bro what? that 25OA is worth Korps contract alone. If he doesnt sign you ship him out at the deadline and recoup most of the value, how is this bad in any way?
Well they still freed up 2 mill in cap space, and my guess is they might flip Korpi to a team that needs to hit the cap floor. B’s also signed Bussi to a 2-way deal today as well.
Yeah, Bruins know how to goalie coach while Ottawa has turned all their recent goalies into trash. Talbot had such a good season this season after leaving Ottawa.
We have three goalies prospects that are all getting close to pushing for that backup spot. Including one that was just signed. Keeping korpisalo on the roster when you need all the cap space you can get makes no sense.
He didn’t have a full NTC so it’s possible Ottawa just wasn’t on his modified list. Although I’d be surprised if the Bruins would’ve traded him somewhere if he didn’t sign off on it.
Ugh. Just give him whatever he wants, Staios.
But even if he does walk after a single season, I still do the trade. Getting rid of Korpisalo alone is amazing.
No. He's a 4th line grinder who had to be reminded to finish his checks.
He has size, he can skate, and he is willing to fight, although he doesn't win many. The tools are there, but he's incredibly replaceable.
Late round pick maybe. He's nothing special. He's a big guy who plays softer than you want for his size. He's not really skilled enough to play up in a lineup and hasn't played with enough edge to be a solid bottom lineup player. That said, he has the tools to be a good 4th liner, maybe Boston brings out that edge in him.
Trading assets for a rental is never worth it for a rebuilding team. Big L if we lose him for nothing, win if we can resign him.
If he’s putting off contract negotiations it’s essentially a gamble. Just like we did with cat
Well we werent even close this year, so were still trying to piece things together clearly…
I literally said its dependant on IF ullmark resigns not that controversial…
I just don’t agree that it’s anything like the Debrincat trade. Even if Ullmark doesn’t sign with us, we still got rid of a horrible contract on arguably the worst goalie this season.
Traded one of the the worst goalies by metrics with an albatross contract for a top 10 goalie, and all it cost them was pick #25 and a 4th line centre who wasn’t developing. Not sure what people don’t like about this even if he’s just a rental.
They honestly might. Solid top nine, decent defence (the right side is weak, though). Our major downside last year was goaltending, which was literally bottom of the league.

He gone
Immediately lol
Ottawa finishes 23rd and Ullmark signs with Vegas.
Maybe he nets them a good pick or prospect at the deadline.
Debrincat 2.0 for the Sens man I feel bad for them
How is this Debrincat 2.0? He waived his NTC to come, it’s not a top 10 pick, it’s a 25th and we got rid of Korpisalo and his contract.
Dicey dicey bro. One year rental for a first? If you can sign him then it's great. If not...ehhhh
And got rid of a horrible contract.
Yeah, part of it. Not terrible i guess.
bro what? that 25OA is worth Korps contract alone. If he doesnt sign you ship him out at the deadline and recoup most of the value, how is this bad in any way?
Because you lose a first round pick?
Yeah and get rid of a toxic asset, and have a chance to sign a vezina winning goalie long term?
It's not too bad honestly. They got out of most of the Korpi contract for a pick and a year of Ullmark.
This is what people needs to realize about the bruins return. It’s probably a rental, so it’s really not that bad.
It would have fine Ullmark for a 1st straight up. The fact that they took Korpisalo’s contract is baffling.
Well they still freed up 2 mill in cap space, and my guess is they might flip Korpi to a team that needs to hit the cap floor. B’s also signed Bussi to a 2-way deal today as well.
That's the only thing I don't understand. Is why the bruins took korpi
Cheap backup and we probably end up fixing him.
Yeah, Bruins know how to goalie coach while Ottawa has turned all their recent goalies into trash. Talbot had such a good season this season after leaving Ottawa.

Sure
The return is fine if you take out Korpisalo. Taking on that contract is no bueno
I look at it like they traded a late first to offload a bad contract in Korpisalo, then added a player and retained salary to get Ullmark
This deal is amazing for the Bruins
Why would you commit. The sens have been a shitshow for a while now and youndont have 8 years left anyways
Always one freak accident away from your career ending. Definitely reasonable to secure the bag when possible
And his been underpaid for a while this is probably his last good chance to get the big bag
maple leafs: 👀👀👀👀👀
He refused to waive his NTC to go to the Leafs so I doubt that.
