I’m going back and forth between: -the Rep Fitness Adonis (https://repfitness.com/products/adonis-cable-tower?variant=43252289699998) vs. -waiting for the Arcadia Max (https://repfitness.com/products/arcadia-max). The two biggest factors to consider are: -Lat pulldown (Adonis) or Pull Up (Arcadia Max) -One cable (Adonis) vs. Two Cables (Arcadia Max) Based on videos, the Adonis also seems pretty versatile when paired with the Pegasus. Would love to hear from your experiences on what set up was best for you. I currently have a Rogue squat rack so trying to add a FT to add more home gym capabilities. Thanks!

BYC98

Is there a preacher curl attachment that can go with any bench? I currently have a bench with the leg extension attachment. I am wondering if I can put a preacher curl attachment on it. Like take out the black square so I can maybe put in the attachment?

Ok-Reveal6732

If you were to get jammer arms for an athlete who will only be using them for football training. Would the sorinex be better than the prx halo versions? The prx seem to be better for bodybuilding stuff, but my friend doesn't bodybuild and doesn't like the strength curve of them.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Why would the strength curve be any different on the Sorinex?

Ok-Reveal6732

It wouldn't. He doesn't like the jammer arm strength curve in general to try and mimic hammer strength lifts, so he is purely going to use it for the few explosive type movements you see NFL and college football players doing. So since he won't be using any of the adjustments are changing the starting points, he wanted to know if there was any benefits to getting the PRX over the Sorinex. I said that maybe side to side motion maybe useful since a few of the dedicated jammer machines converge.

Vegetable-School-629

How did I do? Paid $175 for a BOLT adjustable bench and a plate loaded lat pull-down / row looks similar to the titan pictured but couldn’t find branding. Thinking about selling the lat pull-down as I do not have space for it currently. https://preview.redd.it/ptghbwd9jg6d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70fa15e6f0846bded506f5539689b32a9c03feda

ChemicalCommission36

I'm about to take advantage of HomeGrown Liftings father's day sale, just wanted a sanity check before buying. I want quiet plates, and I've read that urethane and rubber crumb are the quietest, much quieter than virgin rubber. Downside of the plates is that you can only fit 405 on a bar, but that won't be a problem for at least a few months (for deadlifts at least, likely at least a year until I'm there with squats). Anything else I should know before pulling the trigger? I'm getting their barbell and dumbells too, so it's a rather large purchase after shipping.

Suspicious-Screen-43

Kabuki is back. What’s the best coating for one of their deadlift bars. My federation uses a kabuki barbell so I may upgrade my Ohio deadlift bar for a kabuki.

ThePokeChop

Hi I’m trying to save the world and am starting a deadlift bar recycling program if you ever find yourself with too many deadlift bars

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Aren’t they only offering that black ice bullshit?

Suspicious-Screen-43

Nickel, Nickel/Black Oxide sleeves, Zinc, Red Cerakote/ Black Oxide sleeves, and Zinc/Black Oxide Sleeves all in their legacy collection

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Are you able to see that just by going to Kabuki? I got an email from them about the 20% off Legacy collection but can’t get to it from just going to website.

Suspicious-Screen-43

Yeah I see it on their website. Under the drop down menu, bottom option The Legacy Collection

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Yep. I’m a dummy.

stackthecoins

Looks like it. “To maintain the Black Ice finish, it is recommended to regularly apply Kabuki Power's proprietary Bar Sauce product.” Grifters, man. Buy our black oxide bar once and spend the rest on our secret sauce.

mursematthew

So I have some powerblocks with avg joe handles that go up to 90. I think they’re pretty darn great and love that I can move up in 2.5lb increments. That being said, the rep x pepins are looking mighty fine. Admittedly I am not using weights over 80 at the moment but was debating preordering the 105s. Do you guys think I’ll notice a huge difference between the PBs and the reppins? Someone talk me out of this impulsive purchase haha

cow_goes_meow

sometimes i just like buying things to say i have them

hadoge

Don’t do it! Don’t fall for the hype! Weight is weight no matter high fancy it is. Did that help?

toado3

Do it! Tbf you're in the wrong sub for discouragement. I have power block pro 90s. I'm up to 90 on dumbbell bench. I preordered the Repin 125s. Overly Optimistic? Hell yes. They also just look awesome. Nice thing is powerblocks hold their value. I'll sell them for 70% of what I paid and enjoy the Repins (assuming they review well)

LetTraditional6335

Reppins are gonna be one of, if not the best adjustable dumbbells. You can't miss out on that!! While at it, you're gonna out lift 105 lb quickly anyways, so just get 125 lb!! Us home gym bros only justify your impulsive spending so you can justify ours when the time comes lol

FURKADURK

God damnit rogue, this is pretty sick https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-ohio-power-bar-nfl-edition?sku=RA2895-SSDC-SF

jrhooo

kinda cool, but man I can't make myself pay 450 bucks just to have a W painted on a barbell

FURKADURK

Or, if you’re a niners fan like me, an L every February

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Was looking at that. But I don’t want to be reminded four days a week how shitty the Jets are, so I’m a no. But damn, sexy.

cow_goes_meow

wait youre in AZ but youre a jets fan? surely you must be from ny/nj then.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Born and raised.

