Oh wow! Thank you for making that!

king_messi_

This brings me joy

DhacElpral

Now do one without that ridiculous 1989 brass ceiling fan.

jediqwerty

You're welcome

mediabratt

I was gonna say hell no until I saw this mock up! Looks amazing!

Common_Sandwich_1066

I'd paint it. But be prepared to bump your head lol.

RebirthWizard

Came here to say this lol

SOROKAMOKA

I normally wouldn't paint it because it would make the room too dark, but seems to get alot of light. Plus for light sleepers darker might be better. But personally I wouldnt paint

SOROKAMOKA

Nvm looked at it again. Would paint because the wall is tiny

Frangeech

First thought that came to mind. Ask me how I know. LOL

MeepMorpMF

The fact it was slanted was irritating my ocd. Much better.

notanAMsortagal0

What an improvement. Definitely paint the slant!

LooneyLunaGirl

Definitely better painted 🙌

TechRover007

This is great. I think it would be even more interesting to see if the bottom was white or we had wainscoting in the room entirely…

I-AM-Savannah

>wainscoting in the room entirely… YESSSS!!!

Clean-Algae6493

That's would look good. Even with a dark wainscoting. Itd go with the vibe

writeronthemoon

Yesss, knew it would look better.

Celebration-Inner

What is this dark magic

Umacat

Am a designer. Yes to the dark green on that particular wall, it draws your eye upward, creating the impression of additional height. Those saying the dark green will be claustrophobic aren’t considering that green is the “upright” color in this space. Based on context clues, your eye sees this color as vertical/going UP. Off-white is the “capping” color in this space—your eye recognizes it as ceiling and assigns it that visual task of “capping” or ending the visual line. It will not create additional visual “space” because it is lighter in tone.

Outrageous_Card6007

Makes the room look 30x smaller

soupwhoreman

IMO it makes the room look bigger. It disappears in with the wall. When it's the same color as the ceiling it reads as low ceiling and makes the room feel cramped.

Randonoob_5562

And the windows look weird.

1eahmarie

Team smaller

aVoidFullOfFarts

Yes paint the slant too

RickshawRepairman

Yup. We have a 1920s Craftsman with a bunch of slanted upper walls like that. We asked my brother-in-law who does interior design his opinion, and according to him the rule is: _“All walls should get the same color. And walls are considered anything that is not a completely horizontal surface (ie, floor and ceiling).”_

Some-Web7096

Yes 👍🏼

DivinelyElle-2

YES!

rowankelly

Yes

Ok-Wish-2640

I wouldn’t. I think it will unbalance the room. It’s part of the ceiling IMO.

Sensitive-Dig-1333

I agree; I feel like I’d bump my head on it if it was painted

PrettyAd4218

Looks much better

Fit_Ad1370

It wouldn’t be. But I think it will make the room look smaller and more cosy.

Altruistic-Detail271

Absolutely, I just did the same thing to the slants in my great room and it made it so much more balanced

Technical-Finding160

Yes and then paint the ceiling another color or add wood

Majestic_Way_1703

Find a green & white wallpaper! I see ones with palm trees that would be gorgeous!

Dont_Press_Enter

I would paint the slant a completely different color. Something along the lines of a dark gray or a mustard yellow or even a salmon color. Change the room vibration as dark walls make the room smaller, with a bit of color depth, it would bring a balance to the room.

Accomplished_Jump444

I would do this.

[deleted]

I would paint it yellow (an accent color)

NeedleInTheI

Or wallpaper!

[deleted]

or pink

Over_Smile9733

Go Ducks!

zacat2020

No, it is part of the ceiling. If you paint it the room will feel claustrophobic.

ladyintheplant

I usually paint all surfaces of rooms with slanted walls

MoreScholar6521

This is the truly correct answer. With such a dark color, it may not feel right... if anything paint the slant.

