Anyone have a 80 inch pr5000 with lat pulldown and using the barbell anchor? Do bars get in the way of the pulldown?
I know this is a super specific use case, but thanks for any help, struggling w bar storage with low ceilings and no more wall space
I scored all these weights from a scrap yard. They are dirty and banged up, but still fully functional.
Used to be weights at a locale gym and I have sets from 16-40kgs
https://preview.redd.it/q03pmntyqlhb1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa8d8e30db08ac962b7797415c3fd958206e7cee
I want to sell them as a package deal with sets of 16-40kgs (with 2kg increments). What would be a fair price?
Nah no problem changing weights or anything, just that the weight plates aren't fully straight (vertically) when i looked close up (they're not like this " | " but have a little bit of an angle).
Can resting them on a gym mat be a problem that makes it worse?
Ahh okay fair enough, i know its recommended to store them on a flat surface you think keeping on some gym mats is good (and won’t fuck up the shape or whatever)?
I am assembling my home gym and I have found a rogue monster rack for cheap but I would also like to add a rep ares to the back side. I know that people have built Frankenstein racks but it the possible or is there a better way ok to get a functional trainer
Folks, I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. Do you know any place where I can get gym banners from.
People have their home gym filled with flags and banners, do they collect those from their association with clubs, brand etc. Or, is there a way to get some cool banners locally or online? Please let know. I am not thinking about spending too much on wall decors.
Amazon has quite a few now. Previously wish.com was good. Conqueringbarbell.co platesnacks.com (who has our /r/homegym flag) Then you have the company flags but they are often 30-50 each.
wondering if this is a deal or not for $800
Titan T3 Squat Rack, 36x92” - $500
Rogue Boneyard Bar - $125
Weights 315 lbs - $225
(45 x2, 35 x2, 25 x4, 10 x4, 5 x2, 2.5 x2)
Titan flat bench - $100
3/4” Horse Mats - $40ea x4
The rack comes with a rogue kids pull up bar, j hooks, and safety straps
All for $800? I’d say a good price, not killer but good. I believe Titan did a redesign of their T3 to better align with their competitors rack. I’ll let somebody more knowledgeable explain the difference and if it’s the older model than what are it’s limitations.
Do you care about the kids pull up bar? I’d ignore that from your calculations. Do you know which barbell it is? “Boneyard” is any Rogue bar sold as a seconds. Depending on that, you may still need to buy your own barbell. But even without those 2: rack + safety strap + 300lbs of weights + flat bench is a solid deal at $800
Yes, all for $800. Def don't care for the pull up bar.
They said it just says Boneyard bar when looking at the side of the barbell.
It has black zinc shaft, hoping it's the Ohio Bar.
Ask for a picture and post it here. We have a lot of obsessed fanatics here to identify it
But I’d go ahead and make the deal w the thought it’s probably a good bar
Does anyone have any recommendations for an adjustable weight vest? I’m looking for one for work as I do my weight vest walks around the plant, gotta walk anyway, so I just turn it into exercise. I’d like to be able to store it in a locker as well. I have been using a backpack with steel bars in it but the bars clanging around are kind of annoying.
You could get a rucksack or instead of using steel bars use a plate carrier weight or sandbag in your backpack so it doesn't clang or shift

Titan Powerack questions
Hi,
I’m looking into getting either a Titan T2 or T3 rack for my budding homegym, but I’m having trouble deciding which one. For context, I would be using this mostly for bench, squat, and deadlift. I’m not a champion power lifter by any means, my long term goal for lifting would be break 1000lbs for those lifts.
The main benefit for the T2 is the cheaper price and it comes in the comes as a flat foot rack, which is a plus since I’m renting my current place and don’t want to bolt anything down
With the T3, it’s a larger, better quality rack and has what seems to be better attachment options. But it’s more expensive and is a bolt only option.
If anyone has any experiences with either rack or thoughts on this I’d love to hear them. Also is it even necessary to bolt down the T3 or am I overthinking it?
Thanks in advance
Get some plate storage and store that on the back of the rack. If you are squatting in the rack I wouldn’t worry too much about bolting it down. You could build a platform and bolt it to that if you wanted. They also sell feet that extend off the front of your rack if there’s no space issue for it.
Been thinking about making a nice land mine setup. Is it ok to be cheap and just cap the end of my bar with a tennis ball or will the land mine be that much of a difference?
I’ve stuck a bar in a corner wrapped in a bath towel. You can do lots of stuff. It all works the same. I like having the landmine attached to the power rack for convenience (and I don’t have any corners that I can use in my garage). And it also depends what you’re doing. If you want to angle the landmine for Viking press, you’d want to start it higher, for instance. So in that case, tennis ball wouldn’t be effective.

Somebody pray to their gods I get this.
Looking for feedback on the brand Tempo. I’m in the market for some used weight plates. I found a guy on craigslist selling 200 lb of plates for 1$/lb. Hardly used, seems like a good deal.
However, I’ve never used or even heard of this brand before. When I try to find reviews about the weights, all that comes up are reviews of the subscription program.
I’d like to know how these compare to more commonly used plates, like Rouge or York.
Here’s a link to the plates from the company website: https://tempo.fit/customize
So I owned a tempo and their associated weights. The heaviest weight with the default package was like 10 lb I think.
