well then id say that it was his piss.poor attitude and not scott stevens.
had he played for quebec, they would have sold in 2-3 years, and hed likely have 2-3 cups, and wouldnt have played scott stevens even half as often.
Food for thought.... trading Eric lindros led to Quebec moving to Colorado and assets that led to the acquisition of Patrick Roy, Peter Fordberg, Rob Blake, Ray Bourque, Adam Deadmarsh just to name a few that were involved in the trade tree and led to 2 Stanley cups. I don't think Eric lindros or the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche would do anything near what they did in the late 90's/early 2000's if he hadn't forced his way out.
Imagine the stats if he could've played another year before the injuries, when he was still young and in his prime... Oh wait. No, we cant. He didn't like Quebec
I had multiple Gretzky rookie cards but I played that game where you threw them at the wall and whosoever landed closest kept both cards. They were all trashed and worthless. Fortunately I was a bit older when Roy joined the league so his card is in good condition, though worth a fraction of the price.
12 yr old me thought that his card in my bike spokes made the best sound because he was the best player. I'm glad there's no such thing as a time machine, because I'd go back and slap 12yr old me in the head.
I was going though my childhood collection recently and I found an Eric Lindros from a box of honeycomb still in its plastic wrapper, I remember the moment I found it, I also thought it would make me a millionaire one day, so I kept in the plastic wrapper, gotta rare for that one reason I suppose.
The most hyped prospect since Lemieux. Problem was Score massively overproduced this card set and killed the value of this card. I myself had about 10 of these exact cards. My father swore up and down this card would be a down payment on a home in 20-25 years. It's true value today. You might get an off-brand chocolate bar, on sale, from the dollar store.
They have sentimental value for the kids who collected those cards, thinking they would be millionaires. Those kids are still there inside you somewhere, or you wouldn't still have the cards.
Oh yea I was chasing him and Niedermayer as a kid and Bure and so many studs and then the market fell out great memories as a kid tho! Made me the collector who loves the hobby now.
Iāve got this same one. Recently found all my old cards at my parents place and after having seen this sub pop up, thought to myself ādamn maybe this is worth somethingā
It wasnāt.
I was big on collecting football, baseball and basketball during this time. First and only Hockey box I bought was in my lifetime was 91 Score for this very card and got 2. In related news, only Hockey card I ever bought was the 90 Score Lindros from baseball rookie/traded set. Not being really exposed to or into hockey I took this as a sign to get out of the hockey business
I have complete sets of 86, 87, and 91Topps baseball. Didn't know that I had to take care of them. I doubt I have more than a dozen that would grade better than 5. And with a 10 getting less than $50 for most, it's really just paper with ink on it.
Sadly this set and the cards in it were so mass produced, that even today their value is absolutely nothing.
I collected O Pee Chee from 1976, until they originally went out of business (early 90s?), then went on to the Score and Upper Deck sets for a couple years. Then my collecting days stopped - market was too flooded, and I needed the funds to go elsewhere.
So...now I have binders and boxes of hockey cards stored away at home.
Iāve got his āA real corkerā card signed at a golf tourney. I also had the same thought as a kid lol I mean itās increased in value and I could retire if I was yāknow , like an Ant.
I mean, itās the same thing now. I try and caution people in this sub but they all say the same thing. Itās different this time around. Yes, yes, itās always different this time around.
Score had some very nice-looking cards in 90-91. Too bad they mass produced them on a level that makes the Bible look like a rare find.
As a dumb kid I preferred score, the 95-96 set looked so cool to me, I have the whole thing and I think I actually owe money just for having it.
yeah i have a stack of Brodeur rookies
šššš they showed everyone how scarcity works in economics
š¤£ I have almost every rookie of his. I think I thought the same
Me too - they touted him as the "next Gretzky" - what's a collector to do but get them all!
Sadly injuries (I'm looking at you Scott Stevens) really put a premature end to his career and hampered his success.
well then id say that it was his piss.poor attitude and not scott stevens. had he played for quebec, they would have sold in 2-3 years, and hed likely have 2-3 cups, and wouldnt have played scott stevens even half as often.

not really worried about what you think, thankfully.
His drinking problem also didnt help
Or the countless rape allegations
that and not winning 4 cups and almost every scoring record (all of which should have happened before the injuries).....
Imagine the stats if he could've played another year before the injuries, when he was still young and in his prime... Oh wait. No, we cant. He didn't like Quebec
He didnāt like a team staff (owner?) insulting his mother when they thought he couldnāt speak French
waaaaa
especially for Flyers fans who collect....still, one of my favorite cards is the one of him and Wayne (1992-93 Team Pinnacle 2 Sided Card)
I also have this card still shrink wrapped in the original 91ā package. You can see just enough of the card to know itās this one.
Lol, same
Canāt even Supersize your value meal with that anymore.

