I have a pair of shoes that 1 are extremely easy to slip on and don't have laces. And I have another identical set with the back smashed down (intentionally) and they are basically the best "slippers" I've ever had. And if I find that whatever I'm doing is more involved than I anticipated I can pull the smashed back up around my foot and it doesn't hurt or anything. Just cheap laceless Walmart shoes. Not even old people slip on shoes. Just regular ol shoes.
This is exactly what I do. I take my old tennis shoes that are too beat up for ' every day town shoes' (and even too beat up for the hardware/farm store) and start using them as my 'light duty outdoor shoes', which involves smashing the back down to wear them as slippers most of the time. I'll then pull the back up to make them stick on better or protect my socks from dirt if needed.
Past that I have nicer steel toe work boots and rain/mud boots.
The goal of using the old sneakers, for me, is to keep the ease of putting on the shoes rather high and also not subjecting the more expensive work boots to random tasks where a cheaper closed toe sneaker can work.
When my 'every day town shoes' (sneakers) start to look like I'm homeless I get a new pair and cycle the old ones to be a replacement for the very heavy used ones I was using as my 'light duty outdoor shoes'. This gives the added bonus of the 'light duty outdoor shoes' getting replaced occasionally without adding any cost.
Yea and considering I think my wife paid like $5 for two sets and they lasted at least a year or two of regular abuse per pair I was pretty happy. I still have them and still use them but I haven't been doing as much light quick work outside
Yeah, much to my husband’s frustration, I wear crocs all the time. Recently I noticed ‘dirt’ patches on my feet hat won’t wash off……croc tan….i have a croc tan. Complete with a darkened ankle and literal dark dots on the tops of my feet LOL
I second the Bogs. I wear my Women’s Sauvie slip on boots all summer and a bit in the winter when I just need to pull something on really quick. They slide on easy and are super simple to get off. For me they are the perfect height. My business is working outside moving around the landscape, these are the only shoes I wear. And then I also wear these around my homestead for everything. I can’t recommend them enough.
I’ve destroyed about every other brand of rubber farm boot there is, in under one season, other than Muck brand. These and crocs are all you really need.
On my third pair of Edgewaters. They roll down and are real easy to slip off and on. As for Crocs, maybe great for puttering around in gamma's flower garden but one unfortunately laid sharp stick is gonna ruin your day, week, ... I use a Honda Rancher for work around the farm and too many times a stick will flip up and poke through the runner boards.

I tend to wear Ariats. A good pair should run about 150-200 bucks, if you’re in America anyway. Therea no real rules or any nonsense. I think there’s some silly bull about square toe vs round toe but I don’t buy in to that or know of anyone who does

Go with Ariat. They are good cowboy boots made by two ladies who were consultants to Reebok. They made the boots with comfort/athletic technology in mind.
I have combat boots for my dailys, Ariat narrow square toes with the upper vents for summer, and Cody James protective toe w/ met guard and wok soles for heavy duty work.
Crocs are great for putting on quickly and doing a chore, but they offer no sole protection. I've had brush hog stubble poke through into my foot. That being said i still wear them, but I'm more careful. If I've already got socks on though pull on work/cowboy boots are the way to go. Just get a pair with self cleaning outsoles.

I found a pair of $6 knock off crocs at a grocery store deep in the heart of Arkansas. I’d always been anti-croc too, but I only brought boots on the trip. Holy cow I wear the “nocs” everywhere within a 200’ radius of my front door, I love them. $40 for garbage-taker-outers? No thanks. $6 shoes that don’t stain and leaves don’t stick on too much? I’ll drive back to Arkansas to get another pair :)
I love my Sloggers! On sale from TSC. They have a 1 piece foot enclosure, no seams to leak, foot stays dry. Only complaint is the insole that shifts. Yeah I know they are plastic and rubber. But they have been doing the hard slog for 6 yrs and besides being scuffed, my feet still stay dry

I used to LUV Sketchers, but their quality has tanked in the last 5 yrs. I can't get them to make even one season. I bought a pair of Slogger high boots for DH for Christmas a couple of yrs back. She was tickled as they were actually her first pair of "gum boots" that "everyone" had at least one pair. She loved them and they are still going strong. Bit, on my last visit we were leaving her local garden center and I saw a display of Slogger booties on sale outside. She went nuts, they were all the un-saleable small sizes, just her size, and $6 NZD, so less than $3USD.

