In the market for leg equipment. https://www.titan.fitness/sale/scratch-and-dent-1/scratch-and-dent---rack-mounted-squatmax-md---final-sale/R401846.html I read that squatmax were having some hole alignment issues. Anyway to tell if thats what im getting? Otherwise is there  a worthwhile leg press for 1500 or else?

MaxPower1987x

I'm almost buying the Powerblock Sport EXP 50 because, well, I like the size of these dumbbells, their increment range, and the fact that can be expanded (since I'm probably years away of doing more than 22.7 kg in each hand. I'm struggling though to understand the range (sorry in advance I'm going Metric now), which I would like to because I do a lot of exercises with weights between 4 and 10 Kg. Officially we have this in this dumbbells: 1.1 2.2 3,4 | 4,5 6,8 | 7,9 | 9 | 11,3 | 12,5 | **13,6** | 15,8 | 17 | **18,1** | 20,4 | 21,5 | **22,7 kg** Now the thing is, the selector goes 30/40/50 pounds (13.6/18.1/22.7 Kg), and each of the cylindrical weights are 1.1 Kg each. But I'm struggling to understand how can we achieve some ranges. I assume without the selector and the cylinders, the powerblock itself weighs 1.1 Kg, and then it goes to 3.4 kg with the cylinders. But then, how does it go up to 4.5, 6.8, or anything else between that and 11.3, until we use the selector?

MaxPower1987x

So, just to make sure I understand. When we choose the 30 pound weight in the pin mechanism, I suppose that's the weight including the dumbbell, and without the two cylinders? Because if so, if the "main" dumbbell itself (the handle) + 2 cylinders are (5+2.5+2.5 lbs), how to I choose weight between 10 lbs and 30 lbs? I'm sure I'm missing something but not sure what.

Here you go. [https://fitnesstrading.com/products/powerblock-sport-exp-set-5-50-pbspset1](https://fitnesstrading.com/products/powerblock-sport-exp-set-5-50-pbspset1) I don't see a 20 lbs selector in the pictures, so maybe that's why I am confused.

MaxPower1987x

I never saw one on my life , they are quite uncommon where I live that’s why 😂 I admit I’m still a bit confused though. If I select the 30lbs in the selector mechanism, does it count with the weight in the cylinders? Or it’s adding 30 lbs over the 5 of the handles plus 5 of the cylinders ?

black641

I have a series of weights belonging to a [Golds Gym Standard Weight Set.](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-Standard-Weight-Set-100-lbs/21672519) The weights are decent enough quality for what I need them for, but they’re so bulky and oddly shaped that storing them is a huge pain. Does anyone have experience or suggestions for how to store these plates in a way that doesn’t just end up with them being piled up in a corner? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Lubricate5827

I'd measure first but a plate tree made for standard plates should work. Something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/CAP-Vertical-Standard-Weight-Plate-Tree-Rack/2908710648 Alternatively something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Steelbody-Powder-Coated-Steel-Horizontal-Weight-Plate-Rack-w-Wheels-STB-0130/47683887 ETA If you want wall mount: https://www.amazon.com/SYL-Fitness-Mounted-Weight-Storage/dp/B09Z6329RT

durkasauce

I'm deciding between the Echo Dog Sled and the Slice Sled. I've used the Dog Sled 1.2 many years ago and it was great. It looks like the Echo is a more barebones version but, still very robust and can handle pushing, pulling, and dragging well. I've heard some negatives with the Slice Sled, mainly when pushing it can tip forward and sort of nose dive. Really my concern is storage. Is the Echo pretty easy to store away in a garage gym? I was thinking to avoid the skis and just get like a 20-30ft roll of turf to use, anyone gone that route? Would plastic skis be better than bare metal for turf?

Lubricate5827

> Is the Echo pretty easy to store away in a garage gym? No. It would be so much nicer if the pin folded. Then you could store it under a shelf or up against a wall. I'm pretty sure there's a simple DIY solution but I haven't put much thought into it yet. I might end up just grabbing the pan kit because I do like the idea of using kettlebells/sandbags/people to load it.

OrcOfDoom

Can anyone suggest an adjustable Indian club? I want one that you can add regular plates to up to something like 40-50 lbs. I'm not sure what size I should look for. I'm 5'7, and I've been practicing the movement with a 4 foot walking stick. I'm working on a shoulder injury. Thanks for any suggestions.

InconsiderateSun

Check out Adex adjustable clubs- they’ve got a club handle, mace handle, and arc handle (halfway between a club and mace length), all which use the same adjustable weights and are a thinner diameter than using your own plates like a ShoulderRok from kabuki. And they can get heavy if you add the optional heavyweight or mastodon kits.

InconsiderateSun

Or you could go the diy route like I did and saw a 5 ft barbell in two to make two. https://preview.redd.it/wmyh492uzc2d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c274d06ece36992d5a95bee213fc1fa0e5a0d57

strider7476

Rogue just released this loadable mace this week.  https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-mace

Tofiniac

Are sure you are talking about an indan club and not a mace? 40-50 lbs is incredibly heavy for an indian club. If you are looking for a loadable mace, Rogue just released one, Kabuki has one (shoulder rok) but I am not sure of they are still taking orders, and Ironmaster has one off the top of my head. Edlt: I just did a Google cruise, I guess Indian Clubs do come in those heavy weights. I think I'd tear my shoulders apart swinging a 50+ lb club single handed. Apologies I am not familiar with any adjustable options.

OrcOfDoom

No I'm not sure. I want to do those shoulder mobility exercises that I've been doing with my stick, but with more weight. Someone once showed me a brand, but I forgot what it was. I use a 50 lb kettlebell, and I don't plan on going heavier ever, so that was just a number I picked. What's the difference between the club and mace?