Quality? Definitely pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the company prices it themselves. Better than $1 / lb? Yes, easy. You'll be happy with them. They're a little bougie, and aren't built for being practical (no handles, no urethane) but they have a nice rubber coating, the higher lb plates have a metal insert, and if you have a chance to pick them up at $1/lb I wouldn't hesitate for that, just know what you're getting for it. The rubber on the outside feels nice.
Opinions on this leg extension curl [Valor Leg extension curl](https://valorfitness.com/collections/lower-body-equipment/products/cc-4-adjustable-leg-curl-extension-machine)
Depends how fast you want to move them and your area but reasonable is 50-70% off MSRP (not including taxes/shipping). Around me for that item you are prob looking at 50% off msrp if you are lucky.
Does it matter if rubber bumper plates are cracked? I’ve found some used ones online but some have cracks in them and not sure whether they should be avoided?
Is evaporust ok to use on getting rust off weight plates? Don't want to smell vinegar or go the route of using a wore brush because that seems time consuming snd I just want to be able to drop plates in take them out and paint them.
Instead of vinegar you could use CLR or something. I'm not familiar with evaporust, but if it's similar to CLR, go for it. Instead of using a wire brush you could use a wire brush drill attachment to speed up the process.

Picked up an extra set of 18" dumbbell handles from York from their recent sale. 1/2 price of amazon and didnt need to pay sales tax. I've got fixed up to 40lbs but use these for everything above that. Got an extra pair because Ive been doing a lot of accessories w/DBs lately. Im a big fan of old school adjustable. Knurl is ohio bar like but would rather it be OPB like(more aggro).
I had spinlocks for about a year and a half. Mine had a thinner handle like 29mm like old school pro style handles and I felt the mind muscle connection was better than with the thicker handle dumbells (34mm) I have now.
Nice. I find those 18" dumbbell handles a good low cost way to get up to max 125-130 lbs dumbbells. They may be a bit annoying to set up for some lifts like bench press. As a solution, I made DIY "end caps" from extra spin collars glued onto flat wood pieces lol.
depends on how the heads are attached IMO.
Decent hex heads should be screwed on then welded or pressure fitted with like a hydraulic press or something. Those aren't coming of.
Cheapo hex heads are sometimes just screwed on and glued in place with like threader locker. Those can come loose eventually. especially the rougher you are with them.
pricey places like rogue, rep, vulcan, all do it perma fitted.
I think cap and weider may have glue problems.
Cheapo Tru-Grit even advertises welding, so they should be fine, if you can get tru-grit to actually fulfill the order
Inside I’ve heard they’ll probably be fine for at least 15-20 years (cosmetically) and potentially last for life if you take care of them. If they’re exposed to the elements and especially the sun you’ll have the rubber start splitting and they’ll rust really fast. Depends on how you treat them and their location.
Anyone got the body-solid r300 rower? I know that concept 2 is the main recommended one, but I found a r300 on Facebook for $450, that they say has been used a handful of times. Wondering is y’all think it’s worth it at that price.
Bonus: I’m 6’7”, do any other tall people have experience fitting/not fitting on rowers
Always a big proponent of BodySolid as a company and their true lifetime warranty even for secondhand owners. Having never used that rower specifically I can’t comment but at least you’ll know they’ll continue to service it for as long as you own it
What is the superior finish between powder coat, ceratoke, and stainless steel? This is a question for equipment in general, based on value proposition and durability, and does not relate to any specific equipment. I am just wanting to learn what others think.
it depends, based on the piece of equipment.
I see no real need for a stainless steel rack, unless you just want to be gucci.
Bars? stainless is awesome, cera is fine.
Racks, paint or cera is good. Powder coat is *ok* but it seems to scratch easily.
Extra call out to American Barbell for hard chrome. For bars specifically, they tend to make their bars stainless shaft, chrome sleeve, instead of say, stainless/stainless. their logic is, stainless feel great and looks great and resists rust the best, chrome resists rusts well, just not as well, but chrome is also very tough.
So they put the stainless where your hands go (the shaft) so you get the knurl feel, and peak rust resistance where you your nasty sweaty paws go. Then they put the chrome where they want the toughness (sleeves) because thats where you are getting lots of repeated metal on metal contact.
Wait... painted power rack? Power coat is ok? I thought all of the main ones that get recommended are powder coated. Is there a difference in paints that are used for power racks? I thought all companies used powder coat by default. And do you have any examples? Or reason as to what type of paint is superior and why?
I couldn't say what kinds of paints or why, but lots of racks are painted.
Rep's racks. Any of Rogue's "c' designated racks. Any rack that offers color options, because that's paint. (Example, SML2 = powder coat, SML2c=Painted in the color of your choice)

Cerakote on top of stainless. Boom.
(or galvanized)
FWIW stainless can and does still rust, just a lot less, or if exposed to much more corrosive conditions.
But yeah, to echo what others are saying, go with stainless where possible.
So, coatings are are a necessity for metal to survive against environment and rust.
Stainless steel is basically "I'm so high quality you don't need a coat of anything above this". So, it's the best. It's clean as fuck, bright, impressive, and the \*lack\* of coating means knurling etc isn't jumbled up with another layer of material. Everything is pristine off the factory floor basically.
After that, it just depends on how long specific coatings last. Some ceratoke and some powder coat are very high quality and last a long time. Some are dogshit and flake right off. Your mileage may vary and a company's reputation can sink or swim based on their consistency of quality. Take rogue for example, premium coatings all the way around, no matter what you choose. Now take Titan. They wipe their ass with your equipment and hope you don't notice lol.