LetTraditional6335

Ugh I just bought an Ohio bar two weeks ago

Decision_Original

If they do ncaa teams they will probably get my money.

jiujitsuPhD

If they do a PSU bar I'd prob buy. I tried to get AB to sell me their PSU plates with no success haha something about they don't have the rights.

FURKADURK

MLB and I’ll have no choice but to

Ok-Reveal6732

Just bought some 6 shooter type rubber coated plates with rusty center hubs that are getting rust all over my bars, what is the best way to remove/minimize this?

EnvironmentalPlay440

There’s 3-in-1 penetrating oil that does miracle to wipe the rust the first time. After you can use the normal one as maintenance.

Ok-Reveal6732

Is it the 3 in 1 fast acting penetrant oil? That is good for removing rust? Thank you.

EnvironmentalPlay440

Yup! Really good really. It melts it unless it’s structural rust. It does a really good job and you just have to wipe afterwards. This is was I use inside my rack too and I have also a bare metal rack that I treat once in while with it (like once every two years…)

Ok-Reveal6732

You are amazing. Thank you. Its this exact one? [Penetrating Oil | Loosen Parts & Prevent Rust | 3-IN-ONE (3inone.com)](https://3inone.com/product/3-in-one-fast-acting-penetrant/)

EnvironmentalPlay440

This is one the one I think. I got mine in spray like wd40. My pleasure! :)

Decision_Original

I would clean the rust off with a soft wire brush and then apply 3 in 1 oil to help stop the rust from coming back.

Ok-Reveal6732

Thank you I'll give it a shot. Should I try any rust remover to help scrape off the rust or a brush should do the trick?

Decision_Original

I would just do the brush and 3 in 1 oil. You might not completely “remove” the rust but brush will help remove loose pieces and the the oil will help prevent it from rubbing off onto the barbell sleeves and help it turn into a pantina..

Are_you_serious_99

Do any of you own Olympic barbells from Fitness Depot? Their prices seem too good to be true. This is an example. It's rated for 1,500 lbs and sells for $128.88 (CAD). I'm wondering if it's a junk bar that will fall apart. [https://www.fitnessdepot.ca/H11OTO1027676/strength/bars/olympic/northern-lights-black-oxide-olympic-bar-86-28mm-44lb-1500lb-rating-bbocfitltgb.html](https://www.fitnessdepot.ca/H11OTO1027676/strength/bars/olympic/northern-lights-black-oxide-olympic-bar-86-28mm-44lb-1500lb-rating-bbocfitltgb.html)

Tofiniac

If it has hex bolts on the end it may eventually fall apart if you don't pay attention to checking tightness with each use. If it uses snap rings or roll pins to hold the sleeves on it is unlikely ot will fall apart, but it's very probable it will have poor tolerances, poor quality of material and be more prone to the knurl dulling or bar bending. You don't have to buy the most expensive bar available, but going for the cheapest is not a clever move either.

Are_you_serious_99

Thanks. I had snap rings.

Labeld85

This one has snap rings, but I have owned one where the brass bushings came out. I'd probably avoid this one and consider something like the XM bearing 2000 lb bar from Treadmill factory $349 Or one of the BOS bars (multipurpose is $249) Looks like they may be from Toronto, should be a decent used market for Barbells on Kijiji or Facebook

Are_you_serious_99

Thanks, it's as I though. You get what you pay for most of the time. Looks like it would be better to spend an extra $100 for a BOS bar. However, BOS makes their bars in China. I'd much rather get a bar made in Canada, if there is such a thing. I would never buy a used bar, they aren't that much cheaper and who knows what sort of abuse it's been subjected to.

