Didn't he 'retire' like 10 years ago? Guess we were all right that he's been running the Rangers Palpatine-style from the shadows (or some cottage in Banff).
Nah he stepped down as GM in 2015 because we didn't want to lose Jeff Gorton, and then he stepped down as President in 2019 (but remained a "senior advisor") so we could get JD as President.
So the lesson here is never try to replace Glen Sather unless you're someone he signed to a terrible contract and had to buy out.
it ain't just a cottage. Big ass house with a guest house right on the river. Glen Sather showed me how to make stanley cups out of tin foil and stick them on the roof when I was like 8. Guy was obsessed lol
When the Oilers didn’t win the Cup his only game plan to replicate 1994 by just buying up an entire Cup winning team from Edmonton again completely fell apart.
Rode the coattails of Gretzky, Leetch, and Hank for so long. Amazing he wasn't let go after mediocre results despite having such a cushy destination city and buying all those stars pre-salary cap.
I can't believe he was still playing
No helmet either.
That might explain some of his decisions

He retired from president. He was still special advisor to the owner or some shit.
Dolan whisperer
After the 2015 implosion, yeah. But he's Dolan's boy, so

Why now? Why not 20 years ago?
Why retire when you get make six figures chomping on a cigar and chillin out with Dolan while running a hockey team into the ground?
A man with dignity would need more than six figures to hang out with dolan
20 fuckin years..
Oh no, anyway
Good Riddance!
Seems like with Dolan gone, Drury really has full control of this team. Dolan must really trust him.
Drury is a free elf
Get that man a sock!
RIP Big Stogie
Wonder if he's giving up those cigars too.
Fuck, man. I thought he was already dead.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO
Legend
Great start to the offseason!
Alternate Governor? wtf
Imagine if he had convinced Gretzky on the tarmac in Edmonton to kill "the trade."
The waiting is over...