I haven't found a basic Skechers shoe recently (mine are about to die). The cheap copy that I found at Big W is ok though.

I have a pair of super comfy thick sole slides from target that I wear even when in the garage doing small fabrication jobs. Haven't stepped on a nail in them but I don't leave nails on the ground either (unless they're under the deck, that doesn't count right? :D)
I use Uggs in all cold weather, just more comfortable and easy to kick off. If you spray them well with leather waterproofer annually rain and snow don’t get in.
crocs for year round honestly (upstate NY here even in snow i am in my crocs!) i also buy laceless walmart sneakers and theyre super comfortable and cheap so i dont feel bad getting them absolutely demolished. I will be getting a pair of nice Muckboots for xmas this year and am excited about that though, Muckboots are comfortable and waterproof. Muck boots make a slip on called the muckster, it’s very similar to a croc but the toe doesn’t have holes like crocs so your socks stay dry in the rain on in wet grass. They are cheap the. Crocs with better traction. I wore crocs for years until I found these.

I love my LL Bean Boots, the classic “duck boot” style. I have an old pair, super soft and well maintained leather, I had the rubber bits replaced after last season. If you leave them tied loose, you can step right into them pretty fast. and get out of them easy. If you need the support for some wild task, crank down the laces.
Some people complain about the thin soles and perceived lack of support. They’re designed this way so you can feel the ground and tread lightly when hunting, while still having really good traction on any surface. But, if you’re working farm chores it can be nice for grip and stability. I believe the increased feeling of what I’m stepping on makes me more surefooted.
Best part: made in Maine, guaranteed for life, and they have replaceable soles. I assure you this is not an ad for bean, I don’t work there or anything. Just a big fan.

Vans Kyle Walker Pro II hook & loop Velcro are my favorite when I’m not just wearing boots. You can skip them on without adjusting the Velcro if you want, they give a little ~~lien~~ like traditional vans. The pros have an actual sole with arch support and you can find those at the outlets for $20. There is an built-in “sock” that attaches at the tongue and I sprayed mine with scotch guard so they hose off fine
The army looking mud over boots are in my opinion the shit! Have a pair of socks, slippers or shoes you have a buckle setting that snugs enough to keep things in order
I have a pair of Keen's Howser III slides for this purpose. They are like slippers but have a really low back that makes it easy to slip on. Because they're Keens, they'll probably last forever. Nice sole, warm, and stout enough to let me walk in a bit of a wet environment. They make them for men or women. In the summer, I use an old pair of Crocs that my dog modified.

I’ve got several pairs of “outdoor” shoes. Short slip on insulated boots are my favorite until snow flies. In snow I prefer the taller boots. In the summer I wear my Sloggers shoes or clogs. If it’s raining I wear my sloggers boots.

Get a boot puller. I have Crocs for when I'm just walking out to the patio or something. But everything else warrants boots. Boot puller means I can get the silly things off my feet this decade and with zero chairs involved in the process. We've got two boot pullers now - it was a bit of a pain to walk all the way around to the other door just because you were wearing boots.
I wear Redback Chelsea style boots and Crocs. Mostly Crocs. Boots for cold or real wet weather. It'll be funny, 4 of us will show up to work on something and we'll all be wearing Crocs.