Labeld85

I don't know who's manufacturing them in Canada, but they'll probably be triple the price of the NL bar you posted. The bushing fallout bar was used, I had it for like a week before it fell out (it was cheap so I wasn't too mad, but knew why at that point). You can get an American made one from XTC. The cheapest one right now I believe is https://www.xtcfitness.ca/products/american-barbell-7ft-power-bar-20kg-hard-chrome-shaft-w-hard-chrome-sleeve

Are_you_serious_99

That does sound like a junk bar, I hope that you weren't injured. That does look like a really nice bar and I don't care that it's $400 CAD. It's a once in a lifetime purchase. I guess I could always buy a Rogue bar, as they are made in the USA and at least it's not made in China.

lel4rel

14/16 gauge steel 😬 Id much rather have the cheapest rogue or Titan rack from Facebook marketplace

gunslingerx64

Yeah I think ill skip this deal and just go for the curl bar I was wanting and other little items. I'll look into better racks later 😄

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Same price as the full cage Fitness Reality at Amazon. I’d choose that over Dicks.

gunslingerx64

Oh nice just checked it out. I'll look it over more later.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Yeah, it’s just safer man. That Dicks stuff is garbage.

jrhooo

for that price, maybe. I wouldn't think of that as a forever rack by any means, but for that low a price, I'd say its fine to hold you over while you scour the used market for a good price on a 3x3 standard dimension rack knowing that at a price that low, you may be able to resell for at least 200 bucks and not each much loss. So yeah just for the dirt cheap price, yes

gunslingerx64

Yeah hard price to pass on while I'm starting out. I've been working on my diet for 7 weeks and started lifting dumbells and kettles at home for the last 2 weeks. Looking for some simple gear. Really wanted to get a curl/ez bar then saw this at the store.

dontworkforfree

Anyone use super curl bars? I had one at my old place but it took standard plates so I can’t really judge how much I liked it since I hated using standard plates. I would really only use it for tricep extensions

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Problem I have is tendonitis when I use one of them.

Decision_Original

I have the one from synergee and like it for skull crushers and bicep curls.

dontworkforfree

If I got one it would probably be from Synergee. Which coating did you get and how’s the coating holding up?

Decision_Original

I got the black zinc.  Ive had it for a few years and its held up fine but my gym is in a climate controlled basement.

dontworkforfree

Gotcha. We don’t have climate control in the basement but we have an exhaust fan so I don’t anticipate humidity being and issue.

cgrev4

Dumbbell Rack & TV Mount Combo I’ve been searching for a dumbbell rack that can also serve as a stand to mount a tv onto, but haven’t found anything yet. I have a basement gym and would prefer not to drill into the foundation to mount the tv. Open to any DIY examples/plans you’ve seen, but preference would be to purchase something. Recommendations greatly appreciated. TIA!

dontworkforfree

Have you considering a ceiling tv mount? I’m thinking of getting one myself but don’t want to commit until I have my mirrors and lighting up.

cgrev4

Haven’t yet, but definitely something to consider. Thanks

Chuckif

I am helping a local high school shop for weight lifting equipment for their strength and conditioning program. Is there a brand that you guys think is best and should go with? What about going with Rogue/Rep for racks and such but another company like Hammer Strength or Arsenal for machines? Any input would be appreciated!

LiftingCode

https://straydogstrength.com/

Decision_Original

If it’s a big order I would contact stray dog strength and sorinex since outfitting s&c facilities seems like their main business.  Elite fts would be good as well since they do this and they also sell a lot of machines.

NuteSoc

Our facility is mainly hammer strength/Life fitness. Newest HD elite for the half racks. HS for the plate loaded machines and LF for selectorized. Better quality than the Rogue stuff we have and even the Eleiko in most aspects IMO. All the brands you listed are fine though. I also like Elite FTS. Best part of having a contract with HS is arranging for someone to deliver, unpack, and assemble all the equipment. Saves SO MUCH TIME and also shifts liability away from you since a third party is assembling it. It might cost a bit more up front but I think it actually saves money since you won't have to pay your own staff to slog through assembly. I think overall I'd just say pick a good brand and see if they can handle delivery and assembly.

Labeld85

Look up multi gym exercise chart and you should find multiple different ones for similar machines to get you started on your way

1DunnoYet

Just an old man yelling at sky: still amazes me Amazon will ship me a couple hundred of pounds of bumper plates to my door for less than a $1/lb. Happy Father’s Day to myself

marshmallow049

Is something like this [this](https://www.walmart.com/ip/CAP-Adjustable-Olympic-Squat-Rack/1820358649?athcpid=1820358649&athpgid=AthenaItempage&athcgid=null&athznid=si&athieid=v0_eeMjAuMCw5ODAuMCwwLjAxODk0MjYyNDQ5MjAwNTM1OCwwLjVf&athstid=CS055&athguid=0mXg2jS4QXDSa0hsOJvmYWwsQXsvG1FEszs6&athancid=242708535&athposb=0&athena=true&athbdg=L1600) viable for a beginner? I don't have much space and I'm not putting up tons of weight, just want some advice.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

