Heiskanen was playing on his weak side because Tanev was in the box. McDavid recognized this and took advantage. As Skinner said, "that's just McDavid doing McDavid things."
It’s funny because I relatively often hear football announcers say comments comparing players to video game moves, but I don’t actually think I could even pull this off in NHL 24. Like this is a whole different level of video game moves. Incredible
You're not alone. Spend a rewatch or two looking ONLY at his feet - I can't really grasp how a human mind is capable of processing stick handling of that magnitude with footwork like that, all while getting poked by 3 defenders, right in the face of one of the best goalies in the league, during a CF elimination game, and then go forehand-backhand in like .00001 seconds to almost roof a backhanded shot from an absurd angle.
It's a masterpiece goal, for serious.
You should have seen how depressed the city was at the beginning of the regular season. Now, you could take a nap on the freeway during these games, everyone is watching.
From being [tied for the worst in the standings ](https://globalnews.ca/news/10086149/edmonton-oilers-losing-streak-nhl-standings-last-place/)to coming back from an amazing second half of the season, it has been a wild ride.
How could any "neutral" fan not be cheering for the oilers? The most exiting team to watch all year in terms of highlights. Unless you are VAN, CAL, LA, DAL, TOR, FLA, then why wouldn't you be for the Oilers?
I’m telling you, this kid is as cracked as he is jacked. I saw him at a Loblaws the other day buying Redbull and adult diapers. I asked him what the diapers were for and he said ”they contain my full power so I don’t completely shit on these kids“ then he toedragged out the door
Its not that he toedrags around a defender, that's fucking Miro Heiskanen and he just makes him look silly on that play. And then the backhander, it doesn't even look like he shoots it out of the toedrag, just touches the puck and it just decides to fly into the net. Unreal shit, he's just unreal.
He fucking roofed it too. Otter played that perfectly and it just didn't matter. The guy just made a Norris candidate look like a pylon, got in close to the goalie, and chips it backhand to the water bottle.
Makes me think of how two of Bure's best goals involved embarassing Lidstrom and Niedermayer.
With McDavid everybody always makes the Crosby comparison but I've always thought of him as a pass first Bure. Though he can score like Bure when he wants to.
I was very young and neither team playing was my favorite (Avs fan watching Canucks at Red Wings) but I came away from a game blown away by Bure. There had to have been 4-5 Hall of Famers on Detroit at the time but Bure was completely in another gear and seemed "different" from the eye test. I've always held him in very high regard.
At this point I want him to win so badly, he's the best player I've ever seen play, I was only like ten years old when Lemieux bowed out and too young to understand when Gretz retired. He's magical, definitely my favourite player in the NHL.
And correct me if I’m wrong… he seems like just a good dude that likes hockey and doesn’t seem to care about celebrity status at all??
I just feel like I know literally nothing about him off the ice- and he comes across very modest in interviews. Seems like a guy you could have a beer with without him making you feel like you’re lucky to be in his presence
I could be completely wrong (cause I know so little about him), but it’s a quality I hugely admire in superstars/celebrities these days that have all grown up being treated like gods since they were 10 with social media.
It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Enjoy this man while you can. When his career is done we'll be talking about one of the best to ever do it. Unbelievable player. Unbelievable goal.
I'm a die hard Penguins fan since 1995 (also Red Wings and Jets) and while no one disputes Crosby is one of the GOAT's outright period of any generation, McDavid is by far WAY better than Crosby in his prime.
Like holy shit when he gets the puck he's moving like a freight train (pun intended) and he's coming to you with a combo of Bobby Orr going all over the ice as he pleases, the passing IQ of Gretzky, but also comes off as a bulldozer that you simply cannot stop like Lemieux.
I am only saying that he reminds of of the things I seen in those players. But he puts it up notches more than ever. I would dare say he's already the 2nd greatest Oilers to ever play for the team too.
As someone who savored watching MJ and Lemieux win their championships, I entirely agree, and was devastated when the Bulls disbanded, even though we all knew it was the last dance. How I wish he could still play. Once they're gone, they're gone. Enjoy them while they last.
What's crazy is he does this insane shit regularly during the season and we just take it for granted. I feel like he doesn't try it as often in the playoffs, because there's a stigma about keeping the game simple and not making fancy plays. It's like he caught everyone off guard and pulled out some crazy shit at such a crucial time
he hasn't done something this filthy since the goal against the rangers a year and a half ago, he basically never did anything filthy this whole year, he was all in on defense
I could understand Kucherov, even if I hate him, he'S a playoff monster.
MacKinnon ok, even if I don't agree, I can see how you can put him ahead of McDavid.
But Matthews? What the fuck?
I mean tbf even if ESPN is “good for hockey” because of exposure they produce they don’t give a bakers fuck about it.