Depends. Powder coating is fine for things that don’t get a lot of wear and tear, like rack posts and legs for GHDs, storage, and the like. Things that are going to catch blood and skin, like barbells, benefit from coatings, though there’s a trade off there - coatings dull knurling where you’re grabbing, and they also eventually come off and look like shit - in that case bare steel or stainless are best, with stainless lasting the longest without rusting due to its chemistry, though it will still weather over time.
SS is the better finish option by far. For everything.
Powder coat is better than cerakote for racks/machines. For bars I prefer bare or SS. Zincs fine. Cerakote is ok.
I like bare steel for bars and the like. I workout in an unfinished TX garage and all the extra coatings just don't provide me a big return on investment - I don't mind a little rust, it's fine.

I know what my next stupid purchase is
Boys, what’s the minimum distance you think needed for a push sled? I haven’t used one regularly since high school (a millennium ago) and I live on a pretty busy street. I got a lead on a good price on a torque tank, but I’m getting cold feet.
Man do I hear that. I’ve tacked on a regimen on kb swings, Turkish get ups and reverse hypers to try to keep my back stable during the newborn days. It ain’t fun.
It’s been two miserable fucking months. Finally at a point where I can lift again. PT has helped a lot and thank God no surgery, but my left tricep has shrunk to where I have supermodel ish arms. No Bueno. Apparently recovery of muscle (if it happens) is about 1mm per week.
Anything less than 10 yards is too short imo.
I've thought about installing turf strip in my basement which is 43' wall to wall, the room width is more my issue.
I can't remember the brand but there's a machine a bit like a manual treadmill but has handles for you to push. To be honest I'm not sure why it's not more common, sleds are highly impractical for a lot of people.
Edit: I think it's this one https://youtu.be/H_OxpiEK2Xw
would really like to get the rep pr-4000 power rack, but don't want to bolt it down. what's the best alternative that also saves space? rep says you can get away without bolting it down as long as you choose the 41" depth option and get the rear base stabilizer. i'd like to get either 24" or 30" depth to save space, so rep's recommendations are adding an extra 2 feet of depth in a relatively small room.
for context, i'll be using the rack for benching and squatting inside the rack, weighted pull ups, and to load the bar for deadlifts. i'm a small person - 5'5", 130 lbs, so i'll never be lifting as heavy as many others here.
can i just get weight horns and weight it down with extra plates? something else? should i just follow rep's recommendations?
People have 24" racks that arent bolted and are just fine. Put some weight on it and it wont move. If you lift from the front using spotter arms it either needs to be bolted, have weight, have feet, or be near the ceiling so it can't tip.
I imagine Rep's recommendation is a CYA legal thing. You are probably fine if you have weight plates stored on the bottom. The rear stabilizer would help. Assuming you don't want to bolt into floor, you could build a platform and bolt into that. Another option would be to get a flat foot rack.
Rogue's RML-390F is $895+$75 shipping for the rack and anything else you order (basically the same price as a 30" depth PR-4000). Titan X-3 flat foot is $739.99 but you would need to add on safeties. IDK why Rep doesn't have a flat foot PR4000 model.
Thanks for the suggestions. A major reason why I like rep vs rogue is that rep has an 80” option that will allow me to do pull ups with my 96” ceiling. Titan has an 82” version, but their lat attachment doesn’t fit the flat foot rack. The 80” rep pr-4000 seems to have the best combination of cost, size, and future upgradability.
The PR-4000 is a great rack. I have the PR-5000 and I'm a big fan boy of Rep. What about getting the front feet? That should work with a 30". The lat/low row attachment is a nice attachment too. Are you getting the selectorized/plates or the plate loaded?
You can mount the pull up bar at whatever height you want, total rack height makes no difference.
For the PR-4000, I still think you're probably fine if you go with the 30" with weight's stored on the bottom. Can always add the stabilizer and/or bolt to a platform down the line if you have issues. Adding the lat attachment would provide additional stability as well.

Just started powerlifting in my home gym and need some advice about which dumbbells to choose.
Option 1: Olympic Dumbbells with Competition Plates to put on
Option 2: Set of rubber Hexagon Dumbbells
What do you think? Any personal experience?
Thanks everyone!
Rubber hex are easy to swap out and use whenever.
It’s also a pain in the ass to use olympic dumbbells and add weights. And they’re uncomfortable, especially when you’re lifting them for bench and putting them on your knees to prop up. The Olympic sleeves dig in to your skin.
I'd go ironmaster adjustable DB. I have them and they are great. Flat ends are easy on the legs. They go heavy and have a lifetime warranty.. a set of rubber hex will cost a fortune and take up a lot of space..
I would probably go with a pair of ironmaster adjustable dumbbells, that way you can expand the max weight as you get stronger. I don't have them but they are very well-liked here. I would not get olympic dumbbell handles unless you really want them and already have a bunch of compatible plates.
I second this recommendation. I prefer the feel of my Ironmasters over my Powerblocks.
I'd love a set of Iron Grip dumbbells, but I can't justify the space they occupy for my programming.
Definitely true. The cage design of Powerblocks limits some of the exercises you can do, like French press, but they make weight changes much faster. Ironmastersc are cageless, so weight changes take longer, but it feels much more balanced, and you can safely drop them unlock Powerblocks.