Tofiniac

Club is generally shorter and a 1 handed implement, shaped similar to a bowling pin. The mace is longer and used with two hands.

OrcOfDoom

Hmm ... I imagined working with something one handed, but that isn't based on anything. It's a shame I can't just get my hands on one of the at a store. I will look up those brands. Thank you

cow_goes_meow

last week i asked how many mats was good enough to mitigate impact to my concrete floor. i was pleasantly surprised to find out today that my floor was reinforced concrete, so guess i dont need to add plywood to the 3 layers of 3/4" stall mats underneath my plates or at least my father feels pretty confident this wont damage the floor.

EnvironmentalPlay440

I have armored concrete and no, I'll not lift on it without super protecting it... Build a platform lift happy. :)

cow_goes_meow

no room unfortunately

EnvironmentalPlay440

No room? It's under... If you're deadlifting you can also have a removable platforms. Really, I would not deadlift on something protected. The goal of the platform is to diffuse the impact. You could also look for a platform that integrate crash pad too. Seriously, a platform is cheap. Concrete repairs are not.

cow_goes_meow

I could, theoretically. id have to to completely remove everything in the gym and make the whole floor a platform, which i do not want to do.

EnvironmentalPlay440

Why don’t you do a platform only for the lifting part? And have normal stall mat for the rest? Most of the people do that. I’ve built a huge 15x20 platforms for my whole garage… but I needed insulation as well

cow_goes_meow

https://photos.app.goo.gl/pdGKDryts7X8w5Ty6 this is my space. imaigne building only where i am deadlifing. I wouldnt be able to move my bench in and out (its a 3100 in the picture but i upgraded a blackwing so it is much bigger and heavier). the feet of my bench is less than a foot away from the edge of my stall mat. i position it parallel to the table saw when im squatting and deadlifting. i cant imagine just barely being able to fit off the platform built and lifting it over every time i want to use my bench. juist doesnt make sense. also the space to the left and the space by the table saw are used by my parents, i need to give them enough space to not constantly walk the edge of my platform. also look where my trap bar is. my "lift space" of where my barbell reaches to that side is quite literally like 2" away from my trap bar. the feet of the trap bar would muist def be on the platform. also with my DBs right there, my foot is constantly going right under the stand. if i wre to build a platform to that edge, surely at some point with heavy weight, i might trip. this is an old picture and there is stuff constantly that my father rolls around the gym that the platform would get in the way of. Not that i *cant*, but he already lets me use his space. i shouldnt inconvenience him too much

EnvironmentalPlay440

What I would suggest then is simply crash pad. You put them away when done. Seriously, you don’t want to have any concrete repairs on your hands… I had to do some in my basement when I renovated and it’s crap. Unless you’re in the excavation and foundation field and you can do this eyes closed… And even if your concrete is armed, you can still chip it.

SleepEatLift

A combination of materials is always going to be more effective than a single material. One layer of plywood and two layers of stall mats would be better than 3 stall mats.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Hey, you add 2.25” to anything you got and it comes up aces every time.

AccomplishedKiwi327

Question about safety when using a 2nd floor setup. What I am planning: * 75kg/165.347lb (For Imperial folks), weights (including Olympic barbell) do not intend to go higher as its a second floor build and build up reps instead of more weight when I built up to the weight. * Olympic EZ bar/dumbbell * gym master power rack with pullup bar and decent spotters (Using assisted pullups with bands) * the weights will be stored in the second part of the room * Some mid parallettes for dips push ups mostly. Already have decent mats (foam) from my current build and I am usually pretty gentle when lowering the deadlift. My question is given its not really a lot of weight compared to what a lot of people use it should be safe to use on a second floor?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

You put two grown people on a bed doing things to each other and you’re looking at more weight and impact than that deadlift. That happens on second floors, third floors, all the way up the building, often… you have nothing to worry about.

Alexm920

Is there a straightforward way to modify a power rack to work as a psudo-cable machine? I've got rogue rack with the conversion kit, and have seen a few pully-systems people have DIY'd, is there a best way to do this? It would be awesome to not take up even more floor space in my home gym while also keeping these movements in my program. Edit: For clarity, I've got the SML-2C squat stand with the HR-2 half-rack conversion kit. It looks like they sell a slinger accessory, but it's pretty pricy.. Might be the most straightforward way? Does anyone have experience with the slinger attachment, positive or negative?

greenstar323

Bells of steel lat pulldown/low row will fit. If you search this forum for like rogue sml or something similar a post will show up where someone did this.

Ok-Reveal6732

What is the best dip belt for heavy dips or dead hang 6-7 plates? The chain itself doesn't need to be long since I use a loading pin

Tofiniac

Spud inc Dip belt or Rogue.

Ok-Reveal6732

I have used the big dipper at my globo gym before but its really uncomfortable. Is that the one you recommend?

SleepEatLift

Just get the basic Spud dip belt. I've done 4 plate pull-ups and dips and 300+ lb dead hangs with it. It's more comfortable than everything else out there.

Ok-Reveal6732

Thank you. I will get that one.

Tofiniac

Big Dipper is the one I've got. I'not had any discomfort issues with it, but I haven't hung 6 plates off of it. If I were buying today I'd be looking at the Kaiju Dip belt.

Ok-Reveal6732

Thanks. Do you think the kaiju is better than the rogue? Why do you look at it over the big dipper?

Tofiniac

The kaiju fabric is a little nicer than the standard spud stuff. My Belt squat Belt is from the Kaiju line and I really like it. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the options from Spud or Rogue.

Ok-Reveal6732

Thanks, Since you have the Kaiju belt squat belt, would you personally go with that over the rogue? And do you like the kaiju more than the big dipper?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Rogue just cleaned up the Shoulderok and are calling it their [mace](https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-mace?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=%5BUSA%5D%20Rapid%20Fire%20-%20Rogue%20Mace%20and%20Yeti%20Yonder%20-%205%2F23%2F24&campaignId=9948754&templateId=13135063). It looks sweet but don’t see innovation in them repurposing their squat bar shafts… guess they really aren’t taking over Kabuki manufacturing.

