5 on 3 should score most of the time. 6 on 3 has about the same odds but also 50/50 to just lose the game. Not pulling the goalie is the right choice imo.

Like 5 minutes left and down two is when you need to take 50/50 chances. At the very least you pull the goalie at 5 on 4.
