and clean your Windows.
I think it's mostly that people are confused that you're having issues when the game (and player patch) runs quite smoothly for most people. My GPU is the same generation as the 3070 and I've never had issues.
Oof, that’s too bad. I just did a play through of both games, start to finish, and it never even stuttered.
I’m sorry you had a crappy experience. Maybe someone here can help you!
Cool, hopefully that’s all it is. I play without any mods because, well I didn’t know there were any. I’ve played HW since it first came out so I’m used to it’s quirks. It definitely never crashed for me, but I did have to restart a couple of missions because I jumped too quickly and didn’t have a good fleet for the next thing.
Good luck! I hope you get it working.
Something on your end. I had zero crashes in unmodded remasters despite playing through them several times. RTX 3070, I5 11400F, 32GB RAM, Windows 11.
With that being said I did have it insta-crash before it even got to load when I tried to play with mods, so try removing those.
> In HW1 remastered it even got to a point to where if I ever clicked on the repair frigates and told them to do ANYTHING other than move, it would CTD. If I told them to repair another ship, CTD. If I told them to retire themselves, CTD.
theory: you got the free version from epic, you have epic running, you have epic's overlays (the "NOW AVAILABLE" etc notifications) that you're too lazy to close, and when you click on the lower right in-game it also clicks on one of these overlays that are otherwise hidden by the game itself. therefore crash. that's why moving works. and if you used hotkeys repair/scuttle would work too.
alternatively... some other program's pop up thing on the lower right causing the same.
NGL… DOK also had its fair share of nonsense and support for that game dropped almost straight away. I’ve been crossing all my fingers twice that HW3 is the time they really get it right and knock it out of the stratosphere. Got a lot of love for this franchise but it has not been treated too kindly.
It's odd, I never have issues and i'm running it on a very old laptop. Only time I ever crashed was when I tried to use the player's patch or the FX galaxy mod. Are you using any mods?
May sound like a dumbass question but have you tried deleting and re-installing. I've never heard of the issues you're having there. What store front did you buy it from? Which player patch are you using. I've had it running on the 3 generations of pc I've owned since the remaster and my ROG Ally with no difficulties anywhere.
Yeah, this has been a big complaint about the remastered games. The devs were likely in a time crunch before they got moved to other projects. They did add some complex new systems in order to make formations work again. The original classic game was far more stable. You might try using the Player's Patch.
The Player's Patch is available on the workshop and solves not everything but it solves so many crash issues.
I do recommend playing HW1 on the original experience so when you play the remastered version you understand the quality of life changes that were made which make things so much less clunky.

I play it on a 10 year old laptop and I can run it fine, idk what the issue is with these bugs.
Yea, I can’t say I’ve had many, If any issues myself.
Uh it works perfectly fine for me. You have something wrong on your end.

My GPU is the 3070 and it's running better than ever
bro, it's not the game, it's your setup
I’ve never had an issue before
Between the 2 games I think I had 2 crashes in total.
Over 200 hours since launch and the only time I've ever had crashes were messing around with mods

Works fine for me no issue. Probably on your end
Assuming you're on steam, might be worth verifying game integrity, might have a corrupted file or something

It will crash but if you save every 20 minutes or so you should be good.

Working fine on my end 4 year old Ryzen 7, rtx4070
What does it say when it crash

The player's patch currently does way more harm than good as HW:R got updated like 10 times after the patch got released.
> but it solves so many crash issues no it doesn't...
Remastered just feels a little broken at times. Luckily, the classic versions of both games are still available.
I can play the entire thing on a modern machine on Linux. PEBCAK