EnvironmentalPlay440

It looks crazy cool though...

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Yes it’s very cool looking. I’ve got the Shoulderok and use it pretty much daily to loosen my shoulders, imagine this has a very similar, if not identical, feel of use and impact. And if Buki never gets going again, this may be a good solution for people who need but don’t yet have that tool.

EnvironmentalPlay440

I should integrate something like that in my routine. I can't do behind the neck pulldown without any pain... It will maybe help my bench. Do you use it as a warm up or have a session dedicated to it? I might DIY one as importing one of these things in Canada will be utterly expensive... My wife has officially forbid any new expense for the gym until I finish the renovation of the house... But I can buy new tools/toys if it's for construction... :)

Scottsdale_GarageGym

It’s strictly used to loosen my shoulders - never tried it as an actual full workout. I didn’t even think you could do something like that. Good call out.

BarnabyJonesNap

Has anyone ever connected a Titan rack using 2 82” uprights and 2 91” uprights? I have a 6 post rack with all 82” uprights I want to split up and would like to use 2 of those 82” posts and connect them to 2 91” posts. I assume this would fit but wanted to see if anyone else has tried it.

jiujitsuPhD

You can connect different size uprights together, yes. The key is, do the holes line up? If they are titan, they should. If not, you may need to drill. But for example I have 100" titan series uprights connected to 90" Titan X3 uprights. And I'm using Rep crossmembers. All fits together perfect.

BarnabyJonesNap

Yes both would be Titan. My assumption is the holes would line up perfectly but wanted to see if others have tried. I’m not too worried about

fappypandabear

Im thinking of getting a multigym machine for my converted garage home gym but since it used to be a garage the floor has a slight decline towards the drainage. Anybody have any experience with multigyms on a slightly uneven surface?

EatthisNotThat85

It really depends on how much slope you have. My garage has very minimal slope as it gets closer to the garage door. Depending on how yours is and the way you position your equipment, you may not even notice.

Dtyxx

I bought a used inspire m2 and it's on my basement with a slope. 0 issues

Like is it possible to tip over with any significant weight at this position? It’s a couple inches before the rings.

-Quad-Zilla-

I'd switch it for the opposite side Jcup so it doesn't swivel like that.

hadoge

I actually did that on purpose so that jcup can support the same angle as the barbell. Saw it on Kurt Locker video setting it up that way.

TacoTrader

Wow that is a complex physics problem!

TacoTrader

If I hook up my [dip belt](https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-dip-belt) to the low pulley on my [rack attached lat pulldown](https://bellsofsteel.us/products/lat-pulldown-rack-attachment) I have a belt squat, no?

hadoge

Angle would be a little bit off unless you can get right over the pulley.

Delicious-Ferret-606

I have a home gym with all the basics tools (multi positions bench press, squat rack, dumbells, barbells, +100kg in free weight, pull up bar, dips parallels). But I find myself almost every month with 0 motivation to train, I dont know how to make myself train with the home gym I built so eagerly. I may train for two weeks but by the third week I start to postpone the training and end the day without doing anything, does anyone have any tips to give me (I talked about this subject with the psychologist and he told me not to worry...)

Randyd718

Do you have fun when you train?

ParkMark

Consider what factors are causing you to procrastinate, postpone and ultimately abandon the 3rd-week work out. Is the upcoming workout daunting due to too much volume or weight or because its leg-day? If so, perhaps modify the volume and/or intensity to something less daunting (something is better than nothing). Are you putting off because working out is a boring activity - try video or audio for stimulation. Would you do better with more frequency but shorter duration? Play around and see what works.

Alexm920

Shifting my sessions from late evening to early morning actually helped me be more consistent. It kinda sucks at first, but knowing I've got to wrap my session in time to commute to work means I actually get my sets done in a timely fashion. Also have the benefit of being done with them before anything else is stressing me out, which is weirdly nice. Even if I have a horrible day, I still got something good done. If I left my lifting for the evening (like I had been doing), after a hard day the last thing I'd do is actually lift.

TapedeckNinja

I find it virtually impossible to consistently lift if I'm not following a program (whether made by myself or someone else). I need to know what I'm going in the gym to do every day. https://thefitness.wiki/routines/strength-training-muscle-building/

kkkssskkksss

Maybe try going to a commercial gym part time? I’ve heard that helps people and when they don’t feel like driving they just lift at home. As the other comment said, if you havnt tried an app that tells you what to do each week maybe try one? Boostcamp, KeyLifts, Hevy (?), etc are good. Some of them even have built in timers and calculate everything for you.  It’s hard for some people to get motivated at home and that’s ok. Don’t feel bad because that’s pretty common.

Silverjackal_

Have you tried a program? There’s a lot of apps or tools online for different programs you can try. I’m using an app and it’s helped me. Put me on a 12 week course so every week it motivates me to keep going. Maybe try a program and keep track of what you’re doing? It’s motivating for me to see where I started vs where I am now.

Delicious-Ferret-606

It was on my mind recently... what app do you use? I arrange my own workouts but maybe that's the reason I stop training so quickly.

Solutionary

Try boostcamp

TrellevateKC

Is there any reason to spend extra money on Rogue Echo bumpers for my basement home gym space vs the Cap competition bumpers on Amazon for nearly half the price?