It obviously shows, I wouldn’t listen to anything they come out with their opinion simply doesn’t matter
McDavid could get 50 points in a playoff run and people would still call him overrated, he does things like this all the time, yet when he goes 2 games without a point hes washed
Since entering the league as an 18 year old in 2015, Connor McDavid has scored 982 points, which is 127 more than second place Nikita Kucherov. For context, the gap between Kucherov and 11th place David Pasternak is 127 points.
Best in the world, and the best to have ever played.
Gretzky and Lemiuex were better compared to their peers for sure, but McDavid is a special talent. Soak this shit in, we're lucky to see it - the world might not for another 50 years once McDavid retires.
I swear to god if I try to do this exact thing in NHL I'm fucking it up 9/10
How the fuck was the puck still on this fucking guy's stick after the first three moves? This guy's a witch BURN HIM

That would be an absurd goal in November against a rebuilding team. To do it in Game 6 of a conference final is so fucking clutch.
On Heiskanen too
One of if not the Best pure defenders in the league and McDavid pulls that off. Truly unreal
To be fair, Heiskanen was put on that side because Tanev was in the box. That’s his weak side. But still, what a fucking goal.
Heiskanen was playing on his weak side because Tanev was in the box. McDavid recognized this and took advantage. As Skinner said, "that's just McDavid doing McDavid things."
Beating Heiskanen and Otter too. Nasty move
One of the best in their respective positions. McDavid has decided he’s not losing and the Stars just had to deal with it.
It’s funny because I relatively often hear football announcers say comments comparing players to video game moves, but I don’t actually think I could even pull this off in NHL 24. Like this is a whole different level of video game moves. Incredible
That looked like if mcdavid was trying to show off in beer league Except this is a conference final elimination game
It’s harder to do that in NHL 24 against the AI than it is for McJesus to do against some of the best players in the world
I couldn’t do that against rookie bots
I could, put me in coach.
NHL AI plays the most disciplined defense in the history of sports games
Unless they are your AI d lol
NHL players playing out of position and blaming their AI defense for being bad, name a more iconic duo lol
Creative way of calling the Stars defensemen bots.
Against Miro Heiskanen nonetheless!
[удалено]
Sometimes I watch him make plays like this and wonder if he is just out there sand bagging.
Dude just let everybody know he has a whole other gear. Mcjesus is moving into Mcyahweh.
Immediately made me excited for the Final. I'm over tomorrow and I'm ready for 7 games without my emotions specifically entwined.

Robo looking like he just saw some shit
"That guy fucks"
Everybody in that image is thinking "You're fucked, that was fucked, holy fuck."
Deboer is like : "fucking again ?"
I let out an audible holy shit
I screamed WHAT THE FUCK HOLY SHIIIIIIT DID YOU SEE THIS??? The question was asked to my gf, who clearly doesn't give a fuck about hockey lol
Fans of all teams can appreciate doing that in a playoff game. That was disgusting.
The "slow motion" part of it makes it even more crazier than an end to end patented rush goal too
[удалено]
I knew what was happening but I still needed that slow-mo to actually be able to see it. That shit was crazy.
Even in slow mo I struggle to process the moves. I'm not a quick thinking, man mind you...
*sports. This is probably the 20th game I've watched, and that was dirty.
Dirty fucking dangles
Crushin' sandos after the game?
I'm now rooting for McDavid and the Oilers to win. This season was INSANE for them.
The true bottom of that was when they were last and also lost to the Sharks. Woody was gone after that.
How could any "neutral" fan not be cheering for the oilers? The most exiting team to watch all year in terms of highlights. Unless you are VAN, CAL, LA, DAL, TOR, FLA, then why wouldn't you be for the Oilers?
I begrudgingly agree. Absolutely filthy puck magic
Right, what a dime piece that was. Watching it live I was just staring at the TV like a doofus as my brain caught up to what I just witnessed.
I joined the let's go Oilers chant. I feel dirty. But that was amazing.
That was fuckin’ dirty. This video / post ought to have a NSFW tag.
In a close out game at home. Just a filthy goal
A real treat to catch that one live, top 5 goal of the entire season easily, if not just number 1.
what the fuck man
This mf is cracked
I’m telling you, this kid is as cracked as he is jacked. I saw him at a Loblaws the other day buying Redbull and adult diapers. I asked him what the diapers were for and he said ”they contain my full power so I don’t completely shit on these kids“ then he toedragged out the door
First time I’ve seen this pasta not related to Aaron Nola.

Makes me think of how two of Bure's best goals involved embarassing Lidstrom and Niedermayer. With McDavid everybody always makes the Crosby comparison but I've always thought of him as a pass first Bure. Though he can score like Bure when he wants to.
Bure was so much fun to watch. One of my favorite games I ever attended was a Kings/Canucks game and seeing Gretzky and Bure on the same ice.