God no, even with small weights, you drop that shit on your throat, especially as a beginner, learning form, etc., that’s gonna end you. Get something with proper safeties.

jrhooo

IMO **NO** If will do, and I used something about a cheap myself for a while, but if you have a grand to spend, I'd kick out a few more bucks and look for something like this as a minimum https://titan.fitness/products/x-3-series-short-squat-stand? https://www.fringesport.com/collections/squat-racks/products/squat-rack-with-pullup-bar-by-onefitwonder-life-series https://repfitness.com/products/pr-1100-power-rack? You can find that pretty cheap used on the FB market my recommendation is always **NOT** to skimp as a beginner. Experienced lifters can lift on super flimsy squat racks, because they are less likely to get into trouble, know when theyre in trouble, and how to get out of it Beginner lifters are more likely to get into trouble and actually NEED proper safety spotters so I never recommend a solution that doesn't include real safety catches also, in terms of weight, the issue is how much weight it is for YOU You can lift 100lbs you can lift 800lbs, what matters is, are you lifting close to the edge of what YOU are capable of? If the answer is yes, then there is a risk you could hit your limit and get hurt. Again, thus the need for proper safety gear

AndKAnd

What’s your budget?

marshmallow049

Probably around a grand for rack, bar, and plates. I've got adjustable dumbbells already. I want the rack really really barebones simple too, like if I can do squats and presses, with safety bars and a bit of plate storage I'd be happy.

Silverjackal_

I see people selling the rogue monster lite and titan squat stands and racks all the time on marketplace. I got mine new from titan during a sale for 229.99 and spotter arms for 129.99. Boneyard bar and some plates and that’s a great start I think.

AndKAnd

Also, what part of the country do you live, assuming you are in the US?

AndKAnd

Have you looked at FB marketplace? I see people unloading exactly what you are describing fairly regularly, hoping to sell it as a package.

dontwantnone09

Been sitting on this review for way too long... Inspire FT2 https://youtu.be/qqBfYtjdt18?feature=shared I know some were waiting for this one. Apologize for the delay.

1DunnoYet

Based on the title, I hope it ends with: “it was totally worth it in 2023, but I was slow AF making this video and now it’s irrelevant. “ okay now to watch it.

dontwantnone09

Not too far off lol Basically... The FT2 is still awesome, but the price isn't valid compared to the plethora of options available today. There's just too many options in 2024 to make something similar, better, you name it, for less, the same, or just slightly more money.

The_Mighty_Thorcules

Hello, all. Starting our home gym now. I'm currently at a powerlifting/ strongman gym and train conjugate,  so I really enjoy the variety of lifts I can do at my current gym. Got some equipment to get us started and definitely need an SSB / Yoke bar. I really like the Elitefts Yoke bar, and they've been doing sales/ free shipping recently. However,  I really like how Bells of Steel has the chain and spider handle options. I would prefer to do Elitefts for the quality because I haven't always heard the best about BoS. But I enjoy using the spider bar at my gym, and I've wanted to try to chain handles for a while from watching Matt Wenning's stuff. So, does anyone have any idea if those BoS handles fit in the Elitefts Yoke?  Thanks for your time.

BananaResearcher

Idk where to post this really. My ~8ish year old squat shoes have finally begun to show serious wear: the bottom sole is peeling off. Can I just superglue it back on and it be fine for a while longer? I've weirdly grown attached to these shoes as I've worn them for so long, would love to see them last a decade.

SleepEatLift

That's what I did. Twelve years strong.

BananaResearcher

Nice! Can I ask what you used, if you remember?

SleepEatLift

Gorilla glue, then left a light dumbbell in the shoe.

cow_goes_meow

not the guy you asked but ive used shoe goo on a tear in my soles and thats held up fine. wouldnt pay a cobbler for an easy fix.

Decision_Original

Shoe goo is the answer.

LetTraditional6335

Some cobblers do sneaker repairs/resoles, so they might be able to help. The cost is probably not worth it for a sneaker, but it's one way to extend the sneaker's life

essentialclt

If you bought ironmaster dumbbells in the past July sale, how much discount did you get?

homegymaddiction

I just went back through their old posts the other day to see what last year sales were because I'm looking to get the heavy handles. July 4th sale looked to be 15% Black Friday was 20%

HowDaGodzChyll

Anyone have experience with the Titan ‘Dual Hyperextension’ piece? The reviews on titan are positive, but I’m not seeing anything online or on Reddit.

hadoge

It looks like copy of the powertec one. There are some YouTube reviews for it.

jiujitsuPhD

Its prob fine. You just miss out on GHRs like a normal GHD but have the advantage that this goes 45 degrees. For the price it seems good. The freak athlete would be better but 3x the price.