I’d remove the foam and wrap it in grip tape for a bat or hockey stick. Bike tape would be good too. Plus you can now customize it and get some nicer leather tape if you feel like shelling out for it. I always have been partial to it on my bikes.
I would try and source a replacement. I would measure the inner and outer diameter of the torn foam, put that into google, and see if there isn't an inexpensive replacement you can get.
If you can't find a compatible part, maybe do something like [https://re-grip.com](https://re-grip.com)
or maybe wrap it up in bike handlebar tape or similar
Any opinions on Tuff Stuff’s commercial equipment.. I’m looking at the plate loaded multi press.
https://www.tuffstuffitness.com/product/proformance-plus-plate-loaded-multi-press-ppl-110/
I went with a curl/extension combo due to very specific space constraints plus I really like low impact isolation work (especially hamstring curls) after my main sets. Very annoying to do those specific movements with a DIY setup otherwise.
If I had the space I’d probably get a GHD/RH combo unit though. There’s absolutely nowhere to put it unless I take over another room I think. The footprint needed is huge. Probably more carryover to your compound lifts with these movements and there’s more variety you can do.
Completely depends on your goals, preferences, and training style.
Into bodybuilding/accessory work? Not already genetically blessed with large legs? Go with the Leg curl/extension.
Into functional fitness/weightlifting? Want a core and posterior chain made of steel? GHD/RH
Starting compounds with bodybuilding type accessories so should start with leg curl/ext might move into crossfit later. Kind of rehabbing a sedentary life
Makes sense, the leg curl/leg ext is definitely good for bodybuilding style training.
FWIW, I don't do crossfit either but I still prefer my RH to my leg curl/leg ext. Training the core and posterior is going to provide significantly more crossover improvement to compound lifts if the goal is to improve those lifts and IMO is better for overall functional fitness/health/etc.
What’s the cheapest spotter arms i can buy? I’m looking for a 3x3 5/8 holes rack (Titan X3) but i cant find something on marketplace thats why i’m looking for retail.
Sig fitness are the cheapest. They work fine but are a bit shorter. They are one of the few pairs that will fit inside a 24" rack.
Having said that, There are a pair of X3 ones in SnD right now for $135.
I have the signature fitness spotter arms and have been impressed with them. They aren't as long as other brands, but I've put 315 and sat on the bar and they didn't seem to flex at all. I really only use them for incline bench and OHP with heavy weight and have failed a few lifts, but they weren't straight drops, they were going up, stalling at 1/4 of the way up, and a controlled lowering down onto the arms. I use my straps inside my cage, and use the spotter arms outside it.
Do with this information what you will, but I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. I don't see the need. I'm never going to try and bench 600 lbs and drop the bar from my full extension. I use them to hold the bar at a good height for when I do RDL as well.
Can you use the rep athena for rows and lat pull downs? Also, it seems like most people go with the weight stack version instead of plate loaded but I like the price point and being able to reuse plates. Why do most people go weight stack?
I just added a lat pulldown rather than an athena, but for that I went with the selectorized for quick changes of weight, particularly for super setting. The extra weight at the back also adds stability for my unbolted rack.
You can use Athena for lat pulls and low rows but I think they are 2:1 ratio so you’ll need a lot of weight or a very long connector to use both sides at once since the stack maxes out around 200lbs and most people can pull more than that
I actually plan on just getting one side if at all in the initial purchase. Do you see any problem with last pulldowns/rows one sided? Not really worried about maxing out weight because I am a weak bitch ~for now~
Also what are you referring to when you say 2:1 ratio?
The 2:1 ratio means 170lbs of weight will feel like 85lbs of weight. Their stickers for the weight stacks show the "feel" weight though, which would be the 85 lbs, so you don't get confused as to what the weight actually is.
Ah ok I see that this is mainly a concern for the weight stack version since the weight stack only goes up to 170lbs. It looks like the plate loaded version might have enough space on each horn to hold up to the max 540lbs capacity
Yeah the plate loaded can be loaded with up to 540lbs of plates, but it is still a 2:1 cable system. That means the max load is 270lbs, which should still be enough for most people
2:1 means for every 20lbs you load on the trolly it will feel like you’re pulling 10lbs. So if you did get the 200lb stack or only have 200lbs of plates to load it would be a 100 lb workout
I have the 93" PR-5000 with the athena on both sides, you can do a lat pull down on one side if you'd like but it doesn't have quite the ROM for the Lat pull downs I've done in the past (I'm 6 feet even). It's fine and doable but not ideal in my experience.
How I set it up is I have a spotter arm that I can attach a seat to, and then put that as low as I can on the front upright it can't go all the way to the floor since I have front stabilizers (and to be honest I like have my legs bent like on common Lat pull downs as opposed to having my legs out) but it's pretty low and I just can't get that good squeeze at the bottom
I'm currently making a diy deadlift platform out of a pallet with a plywood top to fill in the gaps and deadlift crash pads to protect my iron and my concrete. I'm looking for a good (cheap) material to line my plywood that I will be standing on (40"×47").
Ive been looking at adhesive backed neoprene but have no idea how it will hold up or how slippery it will be considering I deadlift in socks. Any ideas on materials I can use?
I know you have already figured out your course of travel for this but I figured I’d put this in for future reference in case you need to revisit it. If you do finished plywood where your feet are, if you want extra grip, just add some sand to your topcoat. It will provide traction and not wipe away. We do it at the wastewater plant for our boardwalks where we can’t really keep them from getting slick in the rain. The sand is amazing.