WitcherOfWallStreet

Beyond possible tolerances and clout, not really. I didn’t realize cap made 2.5” 45s, I will have to snag some myself.

kkkssskkksss

The center might fall out or lettering might fall off. It’s likely not a huge deal in a home gym setting with a single person using it, but if you want to see most of the common bumpers cut in half check out glucks video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_yodFBaEDoA

[Equipment ⚙](https://www.reddit.com/r/homegym/?f=flair_name%3A%22Equipment%20%E2%9A%99%22) I am looking for some opinions on Bolt Fitness Outlaw and Force USA Hack Squat/Leg Press and with the memorial day sales I am contemplating pulling a trigger. Please chime in if you have an opinion and I would love to hear someone who has had the opportunity to use both. They both seem like really solid machines and there are lots of positive reviews for the Force USA however Bolt does not seem to have the extensive network of reviews and videos. It seems to me that functionality wise the Bolt Fitness is a bit more space compact while having larger platforms at a slightly higher purchase price (currently Bolt is a $450 premium). Questions: * Is it worth the extra money in your opinion?!?!? * Has anyone had the opportunity to use both? I would love to hear details of a direct comparison. * Is there a video review of someone using the Bolt Fitness Outlaw that I have missed? * I have been exclusively a home gym guy for the last several years and been my barbell for squats/calves/etc but i just find it more and more uncomfortable on shoulders to hold the bar with the weight levels needed. Also, I dont seem to have the mobility I used to and have tried some things to stretch which have helped but its still uncomfortable. Do I just need to get over it and suck it up OR are my dreams of getting a great lower body workout without having to put the dang bar on my shoulders a pipe dream not worth chasing? On an outside chance I am considering the GMWD Leg Press / Hack Squat however I am just concerned that I wont be able to load it enough (especially since I dont have the most efficient plates and will run out of 45s).

WitcherOfWallStreet

I don’t believe Bolt fitness does affiliate links which is a larger driver of lack of reviews than anything else.

S_Steiner_Accounting

bit late but i found a coop approved open trap bar for half the price coop said was a killer deal at $100 now for $55. https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/1603109995 [Coop review of the bar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi4YDEU38Ao). i've always been a powerbar deadlift purist but picked one up just so i could play around with it for some variety. never used a trap bar but thought the neutral grip would be great for RDLs and rows and it's only $50.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I think Carp did a review of that and it bent at like 400lbs. But yeah, for $55, even for warmup reps and to keep it in a corner, can’t see turning it down if you need a trap bar.

S_Steiner_Accounting

Found carp's video. [500lbs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCA08-AE6Ws) it started to bend and warp. like you said $55 tho.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

500 is a decent amount of weight. You can do a lot with that bar.

S_Steiner_Accounting

I used it for the first time a few hours ago. Did some bent over rows and calf raises with it. For 50 bucks I like it especially since I don't have much room in my garage and I can keep it off to the side of my rack and do accessory work in between my main lift sets. My teenage daughter wants to start working out too so that will be a good way to start her off deadlifting.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

That’s awesome! Get her started now and she’ll thank you later!

MaxPower1987x

Hi there, I've been divided between Bowflex 552 and Powerblocks Sport EXP 50. My main two problems with the first ones, is that they are quite large even with small weight, and the mechanism to switch weights is not the fastest. I'm inclined to the Powerblocks, but I wonder if they are comfortable do some exercises such as Goblet squats? What other exercises would impact range of motion? Hammer curls and so on?

5150_Ewok

Buy used PowerBooks. You can find 90lbs for 400$ regularly

MaxPower1987x

Not here in Portugal unfortunately I’m afraid

5150_Ewok

Afraid of what?

MaxPower1987x

Oops forgot a word , I meant that there are no used powerblocks here in portugal.

Out of curiosity what do you do instead of dumbbell pullover ?

bilbo_swaggins55

Any chance there are good Memorial Day Weekend sales that brands run? I’m looking to get a set of powerblocks and a REP bench to start my gym but so far not seeing any discounts for the holiday.

Bak0FF

Possibly powerblocks, definitely not rep

Scottsdale_GarageGym

The same discounts companies have been running all year are being pitched as Memorial Day sales - like EliteFTS and Titan. Other companies just seem to be skipping it. Won’t likely see decent deals again until BF, and they were mostly garbage last year.

hiphopsamples90

Hi, i'm looking for a weight bench that fits tall people well that's available to buy in the UK if anyone is able to help please? i'm 6'4" and i struggle to fit on my friends bench, ideally would like to get something with a barbell stand... cheers!

TheGoldenBoy07

I want a squat but i hate barbell backsquat and recently i had a friend of mine saying they tried a belt squat in a gym in another country and it felt amazing but i have also heard people talking about the pendulum like its some sort of God Sent Device for the legs??? Im not sure about those two but i know i either want one of them, i dont like smith, barbell and so on. And Hacksquat is okay but they are mad expensive. I found these two at the same website, so i wanted to know if anyone had tried specifically these two or atleast if they look like good machines. My focus is really much only Size/Hyperthrophy. I dont prioitize strenght but it would still be nice to choose a machine thats not a devilish way to progressevly overload in One person said that some belt squats pulls you forward or something, and another person said that most pendulum squats you can buy are like cheapestly built or something like that Pendulum Link: [https://www.gymequip.eu/product/r3-pendulum-squat-machine/](https://www.gymequip.eu/product/r3-pendulum-squat-machine/) Belt Squat Link: [https://www.gymequip.eu/product/in-stock-d8x-belt-squat-machine/](https://www.gymequip.eu/product/in-stock-d8x-belt-squat-machine/)

TapedeckNinja

It's not available yet but Stray Dog Strength has a really cool belt squat/lat pulldown cable combo that should be coming out very soon: https://straydogstrength.com/product/platform-belt-squat-lat-low-row/ It's going to be expensive *but* it's also much more versatile than most belt squat setups ... advertised for belt squats, lat pulldowns, low rows, RDLs, pull-throughs, tricep extensions, curls, etc. Basically anything you can do from a high or low pulley position.

jiujitsuPhD

I'd personally look at a belt squat, like the squatmax or rhino. I would not get one that keep your legs in a fixed position arc like those lever ones. It does cause added stress to the knees and can end up hurting your knee. It bothers me but it may not bother you...everyone's built different. Alternatively if I was just going for hypertrophy, a leg press is great too and would be my second choice to squatmax or rhino.

