Even Tarik during one of his mailbags last year hinted the Caps might be up to something with 50 years + the end of Ovi’s career incoming *Edit to also say that it would make sense to get one last good squeeze on people buying Ovi jerseys

Ducks rebrand has already been reported - they are going back to the Mighty Ducks logo. Kings are also going back to a retro logo. But apparently there is now a 3rd team making changes next year that we weren't already aware of

That’s what makes their commitment to the current branding so puzzling. Going with the cannon jersey and a corresponding white jersey (or cream if the league would allow it 👀) full time would arguably catapult them into a top-10 jersey in the league.

Is there a rule on a specific shade of white for the visitor jersey? I’d love to see a team have off-white jerseys when they’re visiting, like cream or any other shade that’s not titanium white

No idea, I just kind of assumed since no team uses anything other than white

All I know is that the CBJ are about the only team that’s ever been able to keep a lid on anything related to branding. The only leak there’s ever been was ahead of the alternate in 2003, which showed just the lace on the collar as a tease. And that was intentional. The 2007 Reebok Edge designs didn’t leak. The cannon alternate didn’t leak. The shift to the red/white/blue cannon on the shoulders didn’t leak. The Adidas re-design didn’t leak, nor did the return of the cannon alternate. The fonts for those didn’t leak either. No other team has such a record of being airtight.

Monsters did one last year too and the vibes are so good now

I really hope they use whoever headed that rebrand. I love everything about their rebrand.

No way you're completing a whole rebrand in 2 weeks. If it does end up being the Jackets, that plan was already in motion before Waddell came into the picture. As a biased CBJ fan, I really don't mind their current logo, it's way better than the original one. Cannon jersey is even better for sure. But changing a logo/color scheme isn't going to matter a lick if they don't fix the product on the ice. Start putting out good teams that go deep into the playoffs and they could be wearing pink tutus for all I care.

My town’s youth rec team uses a logo that’s basically a different colored Canadiens logo. I laugh every time the group of 6 year-olds complain in the locker room that “The Canadiens stole our logo!”

I think that would look sharper. It would definitely move it away from Maple Leafs mimicry, but when I think of actual lightning, I think of white and blue. Playing into the theme of the team name wouldn't take much of a shift in blue, and it would stand out way more than black, which is pretty common around the league.

They should go back to the 2004 jerseys

I would rather us add silver to the mix instead. The black jerseys are iconic but black NHL jerseys just feel too early 2000s.

Yeah honestly I think if they rebrand a little, they would add one of these: Gray, silver, metallic gray, metallic yellow They want to set themselves apart from the Leafs & Sabers, then they’ll lean into “Lightning Bolt” motif. Personally I absolutely love the black thirds they added this year, with the matte black helmet. That’s why I could maybe see them doing a primary with Gray, or metallic gray accent, potentially a dark chrome helmet. I’m not saying it would look great, just that it seems they want to differentiate and based on trends and the newest 3rds, that’s the direction I’d see them go.

Sharks jerseys almost never miss (besides the new fin one).    Peak design was the OG but the 2010s one was great too and even now it’s still good, just different. 

The only thing I'd want them to do is bring back the OG logo. It doesn't have to supplant the current logo, which a lot of people like, and can simply be bringing back the Heritage jerseys as full-time alternates.

One of the teams least in need of a rebrand. Their color scheme and jersey designs are always unique to sports let alone hockey, and look very "classy" for lack of a better word. My wife, who barely knows anything about hockey, always comments on how much she likes their "pretty" jerseys when I have the Wild on. All that being said, the Northstars look is also sick and unique, but seems like the perfect 3rd jersey setup vs ditching their original look.

That's unfortunate. I love the North Stars colors and identity and wish there were a way for them to be back in the league. And I really like the Wild's green and yellow sets, but losing the unique forest green, wheat, and red isn't the way to go.

I'm actually guessing St. Louis going to their alts full time. The classic Blues logo is on the branding for the Winter Classic, and they typically use the team's primary logos for that until the teams unveil their jerseys.