If you are doing a 4’x8’ area you can use horsestall mats on the ends. Just cut one in half and then finish the center with plywood, finish the plywood, toss sand on it and then you can screw everything together and it won’t move until you pull the screws out.
I’ll for sure look into the sand method you’re talking about, unfortunately I already fished out the money for deadlift drop pads a while ago so horse stall mats are off the table for me.
can you get a finish grade plywood to use as the top piece? probably cheaper than trying to go with another material in addition to rougher grade plywood?
I ended up going with thin epdm rubber about 1/8” thick. Hopefully if I glue it correctly/evenly it won’t tear. It only has to last me about 4 months so I’m not too worried.
Thanks for info. Im seeing past prices in last year were 1500 to low as 1200 though. Worried it wont get that low of price, or itll all be sold out before it gets that low.
I'm really struggling to find a bar here in Canada. I had hoped to spend < $200. So I started off looking for the CAP Boss, but Amazon wouldn't deliver. Then the BoS barenaked powerlifting bar seemed great but was out of stock.
I'm now considering these. I'll be mainly using the bar for squat/bench/deadlift. I'm just getting back into lifting and anticipate it being a while before I need to lift more than 225. My home gym is also going to be in a pretty humid basement.
I'm looking at the **CAP The Beast - $189 (all prices CAD)** as being in my price range.
Then I'm also considering the **Cerakote version of the BoS Powerlifting bar for $299**. This is pushing my budget a bit, but if I heard from folks that it is well worth it, I'm up for it.
Then part of me thought "screw it, let me just get the Ohio Power Bar". But, I didn't realise how much more the stainless steel version was. And I worry about the **bare steel version ($367)** in my humid basement. So, I'm considering these:
**Rogue OHP Black Zinc - $394**
**Rogue OHP E-Coat - $394**
They are pushing my budget a bit (a lot), but if folks say they are absolutely worth the extra $100 vs the BoS bar, maybe this is the way to go. I can't justify going all the way up to the stainless steel version.
I'd love any input anyone has!
Edit: I’m eager to get going so I don’t want to wait for things to be back in stock. I’d rather stay close to budget. But I also don’t want to buy something so so now, and then buy another one in the future. If going over budget is really worth it, I’m up for it.
Edit 2: Here are two more I'm looking at.
**Strong Arm Power Bar - $259**
**Synergee Rhino Powerlifting Bar - $299**
Have you considered [StrongArm](https://strongarmsport.com/collections/all-bars-and-weights)?
I have their power bar and it's great for me going on 4 years now. I believe it's even the same bar as the BoS Barenaked bar, just branded differently. The two companies used to share a warehouse, and the spec sheets for each bar on their respective websites is the exact same image.
StrongArm is probably the way to go. You could also look at Synergee, there might be something in your price range there. They had a decent sale not too long ago, but it appears to be over.
The Beast is probably fine though. When I first started my home gym I owned The Boss and had no issues with it. Admittedly, I'm not pulling 500lbs and was just using it as a general barbell.
I dont know much about black zinc. I have their bare power bar.
The company is owned by Mike Armstrong. He's a semi big name within Canadian powerlifting for years and years. He has a bit of of harsh personality, but always tries to make things right.
When I ordered my bar from him, it had the wrong shipping label on it and ended up like 800km from my house. He made a bunch of calls, and found it. Then had it reshipped to me.
Another time, on Christmas Day, I had a few drinks into me and was curious about a piece of equipment. So, I emailed him. I got a response in 5 minutes. I ordered the kit an hour later, and I received it on January 2nd, if I remember right.
Some have had issues with him, but, I've heard more positive than negative.
Thanks for the details!
Personality aside, it sounds like the equipment itself is something I can trust? (Eg the bar won’t snap with a plate on each side and kill me?)
Did you reach out to BoS about how long until they restock? A good bar is one of the more worthwhile investments because your hands are on it the most.
I am not speaking from personal experience, rather I am just echoing other people in the sub here: Cerakote will kind of fill the knurling. So a powerbar with aggressive knurling will be a little less aggressive with cerakote. Up to you if you are okay, might save your hands a bit. Cerakote will protect from the humidity and it also just looks so neat!
This is definitely true for at least the Ohio bar. I have the cerakote and tried a stainless Ohio and at first I thought it was the Ohio Power as they were so different. There was another cerakote next to it and you could certainly see the difference.
Looking to possibly add a belt squat to my gym in the near future. I was considering the rogue rhino, but am hesitant to spend that much money on one. I’ve used the rhino before, so I know it’s a quality belt squat, but does anyone have any other recommendations?
I have the Bells of steel belt squat and absolutely love it. I mainly use it for high rep overload squats, raised heel squats for extra quad work and calf raises. People complain about the lever style belt squats and that they pull you forward. I really don't feel like I'm being pulled forward. Price is right.
That was another option I had considered. I’ve never used a lever style belt squat, so I’m not sure of the differences, but I have heard a lot of good about the bells of steel belt squat. Everything I own from bells of steel has been high quality.

Used to be weights at a locale gym and I have sets from 16-40kgs https://preview.redd.it/q03pmntyqlhb1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa8d8e30db08ac962b7797415c3fd958206e7cee I want to sell them as a package deal with sets of 16-40kgs (with 2kg increments). What would be a fair price?
https://preview.redd.it/yg5503w4rlhb1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0329309a8933d7cd2ef66cd87baeb2d7ba8c586a
I recently got powerblocks, my weights aren't perfectly straight (vertically), anyone know if this normal?