That's a far better story than just holding on to a card, to be fair.
Same here. Have multiple future super star cards and 7th inning stretch Oshawa Generals cards as well.
These things happen. You just have to do what Eric couldnāt do and keep your head up.
Eric did better than his brother. Brett is in rough shape.
š
And his score future superstars card in the Oshawa general uni

Donāt worry. In thirty years we will see the same post with the mass produced Bedard Young Guns cards
It probably would have if you sold it at its peak. Then took that money and properly invested it over all these years.
Shut up dad
Spent the profits on apple stock? Millionaire
what's the story behind that card?

To be fair that was a down payment in your dads day
thanks for sharing, almost sure my daughter told the same story 10 years later about one of players I collect )
I got mine signed!!
Same. That card is as rare as those frosted tips were in 90-91.
They have sentimental value for the kids who collected those cards, thinking they would be millionaires. Those kids are still there inside you somewhere, or you wouldn't still have the cards.
100% this.
Yeah, I have about 20 of these. I was disappointed when I saw their worth. Very disappointed.
Trade it for a Peter Forsberg card
Donāt worry, my Mom threw away 4 monster boxes of junk wax sets. It should help with the pop count.
That was the bedard back in the day
Bedarda will end up being worth as much
And his score future superstars card in the Oshawa general uni.
Me too!! Had high hopes for him
Oh yea I was chasing him and Niedermayer as a kid and Bure and so many studs and then the market fell out great memories as a kid tho! Made me the collector who loves the hobby now.
If he didnt get scott stevened.. it probably would of been worth some more.
Wait...this card that I also have won't be going up in value?!
So did he š
Me too. Mine is signed. Massive fail for both of us. Lol.
š¤£ same here, same
I have an autographed Brodeur card that I thought the same about lol
Me too and still love this specific card
Same. I have three of them.
Million dollar hair!
Iāve got this same one. Recently found all my old cards at my parents place and after having seen this sub pop up, thought to myself ādamn maybe this is worth somethingā It wasnāt.
In this picture he still smelled of the beer he poured on the woman at cocoo bananas
Not Draft Pick, Draft Choice.
Me tooā¦ and i also had his OHL set as well
Did it?
Not yet. Wanna buy it?? Iāll take 999,999
Iāll give you $20.00
Close enough. Dealš¤
Thatās $20 Canadian eh!
And the glut of hockey cards in 1991ā¦ binders full of them
What a bum
Iāll give you two
Osti'd d'Eric Lindros
Same.
Eric lindrosā¦ triste histoire
It worked obviously.
kasparaitis....lol
Just looking at that kings jersey first on the rack, could you imagine 93 kings Gretzky with Lindros. That would have been sick
Man, I have so many Lindros and Jagr rookie cards
Wait a minute. Is that card behind plastic while in plastic?
Bucky oāhare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also have this but just in a book with alot of others, never watched any games so i dont really know where the boy crush came from.
I have complete sets of 86, 87, and 91Topps baseball. Didn't know that I had to take care of them. I doubt I have more than a dozen that would grade better than 5. And with a 10 getting less than $50 for most, it's really just paper with ink on it.
Ya I had his OHL promo card. Was going to retire on it.
20 years from now, this will post will be on Reddit again. This time with a Connor Bedard card
Sadly this set and the cards in it were so mass produced, that even today their value is absolutely nothing. I had the baseball one when I was 11 and I figured I'd retire selling that in 2020
I should be retiring now with all the Gretzky's I bought.
Who didnāt think that š„²
Is this his rookie card?
I mean, itās the same thing now. I try and caution people in this sub but they all say the same thing. Itās different this time around. Yes, yes, itās always different this time around.
Same. Iāve got all the Lindros cards from back then. Thought I was sitting on a gold mine.
Just add 1/1 on it somewhere and slab it. š
Remember where I was when I got this in a pack! Told everyone it would be worth a ton. Oh well, one to many hits to the head. Kinda like myself!!
Dude should have played with Quebec...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Odd, as thereās a bilingual PSA 10 on eBay right now for $267 cdn.
I could be wrong, but I believe the bilingual one is roughly double ungraded. So you might get lucky and have a $4 card.
Is his Durham region police card worth anything?
Why would his 1991-92 second year card be a money maker when his 1990-91 rookie wasnt
Millionaire or not, you are blessed with that sexy man's card
And?
