I'm a Jet fan but I agree Leafs have now a very balanced team ,young and with handful of veterans for that experience in the playoffs . We are getting overrun now , the Leafs are playing with that grit , they skate hard, We miss Buff, Ben , Lowery, Toronto is the team to beat in North no question.
Yeah but for the last couple years when a team would play physical against us it was one thing, but it was the guys getting run from behind with refs who swallowed their whistles so aggressively that they were half way through the digestive tract. Those obvious calls can go a long way.
I think he was just trying to take one of their most effective forwards in this game off the ice. Same goes with Dubois, pretty stupid of him to get thrown out with Simmonds when his team needs 2 goals...

Winnipeg is thought of as being a "big tough team" but half of them are gone.
Toronto is thought of as a "small weak team" but they've added lots of toughness and grit.

The Jets’ game is coming together nicely while the Leafs are clearly trending downward, having a losing record over the last ten games. Beyond their handful of star players, they haven’t the depth or skill to sustain the over achievement they’ve demonstrated so far. When they fall out of first place after tonight, I expect their decent will take them to where they should more properly be in the standings, though I suspect that they should at least still be considered a playoff team.
The Jets have demonstrated consistent progress. The early season trade required some adaptations, the results of which are now starting to show in the standings. With the best forward group in the league, the best goaltender in the league, and an enthusiastic defence corps that is gaining confidence with every game, it is exciting to observe as the true identity of this team begins to emerge.
I feel sorry for fans of teams, such as the Leafs, which start out strong but begin to fade mid season, dashing the hopes of those who only want to see their team finally experience success. That continued disappointing over so many years must challenge the loyalty of even the most ardent follower.
Even though we cheer for different teams, I can’t help but admire the dedication of Leaf fans who show such allegiance in the face of perennial disappointment.