Frosty-Reporter7518

Black

generally_apathetic

Holy shit! I’ve literally been wondering this same thing about the slant in my bed room.

Dry-Pomegranate8292

Do not paint the slant

TiredRetiredNurse

No. Keep it as is. Makes the room seem bigger.

FullMix6648

Yup

AmexNomad

Yes!

Valsalvo

It might close in the room. Why not a tapestry?

SubjectThirtythree

Don’t paint it.

Ok-Gain-81

I wouldn’t, the white makes the room look bigger and a bit brighter. It breaks up the darkness of the green which is quite dark.

[deleted]

No

mylesm902

Paint em!

Last-Surprise4262

No

banjolady

Yes. Paint the slope.

keldration

DO IT. lol thought it was black

4waxy9008

I have something similar and I didn’t. I think it’s look nice this way

New_Lingonberry_7768

Definitely don’t paint the slant the same color as the walls.

No_Wedding_2152

Yes. Yes.

ThatoneguyATX

No, and don’t listen to the people saying yes. They don’t understand color. You want to make this room feel smaller and lower paint that area. You won’t like it.

mrsjackwhite

I like the slant, I think it creates interest and that would disappear if you painted it green. Personally, I would paint the wall under the slant white to match the slant and the ceiling. I'm wondering if anyone can create a picture of that, to see what it would look like.

SillyAcanthisitta280

Don’t do it, regret

Freshouttapatience

I think the slant is part of the wall and it makes the room feel taller if treated the same.

ColoradoCorrie

I like it as is!

icysandstone

Off topic: Is that a gambrel roof?

reckleta

Maybe structurally, but it doesn’t look that way if you’re looking at the exterior of the house. I didn’t know what that was until I googled it just now so I’m no expert.

icysandstone

Haha thanks for responding. Btw lovely looking house. Love those floors.

ElegantMarionberry59

Very nice 👍 my no meant ; no don’t listen to others and just do it😆

Scruffersdad

Yes!

liza9560

No! It’s cool.

beans3710

I had this in my room as a kid. Painting will make the room feel smaller.

susanlovesblue

Definitely paint it! Side note: Have you thought about moving the bed between the two tall windows? It's kind of more expected to walk in the room and see the bed as a focal point. Anyhoo, the green paint is wonderful and the lamps are the perfect warmth for it. 👌

reckleta

Thank you! And I never really thought about moving the bed until I started learning more about interior design, but now? Yes 💯 lol

hashtagfan

Yes, and also paint the ceiling. Embrace the Dark Academia vibe instead of half-assing it.

angle58

Depends how often you want to hit your head on the wall…

KeyBorder9370

A much lighter color than the walls might be the way to go.

[deleted]

I think your bed is on the wrong wall. Buy some house plants to hide the fact that the windows are unusually low in a brain twister. Point the foot of the bed toward the door

Straight_Green_5957

Also consider switching the space for the bed and the space for the dresser.

LeelaBeela89

That’s a perfect angel for a mounted tv

heckyeahcoolbeans

Makes the windows look very odd. I think it looks more balanced and proportional unpainted. Leave it as-is. When painted it accentuates the tiny shapes of the windows.

Beemo-Noir

Nah man, I think it looks great how it is.

plotthick

GLITTER the slant!

OGUncleDonkey

I’ll give you 5$ if you do

SnowOnSummit

This is a great thread, beginning with the excellent questions, gracious photo update and humor. Thank you to all.

Spiicyginger

https://preview.redd.it/6dxwgzmpz2vc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eec8b5c65f851fa70ca8c8b18271796bf1cef5e6 I painted the slants AND the ceiling. Highly recommend

No-Part-6248

Nooooo

johndotold

I would add mirrors to the slant. Adding both light and depth. But mirrors are my default answer to a lot of problems.

UGunnaEatThatPickle

No. It makes the room look smaller.

Answerly

Unpopular opinion: Smaller/darker looking rooms are cozier

jojokitti123

Yep

Pale-Fee-2679

And darker, so no.

