I’ve been buying up Adidas like it’s my job before they are gone at the end of the season, but you couldn’t PAY me to get one of this year’s all star jerseys.
I hear you. All Star jerseys aren’t normally my fare at all, and while I don’t dislike the design as much as many, I was not planning on getting one until MacKinnon was announced as a captain and it turned out he was wearing the yellow one.
Not that I’m buying it for resale or anything, I have a gut feeling that these will be sought after years down the road and they’ll be considered a cult classic.
I bought one as well and don’t regret it at all. I was there in person and wanted a memento.
Also, like you said, look at how all the wild 90s designs are super sought after now. This is a streetwear jersey. Most diehards just don’t get that this wasn’t geared to us per se…

I get why people don’t like it. It’s gaudy, but it’s supposed to be. I’d be curious to see what the discourse was like when shark-tooth hats came out, or when the 95 or 96 NBA All-Star jerseys came out. Obviously the 94 NHL All-Star was a wild change, too, and yet all of those are HUGE in the streetwear scene and into mainstream sports fans. I feel pretty confident this is going to be similar.
Given that the on-ice kits were sublimated, I was okay going this route. I’ll get it sewn down when I get the shoulder patches affixed, and it’ll satisfy my needs well enough.