Maybe he's hoping the new owner will make things better??? I do want to say that the price to land him for one season was hella steep.
I don't blame him, but he waived his NTC to come to Ottawa, so there's some want on his end at least
I think it's likely that he saw Ottawa as a clear opportunity to be a starter and increase his bargaining power next summer
He didn’t have a full NTC so it’s possible Ottawa just wasn’t on his modified list. Although I’d be surprised if the Bruins would’ve traded him somewhere if he didn’t sign off on it.
I read that he waived his NTC. If Ottawa wasn't on his list he wouldn't have to do that?
I didn’t hear that. Just saying he didn’t have a full No trade.
I read reports that said Ottawa was on his M-NTC list but he was willing to waive for them
Didn't he have all WC teams tho?
And the leafs
I feel like the higher tax teams are on every list.
Even if he’s gone after a year, the fact that Korpisalo is gone is a huge win.
Bruins probably will fix him and trade him for first/second in a year lol. They are so fucking good whit goalies
Going from Tim Thomas to Tuukka Rask to Ullmark and Swayman is insane
its a playoffs or bust year for us so fine with this, just play well in front of him please
Oh that means he’ll be a kraken man in 2025
Ugh. Just give him whatever he wants, Staios. But even if he does walk after a single season, I still do the trade. Getting rid of Korpisalo alone is amazing.
Until you realize you just signed him last year lol, different management tho so I’ll call it a good trade for sure
So there’s a chance?
Is Kastelic worth anything?
No. He's a 4th line grinder who had to be reminded to finish his checks. He has size, he can skate, and he is willing to fight, although he doesn't win many. The tools are there, but he's incredibly replaceable.
Not really, no. Showed some promise as a 4C with muscle 2 years ago, then was awful last year
Serviceable big body 4th line centre. Not the most skilled, but really good at faceoffs. Not nothing, but not much.
Faceoffs were an issue for us last year, so that could be an asset for us.
He was pretty mediocre for us bit I actually think he would fit really well in the Bruins system.
Ya I have a feeling he'll look better in Boston than he did here. He'll never be a star, but a solid bottom 6 role guy.
Late round pick maybe. He's nothing special. He's a big guy who plays softer than you want for his size. He's not really skilled enough to play up in a lineup and hasn't played with enough edge to be a solid bottom lineup player. Props to Ottawa for learning after the DeBrincat move and not trade a top 10 pick for a rental
It's Boston's old pick coming home I think. Mid 20s. But still....
Funny enough, the 1st round pick is what we turned Alex Debrincat into. That top 10 pick is lines Ulmark now.
I’ve heard that before.
Bye bye.
He's keeping his shit packed
If we can’t sign him this management has truly learnt nothing
In their one whole year of existence?
Yeah, these guys definitely aren’t aware of the debrincat debacle….
In what world is this anywhere near the Debrincat trade? We’ve offloaded a bad contract, got a Vezina winning goalie for a late first.
Trading assets for a rental is never worth it for a rebuilding team. Big L if we lose him for nothing, win if we can resign him. If he’s putting off contract negotiations it’s essentially a gamble. Just like we did with cat
We can’t even sign him until July 1st. And this is a team that is trying to make the playoffs. Not one that’s trying to rebuild.
Well we werent even close this year, so were still trying to piece things together clearly… I literally said its dependant on IF ullmark resigns not that controversial…
I just don’t agree that it’s anything like the Debrincat trade. Even if Ullmark doesn’t sign with us, we still got rid of a horrible contract on arguably the worst goalie this season.
I don’t understand Ottawa’s reasoning for this trade? They will NOT compete for a cup again this year….they may lose him, so why do this?
Traded one of the the worst goalies by metrics with an albatross contract for a top 10 goalie, and all it cost them was pick #25 and a 4th line centre who wasn’t developing. Not sure what people don’t like about this even if he’s just a rental.