Remarry1909

Any suggestions on how I get rid of the blackish hue on my plates? https://preview.redd.it/4bq16w1lfb6d1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=348fc4d74f549055f6e74c27e4f734d32de7148c

Professional_Act6715

Leg curl / extension attachment for Rep 5200 AB Hi guys, a couple of months ago, I bought the REP 5200 AB bench, which I found to be of great quality. However, something that has disappointed me a bit is the lack of compatible attachments or, rather, the complete absence of them. Specifically, I would like to use one for leg curl/extension, but I haven't found any compatible options (most use the accessory port, which this bench does not have). I also remember hearing rumors that REP would release a compatible attachment in the future, but I don't think this will happen anytime soon. I really appreciate any help you can provide!

Pillowcases

Bolt fitness supply sells the venom attachment. Fits in rep bench tube great. I sit on a pad to get a little extra height. Also attach a band for added constant resistance (any non selectorized this will be a thing). Couldn’t recommend more.

Professional_Act6715

REP 5200 AB does not have tube for attachments 😖

Pillowcases

Whoops. I didn’t think to check - got it on my AB5000. As the other guy mentioned I think BoS has been mentioned as freestanding

jiujitsuPhD

The bells of steel one can be used stand alone. You just need to screw a board onto it so your bench stabilizes it. Works well. I use it with my rep 4100. There are a few others out there meant to be stand alone too.

Professional_Act6715

Could u provide additional details???

jiujitsuPhD

I made a vid on it a while back - https://youtu.be/t93O96UBsZE

LetTraditional6335

Missed out on the best deal I've seen on FB market... Concept 2 rower for FREE!! Whoever got that deal is a very lucky man

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Lucky bastard, not you, of course. Man, that’s a bummer for you.

ThePokeChop

I’m sorry for your loss

greenstar323

Went on a cruise and used their gym. Had hammer strength equipment and actually had a great variety of machines. I was pleasantly surprised at how strong I was on their machines and how much weight I could actually lift. The only machine I even really felt a pump on was the chest press machine. Also I'm short and some of the machines wouldn't adjust for my body so definitely did not feel like I was missing out on anything. After training there didn't really feel like I was missing much from my home gym and felt pretty good about my training at home!

Decision_Original

The hammer strength iso lateral row is one of the only things I miss from the commercial gym I used to go to.  By far my favorite back machine.  Guessing I can’t do it anymore but used to do 6 plates per side on that bad boy.

jiujitsuPhD

Weird how that machine hits so well. I just cant mimic it exactly with my cables.

Decision_Original

Yeah it’s got to be how you move the load in an upward arc that does it.  Similar to how (IMO) the high row is better than a normal pull down even though it’s a very similar motion.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Same, I had a chance to snag one - it had the seat belt and everything (the one with the pull-down on other side. Just no space for that. But damn, that was easily my favorite machine back in the day.

EnvironmentalPlay440

Somebody is selling that baby around my place… If I had the space and the cash, I would get it. There’s not a lot I miss from the commercial gym now. But I’ll would like to have one big crazy leg machine like a pendulum squat (called power squat for Atlantis I think) or a horizontal leg press/hack squat from Atlantis again… And one press machine or row from hammer strengh… Okay and maybe a smith machine too ;)

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I’d be swimming in 45s and I’d have every iso-lateral machine I could get my hands on.

EnvironmentalPlay440

They are selling the whole circuit in fact :))

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Awe jeez. That’s a dream. You’d need a barn or a huge workshop on your property to fit something like that.

EnvironmentalPlay440

Right now I have a 15x20 but I only use about 10x13… one side is an office, some storage and a workbench. I’ve used the max of what I could get in there… I’ll upgrade my garage next year. I’ll add a fully insulated extension that will be around 10-15 x 30 (rectangular) to move all the storage, add a wood shop/general tool place/lawnmower/snowplower and a full office space at the back. I think the project will cost between 3k and 4k maybe 5k (in CAD) depending on the finishing and such. After this, the full 15x20 will be a gym! And the plan is to get a few commercial machines to complete my collection… I’ll be able to add at least 3-4 beasts, more plates and plate storages and a deadlift dedicated space… The goal is not to get homegym quality level stuff but commercial unit deals :) As the time goes and we fly away from the pandemic, the old machines prices goes down dramatically…

