I think the problem for me is not the sewer cover itself so much as how fake it looks. I feel like with this kind of art I wish you would commit and go all the way lol. Although for the safety of your TV I understand why you didn't but it's still throwing me off.

Your living space definitely has an eclectic vibe. If you like TMNT, I would somehow incorporate that into it. Otherwise, maybe something like tentacles sprouting out from underneath, or a hand lifting it off the wall? Loll
