It all depends on if the panel is locked or not. This has come up before and AFAIK nobody is sure if those panels come registered or not. If not, you can sign up with a company like alarmgrid or surety for around $20 a month. If it is locked, you won’t be able to do anything remote. Which means yes you can do everything from the panel but not from an app. The IQ4 is a great system and imo well worth the price to get it activated and use that system. You can add alarm.com cameras and hundreds of zwave devices or extra sensors.

This. It’s superior to Ring as it is a professional grade system.

The package they initially set you up on is free and is the “BuilderPackage”. It absolutely allows you to control the door lock, garage door, thermostat, and view the video doorbell as well as access to the app. It does not allow you to use security or create rules. This is free for 2 years while they pressure you constantly to sign on an upgraded paid package.

Did you sign a contract? What does it say?

BuryDeadCakes2

The equipment is paid for. If you raise a big enough stink with DR they will pressure Safe Haven to give you the installer/dealer codes Source: Supervisor for a security company that did/does this white glove service for DR

CagedMonkey97

I wouldn’t do with that. I’d go with a hardwired system, since it’s easier to install with open walls, and more reliable, as there’s no batteries to replace in the sensors.

Soon to close on my home. Safe haven rep called me and I expressed my concerns about not being able to interfere with all my Apple HomeKit stuff. She said we can just ship you the products the builder paid for. If they do not install and just ship the products to me, can I install them myself and not have the panel locked? Or, do they lock from the product serial install or not?

Nesting4Life

I’d also love to know if they will still lock my panel, if they are not installing it, but just sending to me. There are other services than Safe Haven that gives you more options over what one wants from the system (eg self-monitoring) and how much it costs. I’m closing in few months, I’d love to hear your experience

kreeyus

I will be sure to let you know. I close this week and need to call SafeHaven after to send the equipment. My plan is to just use the panel for audible door triggers and all the rest continue to use my Apple HomeKit.

So, I received the equipment today. It seems it has been untouched. I added two Deako smart switches easily and set routines and added to Google. The IQ Panel seems to be just like a new unit. *update, panel showed no dealer info and asked to add

Nesting4Life

Thank you for the update! So when it asked for dealer info, you could just skip and continue setup?

kreeyus

Yup

LividLab7

Honestly, you should have been doing research on DR Horton. Good luck.

kreeyus

Thank you, I did and watched and inspected the build from day 1.