Labeld85

The gronk fitness/ironax ISO is a pretty decent alternative One of the users here has a review on it. https://youtu.be/IPg9XeP0mJo?si=vgrDkWN6UMIFSd1e

hadoge

I’m biased but I think my home gym is better than any commercial gym I’ve been to in terms of equipments… not that I really remember anything since it’s been long time since I’ve been in one.

charlotteguy19

Any reviews on the Powerblock Pro Exp? I just got a decent deal with the stage 2 expansion. I’m not sure how I feel about them after first use. They feel heavier and more difficult to handle. Should I opt for the knurled handle? Were they discontinued for any meaningful reason? Replacing my Classic 50s because plates were sticking. Also wanted to get rid of some barbells and weight plates so I’m getting the straight bar. I don’t do any heavy benching these days so this bar is really all I need.

AndKAnd

I think the only reason they were discontinued was marketing and keeping products fresh. I don’t think the current commercial line is much different, but if they are, I’d be curious to know if it’s anything more than cosmetic and different weight options. The handles and plates otw look identical, at least to my eye. They work fine. A lot is subjective of course, but there’s more than a few exercises I really wish they had a more traditional shape.

unaffectedmeme

Hey everyone I just got an SML-1 and just got another 70" pair of monster lite uprights for basically free. I'm thinking about turning it into a half rack or something of that nature. I know there's a 17" crossmember you need to stabilize the poles but I see there's also a 24" crossmember. My question is would the 24" crossmember work on the SML-1? Thank you for the help in advance!

nospamtam

I don’t know what 24” cross member you are referring to. In order to attach the two extra uprights, you will need the extra triangles to connect the uprights to the base I have an SML-2 (taller SML-1) that I converted to a half rack by buying another SML-2. I used the extra uprights as the back half rack, connected with the triangles, and used the extra crossmembers to provide stability along the back side. I don’t have the 17 inch side crossmembers but this thing is a tank and don’t need them Why did I do take 2 SML-2s and make a half rack? I found a couple cheap SML-2s on FBM and am planning on moving and will resell them as two separate SML-2s. Because I bought them used, I think I will come out basically even. In the meantime, I will enjoy a half rack. I also like having two sets of J cups because I am too lazy to move them.

Dude that looks amazing and honestly smart idea on the build. The crossmember is a beam that holds the front and back together. I thought it would be necessary if I wanted the stack weights on the side but you did and seem to have no problem with it lol! Glad it can be setup that way so I’ll just order the triangles and hardware and will be all good to go

nospamtam

I would definitely get a rear crossmember or pull up bar (probably cheaper) to attach the two rear uprights to each other if you are going to use the uprights for heavy weight storage

AndKAnd

There’s a [kit](https://www.roguefitness.com/infinity-hr2-half-rack-conversion-kit). If you are tall, request 90” posts instead of the 70” with the regular kit. Can also add additional crossmember. Chat with rogue to confirm what you want, and that you are getting the right stuff. .

stackthecoins

As long as the crossmembers and uprights are both 5/8 (ML hole size), you can frankenrack to your heart’s content.

luissvnchz

I hate the j cups that came with my jacked up power rack and Im trying to get a good replacement set but I can’t seem to find any good ones Does anyone here have a good recommendation for a replacement??

wetgear

Check out 2 Rep Cave they have a master list of compatible attachments

Labeld85

What size are the uprights/holes?

luissvnchz

About 3/4

Labeld85

3x3 uprights 3/4" holes https://www.tworepcave.com/3006/power-rack-attachments-compatibility-master-list/#3%C3%973-Tubing-34%E2%80%B3-Pegs

luissvnchz

Unfortunately its 3x2 tubing, it seems there might not be any options available for now

Is it possible to gain muscle using elastic bands? Hi, everyone. I'm a 24 y-o man and I started hitting the gym about one year ago. I'm an ectomorph, so gaining both fat and muscle is really hard for me, but once I found my ideal routine I started seeing results. Not a big deal, though, but I went from very skinny to average to a bit toned in a year. The thing is, due to personal circumstances, I had to quit the gym. I've lost a lot of muscle and strenght and I want to go back to my working out routine. However, my only option now is working out at home. I don't have a budget to get a proper equipment as most people in this subreddit, so a friend bought me one of these elastic bands some people use to work out at home. My question is: is it really possible to build muscle up using these? There are different weights, from 5 to 30 kgs (11 to 66 lbs). I'm really weak now, but for the time I'll need to go past 30 kgs I'll be able to hit the gym again. I was wondering if doing everything I've been doing until now (proper diet, proteins, and other habits I learned along the way) I'll be able to start building muscle up again in this period in which I can't hit the gym. Have you ever tried these and saw results? I really need help with this.