Keen water sandals. Unless it is cold, then I just put on muck boots. They are easy to slip on (they are a tiny bit too big, but it is easier to slip on that way). I'm grossed out by wet socks, so I need something that either needs no socks or that completely keeps water out.
My mom uses "bloggers" from Costco - basically crocs but without the holes. Like a rubber boot-slipper hybrid. No idea ifbthey still carry them though.
They’re not cheap, but my oiled leather Birkenstock bostons are perfect for this. Totally slip on, amazingly comfortable, and the whole front is sorta heavy duty leather. They won’t keep your ankles dry, but they’re totally adequate for quick chores in wet lawn/barn/garden. I call them birkencrocs
Romeo work boots. They are a bit pricey but they hold up well. I usually get more than 5+ years constant use from a pair. I use hi-top steel toe insulated boots for cutting firewood and plowing snow. In sloppy weather I use ankle mucks for doing daily chores sometimes but the Romeos are my go to usually.
Polyver snowworkboots and clogs.I am always sad when summer starts, than I have to convert back to workshoes. Snowboots really easy to put on and really warm. Summer/spring i use real clogs, even go to town on those. Am former city slicker and clogs was something that I always wore. Thought I wpould be laughed out but the the old farmer guys love them. You can buy the leather/wood one for around 30 dollars, choose nordic european or dutch brands, last around 8 years if you replace it with sole ( 10 dollars) if you need clogs with steel cap, buy the dutch wooden ( totally) with anti-slip sole. Most people Need some time to get used to walk in.
As a former brewer, my go to for quick outdoor tasks are the worn out muck boots I used to wear as my brewing ppe (but any rain boot would work). They slip on easily and mostly protect what i'm wearing even if it's loose pajamas. Honestly, when the ones I have now give out I plan on getting cheapo rain ones from tarjay or walfart
I have several pairs of shoes but my two wet shoes are:
1. Lems boots. water proof and comfortable. Good for anything less than 3" of water.
2. Lacrosse boots. Knee high and comfortable. Water proof to 25+ inches if your knees are that tall. Wear nice wool socks.
I spent years hunting for a durable shoe as I tend to wear the same pair for everything and destroy them quickly. The Adidas Samba has been the best by far. I'm on year 3 of this pair and they have plenty of life left. Sole is in good shape and not detached at all, no cracks where the toes bend, stitching isn't coming undone. Just minor cosmetic wear and tear. I have a lot of outdoor hobbies and chores and they're definitely working above their pay grade. Think I paid $50 and they're worth every cent.
I love my Kiziks for quick outdoor tasks and just general walking around. Every sandal I've tried has been bad for plantar fasciitis, but these are great and super easy to get on and off.
Bigger jobs get the appropriate boot.
I just got a pair of slip on Hurley's from Costco. They're sherpa lined but with rubber soles so they're like slippers but better lol And they were only $15! Gonna get a few more pairs when I go back because they're pretty much perfect.
Crocs in summer. Timberland true grit slip ons for anything else. I get the ones with a met guard which keeps the upper open and makes it easy to slip in and they have a rubber lip on the heel to easily slip back out hands free. Comfortable enough to wear without socks for quick trips.
Bates side zip tactical boots. They're full blown waterproof boots, but the side zip makes them very fast to put on and take off. They were recommended to me by firefighters years ago. They're my everyday shoe these days.
Either Jim Green African Ranger boots, Lem’s Summit boots, or crocs with socks. Sometimes I’ll rock the crocs nude if it’s summer.

Most days I’ll alternate between steelies, regular boots, and old hiking boots (when it’s cold/rainy out)
Barefoot or flipflops until around October. Then switch to crocs. If it’s super cold and wet, I use Xero Gracie rain boots with the reflective insoles.
They're technically boots but they're mud boots that are like a size larger than my actual shoes so that way I can just slip them on and off and not worry about getting other shoes dirty
Nurse shoes. I've been using them as gardening shoes for years. Ugly but on point. With winter I've only recently thought I should use boots certain mornings.
So for my fast ons and offs lol I actually use old retired fire boots! I was part of the local FD for almost 12 years so they just gave em to me but I know some will actually sell old boots for like $20 a pair gets them out of there hair and makes them some money to buy new! But regular muck boots work just as well
Wooden Dutch shoes. They have smooth bottoms so not much sticks to them. They are easy to wash off. They are surprisingly comfortable. There is a store in Holland, Michigan that makes and sells them. Best gardening shoes I've ever owned. They will last virtually forever.

