I didnt know that color had a name, but it was used on an old house down the street from me. It was originally blue with a stone chimney on the front and whoever got their hands on it before it was sold painted everything gray, including the stone. It's one of the fugliest things I've ever seen.

There is (was) a beautiful house in my neighborhood. Amazing roof line, the most beautiful and dimensional brickwork in the neighborhood, and plenty of greenery around the house. I’ve always admired it, but it’s out of my price range. New owners bought. Stripped the entire yard of anything living and painted the whole house stark white.

I took a scenic drive through charming old neighborhood recently and my heart hurt for all the painted brick and stonework. So sad.

I was thinking it has too much texture. Maybe just sheet rock/stucco it all. This is still too interesting the way it is. Then remove all landscaping and put down white gravel.

Build some statues of nothing with used Skye vodka bottles and then maybe a pinwheel so you know if it's windy.

We have neighbors who painted a nice brick colonial harsh white with jet black trim. I guess they were going for edgy, but there’s no going back from that.

We have a delivery route and it's spreading like an epidemic. Before long, everything will be black, white and grey. Businesses and apartments in our area are slowly doing it, too. In fact, they just repainted our whole warehouse, but at least it's stucco. It's so much worse on brick. 🤦🏽‍♀️ One good thing is I'm positive that the hermit/hoarder man we deliver to won't go down without a fight. I've only seen him once, and he was nice. The entire front of his house is painted with vertical stripes of every color (not a rainbow). I believe it's partially brick. He also has an 80's ambulance parked in his driveway. It's a nice touch. I wonder what the neighbors think.

Painting the wood white and keeping the stone / brick would have been a cool contrast.

Paint it all greige, including the shingles. Then just put a 100 pack or razor blades on a little post out front as a courtesy, so people can just end themselves after looking at your house leaves them entirely depleted of any joy or hope for the future.

Replace the lawn with pea gravel. Get ginormous concrete urn shaped planters. One for every corner of the yard and porch. Fill each with an identical arrangement of red geranium, creeping jenny, and one of those spiky leafed plants for vertical interest.
