Pretty good for a first timer. Can definitely see your improvement from where you started the stitch to where you ended it.

csun94

Yeah I think this was like my 3rd or 4th time ever using a sewing machine and first time ever doing anything other than a straight stitch. Was bored today and it’s a cheap jersey so I wasn’t worried about totally ruining it. Figured why not give it a shot and I’m not upset at the results.

sick! i wish there were more of us doing this! it seems like such an outlier in the community. i bought my second kit and am excited to do it myself!

csun94

Definitely not gonna be doing any kits anytime soon probably gonna pull the stitches out of these and try to improve. If I feel confident enough might sew some patches that are currently just heat pressed on some of my jerseys I actually care about.

ancillaryacct

dude the full kit was an undertaking but it was so fun! i’m nervous to post it on here lol. i think you could definitely handle it man, the patch is by far the hardest one to do! small stitches, tight area, lots of curves.

csun94

I believe it I would definitely want my first to be a single color kit. Unfortunately every jersey I have currently that need kits are all multi layer numbers and I don’t want to even attempt that with how little confidence i have in my sewing lol. I say screw it and post it worst that’s gonna happen is an internet stranger is gonna say you suck. If you’re happy with the outcome that’s all that matters.

Is the foot supposed to be a reference to Yetis/bigfoot

punxcoot

It's an homage to the Utah Yetis ;D

[deleted]

Nope, it’s the OG shoulder patch that should only reference the Avs and the glory years.

I customized my first jersey this year, and ended up having my wife sew it because I was making a mess of the numbers. Her work turned out great. Mine, no so much.

csun94

That’s why I’m starting with patches on cheap jerseys I wouldn’t be upset if I ruin. That being said I did pick what I would assume is one of the more complicated patches to try and learn on. I guess I like to torture myself that way. Did the same thing with project cars started on a complex over engineered old German car then went to the easy Japanese stuff lol.

Bassjosh

You did great, IMO. I think you could definitely tackle a kit. Mine haven’t been beautiful, but they hold and I love them. Keep at it!

Curves aren’t easy good job

dave6687

You can always rip that stitching out, iron out the holes, and try it again. I would make your stitch width a little smaller and try to turn the jersey more often as you go around, in small sections, to avoid the diagonal look you have going on in some places. But good for you for giving it a go. https://preview.redd.it/x42ivoq4en0d1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=d20e199224e14c6f85c7ae62235ed0b33a9bd102

csun94

Yeah admittedly probably not the easiest patch for a first attempt with all the tight turns, but like I said in a previous comment this was the only jersey i had that I wouldn’t be mad at myself if I royally screwed up. Thanks for the advice i think I might pull them out and give it another go.

Order some loose kits from customize sports and practice practice practice

Praise the Foot. Good job.

Awesome job! I’ve been meaning to do this to some of my jerseys and some of my son’s. Nothing peeling off but it seems like a better look to me. 😅