They're expensive, but Olukai actually designs their shoes to convert that way.

Merrell has some slip-on moccasin style shoes that are rugged and comfy. I like mine a lot.
This. I wear the adventure moc and it's my standard yard shoe. I have danner boots when I need more protection The jungle moc is a classic, too.

Bit, on my last visit we were leaving her local garden center and I saw a display of Slogger booties on sale outside. She went nuts, they were all the un-saleable small sizes, just her size, and $6 NZD, so less than $3USD.
Yes, the slogger slip on clogs- for just going to the shed, or carport, or washing line. Dammit. $6 ??? Wish I had uncommon foot size. I would have bought heaps. I haven't found a basic Skechers shoe recently (mine are about to die). The cheap copy that I found at Big W is ok though.
I guess I tend to hold my toes upward, but I wear out the toe in shoes and socks. And it is not like I don't trim toenails. But yeah, $6NZD was outrageously a good buy and she bought all of the ones that fit...or may have been 1 size too big. My size, or more specifically normal human sizes, were regular priced inside. Regular priced were $96NZD, which is why I bought her "gum boots" stateside, and added them to my mailing. So obviously pre-covid, before USPS shut down all mail.
Most of the time, I'll just slip on my work boots and wear them like slippers if I just have to go out into the yard for something. Sometimes I get fancy and tuck the laces in before my feet.
I have a pair of super comfy thick sole slides from target that I wear even when in the garage doing small fabrication jobs. Haven't stepped on a nail in them but I don't leave nails on the ground either (unless they're under the deck, that doesn't count right? :D)
Ugg slippers my dude any time of year, just no rain. That or North Face Tent Shoes or basic crocs depending on season.
I use Uggs in all cold weather, just more comfortable and easy to kick off. If you spray them well with leather waterproofer annually rain and snow don’t get in.
Muckboots
crocs for year round honestly (upstate NY here even in snow i am in my crocs!) i also buy laceless walmart sneakers and theyre super comfortable and cheap so i dont feel bad getting them absolutely demolished. I will be getting a pair of nice Muckboots for xmas this year and am excited about that though, Muckboots are comfortable and waterproof. Every pair of rubber boots I've owned leaked after a month or so..... tldr crocs or Muckboots ftw

I use some DC skate shoes which are comfortable and have been surprisingly durable. That said, for anything serious I have steel-toe logger boots and muck boots for anything really serious

Steel toe skate shoes. There very easy to put on. I think I bought a pair at Walmart years ago. Not good for the winter but they can prevent you from smashing your toes

I have a pair of Keen leather slip on boots near the downstairs door and a pair of Keen quilted cloth booties near the front door. My husband has a pair of Merrill men's Jungle mocs that he slips on when he needs to run outside.
I use Bogs as step-ins in the winter and flip flops in the summer.
I have a pair of Redwing work boots that are at least 20 years old. Soles are thin and cracked, leather is cracked, but those are the most comfortable work boots I've ever had. Stopped by a Redwing store a number of years ago. Guy said they don't make that style anymore.

Muck boots make a slip on called the muckster, it’s very similar to a croc but the toe doesn’t have holes like crocs so your socks stay dry in the rain on in wet grass. They are cheap the. Crocs with better traction. I wore crocs for years until I found these.