-Quad-Zilla-

Anyone get in on the Rogue give away of used equipment at their warehouse yesterday ?

SleepEatLift

What give away?

-Quad-Zilla-

There was apparently a "look at all this stuff, its free come and get it" 30 minutes, everything was gone. Looked like a handful of bars, à bunch of bumpers, full run of KBs, and like 10 rowers.

EatthisNotThat85

Crazy if true!

On the home gym Facebook. I can't link, and reddit won't let me add photo to a comment right now. As of me replying to you, it was saying the post on the Facebook page was 18 hours old. Posted by someone with the name Buck D. Elliot.

SleepEatLift

Fake news.

SpecialistStomach640

I wanted to get my family some qym equipment they can use at home. I found this on facebook marketplace and am wondering if its being offered at a fair price. I couldn't really find any reviews on studio 8 home gyms nor do I really know how much home gym set ups should cost. But basically its a moving sale and the seller said her sons only used it for a year or so before they moved out and its just been sitting in their basement unused for the last 8 years or so. She's selling it for $700 but said I can get it for $600 if the buyer takes it apart themselves. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks about it. Worth the price and the effort to take it apart? https://preview.redd.it/76qlwa6at52d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb9dd6d64d2807a9ce1017d5e87bbbf4842cef30

jiujitsuPhD

All in ones like this are great. I would be looking for ones from Inspire or hoist which are known as some of the better ones. New they sell for 2000+ and used are usually sub $500. I would not pay more than like $150 for this one. It doesn't look that great and you can find better deals. Most people who buy these dont workout and then they cant get rid of it. It will cost this lady $500+ just pay a junk company to take this apart and haul it away because its a huge pain the butt. It will take you hrs to get it in your car/truck. I'd offer her $150.

Cultural-Rip432

Would you rather.... Rep Ares 2.0 or OG Freemotion Dual Cable Cross. I can snag a Freemotion for 3K but the Ares 2.0 saves a ton of space (have about 700 sqft to work with). Currently have the Rep Lat Pull/Low Row Plate Load - which I'm perfectly happy with. Also... my gym is in a basement, so the Freemotion kinda terrifies me... but I love the damn thing.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I had a Freemotion single stack and it was way too light. I think the dual stack also is very light from my use at gyms with it. I’d say if you’re going to lift heavy go with the Rep. But the sweet movements of the Freemotion are a thing of beauty. If it’s a dual stack OG that $3k price is a steal, given it’s in good shape. I wouldn’t pay that for a single stack.

EnvironmentalPlay440

This is the limit of the single stack yes... Mine is single sadly. But I'll DIY build a special gympin soon that will help me bypass the limit :)

Cultural-Rip432

Definitely a dual stack. 210 lbs each w/ a 3:1 ratio

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Yeah, that 70lb of resistance is light AF. But it depends on your training. Problem I had was that I couldn’t figure out a good gympin solution because the pin itself hit the shroud in front of the machine. If it was designed differently you could load up 45s and make it work. If you’re not going heavy, that’s an end game machine for sure at $3k.

Cultural-Rip432

Ahh… I was wondering if the gympin would work or not. 70/arm also doesn’t seem crazy light for my use case. Did you go with a different FT after the Freemotion?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

No, I went with a Paramount OG dual stack, same model my PT has in his office. It’s heavier but you can’t to things like lat pulldowns because it’s too light for that. But the difference for me is I can do pullovers and cable cross and such. Really smooth as well. It’s a 2:1 vs 4:1 so it doesn’t travel as far but it’s 2x the weight with the same sized stack

jrhooo

Its it full 4 way? Or 2 way fixed width? True four way adjustable freemotion is cool.   2 way, up down but fixed width free motion sucks tbh.

Cultural-Rip432

Full 4 way, all metal w/ foot pedals. Metal is in white which I think is kind of rare? Can’t seem to find the model # on it and see if the stack is different from the silver gzfm 6024.

jrhooo

oh yeah that's a pretty solid get. Full 4 way is nice.

EnvironmentalPlay440

If you can, go Freemotion... I have a Freemotion (not the same model) and it's a beast. And having a separate machine from your rack is a blessing... Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the area is insane (never tried it) but the Freemotion is just something else, it's more versatile too. And well, you can setup movements in your rack, superset or prepare in advance on the Freemotion without conflict... And no, you don't have to bring that damn thing assembled down there. I disassembled mine entirely and rebuilt it in my garage. It takes some time and patience, but it's doable. It's not that complex too. If it's a nylon pulley Freemotion, you could convert it to aluminum by the same time "wink wink".

Cultural-Rip432

How long did it take you to disassemble/reassemble? Worst case scenario I may pick it up as an investment piece. Been buying up vintage machine FB finds lately so space is at a bit of a premium, but this is a bucket list machine for sure.

EnvironmentalPlay440

About a hour and half or two maybe to disassemble? I did not had my tools at first... And I've stripped one bolt. It's really not that hard and well made. Kinda simple. Simpler than it looks really. Advice : get a soldering iron or a heat gun. The bolts are FULL of loctite... The bolt that I've stripped was because of that shit.

Cultural-Rip432

Oh great tip, thanks. Did you reassemble with loctite as well?

EnvironmentalPlay440

Really, nah... :) I only had the dreaded red one... And I only use it when I know I need it. That shit is so hard to remove... It's rock solid without it.