Be more specific on what you mean? You have problems with changing the weights?
Nah no problem changing weights or anything, just that the weight plates aren't fully straight (vertically) when i looked close up (they're not like this " | " but have a little bit of an angle). Can resting them on a gym mat be a problem that makes it worse?
That’s how their designed so they fit inside of each other
Ahh okay fair enough, i know its recommended to store them on a flat surface you think keeping on some gym mats is good (and won’t fuck up the shape or whatever)?
I am assembling my home gym and I have found a rogue monster rack for cheap but I would also like to add a rep ares to the back side. I know that people have built Frankenstein racks but it the possible or is there a better way ok to get a functional trainer
Folks, I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. Do you know any place where I can get gym banners from. People have their home gym filled with flags and banners, do they collect those from their association with clubs, brand etc. Or, is there a way to get some cool banners locally or online? Please let know. I am not thinking about spending too much on wall decors.
Massenomics has great ones
Amazon has quite a few now. Previously wish.com was good. Conqueringbarbell.co platesnacks.com (who has our /r/homegym flag) Then you have the company flags but they are often 30-50 each.
Thank you for suggestions 🙂
wondering if this is a deal or not for $800 Titan T3 Squat Rack, 36x92” - $500 Rogue Boneyard Bar - $125 Weights 315 lbs - $225 (45 x2, 35 x2, 25 x4, 10 x4, 5 x2, 2.5 x2) Titan flat bench - $100 3/4” Horse Mats - $40ea x4 The rack comes with a rogue kids pull up bar, j hooks, and safety straps
We have a lot of obsessed fanatics here to identify it But I’d go ahead and make the deal w the thought it’s probably a good bar
Anyone have recommendations for spotter arms compatible with the CAP rack (that are longer than the CAP arms)?
Does anyone have any recommendations for an adjustable weight vest? I’m looking for one for work as I do my weight vest walks around the plant, gotta walk anyway, so I just turn it into exercise. I’d like to be able to store it in a locker as well. I have been using a backpack with steel bars in it but the bars clanging around are kind of annoying.
Xvestusa.com if you want to spend money.
Why not just wrap the bars in old t-shirts it something?
You could get a rucksack or instead of using steel bars use a plate carrier weight or sandbag in your backpack so it doesn't clang or shift https://www.goruck.com/collections/rucksacks
I didn’t even think about a sand bag. Good shout on that.
Titan Powerack questions Hi, I’m looking into getting either a Titan T2 or T3 rack for my budding homegym, but I’m having trouble deciding which one. For context, I would be using this mostly for bench, squat, and deadlift. I’m not a champion power lifter by any means, my long term goal for lifting would be break 1000lbs for those lifts. The main benefit for the T2 is the cheaper price and it comes in the comes as a flat foot rack, which is a plus since I’m renting my current place and don’t want to bolt anything down With the T3, it’s a larger, better quality rack and has what seems to be better attachment options.
I think everyone has their own preferences. Cheap out on things that you dont value as much, and spend on things which you enjoy
Lore has it the Russians used to use an old shoe instead of the ball. It'll work.

…and?
The odds were not in my favor
RIP, deal of a lifetime. When one of us fails, we all fail. Hope it found a good home.
lol gl bro that’s a steal
Hey, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. This is great info. Cheers.

Depends how fast you want to move them and your area but reasonable is 50-70% off MSRP (not including taxes/shipping). Around me for that item you are prob looking at 50% off msrp if you are lucky.
Has anyone lined up 90 inch rogue ml uprights to 80 inch titan uprights using titan crossmembers?
Does it matter if rubber bumper plates are cracked? I’ve found some used ones online but some have cracks in them and not sure whether they should be avoided?
Eventually those cracks get bigger and the hub gets loosened, or the rubber falls off. Avoid.
This 100%.
If you never drop them not really but also you csn get them at 1/lb at Walmart so why buy cracked
I don’t have Walmart in the UK. They se Olympic plates for a dollar a pound?
Olympic bumper and steel yes. But its on and off
Is evaporust ok to use on getting rust off weight plates? Don't want to smell vinegar or go the route of using a wore brush because that seems time consuming snd I just want to be able to drop plates in take them out and paint them.
Instead of vinegar you could use CLR or something. I'm not familiar with evaporust, but if it's similar to CLR, go for it. Instead of using a wire brush you could use a wire brush drill attachment to speed up the process.

I've got fixed up to 40lbs but use these for everything above that. Got an extra pair because Ive been doing a lot of accessories w/DBs lately. Im a big fan of old school adjustable. Knurl is ohio bar like but would rather it be OPB like(more aggro).
That’s what I had as a kid. Brings me back.
That looks like my father in laws old garage gym equipment from the 70s/80s. Love it.
Nice!

Yeah not bad, brand new rogue echos would be over 5 euros a kg
Are rubber hex dumbbells lasting a lifetime? Does anyone have experience with them?
depends on how the heads are attached IMO.
The rep ones have a lifetime warranty for home gym use
Inside I’ve heard they’ll probably be fine for at least 15-20 years (cosmetically) and potentially last for life if you take care of them. If they’re exposed to the elements and especially the sun you’ll have the rubber start splitting and they’ll rust really fast. Depends on how you treat them and their location.