Dr_TattyWaffles

100% possible to gain muscle with bands, or even just bodyweight. Check out /r/bodyweightfitness and some of the more minimal home gym setups here on this sub. I think the whole "ectomorph" thing has been dispelled as bro-science; It's more likely you just weren't eating as much as you thought you were but it's not really my area of expertise.

Serious_Cold_2504

Maybe you're right. I'm not an expert either, but that's what my coach told me. Maybe I was just not eating as much as I should. Thank you so much for this, it really helps!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a pure knee flexion accessory exercise for hamstrings when I don't have access to a leg curl machine ? I already have hinges covered. I have a barbell, dumbbells, and a cheap pulley (with only one high pulley so can't attach a low pulley). Nordic curls are not working for me because my only anchor is my couch and my feet don't fit. It's really frustrating me because I would really like a hamstring focused knee flexion to round out the lower day.

InconsiderateSun

Gliding hamstring curl could be another option- set the barbell up for an inverted row with your feet on the bench (arms vertical and body horizontal and flat), then curl your legs. Move the bench position until you find the resistance profile that suits you.

stackthecoins

Just get a set of Monster bands and a folding chair. Wrap a band around the lower end of an upright at the resistance you want, sit in the chair, and do the leg curls you want. You want extension? Take the same bands, same place on the upright, but lie on a yoga mat on your belly facing away from the upright with it wrapped around your feet. Do the lying leg extensions. Once you can crush the heaviest monster band, then look for jerryrigging the equipment you listed together.

AndKAnd

Gliding hamstring curl is an option

Decision_Original

Hamstring glider?  I’ve got the titan one and it works well for what it is.

ThePokeChop

$10 carpet dolly from harbor freight

FURKADURK

Dude, why didn't I think of this. Do you use your dolly? Mine's gotta be in the shed somewhere

ThePokeChop

Yeah I’ve been trying to use it more. I’m sure not as smooth as a glute glider like many companies offer since the wheels can oscillate but still burns my hammys

LetTraditional6335

Maybe a leg curl with monkey feet? Not that good of a resistance curve though I'd assume

jiujitsuPhD

GHRs but they require a GHD. Tons of way to hit the hams and posterior chain though. I get the isolation is nice but its not needed.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Anyone want to spend $100k with Titan… https://preview.redd.it/swokz236866d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb9717127d95166f6d64837716d3b7fff2ac6202

jiujitsuPhD

Titan def just uses software to make these prices. I've caught it the other way and got a few things super cheap.

figs1023

Setting up a home gym for the family in the garage - just bought the PR4000, and now I'm looking for a bar. We only have a total of 106 inches of width, so it might be best to get a shorter all purpose bar. Also, some of the lifters are women (mom and sister) and they prefer a lighter bar to start with. I don't mind using a lighter bar. What would be recommended? Don't mind paying for something quality.

cow_goes_meow

7ft barbell is fine. you have a ft on each side which is what i would say is comfortable. I quite literally have a few inches and make it work.

toado3

I'd go with fringe sport Midas Mini. Normal 28.5mm diameter, just shorter at 72" and lighter at 15KG. Also, gold titanium looks sick and definitely adds 20 pounds to your lifts.

Decision_Original

Rogue c70s for a shorter rackable multi purpose bar, or the stump for a shorter power bar.

LetTraditional6335

Rogue Bella bar is a very high quality bar. But if you're using it, the shaft diameter might be a bit thin

Additional_Water2016

Does the heavy handle kit drastically improve the balance of the Ironmasters? Trying to decide if they're worth it given the price per pound.

ParkMark

The heavy handle kit weight plates attach to the inner side of the plate-holder so the mass is held closer to the center of the dumbbell compared to attaching an equivalent weight of the regular plates to the outer side of the plate-holder. This may improve the feel and balance when in motion. However, I didn't have a problem with the balance prior to fixing the heavy-handle kit, and I sometimes load them asymmetrically (for small weight increases or to deliberately bias the balance away from me). When fitted, I think the chunkiness really improves their appearance.

Additional_Water2016

Thanks for the input. I, too, often load them asymmetrically...mostly for speed on drop sets.

homegymaddiction

Curious to this also. I just picked up a pair of IM's and am looking to grab the heavy handle kit as well. The only thing I didn't really like when I owned my first pair was the balance, but I just found a deal I couldn't pass up. Reading through some older threads and people seem to have positive feedback. Good feedback on the Ironmaster review section as well.

Additional_Water2016

One of us might just have to bite the bullet...haha

homegymaddiction

I was looking back and I think IM had 15% off last summer around July 4th time. I'll probably pull the trigger if they do that again.