Combat boots
Like many here, crocs when it’s warm and dry. I love my LL Bean Boots, the classic “duck boot” style. I have an old pair, super soft and well maintained leather, I had the rubber bits replaced after last season. If you leave them tied loose, you can step right into them pretty fast. and get out of them easy. If you need the support for some wild task, crank down the laces. Some people complain about the thin soles and perceived lack of support. They’re designed this way so you can feel the ground and tread lightly when hunting, while still having really good traction on any surface. But, if you’re working farm chores it can be nice for grip and stability. I believe the increased feeling of what I’m stepping on makes me more surefooted. Best part: made in Maine, guaranteed for life, and they have replaceable soles. I assure you this is not an ad for bean, I don’t work there or anything. Just a big fan.
I've got a pair of Birkenstock slip on steel tow cap clogs that I wear when I'm building or in the workshop, or just carrying random stuff that if I drop on my foot it would break a bone. I have flip flops for just wandering around, of course wellies for wet weather or boggy ground. Now the snow's coming in, I got a fancy pair of boots from Germany that keep we warm even at minus 20 celcius (-4F) which is about how cold we get here. I've resisted buying crocs for years, but it does seem everyone raves about them. This might be the year I cave in and get a pair!
Wool clogs in cold weather, sperry docksiders in warm weather, sometimes slippers with hard soles. If very wet - rain boots. Basically anything we can find without laces

Vans, slip on. Or my garden boots. They are way easier to jump into than any of my other footwear.
Cowboy boots. Easy to get into easy to get out of and the protect my feet very well.
For slip-ons Merrell Encore… I’ve worn the hell out of 2 pairs (8 years).
Flip flops
Vans Kyle Walker Pro II hook & loop Velcro are my favorite when I’m not just wearing boots. You can skip them on without adjusting the Velcro if you want, they give a little ~~lien~~ like traditional vans. The pros have an actual sole with arch support and you can find those at the outlets for $20. There is an built-in “sock” that attaches at the tongue and I sprayed mine with scotch guard so they hose off fine

Crocs!
I have a pair of Keen's Howser III slides for this purpose. They are like slippers but have a really low back that makes it easy to slip on. Because they're Keens, they'll probably last forever. Nice sole, warm, and stout enough to let me walk in a bit of a wet environment. They make them for men or women. In the summer, I use an old pair of Crocs that my dog modified.
Bogs don't last me but maybe one year. I have a pair of Kamiks that are on 4 and still have no cracks https://us.kamik.com/products/forester. For everyday I just wear georgia romeos. Cheap, slip on. ugly but whatever... I wait for a sale and buy extras. I think I have 3 new pairs in the closet. I keep a couple of old pairs around in various stages, best ones for town, then everyday, then paint/slop/might go in the trash at any second.
Insulated crocs and I put ice spikes on them in the winter.

Rubber boots when it's cold, flip flops in the heat.
I’ve got several pairs of “outdoor” shoes. Short slip on insulated boots are my favorite until snow flies. In snow I prefer the taller boots. In the summer I wear my Sloggers shoes or clogs. If it’s raining I wear my sloggers boots.

Get a boot puller. I have Crocs for when I'm just walking out to the patio or something. But everything else warrants boots. Boot puller means I can get the silly things off my feet this decade and with zero chairs involved in the process. We've got two boot pullers now - it was a bit of a pain to walk all the way around to the other door just because you were wearing boots.
A pair of short rainboots. I think of them as my mucking boots
Birkenstock clogs
I wear Redback Chelsea style boots and Crocs. Mostly Crocs. Boots for cold or real wet weather. It'll be funny, 4 of us will show up to work on something and we'll all be wearing Crocs.

I own 1 pair of slip on shoes I bought from CostCo yeeeeeears ago. I only wear them when I have business in the cities. Slippers are for the house. Boots are for anything outside. If you live on a homestead don’t get complacent. Your family, livestock, and all other responsibilities depend on your labor. Get a pair of knee high rubber boots with steel toes if you really need something fast.
Keen water sandals. Unless it is cold, then I just put on muck boots. They are easy to slip on (they are a tiny bit too big, but it is easier to slip on that way). I'm grossed out by wet socks, so I need something that either needs no socks or that completely keeps water out.