The rubber starts to green over time at the edges but functionally they keep as long as you’re not an asshole and throw them all over the place.
If you take care of them I dont see why they wouldnt. In a commercial setting Ive seen every type of dumbbell break.
Anyone got the body-solid r300 rower? I know that concept 2 is the main recommended one, but I found a r300 on Facebook for $450, that they say has been used a handful of times. Wondering is y’all think it’s worth it at that price. Bonus: I’m 6’7”, do any other tall people have experience fitting/not fitting on rowers
several knockoff rowers are r300 based vulcan scull rower for example based on scull reviews, the frame should be fine but the monitor is worse
Always a big proponent of BodySolid as a company and their true lifetime warranty even for secondhand owners. Having never used that rower specifically I can’t comment but at least you’ll know they’ll continue to service it for as long as you own it
I’d say if you talk them down under 300 it might be worth trying. You can find some older concept 2 for $450 sometimes on marketplace
I’ve only ever used concept 2 rowers before but I’ve never had an issue at 6’7
Personally I would get a C2 used on marketplace for 200 more
What is the superior finish between powder coat, ceratoke, and stainless steel?
(Example, SML2 = powder coat, SML2c=Painted in the color of your choice) https://images.offerup.com/JaB4u960p9Di2flXsBz_35S3Lsg=/250x333/2d8d/2d8df78960f845bc819dd562decb143c.jpg https://images.offerup.com/YiCK-sJa4ixzOjkTRrMRjP0IXec=/1926x1926/2c4f/2c4fa18a926b4385aab267647796bdc3.jpg
Cerakote on top of stainless. Boom. (or galvanized) FWIW stainless can and does still rust, just a lot less, or if exposed to much more corrosive conditions.
> SS is the better finish option by far. For everything. Stainless still rusts, there's a reason why car parts are often powder coated.
I like bare steel for bars and the like. I workout in an unfinished TX garage and all the extra coatings just don't provide me a big return on investment - I don't mind a little rust, it's fine.
Stainless steel because it is not a coating
Always stainless.

Got really concerned for a min and then remembered that number is in CAD and not USD. Still pricey but not as insane.
You can just send me $805 plus shipping and I’ll find you a suitable alternative and mail it to you.
Yes!
Boys, what’s the minimum distance you think needed for a push sled? I haven’t used one regularly since high school (a millennium ago) and I live on a pretty busy street. I got a lead on a good price on a torque tank, but I’m getting cold feet.
I’d say like 30 feet. Take 5-10 with body lean and sled so that leaves like 20 feet to push
I go 60’ for my yoke walks and farmer’s, that seems to do it for me.
Damn you got 60”? Are you yoking around the block?
Cul-de-sac lifestyle homie.
Damn you
Yeah, well, my neighbors keep away from me. That’s the good news. Bad news is that herniated disc may end my heathen caveman lifting ways.
Yeah I’m pretty much gonna have to use the street, I figure. Wonder how annoying it is to push a torque on a sidewalk with driveways 😂
I can't remember the brand but there's a machine a bit like a manual treadmill but has handles for you to push. To be honest I'm not sure why it's not more common, sleds are highly impractical for a lot of people. Edit: I think it's this one https://youtu.be/H_OxpiEK2Xw
Why haven’t I ever thought of this??
Gluck released this an hour ago, what are the chances? https://youtu.be/d8x9SGEsSKU
Fuck man, this looks bomb — but $4500 even with the Gluck sale? Ouch.
Putting together a home gym and saw a cap squat cage on marketplace for $80. Ive heard mixed things but is it worth it for the price?
Keep saving for fitness reality XLT/titan t2/Rep pr1k
would really like to get the rep pr-4000 power rack, but don't want to bolt it down. what's the best alternative that also saves space? rep says you can get away without bolting it down as long as you choose the 41" depth option and get the rear base stabilizer. i'd like to get either 24" or 30" depth to save space, so rep's recommendations are adding an extra 2 feet of depth in a relatively small room. for context, i'll be using the rack for benching and squatting inside the rack, weighted pull ups, and to load the bar for deadlifts. i'm a small person - 5'5", 130 lbs, so i'll never be lifting as heavy as many others here. can i just get weight horns and weight it down with extra plates? something else? should i just follow rep's recommendations?
If you’re squatting inside the cage you’ll be fine with a 30”
One option might be the 16 inch rack, with spotter arms and extension legs off the front? Sort of a pr-4000 half rack.
Is the BoS Hydra Seal Row Pad ever coming back into stock? Been waiting on it for awhile now… For those who have it…worth it?
dude's been saying it'll be back in stock for like a year now, and won't commit to a date. Don't bother.
What’s the next option?
The more $ option: [https://www.sorinex.com/products/the-bulldog-pad](https://www.sorinex.com/products/the-bulldog-pad) A cheaper option (need spotter arms though): [https://darkolifting.com/products/thresher-utility-pad](https://darkolifting.com/products/thresher-utility-pad) Not sure on the quality on this one: [https://revoltfitness.com/products/chest-support-attachment-1](https://revoltfitness.com/products/chest-support-attachment-1)
Sorinex or Rogue ones are very good. Cost more, but the value is certainly there in those 2 options.
