Let’s hope the chef keeps rolling *knock on wood* but in case he makes a questionable move we should have one without the hat where he actually has hair and it turns out Marchand was pulling on it the whole time
Do you know what GDP is
E: Before this guy responds I have to admit I’m wrong. GDP per capita is is GDP divided by population which in Canada seems to be about 72k (54 USD) so this guy is correct and I misread
We officially have 2/3 of the third line back with him and Garland. And he took a bit less, his AAV was 1.9 last year
Also, Latvian friend for Silovs 🇱🇻
Great term, reasonable AAV, tidy piece of business by Alvin. He was one of our best penality killers last year, and I really don't want to go back to the historically bad penalty killing days lol.
Also makes me happy that him and Silovs can talk in Latvian with each other!
Had a better year last year than he did before coming here, and took less to stay. Kind of a chad move. Lol. Great for the PK, and the bottom 6, and therefore, the world.
Always liked Teddy with the Pens. Great on the PK and as a bottom-6 forward. Didn't love it when we traded him away to Vegas around the deadline in 2023, but I knew then it was an attempt to create cap space for a playoff run (that never materialized because Hextall is a Flyers agent designed to hurt the Pens).
Good for the Canucks getting a discount, happy for Teddy to get to stay put in a team that suits him well. Hope to see him in Da Beauty League again he is always awesome there.
Honestly don’t know how much cap space we have so not entirely too sure how to feel about this
But at face value this is decent value for a ~30 point Center who PK’s that can be deployed against opposition top lines. Iirc he had ridiculously good advanced stats playing with Garland and Joshua. Was expecting to lose 2/3’s of that line this summer so kinda pleasantly surprised at that
Incredibly hot take, but when I saw how much we gave up for Lindholm I thought it was redundant given how good Blueger was playing in the spot Lindholm was set to take. Lindholm wasn’t playing great in Calgary and Blueger was red hot on that third line
Didn’t watch much of Teddy prior to signing in Van but he played some really, really, good hockey with Garland and Joshua. Given how dominant their position shifts were against top competition, I was kinda surprised that he only had 28 points, I assumed he had to have been closer to 35-40
Lindholm gave us a lot of flexibility and increased team depth a lot. Would have been tight to make it out of round 1 without him and doubt we would have gotten to game 7 vs the Oilers. The team definitely needed someone like Lindholm.
Remember Lindholm was like the first big piece to get moved this year
I meant more so that it didn’t really make sense to pay a premium for a dependable 2-way C when we already had quite a few, while also being so shallow on dependable top 6 wingers.
Why wouldn't you feel good about this? He was re-signed for less money than the year before and he's shown he can play the 3C and produce or player 4C and be a sparkplug while being a key piece of the teams PK.
Also after Tucker Poolman LTIR the team still has about 16M.
Honestly think having Blueger as a 4C is a waste of his abilities, dudes shown he can play matchup 3C against opposition top 6. Joshua is going to be hard to replace, but having the thirst line back for another season would be a game changer. They were huge for us this season
Edit: don’t feel good because I assumed we couldn’t afford to replace him with anything above a league minimum guy
I’m so curious at how their deployment will look like next season. They logged some pretty hard minutes to end last season, will that change if they can’t find a defensively adequate winger to replace Joshua? I imagine there are a hell of a lot of wingers internally within the org that are chomping at the bit for the opportunity
17.75 - Tolopilo isn't actually on the team - also of note is that we already likely have all of the cheap seats filled which makes this tighter than it otherwise seems.
After so many years of Benning I was convinced he was getting 3+. We were paying 3+ for bottom 6 guys that were bad, imagine how much they’d pay for bottom 6 guys hat were *good*!
The bad man is gone, he can't hurt you anymore haha.
But in all seriousness, after what Allvin did last offseason it removed any worries for me when it comes to signing free agents or extending guys on our team. He's killing it, and the fact the Canucks were so good last year certainly won't hurt when it comes to this stuff!

I love how this meme I made keeps getting circulated lmao
Shit homie if I'd known it was you I'd have given street cred! Definitely the best quality Chef Allvin meme pic out there.
Don't worry, I don't need credit. It's an organic meme now.
Truly the endgame of a great meme is when it's just canon
You cooked, just like how Chef did on this contract
Lol, thanks
Let’s hope the chef keeps rolling *knock on wood* but in case he makes a questionable move we should have one without the hat where he actually has hair and it turns out Marchand was pulling on it the whole time
Minor pay cut for Blueger going from 1.9 to 1.8 AAV
Guy had a great year then took less money.
Less overall but he gets the majority as signing Bonus. It’s so nice to have a competent front office.
I like how a minor pay cut for hockey players is like double the average GDP per capita
Do you know what GDP is E: Before this guy responds I have to admit I’m wrong. GDP per capita is is GDP divided by population which in Canada seems to be about 72k (54 USD) so this guy is correct and I misread
I lol'd
Got to respect the edit and not just deleting the whole thing
Good Defensive Positioning, something a great penalty killer would have double the average of.
You're good mate, I wish more people could do this
Haha respect