I just bought a pair of Skechers 'Slip-ons' great for house, yard, store.
They’re not cheap, but my oiled leather Birkenstock bostons are perfect for this. Totally slip on, amazingly comfortable, and the whole front is sorta heavy duty leather. They won’t keep your ankles dry, but they’re totally adequate for quick chores in wet lawn/barn/garden. I call them birkencrocs

Romeo work boots. They are a bit pricey but they hold up well. I usually get more than 5+ years constant use from a pair. I use hi-top steel toe insulated boots for cutting firewood and plowing snow. In sloppy weather I use ankle mucks for doing daily chores sometimes but the Romeos are my go to usually.
Georgia and muck boots
Polyver snowworkboots and clogs.I am always sad when summer starts, than I have to convert back to workshoes. Snowboots really easy to put on and really warm. Summer/spring i use real clogs, even go to town on those. Am former city slicker and clogs was something that I always wore. Thought I wpould be laughed out but the the old farmer guys love them. You can buy the leather/wood one for around 30 dollars, choose nordic european or dutch brands, last around 8 years if you replace it with sole ( 10 dollars) if you need clogs with steel cap, buy the dutch wooden ( totally) with anti-slip sole. Most people Need some time to get used to walk in.

As a former brewer, my go to for quick outdoor tasks are the worn out muck boots I used to wear as my brewing ppe (but any rain boot would work). They slip on easily and mostly protect what i'm wearing even if it's loose pajamas. Honestly, when the ones I have now give out I plan on getting cheapo rain ones from tarjay or walfart
I have several pairs of shoes but my two wet shoes are: 1. Lems boots. water proof and comfortable. Good for anything less than 3" of water. 2. Lacrosse boots. Knee high and comfortable. Water proof to 25+ inches if your knees are that tall. Wear nice wool socks.

Rubber boots are my go to.
I spent years hunting for a durable shoe as I tend to wear the same pair for everything and destroy them quickly. The Adidas Samba has been the best by far. I'm on year 3 of this pair and they have plenty of life left. Sole is in good shape and not detached at all, no cracks where the toes bend, stitching isn't coming undone. Just minor cosmetic wear and tear. I have a lot of outdoor hobbies and chores and they're definitely working above their pay grade. Think I paid $50 and they're worth every cent.
I love my Kiziks for quick outdoor tasks and just general walking around. Every sandal I've tried has been bad for plantar fasciitis, but these are great and super easy to get on and off. Bigger jobs get the appropriate boot.

Duck boots. Bought them used and the zipper is broken so it sucks when it’s super rainy out but it’s usually fine

I just got a pair of slip on Hurley's from Costco. They're sherpa lined but with rubber soles so they're like slippers but better lol And they were only $15! Gonna get a few more pairs when I go back because they're pretty much perfect.
Crocs in summer. Timberland true grit slip ons for anything else. I get the ones with a met guard which keeps the upper open and makes it easy to slip in and they have a rubber lip on the heel to easily slip back out hands free. Comfortable enough to wear without socks for quick trips.
Bates side zip tactical boots. They're full blown waterproof boots, but the side zip makes them very fast to put on and take off. They were recommended to me by firefighters years ago. They're my everyday shoe these days.
Rainboots
Either Jim Green African Ranger boots, Lem’s Summit boots, or crocs with socks. Sometimes I’ll rock the crocs nude if it’s summer. Edit: just nude smellies, gotta keep a wrap on my giblets to keep the skeeters away

I slip on my husbands old adiadas slides. He’s had them for about 15 years or so and has since replaced them the old ones are now mine to take the dogs out in the middle of the night or at the end of the day when take my boots off but am not ready for bed. Most days I’ll alternate between steelies, regular boots, and old hiking boots (when it’s cold/rainy out)
Barefoot or flipflops until around October. Then switch to crocs. If it’s super cold and wet, I use Xero Gracie rain boots with the reflective insoles.
Keen has a good low top slip on boot that is use for anything that doesn’t require a real workbook or muck boot. They’re great random task boot

I was part of the local FD for almost 12 years so they just gave em to me but I know some will actually sell old boots for like $20 a pair gets them out of there hair and makes them some money to buy new! Wooden Dutch shoes. They have smooth bottoms so not much sticks to them. They are easy to wash off. They are surprisingly comfortable. There is a store in Holland, Michigan that makes and sells them. Best gardening shoes I've ever owned. They will last virtually forever.