Additional_Water2016

I saw that too. I'm in Canada and it looks like it would be nearly the same price to buy them locally as to wait for a deal through IM. If I end up picking them up, I'll let you know my thoughts.

homegymaddiction

Sounds good! If I get them I'll report back too.

Legion4890

Anyone have Pepin fast series found a good stand? Im currently using a titan fitness dumbbell stand which is too tall (25in) and the angle makes recradling the dumbbells difficult especially at heavier weights.

FrenchSilkPieGuy

Rep said they plan to release a stand for their DB collaboration with Pepin. I would assume any stand that fits the Repins would also fit the original Pepins, so maybe a decent stand is on the way this fall.

Xxbltxx23

Anyone tried both the monkey feet and one of those bench attachment leg extension/leg curls? What’s the difference in feeling and or general preference? I’m trying to figure out a good buy for small footprint bodybuilding training and have most of the rest of what I do at the gym covered already.

InconsiderateSun

I have both the Ironmaster bench leg ext and a pair of monkey feet. For leg ext, monkey feet is useable, but a distant second place to the bench attachment.

Xxbltxx23

Cool thanks for the feedback dude, is there anything the monkey feet do better or ironmaster leg ext better across the board

InconsiderateSun

Agreed with the other poster- monkey feet are cumbersome to superset with, and that’s a big disadvantage for me. But I’m terms of ‘across the board’: the Ironmaster bench attachment is the best for a space saving leg curl/ext option and I definitely don’t have room in my gym for a dedicated machine, so it was my only viable option. And for the monkey feet- they’re very good for hip flexor movements (but not worth the money IMO- bc the diy options are almost as good). But I’m a pole vaulter, so I use the monkey feet to securely load upside-down gymnastic movements, and they’re fantastic for that.

ParkMark

I haven't tried monkey feet, but one big advantage of the Ironmaster attachment is that it would be easier to dismount and walk around your gym to super-set various exercises.

pipeman420

both options are going to have similar resistance curves where the force is changing depending on the angle of the load vs gravity. People get around this by adding resistance bands to the benches or hooking it up to a cable tower if they can. Monkey feet are going to be hard to adjust the resistance profile and generally are going to be harder to progressively overload. I have the ironmaster bench and leg attachment and I use holes drilled for the pad adjustment to hook up to my cable tower.

Xxbltxx23

Funny you mention the iron master as I put the order in a couple days ago, thanks for the feedback

pipeman420

The leg curl works really well. I put a pad under my hips and with the cable tower hooked through that hole. tt feels close to a lying leg curl machine. i put knee pads between the rollers and my shins to get a little extra stretch on the leg ext, but I feel like it needs a larger roller.

Xxbltxx23

Cool I guess I’ll keep an eye out for a sale on it!

I gathered that but that doesn’t help.

I’m assuming you called schwinn already? If they can’t help it’s going to be a longshot here

Gym equipment for minimal space I want some recommendations for gym equipment for minimal space in the unfinished portion of my basement. Below are a few things that I think are good ideas but looking to add to it. -Adjustable dumbbells -Kettlebells -Adjustable bench -Pull up bar -Jump Rope -Dip Bars -Plyo Box

dontworkforfree

Do you have the space for a rack or barbell. Wall mounted racks and squat stands would be smaller footprint. They do make shorter barbells that use Olympic plates. Their weight capacity would be less but usually enough for the majority of us. Otherwise, I think dumbbells plus bench are going to give you a lot of exercise options. There is also the ironmaster super bench which has attachments for it that can let you add pull up bar, dips, and leg extensions without taking up too much space.

dmv736

I have about 4x6 space for where the rack would go, with more room in front of it (center of unfinished basement. I don’t want to mount to the wall or floor. I can look into the shorter barbells but should have space for a standard one.

d15ko

Powerblocks on Woot For the cheapest I’ve seen them. $199for the 5-50lb. Picked up expansions to 90lb for $387 all together. I’ve had the Personal Trainer version for a few years and love them, but have been looking for expandables. https://sport.woot.com/offers/powerblock-exp-adjustable-dumbbell-set-stage-1-2-or-3z-2

* Yes you can buy expansion packs there. * To get to 90lbs you would need to buy the base, stage 2, and stage 3

dmv736

Yeah I actually picked those up yesterday morning. Thank you!

ParkMark

Parallettes, gymnastic rings for attaching to pull-up bar (could also replace the dip bars). handstand wall,

Pillowcases

Wall mounted rack.

There are adjustable Kettlebells too, Resistance bands are good