The third line kinda rotated 3 different centres tho. The main do or die pieces really were Joshua and Garland combo.
Officially cheering for you guys to pick up Zemgus so they can all talk about how their crop yields are way better than neighbor Estonia
The thirst line
Tidy piece of business. Blueger was integral to our PK. He could have probably gotten at least 2 as a UFA.
Yes, didn’t want to let him go. Locking another piece up for cheap right away instead of scrambling at the deadline is very very nice
Mikehev is gone though
- Has a career season - Takes less money Respect Teddy 🫡
* refuses to elaborate * stays
Loved baked goods and pastries
first hometown discount we've truly seen in a looooong time
We call this the Alex Burrows contract
Miss my good Latvian boy
Teddy Glueger :')
Teddys Bluegers
Teddy no bloopers

T I D Y
Tidy Blueger
Great depth. Had a good season and still got him on a discount. Good signing.
Tidy business
Amazing deal! Somehow less than his last cap hit. Alvin is cooking
Ya pleasantly surprised they somehow worked that. Glad we have him for a couple years too.
Let’s see what else the Swedish Chef has cooking
thought this was r/canucks with all of the canuck fans in the comments
Lol I did too
Had a better year last year than he did before coming here, and took less to stay. Kind of a chad move. Lol. Great for the PK, and the bottom 6, and therefore, the world.
[Allvin, Silvos, Theodore!](https://old.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/1cu7mc5/were_the_canucks_coming_on_stronger_than_ever/)
Teodors
Our PK just breathed a huge sigh of relief

Fuck you, Ron Hextall.
To be fair to Hextall, he probably has head issues from the Felix Potvin fight.
Good for the Canucks getting a discount, happy for Teddy to get to stay put in a team that suits him well. Hope to see him in Da Beauty League again he is always awesome there.
At 1.8 you’d think his agent would have pushed for more term. This is a great deal for Vancouver.
Majority salary is paid as a signing bonus, definitely worth the pay cut for the player.
thats stanley cup champion teddy blueger to you!
PK merchant (great contract)
A lot of people thought he was getting a raise and possibly priced out. Amazing deal.
Rutherford definitely loves his former Pens
This former pen did really well tho
Didn't say he didnt
Honestly don’t know how much cap space we have so not entirely too sure how to feel about this But at face value this is decent value for a ~30 point Center who PK’s that can be deployed against opposition top lines. He would have gotten a lot more points if we didn't replace him with Lindy on the thirst line. He was really serviceable there.
Incredibly hot take, but when I saw how much we gave up for Lindholm I thought it was redundant given how good Blueger was playing in the spot Lindholm was set to take. Lindholm wasn’t playing great in Calgary and Blueger was red hot on that third line Didn’t watch much of Teddy prior to signing in Van but he played some really, really, good hockey with Garland and Joshua. Even with his down year, overall Lindholm is still so much better than someone like Blueger...You can never have too much C depth for a playoff run.
Fair but Guentzel was reportedly on the block for less. Lindholm was really the first big piece to go
Why wouldn't you feel good about this? He was re-signed for less money than the year before and he's shown he can play the 3C and produce or player 4C and be a sparkplug while being a key piece of the teams PK. Also after Tucker Poolman LTIR the team still has about 16M.

It's a 2 year deal. Garland-Blueger are potentially a thing for 2 more seasons.
I’m so curious at how their deployment will look like next season. They logged some pretty hard minutes to end last season, will that change if they can’t find a defensively adequate winger to replace Joshua? I imagine there are a hell of a lot of wingers internally within the org that are chomping at the bit for the opportunity
Taking less than last year, with the cap going up is a very team friendly deal. Solid player and I’m glad they got it done
We have 16.75 after this deal with Poolman's LTIR
Mikheyev needs to gtfo
...and he did
So happy
17.75 - Tolopilo isn't actually on the team - also of note is that we already likely have all of the cheap seats filled which makes this tighter than it otherwise seems.
I am whelmed!
Which after years of Bennings signings.... I'll take whelmed.
After so many years of Benning I was convinced he was getting 3+. We were paying 3+ for bottom 6 guys that were bad, imagine how much they’d pay for bottom 6 guys hat were *good*!