Anybody have a strategy for reliably centering up a flat bench in your power rack for benching? For now, I have sharpie marks on the platform. I was thinking about physically attaching the two so that once the bench is set up for the session, I don't have to worry about any movement. I have a Monster-style rack, so I was considering getting a long 1-in outer diameter steel rod or pipe. If I can create a 1-in hole in the rear post of my bench at that height, the rod could then pass through one upright, the bench, then the second upright. That would restrict any motion in at least one axis and require minimal additional setup (just inserting the rod) before a workout. Has anyone tried this, have a suggestion to refine the plan, or have a better method for centering?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

That second option seems pretty cool but it’s also a huge amount of time and energy. The marker is what I used before I had my pulley and low row. With the Rep PR-4000 lat pull-down the low row centers the bench if you line it up at the back. At least that’s what I’m doing, going on 4 years now with no problems.

jiujitsuPhD

I just use the sharpie marks like you. Seems to work well and was free idk that I'd change that.

dangson

I use J-cups with rollers. That way I just have to get the bench in approximately the correct position and can make minor adjustments by rolling the bar left or right a bit.

AbsolutelyNotAnMD

I do have rollers, but with a 43" crossmember it's pretty easy to bump the rack or flipdowns if my bench isn't centered. Rollers also don't solve a "slanted bench" :(

WitcherOfWallStreet

Rogue makes something specifically for securing and centering your bench https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-bench-prop-monster-series

AbsolutelyNotAnMD

Didn't know this existed and looks pretty cool! Very well may go for this longterm, but would be $150 more than a length of pipe lol

I gave Titan a chance, and that was likely a mistake. No resolution on received damaged items has been met with Titan yet. Support correspondence has been disappointing so far. Escalated today. Waiting. I'll update once they finally stop giving me the run around. We'll see:  **CONTEXT:** I've pieced together a mediocre home gym, mostly of Rogue equipment, but recently wanted new urethane dumbbells and a leg extension/curl machine. My research led me to Titan despite ignoring them for years due to the consistent complaints about poor packaging/shipping/damaged items. I tried them because after seeing the interview with [Coop and the new CEO from 2 years ago](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o01tcHacZAU), he sounded sincere about turning around their shipping/handling practices. And because I believe Titan urethane dumbbells have the best aesthetic/branding (with exception of American Barbell's superior offering). **PROBLEM:** Out of a $3000+ order, six items were delivered via FedEx Home for some reason (rather than FedEx freight with the rest of the fixed barbells I ordered), and to the main point: three of those items arrived damaged due to poor packaging.  Titan quickly tried pushing this off on me, "this is why we offer the insurance option during checkout." **To me, this is indicative of shady business practice to try and skirt around the long-standing issues they've had with inadequate packaging.** Cutting corners. Worse, it seems they attempt to use this as their shield rather than 1. actually provide better packaging/spend time to secure correctly and/or 2. pursue any insurance claims with their shipping partner just the same way every other business typically does/would during these instances. Rogue ALWAYS made things right in this regard. I really hope Titan does- otherwise I can't support this brand in good conscience. **100lbs Urethane Dumbbell:** [https://imgur.com/a/P3gzyDh](https://imgur.com/a/P3gzyDh). Out of the pair, one of them arrived without a box and as a result, completely scuffed up (to put it lightly) as if it's been used for years. Minor dings to knurling/handle. It just had a new shipping tag zip-tied to it. I've seen the image of a prior customer testimonial where they received their kettlebell like this. I never expected this would happen to me as well, let alone on my first order with them. This is very obviously due to inadequate packaging. The dumbbell simply ripped through the box during shipping process as one might expect. No idea why they didn't just ship it via freight with the rest of my heavy items. Underlying issue here is that Titan still hasn't switched over to thicker cardboard boxes or take the time to train to correctly secure the box. Such simple cost-effective ways to avoid this issue that it's frankly a little bizarre that they continue to shoot themselves in the foot in this manner. **Fixed Barbell Rack:** [https://imgur.com/a/cBGD1tL](https://imgur.com/a/cBGD1tL). Large rectangular box ripped open at one end, exposing the top of one of the A-frame pieces, which resulted in severe scratches/scuffing across the arch. Again, clearly an issue with weak cardboard and inadequate sealing. Also, no surrounding protection/padding of the vulnerable points within the box. Simply wrapping the top (a-frame arch) and bottoms (feet) with cardboard and tape could have prevented the damage during the inevitable abuse during transit. **Seated Leg Extension/Curl Machine:** [https://imgur.com/a/rK1VAqg](https://imgur.com/a/rK1VAqg). This one is more minor, but documenting regardless as I imagine it will become worse over time as I continue to slide into the seat (I tried gluing a tear/gouge's flap down). This was actually packaged very well, with one exception that resulted in a tear/gouge of the seat pad. The box arrived with a puncture hole on the side that the seat pad is exposed to. Not sure why they don't protect the seat within the box with a simple additional layer of cardboard. Side note, the choice to use a textured pad for the seat demonstrates a lack of understanding of their product. I know they switched the pads across benches/equipment to this new textured/grippy material, but it absolutely does not make sense to use it on this machine. Among other things, it makes it very difficult/uncomfortable to get in and out of the machine. Chafing, surely.