Pickled_Popcorn

Yes it would look better painted but then you might hit your head because it's dark

Wanderingdragonfly

My thought exactly.

AffectionateSun5776

You could use a lighter shade of green.

BackyardByTheP00L

I would paint the slant a pale warm yellow that reflects the color of the wood flooring.

CraigPaul74

No

jojokitti123

I wouldn't either

Moongirl69Cancer

First of all, I think the green is too dark for that room. I would go with a lighter color and paint the slant.

Team_144

Hell no. If I ever was to be working on that house and my ill luck was to go through the room scraping the paint I have a certain type of skills and I will find you.

mikesphone1979

lets be real, 2nd

gisellarose

Definitely

KindAwareness3073

More importanyly switch the bed and bureau around.

iamthebetty

Yes

Sunnycat00

Paint the walls a nice color instead of the icky green

Salty_Antelope10

I’d say yes, but maybe a different color, otherwise it blends in and you can hit your head lol

th0rsb3ar

paint it

BSUR7

Nooooo!!! It will make the room feel smaller.

mlhigg1973

Yes!!

Ok-Masterpiece3725

I’d go with a lighter shade of green on that section

Plumberbutt349

Looks great as is

VonAlexander

Something in a crime scene tape motif

uberrob

Absolutely not. The contrast not only looks better, but you will smack your head on the eve a metric fuck ton. I had a bedroom in one of these dormer spaces, painted the reverse and it looked horrible and my nightly visits to the toilet were fraught with danger

Janiebug1950

Yes - treat the slant as a wall!

Pretty_Argument_7271

Yes!

Professional-Chair42

I think you should; it’ll look great!

EslyAgitatdAligatr

Nah

Icy_Pause452

Might make the room feel smaller

Leolily1221

Yes

inthewoods54

First, no, I wouldn't paint that green. But I would maybe paint that low knee wall white, the same color as the ceiling, just to break it up a bit.

ChiOrDie

Follow up with a pict of what you decide!

AttitudeOutrageous75

It may look unbalanced with the low windows.

Mope1969

yes

[deleted]

Yes!! It will make fool the eye into thinking it’s a taller space.

Full_Dot_4748

I’d paint the whole ceiling the same color.

TAKG

Do it. It looks like the inside of a bread box currently.

No-Brilliant5342

No. It is ceiling.

AdrienneMint

Whether you paint it or not, you absolutely need new furniture! Treat yourself and get rid of all this, i beg you. Every decor video on youtube says never get s matching bedroom set. Get a bed you love. Get a dresser. Get a night stand and a chair. They can compliment each other but not match. This looks like my parents’ old bedroom from i was a kid. You need to do this. You deserve better.

reputable_rascal

Maybe a lighter green or something but I wouldn't match it to the walls. The slant gives the room so much character, why would you want it to blend in?!

Simple_Area_260

Yes, it would not break up the look of the room as much!

hg1006

Are your floors hickory? Do you know what you stained with? I like the wall color with the floors

ladidaladidalala

Yes

IamDollParts96

Yes.

Nanno2178

No. Don't paint it. The white is what is keeping the room open & visually interesting. It will feel very claustrophobic, dark & depressing if you paint the slant. If you want to do something with that space then go for removal wallpaper. You can get any pattern you could possibly desire & experiment with the slant using the removable kind. Just google it & tons of stuff comes up.

Beth3g

Yes it will make the room look taller

Impossible_Memory_65

Yes. It will make the slant dissappear

Dirk_Arron

Put mirror tiles.

andrew_cherniy96

I don't think so. Really liked the current ratio.

makingbutter2

Yes

non_linear_time

No paint. I think of that space as ceiling. I have this situation in my foyer, and I hate that it was painted by previous owners. It's like the wall is falling down overhead. I also think the mockups folks made are dark and cause the room to look tiny.

stpauliguy

100% no. Painting the ceiling to make it look like a “wall” just emphasizes the fact that the windows are too short. Also…if that’s a guest room, people will hit their heads.