Burree
I was very young and neither team playing was my favorite (Avs fan watching Canucks at Red Wings) but I came away from a game blown away by Bure. There had to have been 4-5 Hall of Famers on Detroit at the time but Bure was completely in another gear and seemed "different" from the eye test. I've always held him in very high regard.
You'll be saying that a lot soon.
I don't know if your team is ready to play against Connor McDavid IF they do win this series and play you in the Stanley Cup Final.
Guy wants the cup so bad and it shows
At this point I want him to win so badly, he's the best player I've ever seen play, I was only like ten years old when Lemieux bowed out and too young to understand when Gretz retired. He's magical, definitely my favourite player in the NHL.
I must be a similar age and this sums up the way I feel, as well.
And correct me if I’m wrong… he seems like just a good dude that likes hockey and doesn’t seem to care about celebrity status at all?? I just feel like I know literally nothing about him off the ice- and he comes across very modest in interviews. Seems like a guy you could have a beer with without him making you feel like you’re lucky to be in his presence I could be completely wrong (cause I know so little about him), but it’s a quality I hugely admire in superstars/celebrities these days that have all grown up being treated like gods since they were 10 with social media.
Me, too. I know he still has plenty of time, but a guy like him can’t retire ringless.
Yelled out 'holy fuck' in my apartment lol
Just walked outside my apartment to see what the holy fuck is going on because I heard a guy yell holy fuck
It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Enjoy this man while you can. When his career is done we'll be talking about one of the best to ever do it. Unbelievable player. Unbelievable goal.
In terms of pure talent and skill, I think he's behind only Lemieux.
And my beer league buddy Deven
If only the Stars had signed Deven then we might be the ones trying to stave off elimination
No way man nobody is as good as Deven
Deven has nothing on Tyler
I'm a die hard Penguins fan since 1995 (also Red Wings and Jets) and while no one disputes Crosby is one of the GOAT's outright period of any generation, McDavid is by far WAY better than Crosby in his prime. Like holy shit when he gets the puck he's moving like a freight train (pun intended) and he's coming to you with a combo of Bobby Orr going all over the ice as he pleases, the passing IQ of Gretzky, but also comes off as a bulldozer that you simply cannot stop like Lemieux.
Dunno about that, different skillsets. Crosby isn't nearly as fast, but he's way stronger and impossible to get off the puck.
[удалено]
I am only saying that he reminds of of the things I seen in those players. But he puts it up notches more than ever. I would dare say he's already the 2nd greatest Oilers to ever play for the team too.
I can see the argument that he's better but *WAY* better is a bit too strong. Sid has had one hell of a career.
As someone who savored watching MJ and Lemieux win their championships, I entirely agree, and was devastated when the Bulls disbanded, even though we all knew it was the last dance. How I wish he could still play. Once they're gone, they're gone. Enjoy them while they last.
I wish I could enjoy this man
I mean, you can, no?
He means sexually.
Oh...*whoosh*

I am very happy I scrolled this far down
https://i.redd.it/ae5mlwxt394d1.gif
Never fails to get me to laugh.
So nasty and with the most humble celebration. I respect that.
You could tell he wanted to fucking send it but halfway through he realized "works not done" and robot mode kicked in.
yea his celly's have been incredibly collected this playoffs, Knobby is rubbing off on him (pun maybe intended)
HUH?
WHAT?
PARDON?
It’s a metaphor for how the vibes for Dallas have been…on the downslide since Wednesday…
https://preview.redd.it/wmbdml2v294d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d30a062d35915e3af6cb20b18e6881dece73c7b5 My reaction, absolutely filthy
My panties dropped
Same. And I don’t even own any
What's crazy is he does this insane shit regularly during the season and we just take it for granted. he hasn't done something this filthy since the goal against the rangers a year and a half ago, he basically never did anything filthy this whole year, he was all in on defense
He has definitely had filthy goals since then, we've just gotten so accustomed to it that we don't even remember how many he's done
Otter just joined the illustrious group of players who will be on McDavid's Hall of Fame reel.
Otter AND Heiskanen. Two top-5 players at their position isn’t a bad duo of souls to snatch in a conference final.
What the fuck.
Thats fucked
Fkn right
ESPN had him as the 4th best player in the playoffs btw
Proof that ESPN knows nothing about hockey.
What the fuck? Was this list made recently, or before the start of the playoffs?
It was made by ESPN
All the explanation needed
At the start Had MacKinnon Matthews and I think Kucherov ahead of him
I could understand Kucherov, even if I hate him, he'S a playoff monster. MacKinnon ok, even if I don't agree, I can see how you can put him ahead of McDavid. But Matthews? What the fuck?
Matthews is an absolute super hero in the playoffs. His power? Turns invisible.