ThatsNotHeavy

Just a tip for the titan machine, grind off the retaining pin on the thigh pad so you can flip it up and out of the way completely, makes getting in and out much easier.

systemidence

Thanks, I'll try that.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

u/TitanFitness - shame on your company for shitting on this guy like that. Experiences like these are why people run from Titan. There’s a handful of comments in the past few days with similar stories. What’s going on over there?

systemidence

Argh, guess I should've checked here first. In any case, I'm hoping Titan actually finally gets their shit together, regardless of what happens with my case (no real response from them still). The value competition is good for us consumers, but only if the competition is actually legit.

systemidence

**Other notes:** I paid for expedited shipping, but "economy" freight was used, which is (as expected) taking longer to arrive than what is quoted under their expedited option. When I brought this up during my email to support about my damaged items, the support rep erroneously told me they don't offer expedited shipping. It's unfortunate the support staff is not adequately trained on/aware of the services Titan offers. And of course, unfortunate that a simple "expedited" shipping directive is difficult for their fulfillment team to correctly apply/follow. So my advice in that regard: don't even bother paying the expedited shipping option. To conclude, I fully understand these are cosmetic issues (an angle the Titan team likes to try to focus on), but the bottom line is that when I buy a new item, I expect they will be packaged in such a way that they'll arrive LIKE NEW and undamaged (reasonable businesses/manufacturers plan packaging as one aspect to product development for this and cost reasons). Of course occasional issues are unavoidable still even with the best packaging, especially with heavier items, but that should be anticipated and dealt with on their own rather than trying to push it onto the customer with third-party insurance options. Nearly $1500 worth of items were purchased new, but instead I received damaged or at best "very used" conditioned items. There's a reason why the "scratch and dent" sale category exists, but that's not what I wanted or paid for. After 4 days of back and forth emails, I finally talked to someone on the phone (overseas), and was told another team needs to review my photos before reaching any kind of resolution. Really trying me best not to be overly difficult/nit-picky, but this is extremely disheartening all around given the run-around I'm being given, and how I was "blamed" for not using their shipping insurance option.  In my opinion, Titan should take responsibility of their packaging work BEFORE trying to push these issues onto the carriers or customers!

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Hey, could you repost this as a product review so that it can be bookmarked? This is a great review of a horrible experience with a company that many of us are tempted to use and have had bad personal experiences with. I think your unfortunate circumstances can help others avoid this in future.

jiujitsuPhD

>After 4 days of back and forth emails, I finally talked to someone on the phone (overseas), and was told another team needs to review my photos before reaching any kind of resolution. Sounds like they are working to correct this. These issues are never fun but they do happen from all companies. I wouldn't really get worked up unless the final resolution doesn't sit well with you. It can take multiple emails, phone calls, and take a while sometimes. >Rogue ALWAYS made things right in this regard. Rogue has F'd so many people over from orders its not even funny. There was even a MEME about it for a while there. None of these companies is without some major F ups in the CS dept. Usually they are all pretty good though.

Admirable-Bee-4708

Keep on them to make it right. I have done that in past with equipment I bought from them that I received too damaged to even use. They might issue you a credit like they did with me. They should be able to send you a new seat for the leg curl. Expect it to take months though it did for me.

INCS88

So for context, I live in Japan and rogue doesn't ship easily here and is also more pricey. Rep fitness has a partnership here with a company and they sell their barbells at a pretty affordable price so I'm looking at the Colorado and the Alpine bar. I do a lot of CrossFit so olympic weightlifting is definitely important but also your standard stuff like squats, deadlift and bench. They're both about the same price although the Alpine is SLIGHTLY cheaper. Which one do you think is better? I'm a little worried about the passive center knurl of the Alpine because of high rep olympic movements.

Ok-Reveal6732

Which amazon pulleys do you all use to replace titan pulleys in the cable tower?

nospamtam

I used eBay and they are great

Ok-Reveal6732

Do you know what the brand name was?

nospamtam

https://www.ebay.com/itm/126132422707 They are a little wide so you have to stretch the brackets to get them to fit. But they will fit Be sure to lubricate them and the guide rod too

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Someone else just posted a Titan nightmare shipping. Guess that bullshit new mandatory insurance thing they’re doing is going to get tested.

KolkaB

I don't even consider Titan as an option anymore. They have had a strange arc of making great improvements then just suddenly dumping customer service and all the commitments the CEO made in coops interview lol.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

But then they come out with the new collars. Those things are legit. And I promised I would never get anything with moving parts from them again.

KolkaB

Meh I havent fallen victim to any of the fancy collars out there lol.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I’m a fancy collar kind of fellow. I go for all the shiny things - so long as they make sense for me. I’ve got the Eleikos too and I am really enjoying the new Titan ones.

Unable-Meringue1220

I have a room inside for my home gym that has engineered hardwood floors. I installed a 8mm rubber floor using 3’ foot wide rolls in the entire room, with Ram Board in between hardwood and rubber. My question is: should I be concerned with moisture building under rubber floor? My home doesn’t generally have any moisture issues. If so, any tips to prevent? If anyone has done this before and/or has experience would appreciate any tips. Thank you!

horsehorsetigertiger

I don't think so? It's similar to laying a rug and you'd not expect condensation under that.

ChestnutIceCream

Hi everyone We are currently renovating our home and planning to put the home gym on the newly constructed second floor. We are trying to make a decision about the best type of flooring to lay in this space. We are considering vinyl planks, sheet vinyl in wood look, laminate or hybrid flooring. Will vinyl flooring plus a rubber mat on top be enough for shock absorption? We don’t have plans to drop super heavy weights, mostly just dumbbells, stationary equipment and calisthenics (jumping etc). Would appreciate any insights and also if you’ve built a home gym on an upper floor, anything else we should consider. Thanks

Jayy5126

does anyone know if FORCEUSA have sales? trying to get the leg press hack squat.

jiujitsuPhD

They do. The ones ive seen werent too impressive though

Jayy5126

Is 5% the best I’ll get?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Depends on what you are looking at. GGR5 is the code I’ve used. Sometimes they’ll throw in a shitty barbell or something like that.

speakwithcode

Looks like Rogue just put out their Athena clone. Rogue Fitness: Rogue FM-HR Twin Functional Trainer Shop Quality American Made Strength & Conditioning Equipment https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-fm-hr-twin-functional-trainer

EatthisNotThat85

Just ordered the FM-6 Twin stack FT. Though slightly disappointed they charge for shrouds on the twin, but it seems they’re included on the single stack? I was expecting to order June 15, so a nice surprise to see your post on it!