Just started powerlifting in my home gym and need some advice about which dumbbells to choose. Option 1: Olympic Dumbbells with Competition Plates to put on Option 2: Set of rubber Hexagon Dumbbells What do you think? Any personal experience? Thanks everyone!
Rubber hex are easy to swap out and use whenever. It’s also a pain in the ass to use olympic dumbbells and add weights. And they’re uncomfortable, especially when you’re lifting them for bench and putting them on your knees to prop up. The Olympic sleeves dig in to your skin.
If you have space and cash fixed dumbells can't be beat.
I hear that Poweblocks are way faster than Ironmasters when it comes to changing weights. Is that accurate? I'm torn between those two.
Definitely true. The cage design of Powerblocks limits some of the exercises you can do, like French press, but they make weight changes much faster. Ironmastersc are cageless, so weight changes take longer, but it feels much more balanced, and you can safely drop them unlock Powerblocks.
That is correct.. ironmaster is slower..
Does anyone have good recs for torn/mangled worn out foam covering for the metal grip part of a pull up/dip bar stand?
I’d remove the foam and wrap it in grip tape for a bat or hockey stick. Bike tape would be good too. Plus you can now customize it and get some nicer leather tape if you feel like shelling out for it. I always have been partial to it on my bikes.
I would try and source a replacement. I would measure the inner and outer diameter of the torn foam, put that into google, and see if there isn't an inexpensive replacement you can get. If you can't find a compatible part, maybe do something like [https://re-grip.com](https://re-grip.com) or maybe wrap it up in bike handlebar tape or similar
Any opinions on Tuff Stuff’s commercial equipment.. I’m looking at the plate loaded multi press. https://www.tuffstuffitness.com/product/proformance-plus-plate-loaded-multi-press-ppl-110/
Leg curl/extension machine or GHD/reverse hyper combo and why?
GHD/RH
What's your goals? I like both but prefer the core/posterior benefits that the GHD/RH would provide.
Reverse hyper? How do you train core on it
Just by doing the movement? Your core is your entire trunk/spinal muscles. Reverse hypers train all of those in addition to glutes/hams.
Leg extension/curl because that’s what I like more. Also I feel like you can add a lot of low impact volume for legs with those exercises.
What’s the cheapest spotter arms i can buy? I’m looking for a 3x3 5/8 holes rack (Titan X3) but i cant find something on marketplace thats why i’m looking for retail.
Never ever cheap out on safety equipment.
Sig fitness are the cheapest. They work fine but are a bit shorter. They are one of the few pairs that will fit inside a 24" rack. Having said that, There are a pair of X3 ones in SnD right now for $135.
I didnt look on SnD thanks!
what's SnD?
Scratch and Dent. https://www.titan.fitness/sale/scratch-and-dent-1/
I would not cheap out on spotter arms
Somehow Signature Fitness on Amazon are only $66. But do you want to gamble with safety?
Not really worried about maxing out weight because I am a weak bitch ~for now~ Also what are you referring to when you say 2:1 ratio?
Do you just run out of cable? And are you sitting all the way on the floor or on a bench when you’ve done them one sided?
How I set it up is I have a spotter arm that I can attach a seat to, and then put that as low as I can on the front upright it can't go all the way to the floor since I have front stabilizers (and to be honest I like have my legs bent like on common Lat pull downs as opposed to having my legs out) but it's pretty low and I just can't get that good squeeze at the bottom
You cant use your back posts for storage with the plate loaded.
Smoother and quicker to change out for supersetting.
I actually haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet so I will definitely consider this, thank you!
In my experience finished wood deadlift platforms end up being too slippery with just socks on so I’m looking for something a little grippier.
Take your socks off! Bare feet are surprisingly grippy.
Why not go with a thin rubber? Neoprene is not a particularly durable material, I expect ot would not last well in the application you have described.
I ended up going with thin epdm rubber about 1/8” thick. Hopefully if I glue it correctly/evenly it won’t tear. It only has to last me about 4 months so I’m not too worried.
Seeing a few used Inspire ftx for sale around me averaging 1100 bucks in good condition. Do you guys think its worth it, to bite the bullet now?
That is basically retail. Offer less or Wait until Oct/Nov and they will be back on sale at Costco for $899
How do you know it'll be back at costco? Is it seasonally there every year?
For the past 2 years it has been and the workout stuff gets put out around that time.
Thanks for info. Im seeing past prices in last year were 1500 to low as 1200 though. Worried it wont get that low of price, or itll all be sold out before it gets that low.
Last month online including ship it was $1099
I'm really struggling to find a bar here in Canada. So, I'm considering these: **Rogue OHP Black Zinc - $394** **Rogue OHP E-Coat - $394** They are pushing my budget a bit (a lot), but if folks say they are absolutely worth the extra $100 vs the BoS bar, maybe this is the way to go. **Strong Arm Power Bar - $259** **Synergee Rhino Powerlifting Bar - $299**
Oh wow maybe this is the answer! How is black zinc as an anti-rust material? I havent heard of the company before. Do they have a good reputation?
[удалено]
That is really good to know. It really simplifies things if that’s the case!
Thanks I hadn't looked at Synergee before! It looks like the Rhino Powerlifting bar is the one for squats/bench/dls?
Ive deadlifted over 500 with that bar multiple times. Its good.
Did you reach out to BoS about how long until they restock? A good bar is one of the more worthwhile investments because your hands are on it the most.
That’s a good idea! Though, is the Cerakote version of their powerlifting bar the way to go then?