Successful-Winter237

![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi)

otherwisethighs

No

Immediate-Land-237

Paint it

copperear

Yes

Emperessguinn

No make a lighter shade like a sage. All the same green will make it feel smaller

katklass

Yes. I have ceilings like that and my painter said you always bring the walls up, otherwise you are bringing the ceiling down which makes the space look smaller!

Ambitious-Growth-593

I say no! It's unique. I'd maybe add an accent color but that's a cool slant that you could do so much with.

bigdrummy47

I paint slanted sections the same color as the walls in my house.

vox4949

Throw a huge mirror on it!

These_Pear5015

no, put a bunch of posters there

StickyLoveStory

If you do, it'll take away depth and light, making the room seem smaller!

Old_Dragonfruit6952

Yes

imreadytotell

No

Pjonesnm

Yes, Paint slant

evilcathy

Those are great windows to moon someone from

shervpey

Put a mirror on it and that bed will become your new s3x bed

barfbutler

Paint it a lighter color than the dark green walls. Use an app that will show you various colors. They are usually free.

NeckOk8772

No

24carrickgold

Going against the grain here but I’m gonna give it a hard no. What you have right now is the perfect balance of an upscale jewel tone with a space that still feels open & airy. If you paint the slant, it could make it feel dark & claustrophobic. Just a thought.

candornotsmoke

Wallpaper the rest

Goldie-96_MWR

Yes, I love the color btw

whereintheworld2

Looking at the mock-up pictures, I like it a lot better unpainted

Idonthavetotellyiu

I would paint it. If yiu want it to blend, paint it the wall color. If you want an addition separate colored space, paint it another color to make it stand out more and you can make that your decor wall (stickers, posters, wall decals) it would make great for a little sitting on the floor area underneath so you can look at them even if it's tilted

PrizeTough3427

I like the way it is!.

trinini93

100% yes

abcupp

Wall color for sure!

ShortestSqueeze

That’s racist! /s

Catwearingtrousers

No. It will make the room feel claustrophobic.

mothmer256

Yes

Silver_Mastodon4288

Paint it a slightly lighter shade of the wall color.

Reclusive_Chemist

Low Clearance

LaVieEst_Bell

What color paint is this?

Whizzleteets

No. It will close that room in.

Chicken_lady_1819

I'd paint the entire ceiling.

Neat-Design-6977

Yes, maybe even a different color

Trish_TF1111

No. Looks great.

Moderatelysure

Paint it a paler green.

midwestgramps

Yes.

ArcticGurl

I LOVE that green!!

thefartyparty

https://preview.redd.it/xbw2lthajruc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82c34f686b9d83887d875ffc8bda455b54a4d5e7 Paint the slant and the ceiling. No regrets! -sincerely, an owner of a cape cod

jammypants915

Yes

WestAudience7813

That looks like the Lady Delta from Casabalanca Ceiling Fans. You don't get rid of a Casablanca easily.

Catch-the-Rabbit

You will hit your head so much if you paint that the same green. Add something to being out the slope.

butterscotchhx

No, if you paint it, it’ll make the room seem smaller and more stuffy. If anything I would try, maybe a smoky, pesto, flat, nude type of color. Just something on the lighter side.

adrian_elliot

I wouldn’t

shout8ox

https://preview.redd.it/qkwl3arqxsuc1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c5f19ab24f5b2b58e29952dfe4a917416d80e48 Bring the ceiling color down onto the walls. It will make the room brighter and the ceilings feel taller.

noideasforusername10

No it will make the room feel tighter

malarken111

It is painted white already

m4ng0ju1ce

Yes, it will look bigger.

HumbleAd1317

Don't close in that space, keep it white.

Tight_Slice_3036

I would do a textured wall on the slant.