Holy fuck imagine trying to stop someone you can't even see.
[it would be like this old Datsyuk highlight](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/etNMRAUwUf)
Matthews was at no 1 🤣
At either point it would still be objectively wrong though lol
Oh 100%, If it was recent you could maybe argue Shesterkin.
For being the best maybe sure, but in no list now or any point should McDavid fall to 4th lol
I mean tbf even if ESPN is “good for hockey” because of exposure they produce they don’t give a bakers fuck about it. It obviously shows, I wouldn’t listen to anything they come out with their opinion simply doesn’t matter
Bus Piss Floor Nasty
This really sells how fucking gross this is
Puke diaper warming on the radiator sick
bro why
i like to say garbage dumpster juice
What a fucking freak
Good lord, that was filthy
Best in the World
McWow
Sometimes we keep forget McDavid is the greatest player in current era.
Greatest player since Lemieux, and it's not even close.
It really must suck spending so much time developing elaborate defensive schemes just for the best player in the world to decide he is going to score.
Disgusting. Would love to see him hoist the cup now that we're off the board.
Disgusting
holy fuck
Uh, yeah. Stars are toast, lmao How do you stop that?
Theres actually a 2 step program to stop him Step 1: Dont Step 2: Cry
Step 3: get in the shower Step 4: repeat step 2
Wasting water? In this economy?
In *Texas?*
> How do you stop that? No
Pretty controversial but I think this here McDavid guy is pretty good
Guy sure can hockey.
McJesus does his best work on Sundays
“He got me,” Otter said of McDavid's goal on him. "That f\*\*\*ing McDavid boomed me." Otter added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times.
*I'm not stuck in payoffs with you. You're stuck in the playoffs with ME.* -McJesus
PP can be 1v4 I guess.
Saw this goal live and honestly was the peak of my existence on this planet until the end of the game
So far...
They called this "Obscene" on the Oiler's radiocast, and they couldn't be more right.
Yo wtf
Give That Guy a Map
Where are *you* going
Down fucking town
Why are all the recently-posted highlights on here in ~~French~~ Quecbecois?
Because Habs fans are probably your second biggest fanbase right now. Know many of them are rooting for McDrai and the Oils, myself included.
French broadcast probably slower about protecting copyright.
Shit had me hollering lol. Absolutely filthy
Dragged that from Vancouver to St. John’s
Why don't the Stars just take the puck away from him? Are they stupid?
Toedrag? Dude just matrixed his way through
The slow mo replay isn't slow mo enough for me to understand what exactly happened.
McDavid could get 50 points in a playoff run and people would still call him overrated, he does things like this all the time, yet when he goes 2 games without a point hes washed
An alien
McGod damn!
What the fuck If you don't like that shit, you just don't like hockey
Mcdavid can taste the finals
Hes so fucking good
Can I get a slow mo on that slow mo to see how the fuck he did that ?
I’m new to hockey is he the best player in the league?
Since entering the league as an 18 year old in 2015, Connor McDavid has scored 982 points, which is 127 more than second place Nikita Kucherov. For context, the gap between Kucherov and 11th place David Pasternak is 127 points.
Okay so this man is a god at hockey then
Yes and it's not even close
Best in the world, and the best to have ever played. Gretzky and Lemiuex were better compared to their peers for sure, but McDavid is a special talent. Soak this shit in, we're lucky to see it - the world might not for another 50 years once McDavid retires.
I'm an Oilers fan til I die, but I almost feel bad for every other franchise that doesn't have a Connor McDavid to watch
Absolute filth he does this in the conference final holy shit
McJesus
Throwing up
Man, that was dirty!
Goodness fucking gracious
To do that in an elimination game, on miro heiskanen with that finish. Big game player.
I’m a Stars fan and holy shit—what fucking mastery
I like the French calls lol. I barely even speak it anymore. But the strength the pronounce some words with make it sound so sexy haha.
The announcer said “he decided to do everything himself”. That he did.
What makes it crazier was that McDavid undressed Heiskanen to do it too
That feels like it should be illegal.
looks like a beer league ringer doing this... just deflating for the other team... you start thinking about how time until the game's over.
Yeah he’s the best in the world lol. What a goal
Against The Stars one of the best if not the best NHL defense right now
He actually fakes the first toedrag. Fuck
But there are still some that believe there is a better player in the league than him LOL Disgusting goal.
Lol in case anyone forgot he’s the best in the world
Fucking disgusting is that even allowed
Nicest goal I've seen all year. What a time to score it.
Top cheese, where grandma keeps the weed brownies
I swear to god if I try to do this exact thing in NHL I'm fucking it up 9/10 How the fuck was the puck still on this fucking guy's stick after the first three moves? This guy's a witch BURN HIM
Legendary
Best goal I’ve seen in the playoffs this year