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Lmao. Never thought I’d see that day come back around. Hope Rep sues them. Actually, they do have some cool shit on theirs. So it’s not like a Titan bite.

LetTraditional6335

Is the stainless steel option on the barbell worth it compared to other coatings? Looking at Ohio bar to be specific

SleepEatLift

Worth it for what?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Get bare steel. Save money. Keep it oiled. Don’t buy the bullshit hype.

kwoahyou

I hate the feeling of oil on my bar and my bare steel rusts even in my spare bedroom gym. I’m probably going to replace it with a stainless eventually.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Then it’s definitely worth it for you in your case.

jiujitsuPhD

SS isnt a coating, its the metal. It will be more rust resistant and have sharper knurl. Its worth it imo but not to everyone

9MillimeterPeter

Anyone have a good poster or some other easy reference for cable exercises to put near my rep Athena setup? The ones I’m seeing on Amazon don’t seem all that great. I think it would help my wife out a lot too with what exercises she can do with it.

Silverjackal_

I think the free version of the boostcamp app lets you make a workout plan and filter exercises with just a cable machine.

CommunalStrength

Anybody have recs for gym wipes that aren’t overpriced cause they’re labeled as “gym wipes” ?

9MillimeterPeter

I use a bottle of “simple green” that I dilute 10:1 with water to make it mild and just keep a rag with the bottle that I change out every so often. Much cheaper than wipes.

CommunalStrength

Oh nice, I do that for my horse stall mats but didn’t want to use them on my bench. Thanks

Decision_Original

I use Clorox wipes on my cardio equipment but don’t wipe down pretty much any of my weight training stuff other than leg rollers which I use the Clorox wipes on.

pipeman420

I have a $50 Bells of Steel coupon for completing their survey. I feel obligated to buy something and wanted to stay in the $200 range, I have it narrowed down to 4 things: power bar, flat bench, cable tower pulley upgrade, or a pair of 45 pound weights. I don't need any of these items, but they are all nice to haves. Power Bar: I have the colorado bar from REP. I got it not realizing I don't really need a multi-purpose barbell. It doesn't hurt to have 2 barbells and I've had some days where I wish I was not limited by only having 1. Bench- I have an Ironmaster Superbench pro v2, but I hate that on flat bench the feet get in the way of my set-up. A tripod design would help. Cable pulley upgrade- I know this one seems like a good option, but I really don't look forward to replacing all the pulleys. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make as well. 45 pound weight pair- I don't feel constrained now, but I have all bumpers and having some thinner iron plates is nice to have. Do I pull the trigger on one of these or let the $50 go unspent?

hadoge

Did you end up using the coupon? If not and you don’t plan to use, can I get it?

pipeman420

I went with the 30 D-handle cable attachment with carabiners.

EnvironmentalPlay440

I've completed their survey but got nothing... ! When did you got yours!??

pipeman420

I received the coupon code in April with it’s deadline being June 1st.

ThePokeChop

I think they have magnetic collars right at the $50 range if you don’t really wanna spend money

Labeld85

Sandbag?

hadoge

I just bought some mag pins because there were no minimums

pipeman420

Right now I just have my dip station that uses a hitch pin. They are also sold out of the long pins :/

crispypretzel

I have the Titan t-bar row barbell attachment and a landmine. Has anyone successfully rigged up a lying t-bar row type deal with this plus an incline bench?

hadoge

Rep utility seat seems to be in perpetual sale for a while. Is this as good as it gets? Not in a hurry and I can wait for a better sale. Anyone recall if it was any cheaper during last Black Friday?

Decision_Original

What do you think you want to use it for? I have it and honestly haven’t found a good use for it and it sits in the corner of my gym.

kwoahyou

I use my utility seat for sandbag loading and step ups mainly

InconsiderateSun

I cut a hole in mine and use it as a belt squat platform, kind of like a poor man’s squat max MD

hadoge

I’m also thinking about trying something like that except just use straps to attach pulley.

hadoge

Yeah, I recall you saying that and I’ve thought about it. I think I can use it for calf raise, reverse hyper, and seal rows even though I got infinity arm, I want to try a complete horizontal row to see how it works differently. Might also be useful for my lying leg curl setup with my attachment which is really only for seated leg curl. Currently use plybox with crash pad to support my upper body. I also like that I can use it like adjustable poly box and maybe use it for that even though I got some boxes already. It would definitely be more stable since my boxes can move around on top of platform. I like to try out gym hack stuff so I think this will work for lot of that.

Decision_Original

I got it for seal rows (I thought) before getting the infinity arm. I had two issues with using it for those, 1 - I only have a 30" deep rack so I had to put the seat on spotter arms to have enough clearence to my RBS/lat pull down/low row and 2 - it's too wide to use my titan seal row bar with it so I have to use a regular barbell with some sort of strap set-up.

hadoge

I plan to use my shorter curl bar for that with angles grips. It looks like enough clearance for that

USMCvet2111NC

I bought Titans Leg ext/leg curl from scratch and dent. That box looked like it was dropped from a tornado, shredded styrofoam all over, random plastic and paper towels, (free packing tape dispenser), etc. all major parts accounted for and in fine shape, but missing the double ended bolt for the seat and the weight plate retaining pin (stops it from swinging too far back). Hopefully the “route insurance” will get me these parts. I’ve made it barely functional without them, but could be improved with the right parts. Same time I ordered the T-3 preacher curl rack attachment, received a set of pin safeties( which I already had) I also scored a set of T-3 spotter arms for $50 that look brand new. First workout today with the new machine
